E. Stanley Paving Reviews (70)

Good Afternoon Jasmine, I have personally tried reaching out to this customer and so has another manager, Latasha. This customer has called and spoken to several people within our organization. The customer was charged only $99 for a garbage disposal installation. We are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to Home Depot for future purchases. The customer is stating that he will not agree to anything until he speaks to a manager, however, we are unable to get a hold of him. The $25.00 gift certificate is the only compensation we will be able to offer this customer. This is a ~25% discount on a $99 installation charge. Thank you,Suzy K[redacted]Plumbing Operations ManagerPhone* [redacted]

We have reviewed the recorded phone call and the customer was quoted for a 40 gallon 6 year unit, not a 50 as mentioned in this complaint. The 40 gallon was agreed to by the customer, she provided her credit card information and signed off on the Installation Customer Approval with the 40 gallon...

unit. We apologize if the customer misunderstood. At this point, we can install the 50 gallon unit but the customer will have to pay the difference in the tank and a new installation fee of $288. The customer also mentioned in her complaint to [redacted] that she told the sales associate that she wanted to switch payment methods before the card was charged, this was never mentioned on the recording. The card that the customer provided is what was eventually charged. There was no mention of wanting to switch payment methods.

Response taken over the phone:  I will be in his area and will address the issue next week.

I have received the same response from some of this business's associates that I would get a call to discuss and they would send me the gift card.I never received a call back after leaving numerous messages.  Also, I still haven't received a call back from when they responded via Revdex.com.I am still waiting for the call to discuss the situation.  I will not accept anything until I receive a call.Thank you

Revdex.com:
I do not have an option to only partially accept this response.  They mislead you by telling you that I did not respond to their customer service people.  I responded to EVERY call they made, plus three more.  If they are offering a gift card, I need to know what the amount is first.  I'm not going to accept a low ball offer, simply based on the customer service aspect of this entire ordeal.  They seem to suggest that I somehow am in the wrong.  I purchased the water heater, and when I called, the man who answered the phone seemed to know EXACTLY which heater it was.  NO mention was made that extra fees for installing were needed, or holes cut in my kitchen.   As far as getting a competitive installation offer, how do they propose we do that with the worker standing there with the water heater still on the cart?  That seems a bit silly to even suggest.  Granted the heater was installed well, but it's the entire experience before, during and after that I am complaining about.  Please advise regard the gift card amount.
Regards,
[redacted]

I was not told of any defective parts on the water heater at the time that it was installed and nobody ever came out to look at it after it was installed to know that it was defective. After installation, the plumbers advised me to wait an hour for the water ro heat up. They did not advise that I was buying a defective water heater.  Was the company already aware that the water heater has a defective part before it was installed? Was a water heater sold to me by the company that the company was aware did not work? Since the water heater was installed with defective parts (if that is the reason that I still do not have hot water a week later), then it should be replaced at no cost since it was installed with full knowledge that it was defective. After filing this complaint on 9/8/2016, a technician contacted me once again to schedule an appointment for today, 9/9/2016, between 4 and 6 pm. However, I just received another phone call from Marisa, another technician, who called me to schedule an appointment with no awareness of he appointment that was already scheduled on 9/8/2016. The company needs a better scheduling system.

Review: Contractor did seal a black top driveway with severe thunderstorms in area. As soon as the tar sealer was applied, it rained very heavily, causing tar sealer to be splashed all over white garage door ,house siding, and sidewalk of residence . Placed a phone call on the day it happened and left voicemail. Contractor sent a worker up the following day to access damage and attempted to clean a 3 inch area then said he would need more help. Since that day, no one has returned to clean the tar splatter which has now been 17 days. Multiple calls to contractor have gone unanswered or I have spoken with a secretary who says that she will have the owner call me. Have not received one call From the owner at all to this day, 17 days after incident happened.Desired Settlement: Want affected area cleaned , or damaged items replaced with new if they can't be cleaned.

Response:

The matter is being resolved.

Review: I paid for the following scope of work from E. Stanley Paving per Estimate [redacted] dated 8/26/2013: Remove existing driveway, regrade with crushed item 4 stone, Install 2 French drains and pave all with 3-1/2" of type 6F state top. The work was completed in Fall of 2013.

It was once winter hit that year (2013-2014) I realized there was a big problem. The one upper French drain was not working. My driveway had 2-3" thick of ice in one section of the driveway which made it un-passible. The water was running down the hill and not being taken away by the French drain. I spent many hours that winter with rock-salt and an ice chipper.

I have the following documented attempts to contact E.Stanley along with photos of the ice, water and heaving of the driveway as a result of the drain not working. All to no avail. I was never responded to.

In November 2014, personally rented an excavator, purchased pipe and stone and installed a new French drain (correctly) and it seems to be working fine.Desired Settlement: At an absolute minimum, I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of installing the new French drain and a credit for the complete cost of one black top sealing in 2015.

Consumer

Response:

Hello,I discarded receipts for new French drain. Break down is as follows: Excavator rental: $170.00, Drainage Pipe $70, #1-#2 stone $200, Fuel $100. Total = $540.00. In addition I'm asking for E.Stanley to provide me with a "no-charge" black top sealing in 2015. I do not have any estimates nor can I assume the value. Attached is the data showing contact attempts and proof that drain didn't work.

Review: ** Paving black-topped my residential driveway on 6/20/12 and was told to call if any problems arose and they would take care of it. I questioned foreman on job about the slope of new blacktop not being enough to facilitate proper run-off away from house foundation. He assured me that it would be fine.

. I paid $5400. in good faith to owner, **, for services in full. After a few days it rained for first time and water collected in large pool in one section of driveway and a few other areas. The main pool area was right in a seam of blacktop and water just seeped through blacktop instead of draining off. This seepage puts the water at foundation and also lets water sit between old blacktop surface under new layer and will freeze this winter and break up all new paving. The job forman also told me to stay off new blacktop for seven days to let it harden & cure. I stayed off for ten days to give extra curing time. Even now after 6 weeks, it will put small dents in blacktop when parking car on it overnite. This , along with water seepage thru , tell me that blacktop was not of good quality or not compacted enough by **.

I have made many, many calls to [redacted] Paving and have complained many, many times about this defective job. ** will not return any calls himself. Three times he has his office assistant call me to say he will be at my house tha next week to fix job. Three different weeks of perfect blacktopping weather have come and gone with these promises, but still no sign of **.Desired Settlement: I want job done right as promised. This includes proper drainage and properly compacted asphalt that doesn't let water seep through it.

Business

Response:

the business will be taking acre of the consumer the week of August 20th. They have full intentions of resolving all issues.

Consumer

Response:

Stanley Paving made multiple promises to repair situation and missed all promised dates. ** won't respond to any calls personally. He finally sent one of his workers to my house on 8/9 to inform me they would definitely be here the week of 8/13. He explained that usually they put a patch in low area of blacktop thats collecting water . I told him to tell ** that I paid $5200 for a new blacktop driveway and was promised that drainage would be perfect. After paying all this money in good faith, I don't want an ugly patch sticking out like a sore thumb .

Needless to say, th week of 8/13 came & went with no sign of Stanley. I left for vacation on 8/19 and upon returning on 8/24 I found an ugly patch in my driveway. I hosed water on this area of driveway and water still collects or dams up only more so and in different spots. The original situation of unsatisfactory workmanship and defective drainage still exist.

Business

Response:

Amy in the business office advises that the business went to the consumer's home on 9/25 to seal the driveway and gave the consumer a $200.00 refund.

Consumer

Response:

This complaint was not resolved

satisfactorily. As I stated on the phone with your office on 9/24 , after

3 months of constant phone calls to them and many broken promises to correct

driveway, they only put in an ugly patch in one low spot, damaged my vinyl

siding with asphalt torches and said that was good enough. I continued to

complain about the water ponding up in drive and not running off toward side as

promised. Again promises but no action. ** & his crew

showed up at my house on Fri. 9/21 . I was at work but my daughter was home

from college and heard them yelling, swearing & calling me names

while they stood in driveway. She went out to see if they wanted her to

move her car and they said 'well yes'. * asked her 'what the big

problem was with driveway'. She pointed to a letter taped to siding that

I had left for him, and letter spelled out all problems and action

requested to correct .She felt harassed and un-comfortable with their attitude

towards her. She came inside and called me as she was upset. I told her

to just tell * to call me on my cell and not to continue contact with

them. * & crew left without doing anything and never called

me. I called his office on 9/24 to complain about his harassment of

my daughter and not being 'man' enough to talk to me. She said the only

thing * was going to do to correct problems was to seal coat driveway. I

told her that was still unacceptable because it didn't solve drainage problems

and only masked the ugly patch. I told her because I was getting

physically ill with arguing with Stanley Paving since June, that to tell the

jerk to seal drive and give me $200 for vinyl siding damage. By sealing

driveway it might help with water getting under new blacktop and coming in

foundation. As for rest of problems, I agree with your comment on 9/24, that

I'll have to sue him to get for defective job. By no means would I

say this complaint is resolved and would NEVER recommend E.Stanley Paving to

anybody. Regards, **
