Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I specifically asked for information regarding the account which was not provided.  Simply stating this account was "purchased" from the company is not sufficient to resolve this issue except to state how this supposed account was in the legal possession of ECast.  No attempts to collect the debt were made which is a requirement of the [redacted] to issue a 1099 in the name of the supposed previous debtor.
If the complaint is further reviewed more carefully by ECast, the requested information is in the complaint, and is required to validate any such debt in either of our names.  Failure to supply this information verifies this to be an invalid debt.  In addition, a 1099-C was never sent to either of us, and this is a requirement by the [redacted].
A complete resolution of this complaint is requested so it can be properly addressed in an appropriate manner.

I need the explanation of these charges from ECAST Settlement Corporation from which creditors they bought these from and explain why I owe this amount.
ECAST Settlement Corporation address [redacted] Account Info [redacted] Form 1099-C Date...

of 7/**/12 this one is under my social security number in the amount of $2,539.00. Reported to IRS as a Cancellation of Debt.
ECAST Settlement Corporation address [redacted] Account Info [redacted] Form 1099-C Date of 7/**/12 this one also is under my social security number in the amount of 1,145.00. Reported to IRS as a Cancellation of Debt.
ECAST Settlement Corporation address [redacted] Account Info [redacted] Form 1099-C Date of 7/**/12 this one is under my husband [redacted] social security number in the amount of 2,255.00. Reported to IRS as a Cancellation of Debt.
They are saying we owe a total of $5939.00. I have never heard of this company and I have never received anything saying I owe this much to anyone. I need to know the creditors from where ECAST got or bought these from. They need to send me information saying that I owe this much and papers I signed that states I owe this. If I don't owe this they need to send letter to IRS stating they were wrong and take this off my IRS form.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]ECAST corporation has never notified me of their intent to purchase my account from Capitol One, nor did they ever send me a 1099-C form. I still believe that their methods are fraudulent, especially given the time parameters. ECAST claims to have purchased my account from Capitol One in 2008, but yet they did not file it with the IRS until 2012. I am still arguing that ECAST did not notify me at any point in this process.

Review: In early 2014, I received a notice from the [redacted] stating that there are proposed changes to my 2012 taxes. I was informed by the [redacted] that this is due to a "Cancellation of Debt" from a company called ECAST Settlement Corporation. ECAST Settlement Corporation filed a 1099-C with the [redacted]. There was not a contact phone number for ECAST Settlement on the [redacted] notice, so I contacted the [redacted] to see if they had more detailed contact information, but they do not. All the [redacted] has on file for them is an address. ECAST settlement corporation claims that my cancellation of debt is totaling $2,853. I have no idea what this charge is all about, what company the charge was originally with, and the amount the debt was purchased for by ECast, as this is the only amount which should be reported to the [redacted], and not an amount which includes interest and additional fees. I was NEVER sent a 1099, nor were any collection activities every attempted. The 1099 is to be issued one year after all collection attempts ceased. If no attempts to collect occurred, a 1099 cannot be issued to the [redacted]. Even if collection attempts were made from a debt which was purchased in 2008 (like many of the others), it is certain there are records which verify any and all collection attempts, and the date the attempts were discontinued.Desired Settlement: If this debt is not verifiable, I want a new 1099 issued immediately to the [redacted], and a letter sent to me detailing any decisions made which reflect my obligation towards this debt and a copy of any records sent to the [redacted] regarding this account. If this debt is verifiable, I want a detailed explanation of the original debt and date it was opened, the amount, the debtor names attached to the account including ss#, records of collection attempts including phone numbers and addresses where collection letters have been sent, and the original debt amount plus any and all fees and interest added to the original debt.

Review: In February of 2015, I received a notice from the [redacted] stating that there are proposed changes to my 2013 taxes. I was informed by the [redacted] that this is due to a "Cancellation of Debt" from a company called ECAST Settlement Corporation. ECAST Settlement Corporation filed a 1099-C with the [redacted]. There was not a contact phone number for ECAST Settlement on the [redacted] notice, so I Looked up the phone number online which was a [redacted] number. I spoke with three different [redacted] agents who know nothing about ECAST Settlement Corporation. ECAST Settlement Corporation claims they canceled a debt totaling $8,752 in my name and social security number. I have no idea what this charge is as I have not borrowed or owe anyone that amount of money. Furthermore, if the debt was written off, I was NEVER sent a 1099, nor were any collection activities ever attempted. The 1099 is to be issued one year after all collection attempts ceased. If no attempts to collect occurred, a 1099 cannot be issued to the [redacted]. And even while putting in the company information in this complaint, the ZIP provided by the [redacted] is incorrect ( I provided a known NY ZIP the one listed on the paperwork from the [redacted] is [redacted]. Needless to say, if the ZIP is incorrect, more than likely the postal address is incorrect also. This company has intentionally provided false information to the [redacted] by giving a false address as well as the alleged debt cancellation.Desired Settlement: I request that ECAST Settlement Corporation verify the date the debt was made and with whom. I also request a record of collection attempts by said corporation resulting in a write off of $8752 to include the principal, interest and fees associated with the alleged debt. If the requested information cannot be provided, I am requesting the IRS be contacted immediately with appropriate documentation correcting the error, and a letter sent to me detailing any decisions made which reflect my obligation towards this debt has been unfounded.

[redacted] has expressed two issues in her complaint. The first is that we have not responded to her and the second is that she does not recognize the accounts in question. With regard to the first issue we have responded to this web site on two previous occasions dated June [redacted] 2014 and July [redacted] 2014.In addition, at the time of the first complaint we sent a detailed response to [redacted]’s address listed on the complaint. At the time we responded to the second Revdex.com complaint we also resent the detailed response to [redacted] at the same listed address by overnight UPS package. UPS confirmed delivery of the package on [redacted], July 2014 at the address listed on the complaint.

Regarding the second issue raised, as part of the detailed responses sent to [redacted] via regular USPS mail and overnight UPS package, we included copies of the Proofs of Claim we filed in [redacted]’s bankruptcy case. Those claims survive the bankruptcy, as the case was dismissed. We abandoned collections on the accounts and we are required by law to meet certain tax reporting obligations under the IRS code. By making the 1099C filings in question eCAST met its obligation to the IRS. We consider this matter to be closed. Should [redacted] have any further inquires, she may contact our attorneys [redacted] at ###-###-####.

Review: I was informed by IRS that this company setteled a debt of $4,494 and that I owe taxes on this. They claim they sent a W2 form, which I never received, I have never heard of this company, I did not have any debts in 2012 or ever, for this amount of money, I am unable to talk to them by phone, to provide me with some kind of proof that this belongs to me. I have no idea what they are talking about. This appears to be some kind of scam as I have never done any business with any company in New York, nor have I ever lived there. Please help.Desired Settlement: I want this affair to be corrected with IRS and written confirmation or email confirmation that this has occurred.
