Good afternoon. this Mike Keller, my daughter and my 3 grandchildren have been renting from first key homes since August. the children are 3, 5,and 7. first key homes has been everything but satisfactory in their assistance with a concern with this home that has had my daughter, my son-in-law, 3 grand children living in the only room of the house that was not flooded by a pipe that burst due to the fact that an expansion tank was never installed prior to renting this home. They were told that they were not just paying rent to live there but they were paying for a place to store their belongings and have a roof over their head with heat. Might I add that it doesn't cost 1200.00 a month to store belonging's. and a hotel room is approx.1200 a month. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with sense Block Busters. I have every intention to contact Channel 2, 5, and 11 to see who will take this report. My Daughter and Grandchildren are going to end up having their Christmas in their for 1200 a month that is still under these conditions. it is totally Unacceptable!

I gave them 1 star only because it doesn't allow anything less of 1 star. I would encourage to rent through any other company except US Revi. And Firstkey Home. Us Revi purchase the home, rents them out and then within 3 months sell their homes to FirstKey Homes. Their system is designed to fail their customers. If you decide to rent through them make sure you read your lease throughly. You will regret it. Any chance they can get to charge you excessive fees they will do it. Even if its your last month rent, if you don't pay regardless of whatever personal issue you have going on. They are heartless and careless they will evict you. Today their lawyer and their regional manager Sarah stood in court and lied to win their case. If you try to reach out to their corporate office for help, they dont respond in a timely fashion and IF and when they do respond, Scott sends a generic response of how he will look into your case to resolve the matter only to not resolve it. He also provide only a generic email as a way to get in contact with him. He never send a phone number and he never follows up afterwards.

You will experience homes with tons of maintenance issues that will take month for them to repair.

They are out to ruin your credit to make it difficult for you to rent elsewhere.

They talk down to you and are very rude.

You will experience charges to your account thats not accurate.

And their response time from anyone is limited.

Their company is all about "Money". Not customer service not retention of customers, its just about money.

When ever friends and family and people I know are looking for homes I tell them to stay away from Us Revi and First Key Home. Theose company are bad for buisness. If you see their signs in the yards keep rolling.

there has to be a class action suit

I am very realistic and when I has one of my bathrooms unusable and water leaking , I reported it and understood it takes time to evaluate and obtain estimates Is the norm. I knew they would fix the issue to their best ability and they went above and beyond! Great property co! Great maintenance procedures. Thankful they took over this house and helped me ! Communication, realistic expectations and patience and everyone wins !

My experience with Firstkey Homes was, at first, frustrating. With the help of my agent, Tina, it turned out to be wonderful. My frustration was with the fact that every house I liked and wanted to view was already taken. I met with Tina, told her my expectations and ended up with a house I really love. Tina is very professional, but easy to talk to. She listened to my specifications and worked with me to get a house that surpassed my original plans! She answered any questions or concerns that I had. I was so impressed with her that when my daughter said a friend of hers was looking to rent a home, I told her to contact Tina at Firstkey, and gave her the number! I love my house and love my agent! Thanks Tina! GOD Bless!

Do NOT rent from First key homes...
FIRSTKEY HOMES RENTALS WRONGED ME·WEDNESDAY, MAY 2, 2018
They DO NOT or WILL NOT help if you get hit with income loss, lost a few days at work for being slow. or hospitalized for anything. Family emergancy, or have a delayed check. They will hit you with late fees after the 3rd of every month. They will ignore your colls when time coMes to make Your WHOLE payment. CAUSE THEY DONT DO PARTIAL PAYMENTS. So beware of FIRST KEY HOMES RENTALS. They will take you to court and make YOU PAY for their time their lawyers and every cent you owe. They DO NOT care if you have mouths to feed. Schooling for your kids. Or the fact you’ll have the money to pay RENT they will make you pay every thing out of your pockets. Even after you decide you DO NOT want to stay and you give them your 60 day notice, They will take you to court for your whole deposite and much much more. JUST LOOK UP... BLT HOMES ... Same company but now with a different name. Go read those comments and the reviews... either way you are effin screwed.. DO NOT RENT... WHEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE ALWAYS LOOK AND SEE WHOS RENTING IT OUT TRUST ME YU DO NOT WANT TO RENT FROM THEM. They are rude. they do NOT care and they will ignore you on purpose and you will pay more and more and they will jake up the rent to 150 every year. So if you cant afford it or think you might you CANT. They will not let you. And if you owe them anything at the end of your lease they will put out a judgement on you, they WANT to make it so hard for you to rent from someone else and make youR business public and you will be denied FOR every house you see applied for or if you want to buy. Just kiss that GOODBYE. They will torment you and they will make it hard and you’ll have to stay RIGHT WITH THEM Like they want or they planned for. DO NOT RENT... DO NOT RENT... DO NOT EFFIN RENT... THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE A EFFIN STAR I WOULD RATE THEM AS A PILE OF ST (POOP)

Let's start a class action suit

This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I cannot even find a place to begin telling my awful experience. There is so much to tell it's sickening. From day one it has been miserable. Worst part is the unprofessional and highly unethical Indianapolis area manager. She has no business managing anything with her infantile schemes. I felt like I was dealing with a teenager. Not to mention the lack of understanding or compassion. I cried to this woman begging for help. I was pregnant in July with no air conditioning. That is just one of the many issues. The last year has been endless maintenance problems that have went unresolved. I have paid out my own pocket to fix things and it has literally been a year since I was promised several repairs to be done. Never happened. The contractors that came to my house didn't have anything nice to say about this company either. The company won't answer or return my calls. I just hope and pray that I can end my lease and never experience a company like this again.

I'm currently trying to get ahold of them for the flooring . Cause who ever layed it down did a cut happy job and its peeling up everywhere. It's been 4 months since I submitted my request . I have to repeatedly call to talk to someone cause leaving messages I don't get responses . I had 3 people...

out here looking at it and said they had to put the papers in and wait for approval . I tried to call last week didn't get answer . I called Monday and said the flooring company will contact me that day and has yet to. There is a lot of communication problems between first key and their contractors . They don't respond to emergency issues . It's so hard to get ahold of someone . I've called 3 times today to see what was going on and left messages and no one has responded .

3 days before move-in, November 7th, we found that the bathroom sinks did not drain well. We were told, "I wouldn't worry about it, I know a guy" by a guy named [redacted]. Of all the issues with the house that we could overlook, this was not one of them. In addition, the company really fumbled the ball with how they explained the cost for the rental agreement (First months rent, security deposit, the actual deposit and their "special" of a month free! [supposedly in December]). After being explained it several times by the agent, we still had no idea so we asked the company by email. They couldn't get it to us straight either but we needed a place so we took it. Boy DID we take it.
The drainage issue was never repaired and, in actuality, was worse than we thought. It drained slowly and sometimes not at all. We tried clearing the drain ourselves but it did not seem to affect the flow in the slightest. We contacted them several times over the course of two months before they finally had someone come out to fix it. Each time they told us that someone would be in contact with us to setup a date and time. Obviously, they either lost our appointment or did not care to do it.
Even further with the maintenance, there are issues we contacted them about the first week that, 3 months later, still have not been looked at. They are not minor in nature either. We have no problem doing any maintenance at our house because we can fix many things ourselves. Yet, we won't risk it when we know BLT could charge us for damages or liability.
As far as the money situation went, we paid the security deposit and the rest of the deposit plus the pro rated amount for November. Everything seemed fine but close to December, we paid the rent and checked it online. It showed that we actually received the credit towards the first month, with the pro rated remaining amount as being used towards the second month. We were told, to start with, the credit would work towards the December amount. When we paid towards December and checked it out online, it looked like we were squared away until February 1st! That looked ridiculous so we attempted to contact them 5 times over 2 weeks before they gave us a call on the 3rd week. [redacted] the finance guy said we were good until February and that we didn't have to worry, it came up on his side. We were somewhat perturbed by this but saving money is never a bad thing so we just moved on. January 4th comes along and BLT deducts the rent out of my account for bills. We were not expecting it so the account did not have anything close to the amount stored in. They did not try to contact us until a couple days after we noticed it ourselves, around the 9th. My roommate, a music teacher at a local school system, had to stop his class so that he could make an emergency payment (to avoid eviction). So we had to deal with overdraft charges and potential evictions, all because a guy named [redacted] told us "Not to worry".
All in all, we've had a pretty rough experience here. I was cut off on the phone by people in the home office and the people at the local office are so incompetent that the home office took control of practically anything that did not NEED to BE local. They may be rude but its only going to work against them.

In September of last year we lost almost everything we own, our apartment and everything inside of it, due to flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. To not be a burden to family we found the first place we could to rent.

Unfortunately for us, we signed a lease with US Revi Rentals. From the get go there were issues with the house that they promised us they would fix before we moved in...that didn't happen...in fact, it didn't happen until 3 months later we withheld half a month of rent AND send an email to the Vice President of the company.

Even after all of that, the contractors they sent to make repairs were disrespectful and became hostile when asked to leave the property; one of them went to his vehicle and came back into our garage attempting to place something in our garage. We have no idea what he was trying to place in it, but we had already asked him to leave and he still came back into our garage.
Since then, other things have stopped working, including the oven provided by the company, which by contract they are responsible for repairing it.

At some point (we have no idea when) our contract was sold (or maybe US REVI and FirstKey are of the same company, either way, it is shady) to FirstKey Homes. We hoped that they would take better care of the property than US Revi Rentals did, but much to our disappointment, they haven't.
Things that were supposed to be fixed before we moved in still aren't fixed, the new items we have sent requests to have fixed, still have not been fixed. This company is only out for one thing and that is to line their pockets with as much cash as possible while their tenants suffer the consequences of their lack of caring.
We are not the only people to have a problem with both of these companies, a Google search will show you who these people really are.
To make matters worse, when we attempted to find a new place to live, whoever the people we were trying to rent a new place from spoke to must have told them all kinds of lies, because one place went from being ready to move us in, to denying us completely after speaking to FirstKey. They refuse to say what the reason was for denying us, but they went from sounding positive about renting to us due to our income being over 5 times the monthly rent and side stepping rental reference because they initially had trouble reaching FirstKey on 3/8/2018, to blowing us off on 3/9, 3/12 and finally telling us they won't rent to us on 3/13. That is not a coincidence. We have given up our mission to get out, because we sense that any attempt will be futile due to the slander of this company.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! THEY ARE GREEDY AND HAVE ZERO CARE OR COMPASSION FOR THEIR TENANTS.

we have to start a class action lawsuit as well as send letters to your investigative news reporters and 20/20

I am not at all surprised to read all these terrible reviews of First Key Homes. We have been trying with increasing frequency for a full month to contact someone in our local office regarding our intent to vacate, and have yet to receive a single call back. Judging from others' experience, I guess the only option left is legal action. Way to go Fiest Key!

This company is terrible. Just like Helen Davis said Marcella Holley is the most unprofessional leasing agent I have dealt with. She's very insensitive. She wants you to have what she wants you to have. I got approved for what she wanted me to have 2 months ago I didn't take it. I just applied for a home I liked and I was disapproved. You complain to the manager she does nothing. I think it's a blessing that I didn't deal with them. Marcella needs to be FIRED! So unprofessional no people skills at all.

An emergency maintenance request fir my air conditioner in over 90 degree weather that has not been fixed in over 21 days.
09/12/17 my AC was running but no cold air was coming out. The home was 86 degrees inside and 93 degrees outside. I called and left a voicemail on the maintenance request line and submitted an emergency maint request online. I did not get a call or email back. 09/13/17 *** came to my home and said it was running but completely out of Freon, which means it had a bad leak. He said he did not have authorization from First Key Homes to fix my AC and he would have someone call me. I left several messages on the First Key maint line with no return calls Thursday and Friday. So I called *** back Friday afternoon and they said that I would have to call first thing Monday morning for a status of my AC being fixed because First Key's office is now closed. Over the weekend the temp outside reached 94 degrees and the inside of the home reached 89 degrees. Me and my children were unable to stay in my home 09/12/17-09/18/17. Sept 18, I called *** back after no return call from First Key Homes again. They said they still have not gotten an authorization to fix my AC but will call me back. Monday afternoon *** came out and refilled my Freon but said I had a bad leak and would need to run tests. The Freon lasted until 09/22/17. At that time I called *** back. They said they could not refill the Freon or fix the leak without authorization from First Key Home. Again, no return call from First Key. *** said he would contact them first thing Saturday morning for me. Again we could not stay in the home. The house was 86 degrees. *** came out Saturday afternoon to refill the Freon but not fix the leak. They said they would have to run a balloon test to find the leak. The Freon ran out again on 09/26/17. I spoke to Celestrial at First Key Homes maint Tuesday afternoon, who said they would have a different AC company bring me portable units to make the home livable that evening. No one came to my home that night. We couldn't stay in the home. I called back and was told that an AC repair man would be at my home 09/27/17 to fix the leak and leave units if they cannot fix it and would be there between the hours of 8-12. A man from AC Experts called at 10 am 09/27/17 and said that they would have to cancel. I called Celestrial with First Key back and said this is unacceptable, I stayed home from work to be here. She said she would speak with their supervisor. She called me back and said a technician was on his way at 10:15 am. The technician showed up at 6 pm and this caused me to miss a full work day unpaid.I am a single mom with 2 jobs. I spoke to Carmen the manager in my area. She prorated my rent for $125 to compensate me for my time missing work for the half of day 09/18/17 and the whole day 09/27/17. Sept 27 they did not fix the leak and I was told they would be back out to run lines through my attic. The technician left 2 window units for my 4 bedroom home. Since 09/27/17 my children have been sleeping in 1 bed together because there is only one unit between the two of them, and one unit for my bedroom. I did not hear back from First Key Homes or AC experts for the rest of the week. I called First Key Homes 10/02/17 and spoke with Celestrial. She did not know when they would be back to repair my air conditioner. She said she would call them. I called the AC company myself and they said they sent a quote for repairs on 09/28/17 and was waiting on First Key's approval. I called the manager Carmen and explained. She put me on hold and gave the call back to Celestrial, who sounded annoyed. I explained that AC Experts told me that they are waiting for an approval for a quote they sent over 10/28/17. My meter reads 86 degrees and my kids are sharing a bed. I was told I would get a call back when the quote was approved and schedule a time for them to come out to fix it. Today is 10/03/17 and it has been over 21 days that my AC has been broken. I did not withhold rent. I paid $1125.00 which was with the $125 prorate.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting that my air conditioner be fixed immediately. I pay my rent on a timely manner every month and I expect an emergency maintenance request to be fixed in a timely manner as well.

Customer Response

October 10, 2017 AC Experts came out to my house at 6:00 pm and was there until 11:00 pm running lines through my attic. My air conditioner is fixed and has been working properly ever since. I was not happy about it taking a month to get it repaired but I am happy it is finally fixed. Thank you for your help in this matter.

I was a tenant with FirstKey Homes. Based on the move out statement, the resident charges include retaining my security deposit for normal wear and tear by FirstKey Homes. Based on Florida law, this is not a valid reason to retain security deposit.
Product_Or_Service: Rental

Desired Outcome

Refund I desire a security deposit refund of $845.

FirstKey Homes Response

Unfortunately, no previous correspondence was received this concern.
Tenants did not contact management regarding charges or requests for adjustments upon receipt of the itemized charges being held against their security deposit as written in Florida Statutes Chapter 83. Itemized charges were sent to the address on file in Mid July
Upon receiving this complaint and reviewing our records of the photos taken during the move out inspection, we were able to amend the original statement and issued an additional credit of $270.00.
The updated statement and refund was recently mailed out to the contact addressed listed on complaint. We appreciate the opportunity to rectify the situation and apologize for the inconvenience.

This company is so poorly ran I don't know how they stay in business. The only thing the office will be interested in is collecting the rent on time. Maintenance issues on the other hand will be dragged out for months with no resolution.

Have lived in a property since October 2016 complained about an sewer smell in the home was not fixed until April of 2017. The house is infested with mice because of a whole behind the dish washer. We have been harassed about not paying rent when in fact rent jas been paid. The home office blames coporate and coporate blames the home office. I am in the process of looking for a different home with a different company.I will never rent from First key again. Horrible property management company.

Complaint30+ days without heat I put in a request to have my pilot lit on Thurdsay, October 15th, 2015 since the heat didn't come on after turning on the thermostat. Since then First Key had someone come to my home to "light the pilot" but that wasn't the issue. The next time someone came out they were supposed to be looking into either fixing or replacing the furnace. One or two weeks passed by and I still didn't hear anything back from the maintenance department about the furnace. I spoke with [redacted] and she informed me that maintenance was waiting for an approval from their corporate office in [redacted]. I waited some more days and still didn't hear anything back. On Monday November 9th, 2015 I called [redacted] and she told me that someone would call me by the end of the day. Of course no one called so I then called her back and she said she can get someone to call/come by in the morning. On Tuesday November 10th, 2015 another guy came by my home without calling to inform me and was not able to get in. I asked [redacted] could I speak with someone in management because this issue has been ongoing for almost a month without heat. [redacted] told me that she could have a guy that's efficient with heating/air to come to my home on Wednesday, November 11th, 2015. He came by my home to look at the furnace again. On Thursday, November 12th, 2015 I had the local light/gas/water company come to my home to make sure that the current furnace wasn't a CO2 hazard. After coming by my home and looking at the furnace the [redacted] emergency employee suggested that they keep the gas off and would come back out to turn it on once the furnace is replaced. According to the lease between the months November 1 - March 1, heating issues are an emergency. In addition, on their website it states that it's also an emergency when it's below 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Today makes 32 days since I've been without heat and 16 days it's supposed to be in emergency status. Moreover I cannot use my stove to cook food since my gas is turned off. This issue needs to be resolved immediately. I'm also seeking legal advice as to what renter's rights I have. I also have withheld rent although rent and maintenance are two separate issues and not paying rent could result in eviction if it's not paid by the end of the month. I don't think it's fair to me as renter to provide a rent payment to a company that seems not to care about my family's well being. Over the weekend there was a frost advisory and it was pretty cold in the home. I'm afraid that this issue is not going to get resolved leaving me in a situation where the landlord can do as they please knowing I have to pay rent. I would like for First Key to allow this month's rent to be probated if at all possible since this issue has been ongoing for more than 30 days.Desired SettlementI would like for the month of November to be probatedBusiness Response The complaint filed by Ms. [redacted], Case # XXXXXXXX has been resolved.
