Fair Collections & Outsourcings, Inc Reviews (58)

FCO attempted to collect a debt from me in late 2015. I paid the debt in full on February 24, 2016. On March 25, I received a letter from FCO asking that I pay the debt again. I called, concerned because I had paid the debt already. FCO claimed they had never received payment. I checked my bank account online and saw the check was cleared on February 25. I have had ongoing conversations with them and they have alternately claimed to not have received one or the other payment. They are making me and my bank provide them with documents proving that the payment was taken twice. If I didn't have the time or energy to provide this proof, they would ahve gotten away with deducting the amount from my account twice.

As you can see in the collection letter, there is absolutely no verification of the $512 charge. Moreover, we never signed any contract with the "[redacted]". Our contract...

with the [redacted] Apartments ended on July 31, 2016 after new management unlawfully kicked us out. The new management made slanderous claims against us in order to kick us out. We spoke up against the outrageous rent hike, and they terminated the lease as seen on the second attachment. Note the end date: July 31, 2016. It should also be noted that just ONE MONTH after we spoke up, and after they coerced/forced current tenants to renew at a much higher rent, they LOWERED the rent to a rate lower than what current tenants were originally paying. NOI Property Management Company is a fraud and should be forced out of business.  The property "manager" listed on the termination letter refused to give us the address/phone number of their headquarters, which is a violation of the law. The collection company received the termination letter dated May 9, 2016, which states that the contract ended on July 31, 2016. These crooks are trying to make us pay for August 2016's rent, after they unlawfully kicked us out. Please get these charges removed and return our $350 deposit (which includes a $50 key fob deposit as shown a separate attachment entitled “[redacted] Apt Addendum”.)

This business attempted to collect a debt from me that was not mine. They had the wrong social and the wrong name. They didn't bother calling or sending mail regarding this, they just reported it to my credit. I confronted them on this provided my details and information to clear up the situation. They eventually agreed and sent me a letter indicating that I did not owe this debt. Ultimately a positive result. However in the process, they wouldn't return phone calls. They gave me false names that they didn't remember on subsequent calls and all around made it extremely difficult to follow up to ensure the problem was solved.
While the end result for me was positive, I wouldn't trust this company any further than I could throw them... hence the neutral review.

Review: I have never lived in the area that this company have requested payment for. This company have never provided any valid information stating this debt is mines. I never had any business with the orginal creditor.Desired Settlement: I would like this company tp stop contacting me and remove this from my credit report.

Review: I have sent numerous letters to have an account removed from my credit report and each time I send one, I get a response stating the account is paid off and has a zero balance. Below is a list of dates I have sent letters to have the account removed from my credit report.

10/28/13

11/5/13

12/3/13

1/14/14

2/19/14

Each of these responses have been “this account is paid off and valid.” Fair Collections and Outsourcing cannot show me the validity of this account.

Please, investigate this and have it removed from the credit bureaus.Desired Settlement: Please, remove this account from all credit bureaus.

Review: FCO placed an inquiry on my credit report that affects my score. I do not know who these people are. I called ###-###-#### ([redacted]) @ FCO and explained this problem by her company .

The problem is not mine.

FCO has no evidence to prove anything.

This is not my debt.Desired Settlement: A letter removing the alleged debt that is not mine and remove from all my credit reports.

This is fraud and its illegal, FCO does not follow the laws. FCO are scammers and criminals.

Review: I have sent three letters to FCO on account [redacted] that is reporting on my credit report. I asked them for debt validation which includes: 1. Complete payment history, the requirement of which has been established by [redacted] v [redacted], 745 N.E.2d 862; 2001 Ind. App. LEXIS 509.

2. Agreement that bears the signature of the alleged debtor wherein he agreed to pay the original creditor. 3. Letter of sale or assignment from the original creditor to your company. (Agreement with your client that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt.) [redacted] v. [redacted], 302CV577, 2002 WL 32173704 (D.Conn., Oct. 29, 2002) - information relating to the purchase of a bad debt is not proprietary or burdensome. Debtor must phrase their request clearly to obtain: The source of a debt and the amount a bad debt buyer paid for plaintiff's debt, how the amount sought was calculated, where at issue a list of reports to credit bureaus, and documents conferring authority on defendant to collect debt. 4.Intimate knowledge of the creation of the debt by you, the collection agency. The only thing I ever got from them was a letter dated 10-10-2013 (received after my first letter) stating the account number, the name of creditor and total amount. There is no breakdown of what these charges are, no contract with my signature showing that I agreed to pay these charges and no contract showing they have the right to collect on this money.Desired Settlement: They need to remove this collection from my credit report since they are in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act by not sending debt validation after I have sent 3 letters asking for the information.

Review: Inaccurate collection account on my credit report. I have contacted FAIR COLLECTIONS & OUTSOURCING numerous times through mail and disputed with all three credit bureaus, account number [redacted] . I would like to know why they are able to report this item on my credit report when I paid this collection account a long time ago. Also, they never updated the credit bureaus that the dispute for this account was complete which is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They still have it as "Account information disputed by consumer" when it should say something like investigation is complete or something.Desired Settlement: I am in the process of buying a home and this old collection account is preventing my credit score to go up. Please delete this item from my credit report because I paid what was owed years ago and this is affecting my credit score.

Review: Fair Collections & Outsourcing is attempting to collect a payment for a property, [redacted] Apartments ([redacted]), where I previously rented at. I completed my lease at [redacted] and was on a month to month lease. I gave [redacted] proper written notice before leaving the property. I then received a collection notice from Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO), who was sent the debt from [redacted], for Broken lease (early termination of a lease) & rent for the time the apartment was not rented. Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO) has not been able to produce debt validation or verification. Since this incorrect collection has been sent out, it has been posted on my credit report. I have contacted Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO) to verify and validate this debt, because I did not enter another lease with [redacted] and do not owe these charges, and to have this collection removed from my credit report and closed out.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is for this collection to be completely removed from my credit report and this account to be closed out.

Review: FCO is attempting to collect a debt on behalf of The [redacted]), a property management (landlord) for a property that my husband briefly lived at for 7 months between July and March 2013/14. I have filed a complaint against The [redacted] also who have failed to respond. I have informed FCO that not only do I not have any contract with them, but also that I am in the process of going through litigation with The [redacted] and therefore since the account is being disputed, they are responsible for returning the account to The [redacted] and cease any and all collection attempts. They have failed to do so and I am inclined to take legal action against FCO also should they attempt to collect any further from either my husband or myself.Desired Settlement: Cease all collection attempts against both me and my husband and return the account to The [redacted] who I am in dispute with.

Review: the company has failed numoures times to provide me with debt validation on a debt they are reporting on my credit and wont take it off.Desired Settlement: remove debt from my credit that is not mine

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

This account does not validate anything. I can type up a quick generic statement as the one they sent and say some one owes me. What kind of company is this attacking and trying to collect from people who are not even liable for the debt that they claim. This is a fraud company.

Regards,

Review: FCO claimed they would delete my collection account from each credit bureau upon payment. The account is being shown as paid and was not deleted.

FCO

ACT NUMBER: [redacted]

ORIGINAL AMT: $325

DATE OF LAST ACTIVITY: 02/2012

I called FCO immediately after I started receiving phone calls regarding a collection that I owed. I called in February of 2012, and the representative that I spoke to went over information regarding the original creditor. The collection was legitimate, so I agreed to pay the account as long as FCO would agree to delete/remove the account from my credit report. The representative agreed to do so, so I paid the collection with the understanding that it would be removed from my credit profile.

I recently pulled up my credit report, and the account has not been deleted from my profile, instead marked as "paid". I would have never paid this if I would have known this is how it would be reported. I feel that I was lured into paying this account by the representative with a false promise to delete the account in return.

Within the guidelines of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, because this action was promised to me prior to payment, please immediately submit a deletion notice for this account to any and all credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). The initial purpose of paying the collection account was to have this item removed from my credit profile.Desired Settlement: Remove account from all credit reporting agencies

Review: Collection Agency has failed to provide documentation legally authorizing them to collect debt and report to credit bureaus.

This agency has been illegally reporting a collection account on my credit profile in the amount of $361 originating from damages reported by [redacted]'s [redacted] reporting as incurred in 2011. Numerous attempts have been made to validate their legal authority to report/collect this debt and account. Fair Collections and Outsourcing (FCO) has sent me a rental application (not a binding legal contract made between the apartment complex and myself. The completion of a rental application does not bind me to [redacted] at [redacted] in any way). FCO has also forwarded me an itemized list of charges created by [redacted] at [redacted] apartment complex. [redacted] at [redacted] is not listed as the creditor on the collection account summary. [redacted] is the original creditor, FCO has not provided me with any itemized charges from [redacted] and [redacted] has no record of me ever being a client with them. FCO continues to illegally report this account to my credit profile with no validation or legal ability to collect a debt on behalf of [redacted].Desired Settlement: Immediately remove account from reporting to my credit profile ([redacted]).

Review: I recently checked my credit report and saw a collection account for $6140. I contacted the collection company and asked for an explanation of the charge. They sent me a form with charges from an apartment complex that I do not recall living in.Desired Settlement: I would like to have this account removed from my credit report.

Review: Want to negotiate a settlement since the collection amount is not correct and will be dropping off the credit bureaus by October 2015. I have tried on numerous occasions to negotiate the debt, Acct# - [redacted], by making a payment arrangement since the amount of the debt is not correct. The debt is about 6 years old and yet I am willing to pay at least some of the debt.Desired Settlement: I have contacted [redacted], property management company of [redacted] to negotiate the amount owed. I would like a payment arrangement of $3000 made in payments of $300 a month for 10 months. I cannot make a lump sum payment since I live paycheck to paycheck.

Review: I co-signed for an apartment for a long time friend of mine, [redacted]. It was a one year lease. Before the end of his lease was up, he put in his 30 day notice and paid his last months rent. He spoke to the management of the apartment complex during his moveout and they said anything that was owed like unpaid utilities, rent, etc. would come out of his $1,300 deposit and the balance would be returned to the forwarding correct and current address he provided. I've known [redacted] a very long time and he pays his bills on time. On May 20, several months later, I received a notification from [redacted] monitoring that my credit report changed. I went online to look and my credit score and it had dropped by 82 points due to a collection on my credit report, reported by Fair Collections & Outsourcing. I did not understand why or how this happened so I immediately called this company to find out what was happening. They said they has been trying to reach me for some time that in regards to an unpaid balance leftover from when **. [redacted] moved out. I advised the collection agency that I had never received a written notice, bill or itemized statement or phone call regarding this issue, nor had I ever received communication or phone calls from their client [redacted]. I immediately called **. [redacted] and told him what was going on and he was baffled to learn this as he had no idea what was going on either. I advised him to call the collection agency FCO and arrange payment and we'd sort this out later. **. [redacted] made immediate payment to the collection agency without any type of statement or invoice being presented. I called back the collection agency and advised them payment was made and they confirmed. I asked them to have the collection entry on my credit report deleted because they should have never reported it in the first place. The collection agency refused to delete the credit entry despite clearly violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act and failing to render due diligence. They and their client entirely failed their due process by not properly communicating with **. [redacted] and myself. Not once was I contacted by [redacted] or the collection agency in writing or by phone. I receive a ton of blocked phone calls, but I never answer those due to spam and telemarketer calls, and no specific or identifying information was ever left on any voicemail. **. [redacted] never once received anything in writing or by phone. In fact neither one of us were sent an itemized statement of charges for his security deposit, no bill or invoice was ever sent. We had no previous indication of any past due balance owed or it would have simply been paid immediately at that time. Had the collection agency and its client been more forthcoming and actually communicated with us properly, this would have never happened and my credit would be in tact. The irresponsible collection account reported to my credit profile has cause me severe detriment financially. It will be another 7 years before I can make major moves, FCO Collections has destroyed my credit worthiness due to their own negligence. What I find disturbing is that his lease was up November 30, 2014. **. [redacted] was moved out before that date and had paid his last months rent. By January 1st, some 30 days later, [redacted] sent us to collections. How is that a fair business practice? FCO reported us to the credit bureau some five months later without ever sending a single written communication. Both [redacted]e and FCO has **. [redacted] and My current mailing addresses. [redacted] never denied the debt, he and I just never knew about it until I was notified by [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like Fair Credit & Outsourcing to delete the collection account entry on my credit report profile.

Review: Fair Collections & Outsourcing is attempting to collect a payment for a property, [redacted] Apartments ([redacted]), I previously rented at. I completed my lease at [redacted] and was on a month to month lease. I gave [redacted] proper written notice before leaving the property. I then received a collection notice from Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO), who was sent the debt from Chatham Hill, for Broken lease (early termination of a lease) & rent for the time the apartment was not rented. I have contacted Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO) to verify and validate this debt, because I did not enter another lease with [redacted] and do not owe these charges. Fair Collections & Outsourcing (FCO) has not been able to produce debt validation or verification. Since this incorrect collection has been sent out, it has been posted on my credit report.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is for this collection to be completely removed from my credit report and this account to be closed out.

Review: After transferring from [redacted] to [redacted] applied erroneous charges for pet damages. Attempts were made to obtain corrected billing and accounting from the manager with no success. All deposits, fees etc... were to have been transferred from previous [redacted] builidings as a matter of advertised policy. A collection agency was immediately hired without further notice. I was told I would recieve a corrected invoice. The collection agency is unable to provide a full accounting that includes deposits and fees applied which would negate the alleged debt. The charges are incorrect and the amount is wrong even if correct. [redacted] was bought by a private company and neither are able to provide accounting verifying the debt. The new management company, [redacted] is also unable to provide debt verification. I am currently in a former [redacted] building and this office ([redacted] station) and said numerous times in writing that they are unable to verify my account information. So, no company involved is able to provide correct accounting.Desired Settlement: Remove the account from all three collection agencies alltogether as well as Safe Rent and/or provide corrected billing information with full information and accounting and remove the account from all collection agencies as the alleged amount should have never gone to a collection agency and is now drastically affecting my ability to obtain suitable housing.

Review: Collection agency said once payment was made, it will be remove from credit. Payment was mad in 2008. I have disputed it several times and still remains on my credit. Experian only contains this info.Desired Settlement: Removal from Experian credit report

Review: Acct # [redacted]

To whom it may concern,

On May 26, 2014, I received a copy of my credit report. Fair Collections and Outsourcing was listed with a $130 balance. I had not received a collection notice or spoken with anyone about this account. On May 27, 2014 at 9:54 am, I spoke with Jerry. I inquired as to what this was and why I wasn’t notified. He stated that they sent me out a notification letter but it was returned to them as address unknow. The address He provided is not my address nor have I ever lived at that address. I offered to pay the debit in full for removal due to I was not given a chance to pay before it reported to the credit bureaus. He stated that his company does not remove information. I told him he was inviolation due to I have never received notification and he admitted it was returned to their office.

He did not provided me with the federally mandated "validation notice" indicating the name of the original creditor on the said debt, to whom I would owe this debt and how to proceed if I dispute the alleged debt.

Because they have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act I request that Fair Collections and Outsourcing either (a.) cease reporting that I have a debt owed to the 3 credit reporting bureaus, ([redacted] and [redacted]), and remove any accounts in which you have reported stating that I have a debt owed or (b.) I will have to pursue this matter further by reporting this violation to the Revdex.com, FTC and my states attorney general directly.

Thank you

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Removal of debit from all 3 credit bureaus for payment in full.
