Days Inn & Suites Reviews (45)

Review: On Saturday, June 7, 2014 I checked into this motel with a few friends for a weekend getaway from Chicago. I have never visited Wisconsin before. My friends and I arrived back to the hotel about 11:30pm that night. As we were enjoying ourselves in our room we heard a knock on the door. I was in the restroom so was unable to answer. My friends were not going to answer the door as it was my room. When I got out the restroom to check the door no one was there. Shortly after we got a phone call from the front desk about a noise complaint. The gentleman on the phone was very rude and stated he had a noise complaint from our room and the next person we would be talking to is the MPD (Milwaukee Police Department), have a great night. After letting that settle for a little while I called back to the front desk to ask for the gentleman name. Unsurprisingly he answered and I asked for his name. He said "My name is [redacted]" I asked if he was the manager and he said yes. I asked [redacted] for his last name and he said "You don't need my last name. Keep the noise down." I said okay and ended the call. I feel this was very rude, uncommon for a hotel manager to not give his first and last name if asked by a guest. I also feel that telling me via telephone that if there is another complaint they were calling the MPD. I don't feel I was given a fair opportunity to resolve the issue. I did not know the walls were so thin that our neighbors could hear our conversations. We were not playing any music, just talking.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my stay as I was not a satisfied customer and did not have a pleasant stay after the confrontation with [redacted]. I feel like I was treated as a child when we are both equally adults.

While searching for a disability accessible hotel with disability accessible rooms in Stevens Point, WI, we came across Days Inn & Suites (aka Stays Inn). Their website claims entrances are wheelchair accessible as well as having disability accessible rooms (2 queen beds or 1 king bed). When we called the they confirmed they have accessible rooms with walk-in showers. They wouldn't confirm whether a shower bench or chair is provided. Yet, on their website they show a shower with a transfer bench.
When we arrived there the doors were not accessible. They are very narrow. Someone else had to pull or push me through the door. It was impossible to get through the first door before the second door had to be opened. I was stuck in between the doors. Once I finally got to the room the doors are just as narrow. I could only get my wheelchair in as far as the first bed due to the minimal pathway they would provide. A wheelchair cannot fit in the bathroom due to the small size of the bathroom. They had so-called safety bars in the bathroom that were of no assistance. There was a small one below the toilet paper, one a bit longer in front of it, one placed diagonally on the wall behind the toilet. Another bar was placed on the inside wall of the shower as well as one on the inside of the bath tub. There was no walk-in shower. The shower head is so high, there is no way to access it.
They continue to advertise that they have accessible rooms and accessible entrances. Yet, a staff member stated they have no disability accessible rooms in the entire hall.

Review: I made a reservation for this hotel with Hotels.com. At that time the reservation was paid for thru that website. We then went to the hotel, and because they need a card usually for incidentals or other charges, I gave them my debit card to use. The clerk must have been a newer employee because she seemed to have a lot of trouble checking us in. After the first night there, my wife checked our balance on our bank account to discover that the hotel ( guessing the clerk who checked us in) charged us not once but two different amounts on room rates! One amount was for $144.56, and the other was for $156.06. Additionally, they charged us $20 extra for a rollaway bed that we'd already been charged for as well!

As soon as we discovered the extra charges at about 9:30 that night, I immediately went to the front desk to question it, they told me at that time, there was nothing they could do about it, and we would have to speak with the manager. We were told he'd stepped away for about an hour. We left a message for him to contact me that night. I did not hear from him. We went the next morning, because we were checking out later, and we again told he was not in, but should be in by 11 am. We were going to be gone at that time, and left another message to call us immediately! We have not heard from the manager yet, and this has been since Friday. We have called numerous times throughout Friday, and rest of the weekend, to be told either he wasn't in, or was busy. We have bills to pay with this money, and have not been able to get a hold of anyone.Desired Settlement: We would like to see not only our money refunded for the extra charges, but also a refund of the nights we've stayed there, given the problems we've had in trying to get this resolved!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

I planned on staying at this hotel for 4 days due to renovations at my home. The hotel online is a completely different hotel that you walk into. When I got to my room it looked old and even though the pillows were neatly placed the room didn't seem right. My niece discovered a stain on the bedsheet, the floor was not vacuumed, there was a stain on the night stand, the chair was falling apart, and it looked as though it had not been dusted ever. If it were not so late at our arrival I would've left then. The very next morning we checked out and I told them I would not be staying the other 3 days. The receptionist told me that I would be refunded the 3 nights and to call Hotwire to make sure it was cancelled on that end too. I did that and when the guy from Hotwire called the hotel she tells him that I would only be refunded 2 nights. The reason I left was because it was not up to par and no one should stay there. And they want to keep my money. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there. It's terrible and dirty and the staff if crappy.
