Davis Autosports Reviews (47)

Review: I purchased a [redacted] from [redacted] of [redacted] Autosports, LLC via [redacted]. The vehicle was represented to be in "Showroom Condition". Upon delivery of the vehicle, it was immediately noticed that the undercarriage of the vehicle had a lot of rust and corrosion. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who inspected the vehicle. He determined that the vehicle had so much rust, to the point of rusted out frame supports, wheel bearings and the frame itself that the vehicle is unsound and unsafe to operate. He also said that the outside of the vehicle frame had been spray painted black to hide the rusted out condition of the vehicle. I've requested that Mr. [redacted] cancel the transaction and return my money, he said he would respond to me but has yet to do so. From reading the other complaints on this "business" it would appear that dishonesty and trickery is just part of a days work at [redacted] Autosports, LLCDesired Settlement: Cancel the transaction and refund my money..

Business

Response:

I would like to start off by giving you a little history on

our dealer just to give you some insight on us. We sell absolutely top quality

vehicles as seen on our website, www.[redacted]AutoSports.com. We are not your

typical used car lot we specialize in unique finds, performance vehicles, and

vehicles that would be hard to find elsewhere. We have a VERY strict guideline

we follow tor all cars we buy and sell. We have a 100% feedback rating on [redacted]

(prior to Mr. [redacted] feedback, its now at 99.6%) as well as a Platinum Power

Seller Status which is the highest standard can get. We have sold over 600 cars

on [redacted] with so to maintain that feedback is VERY difficult. The reason I bring

up our [redacted] rating, Is that is our ONLY method of selling/advertising cars as

we do not advertise on ANY other sites. We sell about 30·35 cars a month and

95% of those vehicle are bought sight unseen, that same method that Mr. [redacted]

bought list our vehicle with over 100 HD pictures, 10·20 minute HD Videos, 5

paragraphs of content, [redacted] reports, etc. I get emails every day with people

saying they have never seen vehicles advertised like ours. With that said, I

would like to show you his listing that he purchased the [redacted] so you can see

for yourself how nice this truck is Direct listing for [redacted] on [redacted]. As you

see by the photos, video, [redacted], and content, this is an excellent condition

vehicle. [redacted] claim is that we fraudulently misrepresented the

condition of the vehicle which is clearly not the truth. Our business really

relies on feedback and previously sold vehicles so if that was our practice in

this case or any other case we would not be In business. Every single

transaction on [redacted] is noted from both buyer and seller unlike must vehicle

purchases, the public has no Idea on how the transaction went There are a few

things I would like to bring to your attention. 1. As stated in section 4 of

the complaint, we described the vehicle as being "Gorgeous and Stunning•

and we still stand behind that. As shown in the 150 pictures and the HD video,

the truck is clearly gorgeous and stunning. Later ls states this is a one owner

vehicle. Mr. [redacted] states that is a lie and Its a 5 owner vehicle. Well, that

is the lie, I have [redacted] the [redacted] report which clearly shows its a CERTIFIED

ONE OWNER TRUCK. I think that alone should gel his dismissed as he is clearly

already showing he Is the one not being honest. (The carf8JC is also faxed to

your) Mr. [redacted] knows for sure it was a ONE OWNER be I email him a [redacted] report

and it was listed on [redacted] at the time of purchase. He is simply being dishonest

to try and make is case stronger and discredit my dealer and honesty. 2. AJI

info given in this section is absolutely provable by emails exchanges. When Mr.

[redacted] received the vehicle, his immediate emails for the next few days didn't

speak of any concerns with the truck condition wise, they are just questions concerning

the extra key. It wasn't until he brought the truck to a mechanic to look it

over as to hearing about rust. His mechanic told him the brakes system had rust

and needs to be replaced. I have the report from the mechanic and he actually

states word or word," THE TRUCK REALLY DOES RUN WELL, THE BRAKE SYSTEM

MUST BE SOLID TO AND RELIABLE FOR SAFTEYS SAKE" • When this was told to

me, l knew the buyer had some sort of buyers remorse or the mechanic was try to

take advantage of him to some degree ... If you notice In inspection by his

mechanic, there was not notes about brake lines leaking, rotors warped, pad

measurement, etc. There was NO real reasoning to replace all those Items, He

stated the pads needed to be replaced due to rust, pads can't rust, they are

not metal. ... After getting the overpriced and Inflated estimate for repairs,

I told Mr. [redacted] that I was willing to work with him so both parties were happy,

I told him that in email and over the phone. Over the phone, I told him I would

provide brake parts myself ( due to inflated cost of his mechanic that clearly

overcharged for the estimates, his prices are about 40% over typical retail

prices) I told him I would provide parts and he could cover labor. I thought

that was more than fair, be the vehicle was described correctly (which I’ll go

over below) and the parts were not truly in need of replacing. To make the

customer happy I was willing to take the hit. The estimate was $3700 just for

brakes which of course is Insane. When I offered to replace those items of

concern, he simply refused which clearly showed me those were not actual

concerns. 3. VERY IMPORTANT· Due to 95% of our customers not seeing the vehicle

In person before purchasing the vehicle we have carefully selected how we

advertise. As shown In our listings we go above and beyond with our

presentation and detail to description. We are absolutely as honest as can be

but buying a car and selling a car sight unseen can and Is very difficult. That

Is why we have our terms of sales posted in every listing Including this

listing for the [redacted] as well as buyer recommendations. For example, my

personal opinion of great condition could be different than your opinion of

great condition, since we realize not everyone views things In the same manor

we have the following In the listings: I have BOLDED sentences that pertain to

this claim. A: AU vehicles are sold AS-IS with NO Warranty unless noted

differently above. We sell late model, low mileage vehicles that may still have

existing manufacturer's warranty. All inspections must be completed and

We will gladly take the vehicle to your choice of inspection station within 30

mins of our dealership. Additional keys, owners manuals, key jobs, CD

be up to 1000 miles more that listed above but is typically only up to 100

miles more than listed above. We reserve the right to notify bidders and cancel

this auction. We reserve the right to cancel bids from those with excessive

negative feedback. Please email or call us if you have negative feedback or

zero feedback prior to bidding. 'Zero feedback bidders who don't contact us

transaction. We shall gladly refund your deposit IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT AS

DESCRIBED. If your vehicle is shipped and upon it's arrival, if it not as

described we will gladly accept the vehicle back for a 100% refund of the

vehicle price ONLY if the vehicle remains with the transportation company. TM

vehicle Must remain with the shipping company in these cases. Buyer pays for

all shipping charges. Please expect wear associated with age, miles, and

vehicle history. We d6 our very best kl describe the actual condition of each

to accurately describe our vehicles condition with photos and text. The content

in this listing is subjective and should be used as a guide to determine a vehicles

condition prior to bidding. If you do not see something photographed or

Response:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]Regards,[redacted] It is indeed unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] continues down his path of deception and fraud. Mr. [redacted] knows, full well, that he used black spray paint to paint the outside of the frame of the vehicle to fraudulently misrepresent the true condition of the vehicle. His amateur use of the black spray paint on the outside of the frame even crossed over onto one of the rear shock absorbers of the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] calls into reference his wonderful [redacted] ad of the vehicle and the voluminous pictures that were in the ad, unfortunately he did not include any pictures of the undercarriage of the vehicle which would have shown the deplorable and unsafe condition the vehicle was in. The level of fraud and deceit shown by Mr. [redacted] is, in fact, criminal and is being prosecuted as such. Mr. [redacted]' reply offers no resolution to this issue but instead continues his methodical betrayal of common decency, honesty and integrity.

Review: Located a [redacted] I wanted to purchase on [redacted]. It was advertised in amazing condition. I was the high bidder for awhile, then was outbid. I contacted the seller and we agreed on a price if I became the high bidder. I did so and he ended the auction early. I paid the full amount plus 50% of the credit card fees as I was using an [redacted] card. $11118.00 in total. I made plans to drive down that Friday and pick the [redacted] up. I got there, it looked great, very clean, new wheels, tires, and lift. We signed all of the paperwork and off I went. I got onto the highway about 20 minutes later for the 300 mile drive home and the [redacted] was shaking terribly at any speed over 50 mph and AC was blowing warm. I went back to the dealership and I told him([redacted]) I didn't want the [redacted]. He said no no, lets take a look at it. I said again, I don't want it. He wasn't having it as the paperwork was signed. So it turned out the front wheels were not balanced and the AC had no refrigerant in the system. So they balanced the tires and charged the air. However, the wheels were out of alignment so he gave me $100 to have it fixed. The ad stated the wheels were aligned, the AC is ICE COLD. So I made the ride home, it was rattling, noisy, bangs in the steering column, and pulling all over the road the entire way. AC seemed ok for the time being. The next time I got in the Jeep, the AC was blowing warm air again. [redacted] still drove awful. I didn't dive it for a few days as I felt it wasn't safe, I drove one of my other vehicles. I took it to the shop for an alignment and was told it needed ball joints before the alignment can be done. I had the ball joints done and the alignment, however the shop told me that the lift and entire steering system was very loose and the [redacted] required a shop that specializes in lifted vehicles to correct and that the alignment may not hold. That trip was about $700. I took it to the specialist in the area and they told me the entire [redacted] suspension, steering, etc was dangerously loose. They went through the entire vehicle, tightened everything up, aligned the wheels, replaced a squealing belt and tensioner, and also recharged the AC....again. That trip was over $400. During this entire time I was in contact with [redacted] via text message. He did offer to send ball joints, but that doesn't help me as that's a job I cannot perform myself and mechanics typically don't let you supply your own parts as they mark them up somewhat. So the [redacted] charge ended up getting declined as [redacted] does not allow the full purchase of a vehicle on the card. So he ran $5500 of it, but was unable to run the balance. As soon as he let me know, I sent him a check for the balance immediately. So being that the [redacted] was only charge for about 50% of the vehicle, he owed me a refund for the 50% of the charges I agreed to pay. $115. I also texted him about all of the issues the [redacted] had which I will list below, but I only asked for $500 + my $115 refund for the over $1000 I put into the [redacted] since purchasing. He agreed and asked me to send him the receipts which I did the following day from work. After going back and forth for another 2 weeks with him, he sends me $300 via [redacted]. He said he didn't get all of the invoices. I sent them all in the same fax and got a receipt that transmission was successful. He got them. Anyway, I have the entire [redacted] ad advertising this [redacted]. It basically says it's perfect. I am not asking him to pay for everything wrong with it, I was asking for 50% of what I spent up to that point and my [redacted] refund. These are the current and some repaired issues with the [redacted] that was advertised as "If you want a cheap [redacted], this is NOT the one for you". -Lift and Steering a total mess-(local shop said cheap and installed terribly)(I paid to fix)- -Ball Joints-(I paid to fix)- -Belt-(I paid to fix)- -Tensioner-(I paid to fix)- -A/C Still not working after 2 recharges(one at his shop, one at mine)(I paid to fix, still not fixed)- -Steering Knuckle Stripped where Brake Caliper Attaches-Not fixed- -Rear Main Seal Oil Leak-Can't afford to fix- -Water pump weeping(first sign it needs replacing)- -Engine light on(came on today, no idea what it is, will leave parked until I get it looked at) -Passenger power window switch broken- -Taillight housing cracked near mount(shaking)- -Nasty rattle when accelerating from a stop from underneath- -Both Front Speakers are not working- That's all that comes to mind at the moment, but each day something new shows up wrong with this lemon. [redacted] will and has said it was as advertised, etc, etc, etc. Same old story from a car dealer. This vehicle was NOT as advertised. That's a long list of issues for a "perfect" vehicle. He sent me home on a 300 mile trip in a dangerous vehicle with my daughter in the [redacted] with me. He doesn't care, it's all about the money.Desired Settlement: I would like the balance of the $615 we agreed upon. He gave me $300 hoping I will go away. For what I paid for this [redacted], he's getting off easy.

Business

Response:

Alot of what was said is true. First and foremost, this [redacted] WAS NOT paid for UNTIL the buyer inspected it and drove it. Yes the buyer and I agreed that we would split the cost of the [redacted] fee but what he doesnt understand is we didnt charge the entire amount of the $11,000 (like we agreed to at first) we only charged half so there was only half of the original fee. He is thinking he is entitled to half of the $11,000 fee when infact it is half of $5500 bc that is all that was charged. Also, the buyer had only paid $5500 and paid the other $5500 AFTER owning the [redacted] for over 10 days. He is correct about the the front wheels not being balanced on his test drive, so we balanced them and it solved the issue and he was very happy. The AC was blowing warm like he said on his test drive. We hooked the AC up to a $7500 AC computer and tested the system right in front on him and it passed the leak test, we added freon as it was low and the AC blew ICE cold and he was happy with that. The alignment was off slightly and I gave him $100 or $150 right then and there for an alignment (remind you this was a LIFTED truck with much bigger suspension than stock and bigger tires) Those trucks ride rough due to the nature of the lift kit and larger tires ) Up to this point, everything was going smoothly between us. About 3 weeks of owning the truck, he text me and said his ball joints are bad and the AC was blowing warm. I told him to get it checked out and let me know what they say. He came back with worn ball joints and they needed to get replaced. I told him to fax me the bill and I would look at it. He faxed me the bill and the shop was charging him a ton of money of the parts. I told him I would supply the parts and he pretty much denied that. I wasn't going to pay 3X more for ball joints, thats just insane. At this point I was willing to be very helpful, until I received another fax from him with 2 forms, one being an INVOICE for $400 from one shop and another being an ESTIMATE for $700 from ANOTHER shop . Ironically, they both had the same items on there for repair, they both had ball joints and they both had alignments on them. There is no way he was getting ball joints done at 2 different shops and getting 2 alignments. Not to mention I already gave hime $100 or $150 that day he picked up the [redacted] for an alignment. I told him to send me an actual INVOICE not an ESTIMATE which he DID NOT. He then texted me cursing me out, insulting my mechanic, etc. All new lift kits that are installed on trucks need to be re-torqued after 200-300 miles, everything is new and has to "settle" as thats not the way the truck was designed from the factory. I actually refunded him $300 AFTER he insulted my shop, my business, and pretty much threaten me. he could only provide $400 worth of services performed and $100 of it was an alignment which I already paid him, so really his bill was $300 and that is why I refunded him $300. I went above and beyond what I needed to specially after the insults which I still have saved on my phone. No other dealer what have given this guy a dime. The fact that he even started this claim, blows my mind. He is actually still asking for half of an [redacted] fee of $11,000 which never even took place.

Review: I purchased a 1[redacted] with custom options from Davis Autosports, [redacted]. Sales price included vehicle, custom options, and delivery. [redacted] has failed to deliver the vehicle, will not provide a definite delivery date, and refuses to refund the $12,700 payment.Desired Settlement: Since [redacted] does not respond to requests for delivery information, I would simply like to cancel the deal and get a full refund.

Business

Response:

I called the business and he said that he was never going to be responsible with the transportation, they were hired to build the vehicle. The vehicle is built and it has been posted on [redacted] to be transported. this business is not responsible for the time it takes [redacted], that is a different company. He cannot forced that business to speed up that process, since it has been posted with the transportation route, it is then up to a transporter to pick the job and move the vehicle, there is no time frame on this part. The customer can fly into the business to get the vehicle or can hire his own company to move the vehicle. The customer was provided with a screen shot of the post and at that time the customer said he felt better at that but then complaint after it was still taking too long.

Regards,

When I purchased the vehicle, I said I would need it to be transported. [redacted] said that was included in the sales price. I was never made aware that he considered his responsibility limited to building the vehicle. I told him from the beginning that I was unable to travel to pick it up. He emailed me last week, saying that he would make phone calls June 2, 2014 to expedite the shipping process. The company he mentions as a shipper is an online bulletin board that may or may not receive a response. He still has the vehicle and payment in full.

Consumer

Response:

Finally, [redacted] has arranged shipping. I spoke with the car hauler, and he said he would deliver at 7 AM Monday, June 30. If the vehicle is complete as described will be satisfied and have no further complaint.

At one time [redacted] said he was hired to build the vehicle and when that was complete his responsibility was done. However, he had included delivery charges in the purchase price and had agreed to arrange shipping. Finally, he honored that promise.

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards,

Continuing my problems with [redacted] (Davis Autosports) of Richmond, VA. He did finally arrange shipping of the [redacted] The battery was dead on arrival and had to be jumped to unload it.

I noted the following problems:

The steering wheel is 90 degrees right out of line. Driving straight, the steering wheel is sideways.

The right front power door lock did not work

The front power windows chattered

The driver's power seat does not function

The engine would not idle and stalled when cold

The left front tire rubs the control arm on tight turns

The [redacted] floor mats for front seats and cargo area were missing

I contacted Mr. [redacted] via email, and he agreed to send the [redacted] front floor mats and rear cargo mat immediately. He also said if the battery was bad, he would send a replacement immediately. The battery terminals were scraped up on delivery, indicating that it had been jump started a lot before it was shipped.

I replied that I would appreciate his sending the floor and cargo mats, but if he would just reimburse me his cost for a new battery he would avoid the shipping costs for something so heavy.

I took the vehicle to [redacted]. They diagnosed a defective door lock actuator. I contacted [redacted], and he replied that there was nothing wrong and the garage was just ripping me off. They installed a new lock actuator, and the lock works now.

They inspected and lubricated the front power window assemblies. They got them to work but recommended waiting for complete failure because of the expense of replacing the mechanisms.

The spark plugs were bad and were replaced. This coupled with a throttle body cleaning cured the stalling problem.

They were unable to put the vehicle on their alignment machine to correct the steering wheel issue.

They estimated the repair of the driver's seat power base unit to be $1,500. I told them not to fix this. [redacted] said he has this part in stock, but he will not even quote me a price for the part.

The total cost of needed repairs at the Jeep garage was $474.15.

They also noticed a leaking rear axle gasket. [redacted] claimed the entire drive train was serviced, all fluids replaced, and everything 100% correct prior to sale.

They checked the battery and found it delivered less than 100 CCA under load. On the way home, I bought a new battery, for $95.39.

I still have to find a [redacted] front end expert to fix the steering wheel issue. I had a mechanic look at it, and he believes the upgraded steering parts were improperly installed. Also, I am looking for an aftermarket/used base for the driver's power seat. There will be several hundred dollars required for those repairs.

Prior to sale, [redacted] assured me that he would drive the vehicle personally a few days to make sure everything was in perfect operating condition. No one who drove this vehicle a block would miss the misaligned steering wheel or the dead battery.

I have attempted to contact [redacted] several times. Once, he asked for the phone number of the [redacted] garage so he could explain to them why they were wrong as he "knows Jeeps inside and out." I sent the number, but they said he never contacted them. Since then, he does not reply to me at all,

I mailed him photocopies of the garage service orders and receipt for the battery.

I expect to make some repairs with a used vehicle, but I did not expect the range and quantity of problems. All I have asked of Davis Autosports is to send the [redacted] front and cargo floor mats as included in the sale and to honor his promise to replace the battery.

If he were standing behind his vehicle, he would help with some of the cost of the repairs. I see that he now has other vehicles for sale on ebay. I would caution any buyer to have an independent mechanic complete a thorough inspection and road test of anything [redacted] offers for sale.I expected to make some minor cosmetic repairs with a used vehicle, but I did not expect the range and quantity of problems.

All I have asked of Davis Autosports is to send the [redacted] front and cargo floor mats as included in the sale and as promised after delivery of the vehicle and to honor his promise to replace the battery.

He does not respond.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

PS I can document all repair work and the battery replacement.

Ms. Smith:

The sales ad was posted on the Davis Autosports website and detailed information was exchanged through a series of emails. In one, he said he would drive the vehicle as his personal car for several days to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. He could not have driven it 10 feet without noticcing the misaligned steering, and he could not have tried to start it without having to jump start the dead battery.

Later in this message is a response from [redacted] to my sending him the local garage bill.

The local garage found the passenger door lock actuator to be nonfunctional. I am not sure how [redacted] can say the part was not defective from hundreds of miles away without seeing or testing it.

Likewise, I do not know how he is sure the spark plugs and tune-up were not needed. I know the things the local garage fixed are working now.

I have not been able to find a local garage that can repair the misaligned steering wheel. One mechanic told me that it was misaligned because the Davis aftermarket steering parts were improperly installed.

In his response, he offers $95.39 battery reimbursement, finally shipping the [redacted] front and cargo mats, a replacement motor for the power seat and $75 labor, and $70 for a front end alignment.

His offer totals $150.39 plus the floor and cargo mats and power seat motor.

The local garage bill was $474.15, not counting the $95.39 for the battery. I still need to find an alignment shop capable of working with the aftermarket parts [redacted] installed, and a mechanic who can repair the power seat base. I will have close to $1,000 in repairs to get this vehicle to the condition it was described as.

[redacted] has promised the [redacted] mats and battery several times before without sending them. I don't have great faith in his word or in the workmanship of his company.

[redacted] sent the following information:

I will send funds to cover new battery and will get out mats this weeks as well. The door lock wasnt bad on the truck, it was the connector on the back from the door panel getting taken off. That is why I told you to contact me PRIOR to taking it in or having a shop do the work. The truck also wont idle correct if the battery is bad, if the spark plugs were bad, you would have a check engine light for misfire. Once again, something the shop charged you for that wasn't needed. I will also provide a motor for the front seat and $75 for labor which should cover the 1 hour labor to do it. So here is a recap.

Attempted to purchase [redacted] from Davis Auto Sales. Was given bottom line price. Was able to get necessary funding to meet their bottom line. [redacted] is still for sale on Website but was told I have to pay an additional $1000.00. Have communications to show bottom line price but he mentioned he was adding new tires which 4 previous listing state and show new tires and I would be fine with ones in listing. He tried another excuse stating recent [redacted] values in last 10 days. Mentioned it was unprofessional as I sold my truck to meet his price. We went back and forth with each of his excuses which showed a lack of character. Any one interested in communications with this group are welcome to it as I'm 58 year old 33 year public servant and heard just about every explanation, just was attempting to purchase for my college graduate son. Should have been a good experience but instead turned into a classless act. My promise is to reach every media possible for this to reviewed. If I can stop one sale it would be worth it as it was a slap in the face from 200 miles away.
