Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint, in the least. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I listed the problems and then asked for specific actions.
Their response looks like a canned response and does not address these points, which I find additionally offensive.
They said nothing in response to #1,
#2 they said they will continue to designate cities that may be 90 miles or so from the actual event location, and did not even say they would make it perfectly clear on their site, maps, and listed venues, or have registrants check off a clear statement to that effect,  as requested, but hold to their current position.
Why would they avoid doing this, except that they can collect much more money up front by naming a capital city in a county of 950,000 people, vs Two rural counties with a population about half of that, or naming a capital city of 423,000 with Cary right on the edge with 145,000, vs. their last minute named town with a population of 11,500? I now think this was intentionally misrepresented for their financial benefit, and that no refund policy sure comes in handy for them.  I would like to add that they should be required to make a change to EVERY event listed, indicating clearly and prominently, that they reserve the right to move the event to 90 miles away.
#3. They reiterate they have a no refund policy...that may be fine if they were still offering what they advertised. I cannot imagine a professional seminar, a class, or any sports activity tickets being sold and the vender being able to say oh, we are changing it to 90 miles away, we refuse to give you a refund, it was in the fine print we didn't require you to acknowledge you read.
#4. They totally avoided the request for them to clearly state on their site that they are a for-profit business who happens to make ___ % donation (of total registration, or profits?). I am sure they intentionally avoid doing so, as people justify an expense of $65 to $100, (which people pay for a FULL day of a VARIETY of fun at Disney or theme parks) as "it's for charity"... I have heard numerous people state this, thinking that is the case. Right now, the website only says it encourages awareness and understanding about cancer, does not specify any amount except $250,000 (out of maybe $26,250,000 brought in) being contributed last year. While I appreciate any amount being donated, their previous marketing, their marketing, the pink, reference to cancer has led many to have a misperception. We had such a good time at the event last year, I wish they were honest, much more reasonably priced, I think they would do better and everyone would be happier. This feels like such a waste of time, I am tired of messing with it and may well copy this and forward it to the Attorney General's office as others have suggested. I still want this complaint on file with the Revdex.com.
Thank you,

I was offered a refund yesterday, I replied 3 times and have not received the refund. Others on my team received theirs right away after they accepted.  Once I receive the refund I will accept their "response"

I am posting a complaint about a recent event many of my friends signed up for. The Dirty Girl Mud Run says their "official policy" on refunds apparently allows you to move the race site up to 90 MILES from the advertised location. Moving the location from Raleigh, NC to Archdale, NC is at least 90-115 miles from Raleigh depending on where you are coming from. First, that is entirely too far to be considered reasonable, and second, if you don't have a more precise location where the race will be held, then please don't sell registrations based on a particular city. It would have been far more appropriate to list this race as "Central NC", or under some other vague location name or TBA until you had a definite address to finalize a location. This was false advertising and quite unethical from a business stand point. Unfortunately my entire team is upset about this and request we have decided to back out and request a refund in full

I am a personal trainer and running coach in the Raleigh metro area.
As part of my professional scope, I train and coach clients for specific events, from 5k's to half marathons to obstacle course races.
I coached a team for the 2013 Raleigh Dirty Girl event - which was indeed held in Raleigh, and was planning to do it again this year as there was a great deal of interest from my client base.
To now find out that the venue for the event is nowhere near Raleigh is beyond disappointing. I had several clients register for the event as part of their goal-setting, and will now be unable to attend.
To hear that, on top of the blatant misinformation in calling it a Raleigh venue, you have a No Refund policy makes me downright angry. It stinks of dishonesty and bad business practice, and frankly, makes me feel cheated out of my money. Worse, it makes me feel as though I have led my clients to be cheated out of their money.
I am hoping that the Dirty Girl organization will reconsider their policy on refunds in this particular case - perhaps an outsider looking at points on a map would think that Archdale is part of the Raleigh area, but those of us who live, work, and play here would never, ever have imagined that 3 hours or more of travel time would be involved in attending this event. The Raleigh area is part of what we call the Triangle of NC. The Greensboro/Winston-Salem vicinity is part of what we call the Triad of NC, and is not only a distinctly different area, but has its own identity and culture and pride. It is a bit insulting to the many people who live there to call the event "Raleigh".
I sent these sentiments to the organizers of the Dirty Girl Mud Run and received what appears to be an automated response that did not address any of my specific points, but reiterated the NO REFUND policy.
I will never again participate in any way with the Dirty Girl Mud Run, I will never again train clients for it or recommend it in any way.
As an avid participant in this type of event, I have experience with the Warrior Dash, Spartan Race series, and the local-to-Raleigh Ninja Challenge - I highly recommend the latter two and will train my group for this year's Lozilu in Raleigh on May 17, 2014 instead of the Dirty Girl.

Hi [redacted], Our dirty girl participants are what make our event so special and we always want you to have the best time possible. There is a lot that goes into selecting a venue and...

because of that we sometimes need to go a bit further which is why we indicate on our website that venues can be up to 90 miles of the advertised area. Although we have a no refund policy, participant satisfaction is so important to us, after all- you are the reason we do what we do! We have processed your refund and will be getting email communication on it from [email protected]
Thank you

Hi [redacted], While we are a for-profit event company, the cause of finding a cure, educating women and helping those who are currently dealing...

with Breast Cancer is one we believe in.
There is a lot that goes into selecting a venue and because of that we sometimes need to go a bit further which is why we indicate on our website that venues can be up to 90 miles of the advertised area.
Although we have a no refund policy that is stated on the waiver that you signed during registration. Participant satisfaction is so important to us, after all- you are the reason we do what we do. You will be getting a email from [email protected] with further instructions.

I need to revise my response that I filed this week, but I don’t appear to be able to do that online.  It does appear that I received my refund on 2/10 so I am satisfied with the response. My apologies for the confusion!
[redacted]

This organization canceled the event the week of the race because the organization did not want to pay a $20,000 city fee even though 2,500 girls signed up for the racing pay per person ranging from $65-$95. The organization is not providing any refunds even though it was not an emergency situation cancelation. This organization promotes breast cancer yet only 2-3% of the proceeds actually is donated to breast cancer.
