This customer called us out to her house to perform an inspection and cleaning on the gas furnaceWhen our technician looked at it he found that her propane tank was emptyWe were not able to run the furnace and complete a service on itWe offered a new furnace, the old one is not

I am rejecting this response because:Yes they were in another room, but were banging on the wall to knock the vent off The vent was attatched properly to the wall I have lb dog that jumps on the couch everyday and hits that wall and it has never fallen off the wall, I have pictures of the vent off the wall and the duct work hanging out of the wall, if the vent was so loose it would not have pulled the duct work out of the wall Also they agreed to give me the difference between the and the 999.oo to purchase a much lesser computer and then gave me a year more of applicance repair coverage instead which I did not needMy computer was in perfect working order and I think they should have replaced it completely They should have replaced the computer to begin withThe money they gave me went to my son to start to pay him back for helping me pay for the new furnace Had I known they would offer what they did I would not have given the money to him The money was not just spent as they put it I also had a gas leak that week due to them not tightening everything properly and had to call the gas company

DO NOT USE, EXTREMELY EXPENSIVESee my commentsI signed up for the service contract - visits (for AC, for heating system) We have units so had to get contracts The guys were knowledgeable and touched up a few things Then came the shocker They had to replace the capacitor on the outside unit Their quote after the service contract 10% discount - $ I should have stopped them right there, but would not know if there were other problems or if the system would work They suggested changing the 40amp wiring contactor also I said go ahead to avoid any future problems - $for that I then went online and looked at prices for the capacitor and the contactor Both were online for a total of $ That was a shocker I could see charging double and doing the repair for a total of $ Even that would be too highBut charging $- that is totally unreasonable Any honest company would do it for $totalI should have told them to hold off so I could get quotes from other companies, but then they would not be able to see if that would fix the problem or if the rest of the system would work They did do some other touch ups, answered my questions, and gave a slight discount But $ for basic replacements, on top of the $service contract That totals almost $1, And they will return to look at the heating system in a few monthsIt was quality work, but almost triple what other companies would charge Another company charged $to replace the motor on the outside unit, and Curtis charged me $for replacing a capacitor and contactor ? I am very unhappy and left a message on their Account voicemail I now see the other reviews of their extremely high charges, which seem to be the norm for them My neighbor recommended them, but I should have done my homework Get quotes from different companies and don't be talked into spending a ridiculous amount of money for a basic repair I cannot recommend CurtisUpdate: Just received a call back from Curtis He was rude, demeaning, and kept giving a long-winded speech I had to keep interrupting in order to say anythingAnd then he said I was being rude Summing up his long winded speech - "You were given an estimate before the work was done" as law states I should have declined the repair, which I could have easily done myself But if they are there to check out the AC system and one of the parts of the system is not working and they are overcharging me for hundreds of dollars, do I just tell them no and ask them to leave ? How can the rest of the system be tested to find the problems He bad-mouthed other companies saying they hire ex-cons, mns, and don’t know what they are doing Not a respectful representative of a companyI would not have this guy working the register at McDonalds or do anything that would have him interact with people He did not want to listen He kept trying to justify the cost of replacing minor items that took about minutes to replace He was trying to explain of how costs are estimated, including licenses, trucks, equipment, and on and on I responded that I and my family had a business I respect business But that does not justify ripping people off and unreasonably overchargingI responded that you would not expect to be charged $for a $hard drive or pay $2,for new tires No response to that I was losing my cool because I signed the paper, I paid, it was done Nothing was going to change that and being spoken down to by a non-stop speech and no concern for the customer was not going to change anything I said good-bye since it was apparent nothing would happen by both of us going back and forth This guy went against every rule you hear about how to deal with people and customers I will not be doing any business with Curtis in the future and will tell Everyone I know and in the immediate area about them I want to warn others especially elderly people so they do not get ripped off

Curtis Total Service installed my heat pump system (heat & air combined) on 7/26/ They were extremely knowledgeable, courteous and efficient and finished the job in a timely manner I intend to employ Curtis for all my future needs, as I was so impressed with them

This customer first called on Sunday and told our technician that he would wait until Monday to schedule a service call on his ac systemThe customer told our tech that the unit was a solid block of ice up to the compressor outsideWe received a call from him on Monday and scheduled a call for him
on Tuesday to come out and look at the systemWhen the tech diagnosed the system he found it low on charge to the point that it could not be topped off with refrigerantThis means that the system has a leak, we told the customer that the next step is to look for the leak and see where the problem isWe quoted the leak search price upfront before ANY work was done, explained to this customers wife in detail and even had her get her husband on the phone to explain the procedureOnce we put in nitrogen to perform a leak search, the tech found that the outside unit has a blown condenser coil, at this point if they want to refill the unit, you will have to evacuate the system, install a new filter dryer, and recharge the unitThis can only be done as a temporary repair until a new coil is installed, or a new system is put inOur technician explained this and even had this customer sign off that there will be an additional charge to refill the unit if they desire( This is a waste of time since the leak they have would just let out any refrigerant we put in and was also over the legal amount of refrigerant loss.)The customers system was not cooling at all, the unit was almost completely out of refrigerant, which will cause the unit to freeze up and slug the compressor with liquidThe EPA mandates that no one is allowed to knowingly top off refrigerant into a unit without taking measures to repair the leak, or we must replace the unitThis customer told our tech that he knows "someone" who can install his new system for $and is just trying to get out of a bill that they know is legitimately dueIf you call a service company for service for an ac that is frozen and leaking all over the floor, then tell the tech to perform a leak search so they can see if it is worth fixing, you owe the bill that is due periodThis customer was told everything upfront and in writing before the work startedThis customer wants us to refill his leaking system for free, so that his "handyman" can come back later and replace his systemThere will be no refund

While speaking to the representative on the phone prior to dispatching the plumber, I asked very clearly, what the charge would be to clear a blockage in the sewer main?  These prices according to the plumber onsite were set in stone.  $426 for the 1st 50 feet regardless of how long it took or even if blockage was in the 1st few feet. (Which was my situation).  Why couldn't they provide me with that cost $426 1st 50 feet, $xxx for the next so many feet after that.   Instead, I'm already on the hook for $189 for plumber to show up.  Another plumber called me back after Curtis already dispatched plumber and billed me for visit.  Rejecting response due to: 1) Pricing not provided up front over phone when asked specifically how much you charge for a specific task 2) Excessive pricing for work performed.Regards,

I am rejecting this response because:
It does not address the fact that I was unfairly charged an amount for .45 mins of work.  The tech was unfair, dishonest and uses unfair business practices with deception and basic fraud.  I am sure I am only one of many, many consumers that are getting grossly overcharged and unfairly treated.  I am insisting on a fair refund per my original request.  I will file a complaint next with the Attorney Generals Office of PA

This customer was told over the phone that we do not quote any prices without seeing the job first. This customer called us to his rental property after he spent most of the day trying to fix the drain himself. We showed up on Christmas day, when his other self employed plumbers would not respond,...

quoted him the price to do the work, he signed the work order giving the tech permission to perform the work. Our skilled technician was able to clear the line within 15 minutes! EXCELLENT! Especially on Christmas day when you need a professional to perform an emergency repair and save the day! I am glad this didnt turn out to be a major repair on Christmas, everyone was able to get back to their families for their dinner! At Curtis Total Service we guarantee to respond even on CHRISTMAS! Our 24 hr emergency service will always provide you with a skilled technician day or night. As I mentioned we quote all prices upfront before any work is started as the Attorney General mandated years ago, that way there is no questions on what we charge for a job. Thank you.

This customer made an agreement, accepted and cashed our check for the repairs. Then keeps calling to try to get more money, we have kept our part of the agreement, obviously she accepted our offer that is why she cashed our check. This issue is closed.

This customer contracted us to install a furnace. During the installation, a loose vent in the wall fell on her computer. We offered her $500.00 for the damage to her 7 year old laptop. She accepted, then sent us a bill from a repair shop for $742.00. We agreed and paid her that amount. This was the...

repair bill from a computer repair shop. Now after she says she spent that money, she wants more from us. When this happened, we did offer to turn this into our insurance and let them handle it, or we could write a check right away for the amount disclosed. She chose to have us write a check; even after she agreed on one amount, we still paid her the repair shops bill. We are very sorry this happend to her old laptop, however, the vent was in another room, our men were working in the mechanical room and her vent, which was never originally installed correctly, caused this damage. This customer agreed to the amount and accepted this as payment in full for the repair. We consider this matter closed. Thanks.

I am rejecting this response because: The lack of customer service is horrendous. Curtis is hiding behind their bogus work order that was not clearly defined. The information that has been provided to explain the issue has been extremely factual and Curtis has done nothing to explain their error. Information from other HVAC companies and the internet regarding the issue have not been addressed by Curtis. All that continues to be said is "we signed for the work" which is a clear indicator that Curtis messed up the job and will use some formality to rob me of $505. I have had my entire HVAC system replaced (by a reputable company, not a handyman). Guess what, THERE IS NO LEAK IN MY OUTSIDE CONDENSER! How do I know this? The company that replaced my HVAC added air pressure to the condenser and the condenser is holding that air pressure. NO LEAK! So I ask again did I really need this new HVAC system?????  So if Curtis thinks they determined that my condenser unit had a leak after their bogus, overpriced, not needed Nitrogen Test, THEN PROVE TO ME WHERE THE HOLE IS IN THE CONDENSER UNIT. I HAVE THE CONDENSER SITTING IN MY GARGAGE AND YOU CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ME TO SHOW ME WHERE THIS HOLE IS THAT YOUR TECHNICIAN "SUPPOSEDLY" FOUND.I have been extremely patient, I have proven all my points on how this work went wrong and at no point have I wanted anything for free. I just wanted the work/ diagnosis done right. If Curtis stands behind the work they "SUPPOSEDLY" completed, then come prove yourselves or give me my money back. You have my number. This case is NOT CLOSED - prove yourselves or provide the full refund of $505.

customer gave him a hard time. Apparently he felt that we were supposed to perform a electrical diagnostic on his unit for no charge except  the service fee that he was clearly quoted over the phone. He was also told that when the tech arrived he would let him know what other charges will apply. 
    We quote our $77.00 service fee when you book a call, that will bring our tech to the door and he will advise you from there.  It is impossible to know what is wrong with a unit over the phone, therefore we do not quote any other repair costs until we see the problem. This customer agreed to our terms and then refused to pay our service fee because he did not like our repair options. Not acceptable.
   Remember at Curtis Total Service we quote all repair costs before any work is performed. This allows the customer the opportunity to make a buying decision. Our service fee is told over the phone before we come out to avoid any misunderstanding. The $77.00 service fee is due and must be paid. Thanks.

led out a complaint about this place on 11/29/2014, and given ID [redacted]. You just sent me a "reply" from them and closed it. I will keep writing since there was no place to respond/comment/dispute what the company wrote. The spiel that the company gave was BS and not acceptable. I was ripped off, no answers as to why a motor put in was "supposedly" new but yet SEVEN years old. Also, how am I supposed to know that a motor they are attempting to charge me $549 is really $105 when I have servicemen standing here trying to get a signature? Am I supposed to excuse myself and go and look on the computer to see what the "real" price is? If the Revdex.com is going to just close complaints like this no wonder why places have good comments, when you won't do ANYTHING about problems and ripoffs? I thought that is what you are there for? I want this posted on the Revdex.com website as a complaint to inform other consumers about this practice. I will be posting on other websites if you won't do anything about it.

This customer is very confused. As with all service calls to our company we quote the service fee over the phone. It is $77.00 to come to your home as he was told. Our skilled technician will then take a look at your problem and offer a solution, as we did with this gentleman. Unfortunaltely he did...

not like our price to perform the work. He also did not listen to our recomendations as to what should be done. The only thing he kept telling my techs is that our cost for repairs was to high. I believe he was expecting handy man prices. He declined the work, and that is ok. However then he called our office and kept telling me he wanted his service fee back. This is not going to happen, we quote this before we send our techs to your home so there is no misunderstanding. Of course you can call around until you find someone who is self employed or works from home that will work for less, that is up to the customer. There will be no refund.
