Family Court Direct Reviews (100)

We have contacted Ms. [redacted] and are working on a resolve with her directly.  There was a miscommunication on Jurisdiction.  At the time of enrollment, she lived in Florida and was soon to be moving to Washington State.  Her original divorce was in Kansas and the opposing side...

lives in California.  Ms. [redacted] only paid $495 and made it seem to our legal professional that this was a Washington and/or a California Case. Having that she was moving to Washington, legal team proceeded with the paperwork for that jurisdiction.  Kansas cases run a bit more, $750 therefore throwing off our team and them thinking she wanted a change of jurisdiction.
We apologized for our miscommunication on our part, and again, we are looking to resolve this matter directly with her as soon as possible.  Family Court Direct did pay for the filing fees for the Washington Filing, and never received reimbursement for them.  We have forwarded the paperwork and receipt to Ms. [redacted] as per her request.
We are looking to resolve this in the coming days, but felt that we should update this complaint.
Regards,
Family Court Direct

Attached is our response to this complaint. Our company did provide legal support, and , to the best of our knowledge did use the legal documentation we produced. The case took an extraordinarily long time because the client did not perform the steps that they are required to do. In fact, we...

preformed services at no additional cost that we do not normally perform just to get this client their documents.

We are
Family Court Direct do our best to satisfy and meet every customers needs, so
we take every complaint very seriously. In the case of Mr. J[redacted]; he sign up
with us to request paperwork to establish paternity and custody over a child
that was not yet born. After his payment was complete we let him know that he
should expect documents 11/6/15. We had finished his documents on 11/9/15 and
were about to send them to him, when he sent in a DNA test result that he
already had been completed. This changed the entire set of documents that we
had to do for him. Instead of establishing paternity, we now had to establish
only custody. The legal professional working on his case then had to draft a
whole new set of documents.
Randell
J[redacted] did try to contact us on 11/16/15
and on 11/19/15 but was calling from a new phone number that was not given to
us. In addition he did not leave a voicemail either time. We also received an
email from him on 11/17/15 which was read on 11/18/15 and then followed up
with. We got in contact with Mr. J[redacted] on 11/19/15 and explained the situation
to him.
We have been in constant contact with Mr.
J[redacted] and are working on getting his new set of documents right now and are
almost finished. We at Family Court Direct take pride our work and being able
to help those in need. The last thing we ever intent is for a client to feel
like they are being taken advantage of or not being provided the service they
thought.
Regards,
Family Court Direct

Sometimes slow to reply but always responded to needs with a super reasonable price and service.

This matter has been resolved with the client directly. Due to the complexity of her case and due to the courts not allowing telephonic hearing, which is unusual given that she lives out of the state, we have decided that we can...

not help her with this case. Once she can move the case to her state, we agreed that we can help her then.
Best regards,

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10211538, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards,
[redacted]

Family Court Direct tried contacting both our Client [redacted] and her mother, who made the complaint and is not our client.  I was unable to successfully converse with either to apologize for any miscommunication or inconvenience and to assist in resolving any...

issue.
In looking further into the details of this case it looks like our Client [redacted] had received her documents on December 22nd, 2014. She then contacted us with revision requests on January 21st. That request was then sent to the the attorney working her case January 22nd. Any changes to documents can take a few days. The request from Ms. [redacted] was very clear in her email and a call was not necessary on our part.  We then got a response back from the attorney working her case on January 26th, however, before the response could be sent to client we had received notification of the complaint.
At this point, as mentioned above, we tried calling Ms. [redacted] to follow up with the complaint and they were simply very upset and just wanted a refund. Unfortunately, we can not provide a refund based on the work performed. The documents are properly competed and have been delivered with the comments back from the attorney that worked her case.
We are happy to continue working with Ms. [redacted] with any needed document in her case.

Review: In April of this year I, J[redacted], contacted Family Court Direct regarding my Paternity/Custody case. I spoke to a woman whom assured me that the lawyers in the firm would be able to assist me in handling my case, I made a payment to retain legal counsel shortly after speaking with the representative, in all paying seven hundred and fifty dollars to retain legal council to assist with accurately preparing all necessary documents needed. I spoke with and emailed Jeff L[redacted] frequently repetitively speaking of the importance of these documents as needed to further my case in court. On May 15th I made my last payment to Family Court Direct and I was assured that I would receive my documents no later than May 30th. Having Faith in Mr.L[redacted] and his legal team I waited. In the days coming close to May 30th I contacted Mr.L[redacted] again assuring me I would receive my documents in plenty time for court, which was approaching soon June 2nd,2015. May 30th came and went I did not receive my documents nor heard from Mr. L[redacted]. I sent him emails as well as contacted him and the Family Court Direct wanting to speak to someone in charge, all I got was voicemails. When Mr. L[redacted] did contact me back he said there was no need for the documents and I would be fine in court without filing them, I assured him that this was a direct order from the judge that I was to have these documents filed before the next court date or else no further action was to be taken, his response was that there was no need and that I was mistaken that there was no such thing as filing extensions with the court in my case, but neglected to tell me that before taking my money and the day before court tells me this. I went to court without the documents needed and therefore my case was dismissed. I paid to have legal council help represent me by preparing documents necessary for my court case which were promised to me but never received. I wish to have my payment in full back since no paperwork was prepared.Desired Settlement: I would like my full payment of seven hundred and fifty dollars refunded as I paid to have legal documents prepared and the council at the firm did not stand by on their agreement and did not prepare any paperwork on my behalf resulting in my case being dismissed.

Response:

Mr. D[redacted] contacted our service requesting that an extension be filed, to continue a hearing that had been scheduled. However, it appeared from the court documents Mr. D[redacted] had provided us that this had already been done and that the judge instead had ordered Mr. D[redacted] and the other parties to confer to attempt to settle the matter amongst themselves before the June 2nd trial date. It seemed that the biggest issue for Mr. D[redacted]'s case was locating and serving one of the other parties in the case. Locating the current addresses of parties is not a service that FCD provides, we are only able to refer persons who are need in of this service to a very low cost private investigator. Mr. D[redacted] did not wish to utilize this service. From the documents that were provided, our attorney concluded that Mr. D[redacted] was not to file a further extension, he was instead to appear before the judge to prove due diligence in attempting to locate the additional party to the case, which using a private investigator would have shown a great attempt at doing so. No documents could be prepared for Mr. D[redacted] to show that this had been done, and we could not prepare anything until Mr. D[redacted] was given leave by the court to continue without serving the additional party. Because Mr. D[redacted] did not show due diligence, his matter was dismissed. All efforts will be made to reach Mr. D[redacted] to resolve this matter amicably and to his satisfaction.

I am rejecting this response because:At this time I am awaiting a refund from the family court direct as a result to try to settle. When the case was still open and I was awaiting documents I was assured they were able to prepare the necessary documents I was informed by the judge. I was not informed until the day before by Mr. l[redacted] that he was unable to provide the necessary documents and insulted me by telling me I did not know what I was talking about, and that I needed to do more to try to contact the other man on the birth certificate, was not till the day before court that he suggested a private investigator.

We have made contact with Mr. D[redacted] and have come to a satisfactory resolution that is agreeable to him.

Review: I paid $750 to this company to complete legal papers for her to use in Atlanta, GA courts for child custody. They sent the initial papers, but have not responded to any of my daughters request to edit parts, which was told to me was part of the service. My daughter has been left in limbo and needs this issue resolved. They are not answering any of her messages by phone or e-mail. I tried to contact them also with no luck. We either want services rendered or my money back. It would be best to contact my daughter on this issue since it impacts her greatly. Her name is [redacted], xxx-xx-xxxx Thank youDesired Settlement: If they can't deliver services as promised, I want my money back.

Review: I paid them to draft papers for my divorce and they have not sent the documents to me for the past 2 court dates that I provided them. I have called and asked for some help or clarification and they just say that they will get back to me or not answer their phones or emails or messages. Also going over my records I over paid them for this service but I cannot get a hold of them to ask about it. Part of the agreement with them is no refunds but that was under the assumption that they would do their service. I have only received at most a partial service because my divorce is still being processed by the courts.Desired Settlement: I would be fine if I just got the overpaid ammount back and continue service with them IF THEY WOULD GET THE DOCUMENTS TO ME IN A TIMELY MANNER. If they cannot get the documents to me in a timely manner I would rather a full refund.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] was sent documents on November 3, with a request that he review them. He approved the documents and was provided with instructions for filing on November 11. Mr. [redacted] was then provided additional documents on December 4, which at this point it was believed that he had been provided with all documents needed. We then received an email from client on January 12, stating that he was still waiting for further documents. After researching, the documents that Mr. [redacted] stated he needed were provided to him on January 16. Family Court Direct strives to provide our clients with their needed documents as quickly as possible, and we feel that we have done so with Mr. [redacted]’s case. In regards to the extra payment received, we acknowledge that this was an error on our part, as a previously scheduled payment was not deactivated upon Mr. [redacted]’s change in payment plan. This additional payment has already been refunded to Mr. [redacted]’s account. At this time, Mr. [redacted] has been provided with all documents needed at this time and we consider his case to be completed for the time being. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10392220, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

These people are a joke. You can never get a hold of them for days. Seriously not worth your time or money. Had to send them documents that were not filled out, and then had to try to file 3 times and the courts wouldn't accept them because I was missing documents. I ended up hiring a lawyer.

I was really not sure what to do, cause my divorce was finalized in diffent county and was wanting to change my child custody. So they really help and answered my concerns and questions in a professional and timely manor. So just wanted to say Thank You to all that helped me from the beginning all the way to the end.

Family Court Direct was extremely helpful in assisting me with my case. These types of situations are almost always stressful, emotional, and not to mention financially straining. The staff was ready and willing to help-thank you Jeff! Through his assistance and expertise, I was able to finally get child support that was fair and deserved. The fees are very affordable. I highly recommend to any mother seeking legal guidance.

Review: The company advertises legal services that are targeted to helping women with legal matters and paperwork involved. They told me they could help me for a "reasonable fee" and even gave me a discount if I "paid-in-full" which of course I did because the matter was urgent. After receiving payment they reviewed my case and we both agreed they would not be able to help see me thru this because of how complicated the matter was. The representative stated he had to speak with his manager regarding issuing a refund but that I should receive a credit on whatever form of card I used within a fee days and that he would also call me back later on that day. He did not of course and after several phone calls and emails to both representatives working with me,([redacted] who was my main guy & [redacted] ? who would often return his calls for his so I suppose an asst.) I still have not received ANY communication from either of them leading me to believe the whole thing was a scam. I am a single mother of 5 and cannot believe I was taken advantage of like this and they have the nerve to say they are helping women?! :'( smhDesired Settlement: $750 was paid in one full charge and nooo work was done whatsoever in my case besides realizing they could not be much help and the rep Devin admitted to that when we discussed a refund.

Review: This company was easy to deal with, at first. After paying the fee, I did receive paperwork to file. They did not explain legal processes well and I had no background in the manner. I requested help for follow up questions and follow up paperwork needed related to responses filed. They said they would help then it would be weeks before I tried contacting them again, only to have the same excuses. They would state I would receive said response needed to file in a couple of days and it's been months now. I ended up having to find a lawyer that would set up payments just to finish getting the correct paperwork for my court case. The lawyer stated I didn't even have the right paperwork filed the first time, which I paid hundreds of dollars for to begin with. All they did was drag their feet and caused a really important child custody case to drag on for months, even though they new repeatedly it was for the safety of the children.Desired Settlement: I would like the $400 refund that I paid to have the paperwork made. They stated that they would help with response to petition I filed and they did not. They also did not send the correct paperwork to be filed to have the court case. I had to re-file, after hiring a lawyer out of pocket. The company also stated for me to send them the evidence and they would put it all together for me for trial. They would take weeks and now months to respond with constant promises, they never followed up on.

Amanda Condery is not our Customer. She entered this complaint (apparently) on the behalf of Mr. [redacted] – who is our customer. The details of his case and the necessary documentation was provided to him, and he filed our documentation with the court. We take our customer’s satisfaction very seriously , but he has not contacted us in any way to express dissatisfaction and since he did file the paperwork, we feel like we have provided exactly the service that was ordered. Mr. [redacted] enrolled in and signed the attached agreement stating our services clearly. Mr. [redacted] did in fact receive paperwork with instructions that were the correct forms they asked for, as our Attorney’s and Legal Professionals all use the required forms by the Florida Supreme Court. Mr. [redacted] received his ordered documents on July 31st and then they were filed according to the court docket. Mr. [redacted] then requested additional documents and I believe that is where there was a miscommunication. Once we learned of his complaint, we reached out to him and there was never an answer or option to leave a voicemail, as we wanted to actually speak with Mr. [redacted]. In this matter, Mr. [redacted] is not entitled to a full refund due to the fact that we did deliver the documents he initially signed up for. We are happy to provide additional documents related to this case as needed in the future at no additional cost to Mr. [redacted]. We emphasize to all our clients that we cannot guarantee they will get the judgment they want from the court – no company can do that. We can only promise to prepare that paperwork they request in the proper manner. Sometimes, if a client loses their case, they (or their significant other) feels like this means our service was somehow inadequate and complains. But again, our service and the outcome of the case are two separate issues.Regards,Family Court Direct

I had "hired" their legal team to ensure my process of relocation with my child out of state to home state. I was getting ready to move when I got served and couldn't leave the state. Their supposed "Legal Team" forgot to mention a VITAL piece information, that I was to no longer to follow the past state law but the current state the child lives in, as it then becomes their jurisdiction. This company almost cost me a Kidnapping charge as well as almost loosing my child for their lack of acknowledged!!! I hired you to cover my basis and on top of it all I got no apology either...you should be ashamed....!!!

Review: I tried there service and wasn't what I thought it was nerve was told that I cant get my money back at the time until I wanted a refund then they said I can't get a refund all I did was talk to someone no papers was exchange or nothing. Considering they help with low income people they could have been more considerate and refund my money cause nothing was done no paperwork filed or anything just phone calls.Desired Settlement: All I want is my $139 back nothing was resolved

Response:

In spite of the fact that we did perform work for this client, we give a full refund due to the poor communication in this transaction. Mr. [redacted] should receive his full refund of $189.95 as of today.

I am so thankful I found this company! They have helped me and my family with custody. At first I thought it could be a scam because the fees was so cheap but after I was reassured it wasnt I just took the risk because I couldnt afford a freaking attorney anyways and glad I did.

Review: I am filing a complaint against this company because I had to close my bank account in order for them to not take anymore of my money due to the fact that no one ever answers the calls or calls you back and the first number we had for them is no longer in service. I have asked them for my 245.00 back because we do not wish to be taken advantage of and we have no proof they ever done anything for us to pay them as much as we did.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back due to the fact that no services were ever rendered

Alicia N[redacted] is not our customer, but we believe they are complaining on behalf of J[redacted] whom is our customer. These third party complaints are very difficult to respond to because we are not in direct contact with the third party complaining. In this case, Alicia N[redacted] is not the person that signed up and agreed to the service terms.

Review: I inquired about services with Family Court Direct and was given a call by a Customer services rep about the services. I was told I would be given a call from a case manager then my process will be explained in greater details then services will start. I received email and call from the case manager welcoming me and a pdf of 26 pages to fill out. When I signed on I was told that my case manager would go over everything and see if I am a suited candidate. My card has already been charged once 250 dollars and services have not even been started. I was told that a payment had to be set up but I was not told it would be taken before I even spoke to anyone. After this happened I realized that this may not be the route I should take. I have made numerous calls to get a hold of anyone and my calls all go through an automated system and directed back to the so called case manager. You basically never get to speak to anyone unless they call which is not right.I emailed and called and text stating I want my 250 dollars back and to not charge my acct one more cent. Still no response.Desired Settlement: I want my 250 refunded immediately and nothing else taken out of my account.
