We have restored all of the customers data to which we had access in our limited backups, and have provided an explanation of what happened.  We consider the matter closed.

It appears that this customer didn't close their account using the self-service account closure tool located within their account control panel.  As a result, their account was disabled for non-payment.This account is currently closed, per the customer's request. We realize the origninal date on...

this complaint is quite long past by now.  A previous staffer didn't give our Revdex.com account the attention it deserved, and we are working to address all outstanding concerns.Thank you.

During and after the email issue the customer referenced, constant updates were provided at http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/.  Those updates are still visible today.
With respect to account closure, we behaved in a manner consistent with our terms of service.  This user was past...

their 97 day money-back guarantee period and was ineligible for a refund.  An account credit was offered in the amount of the disputed amount.

Since submitting this complaint, this customer has moved their hosting services to another provider.  There are no services remaining on this account for us to alter. We realize the origninal date on this complaint is quite long past by now.  A previous staffer didn't give our Revdex.com account...

the attention it deserved, and we are working to address all outstanding concerns.Thank you.

Horrible company. They take your money and leave you on your own for any problems.

In reviewing the most recent email our technical support team sent this customer (March 26, 2017, 15:24 PST), I can confirm that the 'balance due' has been removed.Per our state terms of service, hosting services at DreamHost renew themselves automatically much like a cable TV bill or Internet...

Service Provider.  Our customers are responsible for ending those accounts before they renew if they would like to discontinue service with us.We also sent an emailed reminder on February 1st, 2017 to advise this customer of the impending renewal - before that renewal actually occurred.  At that point the customer asked us how to convert their account from yearly to monthly billing, and we provided them with that information.  After that point, the account was never converted to monthly billing, nor was it closed. In this case, the hosting account is still open.  The customer does still need to click the link marked "close account/end all hosting" that appears at https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=billing.accounts to begin the account closure process.  There is no longer a balance due on this account, so there will be no automated prompt for additional payment. We hope this helps to clear things up a bit.  We're sorry to see any customer leave and hope that this resolves their issue.

All DreamHost customers are able to view past invoices at any time from their account control panel:[redacted]

account. In this case, it appears the customer's annual hosting renewal date is on June 6th.  (This account was created on June 6th, 2015.)  This breaks down to $9.95 per month, and is charged yearly as $119.40. The charges from January appear to be for four domain renewals.  Because they can occur at any date, domain registrations and renewals are charged separately from any hosting charges. We encourage the customer to review their invoices and please contact us again if any questions remain.  We would be happy to provide any additional clarification.

It appears the user was granted a free year of service, as was promised by technical support manager [redacted] as an accomodation for overdraft fees incurred.  In looking at this account, I see that that accomodation was ultimately granted four days ago after the customer expressed interest.This...

user signed up for service on 02-14-2014 and was charged a discounted $19.20 as a result of a promotion.  They were again charged $119.40 on 02-21-2015 for an additional year of service when their account came up for renewal.  Per our terms of service, hosting plans at DreamHost automatically renew at the end of their current term.Additionally, emails are sent to customers as new charges are incurred, so this customer had been notified prior to any credit card charge.  A chronological archive of these emails and all others can be viewed from the user's account control panel: https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=support.msg&current_step=Index&am... of 5-25-2016, this account is still active with a $0 balance - and is considered to be "paid up" through 2017-02-13.  This account is essentially all set to receive three years for the price of two, as promised. If this user would like to terminate their service at any time they may do so by visiting the "Manage Account" section of their control panel ( https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=billing.accounts ) and clicking the "Close Account" link.

Hello,
I think you have the wrong business. Our business is SkillSuccess.com (an online education business) - we are in no way connected to Dreamhost LLC.

In investigating this case, it looks like this customer may have missed a few "Payment Due" email notifications, and their account was eventually automatically disabled for nonpayment. After contacting our support team, this customer was able to re-activate the account and get it back in good...

I have been a loyal DreamHost customer for six years, and even recommended them to everyone who needed a host. But that all stopped today. When I woke up this morning and checked my website (that was live last night) I was shocked with an error 404 message. I had no idea what was happening and frantically started checking my email for some sort of message about what was happening from DreamHost. Nothing... So I hastily sent a support ticket to them. My reply was that there was a MySQL error so they removed the site, but would put it back online. I realized the error and knew the only script that called the query, so I replied with that information and asked how to prevent it in the future. No reply. A few hours later, suddenly my entire database is gone! Months of work, just gone. Again, I frantically email support asking what happened? No reply... Hours go by again, I email again, and finally (another hour later) I finally get a reply that went something like this; "I talked to the previous support person and they said everything is good to go. Please let us know if there are any other issues." My reply was, "there is a really big outstanding issue, my database has been dumped! Is it coming back?". Again, no reply... At this point I have wasted an entire day trying to find out why such extreme measures were taken over a rather simple error, only to be ignored and given hollow answers just to be able to make the support ticket closed / replied. Again, hours later I take the issue to Twitter. Within 1 minute I have a reply that asks me to send my support ticket number. I do, and now I am back to being ignored for hours... The best part though, is that when I decided I needed to start rebuilding my databases I was greeted with the error, "CREATE command denied to user".
So in short, because of a minor error, DreamHost decided to delete months of my work, they ignored my questions as to why, and even blocked me from being able to start over.

Domain registrations are provided for as long as a user keeps their account active.  We pay to register domains for our customers, and when the hosting is cancelled so too is that free benefit. This policy is explained in the terms of service that all customers are asked to agree to when they...

create their accounts. While we can't provide a refund for the domain registration, we've worked hard to make closing a DreamHost account a simple process. It appears that this account with us is still active, so the customer will still need to cancel their account if they'd like to terminate service with us.  Instructions for doing so appear in our knowledge base: [redacted]
