DreamHost Reviews (62)

All DreamHost customers are able to view past invoices at any time from their account control panel: [redacted] These invoices provide a full and complete up-to-the-minute accounting of all charges and payments on any DreamHost account. In this case, it appears the customer's annual hosting renewal date is on June 6th (This account was created on June 6th, 2015.) This breaks down to $per month, and is charged yearly as $The charges from January appear to be for four domain renewals Because they can occur at any date, domain registrations and renewals are charged separately from any hosting charges. We encourage the customer to review their invoices and please contact us again if any questions remain We would be happy to provide any additional clarification

We regret that this customer was unsatisfied with the level of service they received from us, however we have already made accommodations for this customer as explained in our last message and consider the case closed

In investigating this case, it looks like this customer may have missed a few "Payment Due" email notifications, and their account was eventually automatically disabled for nonpayment. After contacting our support team, this customer was able to re-activate the account and get it back in good standing This account is still active today. We realize the origninal date on this complaint is quite long past by now A previous staffer didn't give our Revdex.com account the attention it deserved, and we are working to address all outstanding concerns.Thank you

Unfortunately we won't be able to help this customer further In the interest of fairness to our other customers and out of respect of our Terms of Service (which all customers agree to follow) we are unable to provide an exception to our policies in this case

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [That is not acceptable to meI am not asking you for hundreds of dollarsI just want my positive balance backMy domain registration is no longer under Dreamhost] Regards, [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.I'm satisfied with the answer to # [redacted] Thanks, Revdex.com!-***

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.See attached photos regarding the business's allegations that they completed these actions prior to the Revdex.com complaint filing Regards, [redacted] ***

During and after the email issue the customer referenced, constant updates were provided at http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/ Those updates are still visible todayWith respect to account closure, we behaved in a manner consistent with our terms of service This user was past their day money-back guarantee period and was ineligible for a refund An account credit was offered in the amount of the disputed amount

Horrible companyThey take your money and leave you on your own for any problems

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Dreamhost continues to frame this as an issue with me not backing up the site, and is completely ignoring the fact that it was their direct actions (renewing the security certificate which disabled the site, then having me restore the site [and not mentioning the need to perform a backup prior to this] which deleted the site, and then continuing to try and "fix" the databases which made the site irrecoverable) that led to this issueWhat is not at issue is whether the site was backed up or not; what is at issue is that their incompetence is was led to the site being down in the first place. One month's hosting is not only insulting, due to the work I need to put in to rebuilding the site, it's also moot, as I have changed hosting services in the face of Dreamhost's continuing to deny any responsibility in the matterAs such, I am still requesting my original compensation, but in the form of a check mailed to me, as I will not be using Dreamhost's services in the future Regards, [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find the resolution satisfactory I have closed the account following the instructions providedI have reviewed the account per their website, and consider this complaint resolved Kind Regards, [redacted]

Domain registrations are provided for as long as a user keeps their account active We pay to register domains for our customers, and when the hosting is cancelled so too is that free benefit. This policy is explained in the terms of service that all customers are asked to agree to when they create their accounts. While we can't provide a refund for the domain registration, we've worked hard to make closing a DreamHost account a simple process. It appears that this account with us is still active, so the customer will still need to cancel their account if they'd like to terminate service with us Instructions for doing so appear in our knowledge base: [redacted]

Hello, I think you have the wrong businessOur business is SkillSuccess.com (an online education business) - we are in no way connected to Dreamhost LLC

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved Regards, [redacted]

Dreamhost presents itself as a "award winning" website hosting company "you can trust"This is something to be weary of if you are considering them as a host for your business or personal websiteMy experience with them is nothing short of a nightmareFirst, if you want customer service you can expect to pay$for a call back or $for up to three call backs a monththis is what they call supportSecond, you are going to be locked into wordpressSo if you are wanting to create your own site, you can expect a headache and more costs associated with their limited resourcesThen if you want to cancel your auto renewal of hosting to Dreamhost, you can again expect nothingBe warned it magically renews itself when you set it to manual, you will get a renewal email notice, but its too late, you are within a timeframe constructed by the company that either charges you to cancelThen you have to enter your billing in which case they have an updated billing for when they try to charge you for yet another year of hosting you have been trying to cancel for months, or set as manual instead of annualand the frustration continuesYou send a "ticket" to customer service and get a series of form instructions with links that sends you right back into the loopOr you can pay the $plus fees to talk to someoneEven to cancel you will be lucky to get out of their grip for less than $Oh and then you have paid for a year of worthless hosting, you will lose all of your registered domains, and you get to start all overDreamhost is a nightmare, should be illegal, but I am sure it is not, which is unfortunateProtect yourself and go elsewhere

Customers can view a complete email history of every message sent to and from DreamHost at https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=support.msg¤t_s***The following message was sent to the customer on October 23rd, at 4:PM, PDT: ----------Re: DreamHost Due Payment Notice Message #: *** Time: *** > The message said "Common does not equal acceptableJust ask ***"> And I included a screenshot of the class action settlement notice I > received from *** for their auto-renewal policySo, good luck > with hiding bad practices in fine print and providing that as an > automated excuse to frustrated customersThat's clearly working well > for customer retention and referrals for your business, as well as > other businessesHello, I am very sorry for the problemsWe communicate to you both before the plan renews and on the day that it renews to make sure you have an opportunity to end the plan without having to payUnfortunately, in this case, it appears you did not take action on either of those emails to end your account at the renewal timeYou also did not take action when you were told on October 14th how to close the account by Jay HIt appears your account is now permanently closed and you did not have to pay anything, so I trust you are satisfied with this situationIf you have further questions, please let us knowThanks! ***----------Again, this confirms that the account has been closed and that there is a $balance due

The full refund was processed to the user's *** account today, as requested

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. To reiterate: backups were not being done correctly, Dreamhost erased thousands of emails, then destroyed any existing backup AFTER their advertised response time elapsed, and many days before they actually respondedThe company has offered no resolution
