[redacted]   Dear Ms. [redacted], This letter is in response to the complaint # [redacted] by [redacted]. By way of background, Defenders, Inc. dba Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT. In summary, Ms. [redacted] states that she was under the impression, to relocate the system, that Protect Your Home would come and move it at no charge. She had to provide her credit information and paid a $99 installation fee in order to set up a new installation to avoid termination charges on the original contract. She confirmed with the sales agent that when relocating the service, it would just be a continuation of the contract. She was told otherwise at the installation and therefore cancelled the movers account and would like to have her original contract waived and installation fee refunded. Ms. [redacted] did enter a contract with Protect Your Home on November 23, 2015. She contacted Protect Your Home on September 19, 2016 to relocate her services and did pay $107.28 for the installation fee. Protect Your Home does allow the equipment to be removed at the previous location at no cost. It is only the installation fee that the customer is required to pay to relocate the system. This installation fee is never free. Our customer sometimes mistake the free service to remove the system with the installation fee for the new account. I went back and listed to the sales call September 19, 2016 and the sales agent did tell her that this would be a continuation of the contract. This information was incorrect. A new contract is required at every installation. We do not allow a continuation of any contract once the services are no longer at the original listed address. Due to the misinformation, I am willing to release Ms. [redacted] from her original contract without penalty. I have made numerous attempts to reach Ms. [redacted] at each number provided and have not yet made any contact. I will not be able to honor this release from contract until I speak with her on the phone. I will need to warm transfer her to ADT to verbally verify her password to cancel. Once ADT has placed the cancellation, I can request that the balance be waived. There is a deadline to this, she will need to contact me to cancel by March 3, 2017. ADT will own the contract after that date and may not honor the full release from contract. In regards to her refund, $107.28 was paid back to her on October 11, 2016. I apologize if she was inconvenienced during this process, but I appreciate the opportunity to address her concerns and help come to a resolution.   Sincerely,   Crystal F[redacted] Customer Loyalty Representative Protect Your Home ADT Authorized Premier Provider E: [email protected]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me, under the condition that I receive the refund amount of $491.21 offered by Protect Your Home. Besides this offer, I would like to make some comments about the customer service of Crystal F[redacted]:1. When Crystal called me, rather than being courteous in listening to my concerns, she said she has to call in response to the Revdex.com and made it sound like she was only calling due to protocol and not to discuss the issues with me.2. Her title is Customer Loyalty Representative, but instead of trying to help me she continued to lecture me about the contract and tried to buy me off with a $50 gift card. I understand that all she is aware of is the contract and not what the technician had said to me, but she does not have the customer's side. It seems that their technicians are saying whatever sugar-coated words they want in order to get someone to sign the contract and need to be trained better to say things in accordance with the truth. Otherwise, there will be a lot more issues such as this.3. I do not want a technician to come to my home on October 20th. I clearly told Crystal that I am not interested in downgrading my service.

Dear Ms. In summary, Mr. [redacted] states he was to receive a $100 Visa gift card and a rate of $45.00 a month. He stated that he did not receive these items and would like this honored.   Mr. [redacted] contacted one of Protect Your Home’s full sale partners to set up his account. The customer went through Dish Installations full sale campaign. Per Dish, “If customer is asking about a gift card not listed on the account, direct them to www.myalarmrebate.com, enter ticket number ([redacted]) and follow rebate instructions. Partner offers and fulfills gift cards.”   He will need to follow the instructions listed above to receive the Visa gift card. In regards to the monthly rate, Protect Your Home offers $48.99 for the cellular back-up. We do not offer a rate for $45.00. I would recommend that this complaint be forwarded to Dish Installations so they can review the sales call and provide a response to that inquiry. We do not have access to their database.   I apologize if Mr. [redacted] was inconvenienced during this process, but I appreciate the opportunity to address his concerns and help come to a resolution.     Sincerely,     Crystal F[redacted] Customer Loyalty Representative Protect Your Home ADT Authorized Premier Provider E: [email protected]

Dear Ms. [redacted] states that she was not aware of the extra charges required to install the additional sensors needed to protect her home. She also states the rate is higher than what was originally discussed. She would like to be refunded for the extra equipment she paid for and have a rate adjustment on her account.   Ms. [redacted] contacted Protect Your Home on November 11, 2016 in regards to a monitored ADT alarm system. Her equipment credit totaled $1873 of free equipment. The promotion reflected a rate of $27.99 with requires the basic landline service without ADT’s limited warranty quality service plan. Ms. [redacted] paid $104.25 for the installation fee and scheduled the installation the same day.   Upon installation, Ms. [redacted] purchased three extra sensors. She paid an additional $407.51 for these devices. She had no obligation to purchase these extra sensors and could have kept the equipment included in her free package. Ms. [redacted] also upgraded her monitoring services by adding PULSE with cell back up. These additional features increased her rate from $27.99 to $52.99.   Ms. [redacted] did contact Protect Your Home on November 28, 2016 to discuss the concerns listed in this complaint. She was offered a downgrade. She can return the extra sensors for a refund and have the monitoring services downgraded to a compatible landline service to lower her monthly rate. She did not agree to any of these options. I called Ms. [redacted] to offer the same resolution offer and left a voicemail. I apologize if Ms. [redacted] was inconvenienced during this process, but I appreciate the opportunity to address her concerns and help come to a resolution.     Sincerely,     Crystal F[redacted] Customer Loyalty Representative Protect Your Home ADT Authorized Premier Provider E: [email protected]

Dear Ms. [redacted], This letter is in response to the complaint #[redacted] filed by [redacted]. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT. We have researched into Mrs. [redacted]’s complaint and located her account.  Our records show that her install that was scheduled for November 1, 2014 was cancelled the same day.  We spoke with her directly about these concerns several times in November, most recently on November 14, 2014.  We explained that the offer she discussed over the phone was based on a landline connection.  When the installer arrived, they decided on a wireless system which does have a higher monthly rate.  We also explained we do not repair any holes left after we remove our equipment.  However, I did offer to leave the main panel in her home so that no holes would be left from removal. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration that the consumer may have experienced and we appreciate the opportunity to address her concerns. Sincerely, [redacted] Customer Advocate [redacted]@protectyourhome.com

My existing working equipment was not left. My wife and I were both present when installer left his work areas clean. It seems that the company has taken the word of an employee that has committed fraud and not being accountable for replacing or compensating me for stolen equipment. I now have a hole in my wall with protruding wires where the old panel was. If this is their final resolution. It is in my best interest to proceed with legal action to be made whole.

Dear Ms. In summary, Mr. [redacted] states that he has been double billed since February although he relocated his services. He states that he has called in to get this corrected, but has had no help to get this resolved. Mr. [redacted] did relocate his services on February 27, 2016. When relocating a service, the original contract is voided and the billing is supposed to cease. If the appropriate departments are not notified, the billing can continue although the services were relocated. Mr. [redacted] was instructed to contact ADT three days after his installation to cancel the billing. He was instructed this in error. Protect Your Home was billing Mr. [redacted] at the time, so this cancellation should have been handled in house. Since the billing department with Protect Your Home was not notified, the billing continued for the monthly rate. Protect Your Home collected $105.98 and it is currently being refunded. ADT purchased the account shortly after and started billing the customer from March on. ADT collected $370.93 and it is currently being refunded now that I have brought this to their attention. The customer did attempt to make ADT aware, but the agent who took the call referred him back to the affiliate. This was instructed to him in error. All refunds have been submitted and are currently being processed. There is a total $476.91 that will be refunded to the customer both from ADT and Protect Your Home. I have contacted Mr. [redacted] to make him aware. He was satisfied that this was being addressed and stated he would call me if he does not see the funds returned. I apologize that this inconvenienced Mr. [redacted], but I appreciate the opportunity to address his concerns and help come to a resolution.
