                  Dear Ms. [redacted], This letter is in response to the complaint # [redacted] by [redacted]. By way of background, Defenders, Inc.  DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT.   In summary, Ms. [redacted] states that ADT is no longer able to communicate with her alarm system and would like released from her contract and refunded based on ADT’s six month money back guarantee. She states that when she called in to process this, she was advised that Protect Your Home does not honor this and she will be held to the termination charges on her contract.   Ms. [redacted] contracted services with Protect Your Home on August 10, 2016 and did contact us within a six month window to terminate her services. I contacted ADT and they confirmed that one of their technicians went out to her home and was unable to resolve the communication issues caused by a recent upgrade to her local cell towers. With this information, I honored a release from contract, system pull, and refund. The equipment has already been returned and her refunds are now pending. When speak to Ms. [redacted] about the six month money back guarantee, she told me about her conversation with an escalations representative that denied her originally. This agent was not aware we were promoting this money back guarantee, so he quoted her the termination charges. I reported this for coaching and further investigation. I apologized to Ms. [redacted] and was able to come to a resolution that she was satisfied with.                   This letter is in response to the complaint no. [redacted] regarding [redacted]. By way of background, Defenders, Inc.  DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then usually purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT   In summary, Ms. [redacted] states that she would like 50% of her contract termination charge refunded. She had a few reasons including the following; she was not aware she contracted with an authorized provider, she was not serviced in a timely manner, she paid extra for equipment, and poor customer service.   Ms. [redacted] contacted Protect Your Home through a promotional we had online. She visited an ADT authorized provider website versus ADT directly. After calling Protect Your Home, she set up an installation for March 1, 2017 after paying a $108.65 installation fee. On March 1, 2017 she contracted services with Protect Your Home for a 24 month agreement at $52.99. According to the contract, she agreed to have the services installed by an authorized dealer. I have included a copy for your viewing.   Regarding the service issues, I see that many appointments were scheduled. Some were for issues with the alarm system but others were for returning items. I apologize if she had to wait on some of those appointments, but this is not a valid reason for us to honor a refund or release from contract.   Regarding the extra charges, it was approved. After approving the charges, she decided to return some of those items in order to reduce the equipment total. She was provided $2,384.50 worth of free equipment. What she paid for went beyond this amount. She set up a payment plan to pay $350.24 over four months. That was changed, though, when she decided to return some items.   Our records indicate that she wanted to cancel her services due to a move. She was relocating to a studio apartment and did not have the need or room for an alarm system. Instead of relocating the services, we agreed to reduce her contract termination charge to 50% of her contract balance. She agreed to these terms and paid the contract termination charges.   Protect Your Home will not be refunding her a portion of that charge. It was already discounted to 50% of her remaining contract balance. Upon further review of the account and the list of issues that Mrs. [redacted] has provided Protect Your Home will be cancelling the account with no further penalty or payments due. At this time, since there was no additional equipment paid for and installed in the home we will not be scheduling for someone to come pick up the equipment, Mrs. [redacted] may do as she wishes with it.
Again, Protect Your Home is cancelling the account with no further penalties or claim against Mrs. [redacted]. This service will be terminated effective today.

I apologize that Mr. [redacted] is not satisfied with this resolution, but these are our findings. It is against company policy to take anyone’s equipment from the home, so it is highly unlikely that a technician would risk his job by “stealing” his equipment. It is usually found that the customer either disposed of the equipment or it was stored in a box and misplaced. At this time, there is no proof to substantiate his claim so I am not able to further investigate. Should Mr. [redacted] pursue legal action, I will re-address his concerns then. is in response to the complaint # [redacted] by [redacted]. By way of background, Defender SecurityCompany DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana Corporation. We have been an ADTauthorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored securitysystems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased,billed, serviced and maintained by ADT. Ms. [redacted] contacted Protect Your Home on April 21, 2014 ininquire about security services.  After reviewingthe initial sales call, Ms. [redacted] called in to attempt to obtain service. Allcustomers must get prequalified for monthly monitoring by getting a personalconsumer report ran. Ms. [redacted] unfortunately did not meet the credit qualificationsand would have been required to pay a higher installation fee rather than thestandard $99.00 we typically offer premium customers. Ms. [redacted] then contacted[redacted] to obtain his information for the personal consumer report whichwould also make Mr. [redacted] the account holder. The 36 month agreement was discussed during the initial sales call aswell as the terms and conditions. Ms. [redacted] contacted Protect Your Home on February 2nd2015 stating that she contacted ADT Corporate to attempt to schedule a movershowever since the previous account was with Protect Your Home ADT was not ableto assist with the move.  Mr. [redacted] did inquireabout the free camera that he was offered with our camera package.  Our sales representative explained to Mr.[redacted] that we do have a package where an indoor camera is included in thepackage and the monthly monitoring rate of $58.99. Additionally our terms andconditions does disclose, “You may berequired to pay additional charges to purchase equipment required to utilizethe ADT Pulse Interactive Solutions Services features you desire. Up to $499.00customer installation charge.”  Mr.[redacted] and our sales representative discussed the mover’s process where Mr.[redacted] would be required to sign a new 36 month agreement. We did scheduled atentative installation for February 14, 2014.On February 14, 2014 Mr. [redacted] called in regardingcancelling the installation because he was upset that he had to pay for theactivation fee to have the cameras installed. Mr. [redacted] requested terminationcost of the previous account.  Mr. [redacted]was issued a refund in the amount of $107.33 back on March 7, 2014 to theoriginal form of payment.Mr. [redacted] Contacted Protect Your Home again on March 26,2015 to proceed with the installation at his new residence. The sales agent discussedthe 36 month agreement and played the recorded terms and conditions portion ofthe sales call. Mr. [redacted] paid the premium installation fee of $99.00 to have thesystem installed for March 27, 2015. Since December 2014 no other payments havebeen made towards the monthly monitoring service. I show one of our internalcollections agents contacted Ms. [redacted] on February 25, 2015 in regards toher account; Ms. [redacted] stated she would need to call us back because she wasboarding a flight. I show our company also had our automatic messaging systemcalling Ms. [redacted] to inform her the account was past due on severaloccasions in February, March and April. We also mailed Ms. [redacted] a final notice letter on April 10, 2015showing there was past due balance of $217.72. We have confirmed that a paymentwas made on the account on June 12, 2015 in the amount of $839.83. The amount that was paid in June was the early terminationcost of our contract that is outlined in Article 2 of our terms and conditions.Unfortunately, we are not able to refund her the termination fee that Mr. [redacted]paid to our 3rd party collection agency due to failure to pay. Oncethe security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed,serviced and maintained by ADT.  After reviewing the account Ms. [redacted] signed up ADT PulseApplication.  She was disputing the firstpart of the contract under the “Total Amount of Payments for the initial term”.She initially signed on January 30, 2015 showing $1609.64. We determined therewas error on the contract so we sent out a corrected contract on February 24,2015 showing the correct amount of $1907.64.  We contacted her regarding the discrepancy of the twoamounts.  We agreed to issue a reimbursementof the two amounts, $298.00, once we receive the signed paperwork. Followingthis conversation we sent a recap of this conversation to her e-mail address onfile. I have also advised her there is typically a redemptionprocess that would need to be followed to redeem the VISA that is included inthe blue installation folder.  However,would be glad to request an immediate fulfillment and she would receive hervisa without any further steps required in effort to resolve her concerns. In regards to the letter she received regarding her bankinformation not being correct causing NSF; unfortunately we will not be able toassist since we are not currently doing her billing on the account. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT.   In summary, Ms. [redacted] included a photo of the control box left open that needs closed. Also, there was expressed dissatisfaction about a missed service appointment on August 10, 2016. Upon review of the account, Ms. [redacted] had a scheduled service appointment on August 10, 2016. A technician was on site at this location at 12:00pm and contacted the home office to advise that no one was on site to allow him access to the home. Protect Your Home contact both contact numbers on record and left two detailed voicemails for Ms. [redacted]. The technician was there before 2:00pm. Contact has been made with Ms. [redacted] to reschedule as of August 31, 2016, but she has advised that she will have her husband reach out to us to address and reschedule the appointment. We have not yet made any contact with him. In regards to the image provided my Ms. [redacted], I had a technical specialist review it. I was advised that the wires are not live and will not cause any harm if touched. If Ms. [redacted] would like that box closed as soon as possible, the wires can be pulled up and tucked into the box and shut. It is hard to determine in the image if there is a problem with the door. If it is unhinged, she would simply need to lift up on the door and re-hinge it in order to close. If preferred, this can be corrected when the service appointment is rescheduled. We are currently waiting for contact from her husband to schedule this appointment. I apologize if Ms. [redacted] has experienced any problems through this process. I appreciate the opportunity to address her concerns and come to a resolution. By way of background, Defenders, Inc.  DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT. In summary, the consumer would like the contract terminated and a full refund.  At this time, if the consumer would like to cancel, a payment of 75% of the remaining balance of the contract must be paid in full before we can terminate the services.  I have reviewed the call with the agent mentioned and there was no talk of a cancelation on that phone call. The agent advised the consumer’s daughter that we would need the account holder’s permission to speak with her regarding her mother’s account.  I have also reviewed the sales call and during the terms and conditions the consumer was advised of the 3 day window to cancel.  If the consumer has a landline that is compatible with our service, I will approve a downgrade to the lower rate of $27.99. The consumer’s current rate is $52.99, which includes the phone application to remotely control the system. We would need to remove that feature and connect the service to the landline for the consumer to qualify for the lower rate.  If the consumer would like to further discuss this, I can be reached directly at 317-860-6797. Your calls are not coming to my phone number, this is inaccurate. Please leave me a number I can call and I will. Why would I not return a call to ensure the system I PAID for works?

[I have included a photo of what their technician left in my daughter's room. This is not safe! They need to contact me and work around my schedule for a change...The Saturday appointment. I made was a complete waste of time as no one showed up before 2:00pm as promised...How many days do I have to be late to work in order for them to fix their dangerous mess? I cannot be late to work anymore awaiting their help. It's time they call me, make an appointment for a time that does not put my job at jeopardy..]

By way of background, Defender Security Company DBA Protect YourHome is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarmsystems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells andinstalls ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed,the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT.  I have researched this accountand on 2/2/2015 Mrs. [redacted] was sent a letter by a colleague of mine outliningthe damage claim procedure.  Upon receiptof that letter and the required documentation back my colleague will review theaccount.   We apologize for anyinconvenience she has experienced.
