Fitness Connection Reviews (76)

Hello, I have attached a copy of Ms Ferrell’s agreement and highlighted the areas that show the annual fee as well as the procedure to cancel. At this time, we have not received a letter from her to cancel and her membership is still active. These terms were agreed upon enrolling. We have not...

changed the terms of the agreement. Every member must provide a letter to the address provided on the contract in order the cancel the membership. Thank you, [redacted]National Marketing & Brand ManagerFitness ConnectionPhone: [redacted]Email: [redacted]

Despite telling the manager I wanted to cancel within 2 days of my membership and being told I couldn't (despite customer service tell me I could!). I was sent a form to fill out by their customer service which I promply filled out and sent in. I also followed up with several emails and nobody ever returned my emails or calls. Now 3 MONTHS later I started getting collections calls!? This company is a scam!

Their cancellation policy is ridiculous. In the contract, it says that you must send a letter to cancel. I did not see anywhere that it stated that it HAS to be certified. Several months later I received a letter from a collections agency that I owed them $43.26. This shocked me not only because it was months later, but also because they were willing to attempt to ruin a young adult's credit for a measly $43.26. The collections agencies usually take a hefty percentage of that anyways, so their "profit" would have been even less. Anyways, I called the collections agency to find out why I had this debt that I should not have. They informed me that the letter should have been certified. Therefore, I had to pay the debt. I will never restore my membership here, and I will warn others from joining as well.

Fitness Connection records show [redacted] did upgrade her membership to lower
her dues on February **, 2014. Our upgrade policy is that you must have been a
member for 90 days (all billings have to be in good standing), at that time you
may upgrade but you will have to pay the difference in the down payment. We do
run specials from time to time but we do not allow upgrades on special
memberships.
At this time Fitness Connection will not issue a refund and respectfully ask
that this case be closed as resolved.

Fitness
Connection records show that a Ms. [redacted] presented the visa card has
hers and authorized that this card be used as her form of monthly billing /
postdated payment per the agreement. Ms. [redacted] happens to have the same
address, phone, and email on file as Mr. [redacted] has on this complaint.
At
this time Fitness Connection asks for proof that Mr. [redacted] has always
been the only authorized signer and creditor on the account. We feel that Ms.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  The woman who called refused to send copies of the documents. I don't know how they decide how much we owe when no contact was made regarding a monthly charge. We did not use the facility during the months they claim we owe for.
Regards,

Fitness Connection does apologize for the inconvenience, attached are the documents requested. All charges and fees are based on the agreements signed, also memberships are not based on usage and solely on the month to month deduction until a proper cancellation is made.
Fitness Connection respectfully request that the file be closed as resolved.

Fitness Connection records show that [redacted] was issued a refund on 2/**/2014 in the amount of $53.85. Per [redacted] authorized agreement she must give a 30 Day notice to cancel, cancelation request was in July making August the last billing. We had also had a pending balance that would have covered Septembers dues, bringing us to refund 10/2013-2/2014 billings of $10.77 each.

At this time Fitness Connection asks that this case be closed as resolved.

4/2/2016: The club cancelled my already scheduled personal training session only hours before the scheduled time, because the trainer was no longer with them. Did they not know the trainer quit the day before?
4/6/2016: I signed up for a year of personal training, but the club took extra month of training cost, because the first month was prorated per the club. The club charged me $1.00 less than the full amount on the first month, because I signed the contract on the 3rd of May, not the 1st of the month. As a result, I did not realize, but in fact, I signed up for 13 months of training, not just 12 months, which was a surprise to me. Since the period of the training was up on the contract as of May 1 after paying for the whole month of May, I wanted to make sure they stop automatic withdrawal from my credit card on June 1, 2016. The general manager of the club told me that I had to cancel the contract by calling a Billing company. When I called the billing company with the phone number supplied by the general manager of the club, I was told that the club manager is the only one who can cancel my contract. I called the club manager and he refused to talk to me on the phone. When I asked to speak to the person the general manger is reporting to, he came on the phone. I told him what Laura at [redacted] billing told me, that he was the one who has to cancel my contract to stop the automatic withdrawal of monthly fee, then he said he would cancel my contract and charge me for May in advance that very day. I told him that that would be fine and just stop/cancel whatever is necessary to end this contract! He said that he would cancel my contract and send me an email confirmation within 2 days or less. I also asked him for the name and contact information of the person he reports to. He gave me the name of the person and that person would be contacting me within a day or so.
4/9/2016: They re-schedule someone to train me the following week on 4/9/2016, but they cancelled again and informed me that the club no longer can provide training on Saturdays, which is only day of the week that I can train due to my work schedule. I went down to the club and there was someone who told me that they could schedule training sessions on Saturdays, though it has not happened yet.
4/13/2016: Still no email or call from the club. I went back to the club and asked the general manager to cancel the contract again and he said, he could not, because I can only cancel on the 1st day of the month, not before, for the next month of billing. He said, he could not absolutely cancel anything more than 30 days in advance! I demanded he cancel my contract on the computer while I was standing and watching him do it. He said it would not work.
Then, later that day, the general manager told me that he had in fact cancelled my contract last week and had taken the money for the month of May in advance. Then, he told me that I have until the end of May to complete 8 training sessions. When I signed up for a year of personal training, the club promised me once weekly training on Saturdays. The club still owes me 8 training sessions and I was told, I had to take them all by the end of May. I have a tentative training session scheduled for Monday, as I am in between jobs for the week of 4/18/16 and hopefully, I can work with the assigned trainer to schedule Saturday sessions for the remainder of the time. It is the club that cancelled my Saturday training sessions, but I may lose a couple of sessions even though they are all paid for now. People I had to deal with at Fitness Connection located at 6240 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612 definitely have a flavor of con-artists and make it difficult for me to sign anything ever again.
