Davis Autosports Reviews (47)

Finally, [redacted] has arranged shipping.  I spoke with the car hauler, and he said he would deliver at 7 AM Monday, June 30. If the vehicle is complete as described  will be satisfied and have no further complaint. At one time [redacted] said he was hired to build the vehicle and when that was complete his responsibility was done. However, he had included delivery charges in the purchase price and had agreed to arrange shipping. Finally, he honored that promise.Thank you for your assistance.

Davis AutoSports Restoration/Build - an account of deception and incompetence
Over the course of the build Jonathan sent progress images, some of which were not of my Jeep (bait & Switch). We flew to Richmond to test drive our build. After a short test drive around Richmond Jonathan presented us with an agreement that stated we accept the Jeep "as is". With reservations made in Roanoke that night and a large deposit already made that I didn't want to lose what choice did we have? Jonathan doesn't stand behind his work. The guarantee listed on the web-site: "Our Full Restoration Cherokees come with a 1 year BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY and a 2 year POWERTRAIN WARRANTY." is apparently fraudulent .
Jonathan remarked that they would take care of any problems we found on our two week trek around Virginia before shipping our Jeep to us. However, only one of the items on that list was addressed prior to shipping, after all, he already had our money.
When the Jeep finely arrived in California, I checked under the hood and started ordering needed parts and making appointments with mechanics that I could trust to finish the build and fix the mistakes Davis AutoSports made. I changed the oil and noticed that the sway-bar links assembly did not match the progress images he sent 06/20/17. The sway-bar link assembly I observed on my Jeep demonstrated very faulty and alarming mechanical work for a $3,200 custom suspension. In addition, over the next few weeks, errors were found in the installation of the $2,400 alarm & entertainment system, the $2,250 A/C system and other locations that are documented in this presentation:

Note: All information cited above can be substantiated in e-mails retained on a server and note that two or more people witnessed the errors documented in the presentation. Jonathan saw this presentation and threatened litigation based on a poorly worded sentence that states: " Buyer agrees to leave positive reviews and feedback online" buried in the text of the as-is buyer's agreement. I had our attorney research this clause and forwarded the findings to Jonathan.

[redacted]Continuing my problems  with [redacted] (Davis Autosports) of Richmond, VA.  He did finally arrange shipping of the [redacted] The battery was dead on arrival and had to be jumped to unload it. I noted the following problems:
The steering wheel is 90 degrees right out of line. Driving straight, the steering wheel is sideways.
The right front power door lock did not work
The front power windows chattered
The driver's power seat does not function
The engine would not idle and stalled when cold
The left front tire rubs the control arm on tight turns
The [redacted] floor mats for front seats and cargo area were missing
I contacted Mr. [redacted] via email, and he agreed to send the [redacted] front floor mats and rear cargo mat immediately. He also said if the battery was bad, he would send a replacement immediately.  The battery terminals were scraped up on delivery, indicating that it had been jump started a lot before it was shipped.I replied that I would appreciate his sending the floor and cargo mats, but if he would just reimburse me his cost for a new battery he would avoid the shipping costs for something so heavy.I took the vehicle to [redacted]. They diagnosed a defective door lock actuator. I contacted [redacted], and he replied that there was nothing wrong  and the garage was just ripping me off. They installed a new lock actuator, and the lock works now. They inspected and lubricated the front power window assemblies. They got them to work but recommended waiting for complete failure because of the expense of replacing the mechanisms. The spark plugs were bad and were replaced. This coupled with a throttle body cleaning cured the stalling problem. They were unable to put the vehicle on their alignment machine to correct the steering wheel issue. They estimated the repair of the driver's seat power base unit to be $1,500. I told them not to fix this. [redacted] said he has this part in stock, but he will not even quote me a price for the part. The total cost of needed repairs at the Jeep garage was $474.15.They also noticed a leaking rear axle gasket. [redacted] claimed the entire drive train was serviced, all fluids replaced, and everything 100% correct prior to sale. They checked the battery and found it delivered less than 100 CCA under load. On the way home, I bought a new battery, for $95.39.I still have to find a [redacted] front end expert to fix the steering wheel issue. I had a mechanic look at it, and he believes the upgraded steering parts were improperly installed.  Also, I am looking for an aftermarket/used base for the driver's power seat. There will be several hundred dollars required for those repairs.Prior to sale, [redacted] assured me that he would drive the vehicle personally a few days to make sure everything was in perfect operating condition. No one who drove this vehicle a block would miss the misaligned steering wheel or the dead battery.I have attempted to contact [redacted] several times. Once, he asked for the phone number of the [redacted] garage so he could explain to them why they were wrong as he "knows Jeeps inside and out."  I sent the number, but they said he never contacted them. Since then, he does not reply to me at all,I mailed him photocopies of the garage service orders and receipt for the battery.I expect to make some repairs with a used vehicle, but I did not expect the range and quantity of problems.  All I have asked of Davis Autosports is to send the [redacted] front and cargo floor mats as included in the sale and to honor his promise to replace the battery. If he were standing behind his vehicle, he would help with some of the cost of the repairs. I see that he now has other vehicles for sale on ebay. I would caution any buyer to have an independent mechanic complete a thorough inspection and road test of anything [redacted] offers for sale.I expected to make some minor cosmetic repairs with a used vehicle, but I did not expect the range and quantity of problems.  All I have asked of Davis Autosports is to send the [redacted] front and cargo floor mats as included in the sale and as promised after delivery of the vehicle and to honor his promise to replace the battery. He does not respond.Thank you,Sincerely,
[redacted]PS I can document all repair work and the battery replacement.Ms. Smith:The sales ad was posted on the Davis Autosports website and detailed information was exchanged through a series of emails. In one, he said he would drive the vehicle as his personal car for several days to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. He could not have driven it 10 feet without noticcing the misaligned steering, and he could not have tried to start it without having to jump start the dead battery.Later in this message is a response from [redacted] to my sending him the local garage bill. The local garage found the passenger door lock actuator to be nonfunctional. I am not sure how [redacted] can say the part was not defective from hundreds of miles away without seeing or testing it.Likewise, I do not know how he is sure the spark plugs and tune-up were not needed.  I know the things the local garage fixed are working now. I have not been able to find a local garage that can repair the misaligned steering wheel. One mechanic told me that it was misaligned because the Davis aftermarket steering parts were improperly installed. In his response, he offers $95.39 battery reimbursement, finally shipping the [redacted] front and cargo mats, a replacement motor for the power seat and $75 labor, and $70 for a front end alignment. His offer totals $150.39 plus the floor and cargo mats and power seat motor. The local garage bill was $474.15, not counting the $95.39 for the battery. I still need to find an alignment shop capable of working with the aftermarket parts [redacted] installed, and a mechanic who can repair the power seat base. I will have close to $1,000 in repairs to get this vehicle to the condition it was described as.[redacted] has promised the [redacted] mats and battery several times before without sending them. I don't have great faith in his word or in the workmanship of his company.[redacted] sent the following information:  I will send funds to cover new battery and will get out mats this weeks as well. The door lock wasnt bad on the truck, it was the connector on the back from the door panel getting taken off. That is why I told you to contact me PRIOR to taking it in or having a shop do the work. The truck also wont idle correct if the battery is bad, if the spark plugs were bad, you would have a check engine light for misfire. Once again, something the shop charged you for that wasn't needed. I will also provide a motor for the front seat and $75 for labor which should cover the 1 hour labor to do it. So here is a recap.

1.Refund for Battery
2.[redacted] front mats
3. Motor for Power Seat and $75 for install
4. $70 for alignement

If you agree to the above and agree once received the items that you will contact the Revdex.com and close all cases as satisfied, I will get them out this Monday.
I don't know what can be done, but if he even honors this statement, I will be surprised. I should have never trusted him, but he is a great salesman, if unethical.William Boggs

Most of what he stated in correct. I agreed to send him the part and refund $$$ for what we agreed on. However, Im not sending parts one at a time, Im going to send all the parts at once when we get them in. I also have replied to EVERY single email and I will be more than happy to provide our entire email conversation since day 1. Not one email has EVER been ignored or not replied too. I also emailed him SEVERAL times to call me over the phone so we can get more accomplished in a conversation as oppose to back and forth emails and he has NEVER called me, not one single time. I have reached out to him numerous times. This the same guy that started 5 claims  with the Revdex.com about this one transaction, which they all turned out to be false and not the truth. At one time, he said we were fraud, I think he forget we were actually BUILDING a custom jeep for him. Custom builds dont take days to complete. His issues are minor and I told him and have it in email what we agreed too. He will have his parts and refund by mid next week when everything can get shipped at once. Is it even possible for him to have 5 claims on the same transaction?????

Davis Autosports Restoration - an account of deception and incompetence
Preface
The concept of a restoration replacing many typical worn parts in an XJ appealed to us so we put a deposit on one on the 1st of February 2017 with a 9 month completion date according to Jonathan Davis (Invoice# #0006744). From the beginning I told Jonathan I needed a Jeep that would be able to drive on 4x4 trails in California.
Among the many instances that occurred during the Build:
I wanted to use 245/74R16 BF Goodrich All terrain T/A KO2 Tires so I ask Jonathan what lift would be needed to accommodate this tire for off road use; he replied 2" and that he would recommend Old Man Emu's springs and shocks. I researched OME's products and approved the suggestion. After some weeks, Jonathan sent me an e-mail explaining that OME's 1.5 - 2" lift systems contain rear springs that provide a 3" lift and that the rear (of the jeep) would be a "tad bit higher at first". He ask what I wanted to do. I down-loaded ARB's Cherokee .pdf and e-mailed Jonathan about foot note 6: "CS033RA & CS 033RB - Extra leaf factory installed. Remove 3rd leaf from pack to reduce ride height by 1/2 - 1”. I ask him if the XJ would set level with this arrangement -he didn't respond; so I e-mailed ARB and they referred me to Dirk Sanders of DPG Off-Road. He replied :
"Yes, that coil & leaf combo should sit pretty close to level and around 2" over stock-assuming your jeep isn't loaded down with heavy accessories, bumpers, etc. My biggest concern is your tire choice. A 245/75 will rub on the fenders-especially in front- if you want to use that jeeps suspension fully. (steep driveways at an angle, larger bumps or disconnecting the sway-bar for trail use) You might consider trimming the fenders for full clearance with that tire, or consider running a 30x9.50-15 or a 235/75. 245/75's on a 2" lift will rub the fenders, even on normal street driving."
Trimming the finders would be an option and I sent an e-mail to Jonathan about what it would cost to do it, but I got no response from him. However, I figured it would not be cost-effective to do that for just 1/4" of increased ground clearance. I e-mailed Jonathan the conversation I had with Dirk and requested a change to Hankook all terrain 235/74 tires. I received no response. Later, I found out on a forum that removing the splash inserts would allow 245/75's to work on the street, but not on the trail. I dismissed Jonathan's original recommendation as simply a commitment to overstuffed wheel-wells for street chic rather than the true 4x4 trail aesthetic.
Though Jonathan always stated "Thanks for your business, if you have any other questions please let us know" however, he seldom responded to my questions. If he did reply to my questions, it was a sales pitch for something he thought he could sell us or something that should have been on the build sheet from the beginning.
I ask him to put in a OX cable locker on the Chrysler 8.25 rear differential. He replied that they only installed an Eaton Detroit Locker and he said that would meet our needs well. After reviewing several sources describing the dynamics of driving a Detroit Locker on pavement : rear wheel scrub when accelerating out of corners on the street and wider turning radius when making a turn with the gas pedal pressed on the 4x4 trails. I simply told him we'd install a manual switchable locker at a later date.

Jonathan sent me images of the build's progress that included the Dynamat Floor Pan installation. I e-mailed Jonathan back on 5/07/17 asking him about re-installation of the stock interior cargo tie downs that the factory has placed on every XJ I've seen or driven. He assured me they would be replaced in a reply on 05/10/17@12:08PM: "...Yes the tie downs will be installed."
Fly to Richmond to test drive our Jeep 17 November (9 months -2 weeks)
Davis AutoSports web-site states they would be happy to pick you up from and take you back to the airport , however, due to the schedule we came in late and the Hotel picked us up. We arranged for Jonathan to pick us up at the Hotel the next morning. Our XJ was painted well and looked great. Jonathan remarked that we could drive it and bring it back so they could take care of any problems we found before shipping it. After a short test drive around Richmond Jonathan presented us with an agreement that stated we accept the Jeep "as is". Quadratec guarantees their $2,600 rebuilt engine for 3 years with unlimited mileage. In-spite of statements made by Jonathan Davis throughout the build to the contrary, Davis Auto Sports apparently does not guarantee their $4,500 engine rebuild. We had to sign the "as is" agreement or risk losing our deposit. Jonathan doesn't stand behind his work. The guarantee listed on the web-site: "Our Full Restoration Cherokees come with a 1 year BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY and a 2 year POWERTRAIN WARRANTY." is apparently fraudulent .
With reservations made in Roanoke that night and a large deposit already made that I didn't want to lose what choice did we have? We left on a two week trip to test drive our XJ that included the Blue Ridge Parkway & the Big Level 4x4 trail. Dirk Sanders was right about the tires as no rubbing occurred and the Hankook's performed well. Two days before the end of our sojourn we sent this to Jonathan:
"I've gotten a lot of complements on the XJ's appearance...After a couple of weeks we only have a few observations that we'd like you to address before shipping it back to us:

1)please add the missing cable guides that bolt to the top of valve cover in 2 places; in addition, please secure the spark plug wire retainer at the bottom on the valve cover
2) please add the missing hood prop retainer
3) Can the window switch panel be secured tighter and aligned better to the door trim on both front doors and can the passenger hand grip be fastened straighter & tighter?
4) The build sheet contains this phrase:" ALARM WITH REMOTE START" on the first line of the $2,400 entertainment package. However, this item appears to be omitted from my build. With an XJ looking this nice, an alarm is a good thing to have.
5)Please provide a manual for the radio/navigation devise
6) Please send the extra OME leaf spring back to me with the jeep when you ship it.
7) I added a needed quart of 10/30 oil and found coiled black tape sticking out of the oil fill opening. It was saturated in oil, so I disposed of it. I placed the friction secured black plug cap back into the valve cover after adding the oil. Is this a cause for concern?
8)Can the back-up camera's red reference grid tabs be adjusted? An object to the rear reaches that tab about two feet from the back of the truck making the grid far less useful when parallel parking then we'd like it to be.
9)Did you lubricate the window lift hardware when the interior door panels were removed? The driver's window has a little shimmy when it rises. Does this mean it is going out - or simply a quirk that we can live with? "

Jonathan's reply: "We will address your concerns when you drop the Jeep back off. Shoot me your zip code and ill get you a shipping price. I'm so happy you guys are enjoying the Jeep."

After a few days on our trip I checked the oil level on our XJ and found it a quart low. After obtaining a quart of 10/30w motor oil, I attempted to screw off the oil filler cap and found it had no threads. As soon as I removed it, I discovered black tape saturated with oil protruding from the opening. I speculated that it was there to secure the push-on filler cap tightly. I disposed of the tape, added the oil and replaced the cap which offered only a small amount of resistance when I pushed it in place. The next day I checked the oil which was, to my relief fine. However, the new aluminum valve cover was covered with oil around the oil filler cap. We found a rubber band in our luggage and used it as a compressible spacer wrapping it around the cap as a temporary fix - it worked.
$487.50 was charged for removal and reinstallation of the engine which should include reassuring wiring and cables. On 7 April @ 1:56PM Jonathan sent me images of the engine installation that included an image on the throttle cable passing through a cable guide at the rear of the valve cover on the driver's side. However, when I picked up the Jeep in Richmond on the 17th of November, the cable guide had been removed (Bait & Switch). These accelerator cable guides are hard to find and are no longer available from Jeep dealers . None of the other required bracket/clamps were present and the metal spark plug wire guide was setting on top of the valve cover bolts that were intended to secure it. My wife remarked that DSA probably finished our jeep in a hurry. A professional would have apologized and offered to take care of the problem.
When we returned the jeep to Davis Auto-sports on the 29th we engaged in small-talk about our trip. However, when I tried to tell him about the leaking oil cap Jonathan become argumentative to the point of being a contrarian on every item we discussed including my tire chose and stating that DSA did not put tape anywhere and that the oil filler cap was the screw on type and demanded why I didn't twist it off. I stood my ground until Jonathan got up and quickly and went to the show room to grab a new Crown Industries valve cover box and tore it open. He found the push-on filler cap in a plastic bag and demanded an answer as to what it was. The DSA mechanic who worked on my XJ happened by and jammed the cap into its hole on the valve cover. I remarked that that one fit tightly as it would have to work properly. The mechanic told me that's why he put tape around the cap on my jeep.
I asked Jonathan what happened to my interior cargo tie downs? Refer to the 05/10/17 e-mail cited above. He replied that only 1/2 of XJ's came with them and if my XJ had them they would have been put back on. He shouldn't play poker as he has a tell when he lies. When he saw we weren't buying his answer, he seamlessly switched to rationalizing by telling us that the factory's tie downs were frail and he would place stronger D-rings in the back of our XJ.
Later, I ask for a ride back to the hotel and stated we could walk it it's any imposition. Jonathan couldn't get anyone else to take us and made a big deal of the fact that he had to be our uber driver. On the short ride to the hotel he remarked that we should express greater appreciation for him going out of his way for us - after spending over $39k in his shop!? Even a bad FCA/Jeep dealer will treat you better after the ink dried on the bill of sale if you bought a new improved Jeep Wrangler JLU. When we were back in our hotel my wife remarked she didn't want to give another one of our dollars to him.
Back in California
I spent about 5 min. on-line and forwarded this to Jonathan:
This review of Crown Industries aluminum valve cover for a 4.0 in-line 6 jeep engine reflects my experiences last week:

"I'm really happy with this product. It's well made and fits great. I will suggest that you purchase another "push in" oil plug, as the one that's included is junk"

I recounted my experiences to a friend who happens to be a retired service manager for BMW, Land Rover and various high end automobiles. He remarked that it's a shame Davis Auto Sports isn't interested in customer service. He noted that if they didn't care about what was missing in clear sight - what did they do inside the engine or inside the dash?

After two weeks, I called Jonathan and he said: "he'd get it on the board" What have they been doing for two weeks? I called him again about shipping it home 4 weeks later - he said they added the alarm he'd get a price to me for shipping. Two weeks later I left him a voice mail - no reply. I starting e-mailing him and he finely replied: " understand, I'm not just giving the Jeep to anyone. You can feel free to contact a shipping company yourself if need be." Jonathan did not mention that my list had not been addressed nor did he request additional time to complete it. After 8 weeks waiting for him to finish and get me a price for shipping, I immediately arranged shipping and e-mailed Jonathan the details and thanked him for taking care of my observations. My shopper picked it up one year after I sent my deposit.
The Jeep arrives in California:
The Jeep arrived a day earlier and the only correction DSA had made was the addition of a Viper alarm ( Item 4). All my other observations were ignored - after all, he had our money. I started ordering needed parts and making appointments with mechanics that I could trust to finish the build and fix the mistakes DSA made. I changed the oil and noticed that the sway-bar links assembly did not match the progress images he sent 06/20/17 (bait and switch). These images were obviously not of my jeep. The sway-bar link assembly I observed on my Jeep demonstrated very faulty and alarming mechanical work for a $3,200 custom suspension. This and the $2,400 alarm & entertainment system, the $2,250 A/C system and other workmanship errors are documented in the video:

**Rip Off** Artist, Stay Away ** sold me a very problematic XJ cherokee stage 3+ autosports build , blown ring and pinion, upon delivery , the truck is riddled with DL vibration and faulty workmanship, whining lightbars LEDs, improperly wired leds, heavily concealed areas of rust everywhere they could shoot the vehicle with Rhino Liner Jonathan (the owner is an artist at slinging the BS) agreed to own his mistakes but has taken no action, will not answer phone calls only texts. did not deliver vehicle as promised , broke contractual agreements and failed to deliver vehicle as described, I listed the vehicle on Ebay after buying it from them and he agreed to buy it at a 8000.00 difference in order to keep me from posting more honest reviews about him and his company, claims his reviewers are fake reviewers or internet trolls, feel free to visit his business website to see all of the misery that accompanied my purchase of the chili pepper red Jeep that he so proudly has 2 videos of on YT as well as his website, sadly they have had this particular vehicle in their possession for 2.5 years and still cannot get it right , the previous owner of the vehicle they sold me returned it to them do to problems as well, my other review of this **predatory business** is listed under reviews when you use google to search for them it shows photos and is a very detailed review of this Scam Man and his used car dealer tactics

You don't think it's ironic that all these were left on the same week? Common sense goes a long way with bogus reviews from start up competitors

+1

Don't trust Ebay reviews! Some sellers are so unscrupulous as to simply sell dozens of virtual items to "associates" in order to increase their positive feedback. The cost to such vendors are the transaction fees taken by eBay for the "sale." One can imagine that a large degree of positive feedback could be purchased very quickly using hundreds of dummy buyer accounts in this way. Unfortunately, eBay has lowered listings costs so that this type of fraud is even more attractive.u reply

Unless I don't understand the date sequence, there is over a year spread on these complaints.

Check our eBay account where you can only leave a review if you actually bought a vehicle from us, it's 100% with over 600 vehicles sold. Those are verified reviews. These sites can have 30 reviews left by the same person or competitor

Let's see, these guys are total thieves who sell rusted through XJ's that DON'T RUN and end up costing more than you could've ever imagined. As for their "Service" and "Build Packages" and pricing, ha! Those are only applicable to you, the customer, not them. See, at Davis AutoSports, they'll reserve the right to charge you the full package price, then demand that you pay separately (which is to say, again) for things like tires, or cooling systems upgrades, or any other combination of their "goods and services." If by pristine, rust free Jeeps, you mean, completely rusted through unibodies that are so compromised you can't offer Full Leaf Spring Lift Upgrades because the unibody will crumble through, and things like cracked and broken center consoles and murky oil and bog water type of cooling systems, then yeah, these Jeeps and clean, rust free and pristine. And last but not least, the great attention they'll give you before payment, is like magic, poof, be gone once you've paid! Add in, that he won't answer calls, but rather, call you back immediately and secretly record conversations, which, sounds like the practice of a shady person with a history of being caught. Which makes the "good folks down at Davis AutoSports," actually, criminals! I'd say don't waste your money, odds are good these guys are also supporting Isis or domestic terrorists, because they seem to be screwing over Americans at a rate rivaling that of such enemies of the state!
6 months, not 6 weeks to deliver. And this after having to arrange my own shipping which was never refunded, and after following up with his supposed car shipper, it turns out, he never put in the order, THEN ended up allegedly paying MY shipper extra to drive away and flee for what I discovered to be, the Jeep smoking and not running at delivery.,

I googled Davis AutoSports to find their contact info as I purchased a vehicle from them on ebay last year as I needed to get their advise on something and when I did their Revdex.com showed up. Since their Revdex.com had 2 bad reviews, I then read their google review and ebay reviews They have 99.9% on ebay and 4.5 stars out of 5 on google which kinda how I viewed them as a company. I flew in from FL last year to VA to pick up my custom [redacted] I bought from them. They were really a bunch of good guys and their facility is no fly by night place. Their shop was huge and they had a real professional setup with very nice cars. Being a business owner myself, ( I own a body shop in Tampa) I know how you really only hear about the complaints and never the good stuff. I too deal with it often and run a very reputable shop. I can tell you first hand atleast with my purchase it was very smooth and most importantly my [redacted] has been great. Just wanted to give my review.

Review: I purchased a [redacted] from Davis AutoSports 08/04/15. On the [redacted] listing they included a [redacted] video detailing everything that had been done to the [redacted] & what was included in the sale. At the 6:47 minute of the videoh[redacted] it was stated the sale included the hard windows for the front as well as the rear top with a small hole. After repeated attempts to retrieve those items I still have not received them. The value to purchase them outright is over $1000.Desired Settlement: I want what was advertised in the sale and what I paid in full for.

Of course [redacted] agreed to cancel the auction so he would not be assessed auction fees. The vehicle was listed as being in Amazing condition and one of the nicest he has ever listed. A [redacted] report was provided but it was shown as being run through a different dealership. He confirmed it was in a minor accident but no major damage was done, including no structural damage and no airbag deployment. Once I noticed that it raised concerns. I began to question the severity of the dammage and [redacted] guarunteed every panel was factory and it looked like it was in a minor fender bender. I trusted his word and he provided email confirmation that if this vehicle was not as described he would provide a full refund. Once he provided the buy back guaruntee I felt comfortable proceeding with the purchase. After receipt of the vehicle it was immediatly noticed there was much more damage than a minor accident. There was substantial body work done including spray paint covering a large rust hole on the roof and non factory bumpers attached with incorrect hardware. It was sent to a dealership for safety inspection and deemed not advised to drive. This vehicle was in a rollover and completly re painted white. VIN tags appeared to be changed which would be VIN fraud and many other cover up repairs were done. This vehicle requires more than $4,000 in repairs. Repairs include replacement of Oil pan due to a large dent in the oil pan restricting oil pressure and missing seals and bearings in rear axle. None of the damage uncovered was described and I was misled to beleive that if it was not as described he would take the vehicle back. This is Misrepresentation and false advertisement. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and God Bless BUYER BEWAREDesired Settlement: Dealership to be responsible for repairs and restitution for false advertisement/ Misrepresentation. The cost of the repairs should be paid by the dealership.

Review: Will not return deposit cannot provide title for carDesired Settlement: Return my deposit

Business

Response:

[redacted] contacted us Nov 26 about our [redacted] for sale which

was viewed on [redacted]. After a couple weeks of email exchange he agreed to purchase

the vehicle for $41,400 which covered the car, taxes, transport and fees. On Dec.

15th he signed a 4 page Contract and Bill of Sale as noted on Fax,

Page 1-4. The $500 Deposit was taken over the phone with [redacted] giving us

his credit card number over the phone with permission to run the car which was

done on 12/22/2015. [redacted] was denied a loan as seen on page 12 of the fax

after he gave us his deposit. He then tried getting a loan through other lenders

which he also got denied. After 2 weeks of apply for loans, he got approved by

a company that wanted the title first before payment was made. The company was

[redacted] of CA and we are located in Va, and the buyer is in FL so of

course we were not going to send the title to CA and the car to FL without

payment first. Out terms of sale clearly show as outlined on page 7-8 that

payments are due within7 days which buyer failed, all deposits are 100% non

refundable and title are issued up to 30 days after the purchase is completed

with payment. [redacted] by signing pages 1-4 of the contracts agrees to

everything on those pages. If you need any other info, pleas call e at [redacted]

Review: I bought a 1998 [redacted] from [redacted] @ Davis Auto Sports . He stated that the [redacted] had the black trim repainted and would never fade. I only had it two months and it is faded real bad. I have contacted him several times about this and all he does is sling the bull!! Finally he said price out the materials and send him a paypal invoice which I have now he tells me its too much $ its alittle over 120.00. thats the actual cost no labor ,he his being a real JERK and not paying. I wished I would have bought this [redacted] through [redacted] ,because he miss stated alot of things about this [redacted] including the actual mileage.Desired Settlement: Pay me for the materials that I sent him a paypal bill for ans to stop lying about his vehicles that he sells!

Business

Response:

I told the buyer I would pay for the material and he tells me close to $150 which is insane, we paint trim here at our dealer. Then I ask for an itemized list and he gives it to me. 5 cans of primer, etc etc etc. Five cans of primer for 7 tiny pieces of trim which 3 of those pieces are only 2 inches high and 24 inches long. . We do this job with 1.5 cans of primer. Then his list has 3 or 4 rolls of tape, it doesnt take that much tape to tape the entire car two times, much less trim. His cans of paint, he says cost $14 each? Really??? The most expensive trim paint at [redacted], of [redacted] is $8. Its clear it was trying to get more money and I will not have ANY part with that. He bought the [redacted] 6 Months ago, not 2. Im more than willing to help him out even though he bought the [redacted] AS_IS. What I wont do, it pay him $150 for parts that actually cost $50 IF THAT> His list also has shipping cost of $9, he can go to ANY paint or auto store to purchase these items and Im sure that is what he was doing and trying to get extra money out of the deal. I have answered all his calls and emails. and I will help him but he needs to be realistic. No other dealer would be doing this, specially 6 months after purchase.

here is the video that Davis made of my [redacted] I contacted him 2 months after buying it telling him the trim was fading ,he gave me the run around every time , after he finally decided to call me he was irate with me and told me to get prices on the materials that I was going to use and send it to paypal and he would pay. After he rejected my paypal he told me it was too much money ,I then replied to his email saying send me my materials and that would be fine but all he did was ignore ignore and lie. [redacted] told me that the trim was removed and painted and it would never fade which he was wrong it was not removed from the vehicle and it has faded worse then any original trim I have ever seen. He slings alot of crap and doesn't backup his words. As HE stated in his own video that the trim will NEVER FADE!

here is the itemized list I sent him for the material from [redacted] company not theJUNK THAT HE USES

Review: I responded to an ad on [redacted] listed by Davis Auto Sports regarding a [redacted]. I spoke with the [redacted] on the phone prior (8/22/2014) to booking a flight to Richmond, VA to purchase the van on 8/23/3014. Many of the vehicles sold by [redacted] are sold to buyers from other states who fly in to pick up the vehicle. Davis Auto Sports is located 1 mile from the airport to support this business model. When I arrived I performed an inspection of the vehicle and noticed several items that were misrepresented by the [redacted]:

1) Back shelf – I asked him about the back shelving unit because it is clear in the pictures that the shelf was disconnected and laying awkwardly on the floor in the rear of the van. His response to me was that the previous [redacted] removed and kept the top shelf and that the one in the van belonged on the floor as a lower shelf. He thought that it was designed to be about 6 inches off the floor.

Upon close examination when I was inspecting the vehicle in person, it was obvious to me that the shelf in the vehicle did not belong on the floor as he suggested, but rather belonged where the mounting holes existed about 18 inches off the floor. I was able to easily confirm this by calling the previous [redacted] who informed me that the shelf had been moved to the floor by them because it was easier for them to load and unload cargo from the back. All of the mounting hardware was present in the vehicle and within 15 minutes, I was able to install the shelf where it belonged. My concern – he is an automotive professional who is in the business of customizing, repairing and selling all types of vehicles. This is something that he should have figured out quickly and resolved prior to attempting to sell the vehicle.

2) Rear A/C and Heat - before making an offer on the vehicle, I asked him if the van had rear A/C and heat. While on the phone with me, he checked the van and confirmed that it did indeed have that feature. Had it not, I would have not made him an offer on the van. When I arrived in Richmond, I discovered that the rear AC did not work.

This presents a similar situation to the back shelf. I think that he should have been aware of the vehicles features, equipment and options and their condition prior to your attempt to sell the vehicle.

While on site and after making a call to the previous [redacted], I was made aware that they were having problems with the AC/Heat unit and the entertainment system so they disconnected those components quite some time ago. It came to my attention while in his shop that he asked his "12-volt guy" to reconnect the entertainment system on Friday evening before my arrival on Saturday morning.

My concern – I think that he should have been aware of the vehicles features, equipment and options and their condition prior to your attempt to sell the vehicle. As it turned out, the [redacted] and his "12-volt guy" were not aware that the AC/Heat unit needed attention prior to my arrival which resulted in a scramble to repair this important feature.

3) Power locks - during my inspection I discovered that the power locks did not work. Neither the key fob nor the interior button on the dash worked and, because the doors don't have a manual lock button, the only way to lock and unlock the doors is with the key.

My concern – I think that he should have been aware of the vehicles features, equipment and options and their condition prior to your attempt to sell the vehicle. The power lock failure should have been disclosed or fixed.

4) Front bumper - while on the phone with the [redacted] prior to my visit, I asked about the front bumper. I had noticed on a photo in his ad that it appeared to be slightly crooked or misaligned. While on the phone with me, he physically inspected the bumper and assured me that it was installed properly and was firmly in place. Upon my own inspection, I discovered that the bumper was loose on the passenger side and slightly lower than the drivers side - clearly not in its original condition.

The [redacted] was not present when I arrived and did not make an appearance during the 2.5 hours that I was in his shop. After 2 hours of watching his technicians attempt to fix the AC unit, I lost all confidence in the deal and backed out. They refunded my deposit and drove me back to the airport where I booked a flight home.

Here is the account of the emails that were sent back and forth between me and the [redacted] in an attempt to make things right:

8/25/2014 - I emailed the [redacted] my concerns and asked him to consider how he might rectify the situation

8/26/2014 - He replied to inform me that he would reply in full at a later time

8/28/2014 - I emailed him to tell him that I was looking forward to his response

9/1/2014 - I emailed him to let him know that I would be taking a different approach if I did not hear from him by 9/3/2014

9/1/2014 - He emailed me asking me what I thought he should do to make things right. He asked if me if I wanted him to pay for my plane ticket.

9/1/2014 - I suggested that he offer me an apology and reimburse me for my expenses that day

9/5/2014 - He asked me how much my flight cost

9/5/2014 - I responded with that information: $341.70

9/13/2014 - I asked him when he would be sending me the reimbursement for my flights

9/13/2014 - He said that he never offered to reimburse me

9/13/2014 - I asked if he intended to reimburse me

9/25/2014 - I asked him to reply to my last question about reimbursement

10/20/2014 - As of this date, I have not hear from himDesired Settlement: As already requested, I would like an apology and a reimbursement for my airfare in the amount of $341.70

The following experience will show that Davis Auto Sports, and it's owner, Jonathon D[redacted], cannot be trusted when purchasing a vehicle. I have all correspondence documented, including all emails, videos, and text messages with Jonathon D[redacted] and Davis Auto Sports to collaborate that what I am saying is 100% true. I am usually not one to complain, but my experience with Davis Auto Sports was so bad, I had to make sure everyone else knows about my experience,
I purchased a 2001 [redacted] from Jonathon D[redacted] at Davis Auto Sports and paid him $49,429 on November 21, 2014. According to my invoice, it was supposed to include new Davis Auto Sports installed Ricaro seats, front and rear sway bars, and an installed roll cage. I did not receive the car for over two months. It finally was delivered on February 2, 2014. This was because there were many delays with the installation of the promised seats, sway bars, roll cage as promised. When I finally received the car it sputtered badly on my first test drive off the delivery truck. I have video and text records to prove the issues with the car.
Speaking with Jonathon D[redacted] the next day, he said the car ran perfect when it left his shop, and blamed the car misfires on mass air flow, my driving, gas octane. He denied there were any problems with the car. He also did not include the promised roll cage in the car that I had paid $750 as shown on my receipt. He would not give me a credit for the cage. Trying to hope for the best I spent another $1500 to have new coils and plugs installed in the car. This still did not remedy the serious miss fire problem.
I have original records to prove the description provided on eBay by Jonathon D[redacted], by way of text and by way of his video presentation of the 2001 [redacted] in which Jonathon D[redacted] describes the car, "pristine in every aspect for the year and mileage. The previous owner took AMAZING care of this vehicle both cosmetically and more importantly mechanically. This car looks and drive great." There is lot more that I can include regarding his misleading description of the vehicle. If anyone would like to see any more of the details regarding the claims and descriptions made by D[redacted], I will gladly provide them.
After continuing to be told by Jonathon D[redacted] that the car was in perfect condition when it left his shop, I decided to send the car the best [redacted] engine specialist in the US. After receiving the car, he was able to diagnose the exact problem with the car. What was found was the sway bars had been installed incorrectly and the attachment bolts had not been checked for clearance by David Auto Sports mechanics. Prior to me receiving the car, the bolts had compressed and moved to during cornering which resulted in the bolt heads severing holes in both side of the Turbo intake pipes. This resulted in metal shavings being ingested into the engine and the cylinders were scoured as a result. This resulted in the car seriously miss firing. I have pictures to show these holes and other problems with the cars motor.
Since this time I have am having the [redacted] engine completely overhauled to new condition by one of the best [redacted] engine builders in America who's reputation is highly regarded. After examining all elements of the engine after tear down, it was evident this engine had been tampered with before and driven very hard as several of the connecting rods were seriously bent, and many other aspects of the engine showed heavy wear. I have pictures to prove it.
In the end Davis denied these problems existed and he tried to blame the holes in the turbo intake pipes on the transport company, saying the cinched the car down to far and that resulted in the holes in the intake pipes. Unfortunately, my engine builder who diagnosed the problem had already tried to see if this was possible, and the car could not be strapped that tight to cause the damage.
This was all a lie. In further investigation, I was able to track down the previous owner of the [redacted], he was a dealer in New Jersey who sold the [redacted] at auction to Davis. He told me that the car had serious issues mechanically. That is why the his customer traded the car to him for another vehicle. Because the car needed lots of money invested, he auctioned it, and Davis Auto Sports purchased it and sold it to me as being in pristine condition.
Not only that, after speaking to Jonathon D[redacted] about the cars condition and asking him to make fair reparations, he refused to do anything, and he still refused to refund the $750 dollars that I paid him for roll cage that I never received. I have done business with lots of people in my life and this is one of most unethical and dishonest people I have ever dealt with. I am writing this so that everyone who is considering buying a vehicle from Davis Auto Sports is warned. Before you purchase a car, or make a deposit on a car from Jonathon D[redacted] at Davis Auto Sports, you better have it closely examined and tested by a high performance mechanic or dealer. D[redacted] is buying most of his cars at auction at suppressed prices, then cleaning them up and hyping them, in hopes that he will find a trusting buyer. This [redacted] purchase was a car I waited a long time to purchase and I hoped to keep and pass down to my son. Jonathon D[redacted] knew this from the beginning and did not care. Anyway, I am having the cars engine completely rebuilt and it will be like new, and I will have an amazing car, but the major cost was unexpected. I would stay clear of Davis Auto Sports. You cannot believe anything they say about their vehicles. There are many other dealer out there.

Review: I inquired about a [redacted] the seller had for sale. I spoke to the [redacted] (**) who reassured me the touch had no "rust issues". The car fax also indicated a rear end collision but the owner also reassured me that the ham age was minimal and there was no damage other than a replacement rear bumper. I bought the truck "as is" due to the reassurance from ** of the excellent condition of the truck. Upon inspection of the truck when it was delivered to Florida, I noticed a significant amount of rust on the rear part of the frame. I also noticed that the two driver side doors were misaligned to the point that the driver door protruded out about 1/2" further than the body and it barely latched. The top of the rear driver side door was misaligned and was rubbing the top of the cab. The bed of the truck was also misaligned and a further inspection revealed that the bed mounts were pushed forward not allowing the bed to properly line up with the cab. There were obvious signs that the frame was bent and was straightened on a frame machine. None of these issues were disclosed during negotiations and the owner refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing when I contacted him. He further stated via text that he did not have time to deal with my complaints.Desired Settlement: Due to the many issues this vehicle had, I decided I did not want to keep the vehicle. I ended up selling the vehicle for a $4000 loss. If the owner decides to do the right thing and refund part of what I lost on this deal, I would accept any partial refund or at least an apology for knowingly misleading me on the condition of the vehicle.
