Review: I became a member to The Edge fitness in August of 2012, this past August made it 3 years I have been a member. I have repeatedly made several attempts as stated in our contracts to cancell membership we the member have to email ABC financial requesting cancellation of membership, I followed all steps noted in my contract. On August the 15, 2015 a withdrawal was made on my account for the amount of $102.16 from ABC financial they stated my contract was up I needed to renew my contract the charges made were for monthly membership fees and service fees for funds not being available. I have a print out of the charges made and it stated that I on August the 15th,2015 went in to the clubpersonally and made that payment of $102.16. 100% false I never made that payment they took it upon themselves to withdraw that amount without the members concent. There have been tons of complaints from prior members that have experienced this same problem. It's been also reported of members being sent to collections for payments that were not payed to ABC financial when the member clearly does not owe the club any payment. The club and ABC financial should be investigated for this unjust practice. Members end up paying amounts they shouldn't be paying so our credit isn't affected.Desired Settlement: Investigate, see prior member comments in reference to this issue. And we should be fully refunded for amounts that we the members should have not had to pay.

Response:

FYI: this member was cancelled with nothing further due. Thanks.

Review: Through a promotion, I called The Edge Fitness Clubs for a membership over the phone. I was told that my membership would not begin for billing until October, 2015. I had some personal issues come up and I was unable to move forward with my membership. I called right away to cancel the membership, within 5 days. I was told that my membership could not be canceled unless I spoke with a manager. The manager was out of the office so I left a message for her. She never called me back.

One week later I phoned again and no one answered the phone.

The following week I phoned again and again and was not able to get the manager on the phone or no one picked up the phone. I began emailing The Edge at the contact emails that I was provided with for my membership confirmation as a contact and one message was returned as undeliverable, but one did go through. I emailed this address twice and no one bothered to reply.

I called again on Thursday, September 24th and after waiting on hold for over 15 minutes finally spoke with a manager. The manager advised me that a separate billing company called [redacted] Financial would have to be contacted because they handle their membership cancellations and refunds.

I emailed [redacted] Financial on Friday, September 25th and advised them that I did not sign any contract with The Edge Fitness Clubs, and explained my situation of calling and calling to get this resolved to no avail and assured this agency that if my credit card gets charged, I will be issuing a chargeback.

Sue K[redacted] from [redacted] Financial replied to me and told me that she turned off auto billing and I wasn't entitled to a refund. I now will be billed and at an additional fee because of the automatic payments being turned off.

I did not sign any contract with The Edge, and more importantly I have never even stepped foot inside their establishment! I attempted to cancel this membership in a timely manner and they made it extremely convenient by not returning my phone calls and emails and push me off to their billing company to not be at fault or to refuse cancellation of my membership. The way this was handled is extremely unprofessional.

I really need to reiterate that I did not sign any agreement with The Edge and feel that they have absolutely no right to bill me.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is a membership cancellation without being billed.

To Whom It May Concern: I have been contacted by The Edge Fitness Clubs and my membership has been canceled. I would like to remove my complaint #[redacted]. Thank you very much, I feel that without Revdex.com, I would have not received a resolution. Warm Regards, [redacted]

Review: I tried to cancel my gym membership by calling the location via phone in February. The gentleman on the phone instructed me to wait until the end of March, when my 3/30/2015 payment came out to finish my contract that I would be responsible for NO fees other then the last one owed for March. I found out the information he gave me was wrong when I went to cancel with [redacted] and they charged me a 42 fee for a year fee and are expected to charge me again at the end of this month They are saying lack of 30 days notice, but my phone call was well OVER 30 days and I gave notice via phone by contacting the gym.. it isn't my fault that the representative gave me the wrong info and NO Number for [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like the fee reversed for the yearly charges and my account to no longer be charged by the gym because I did follow the rules of the contract by giving the 30 days notice, but their staff gave me the wrong way in handling the cancellation. Thank you.

Response:

We can only see that you did call [redacted] on 3/31 to cancel the membership and they let you now you would be responsible to make the last payment of 4/28/15. I have cancelled your membership immediately with nothing further due.

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I have proof of contacting the gym prior that I can send showing the gym is not telling abc financial the whole truth. I have my phone records showing the call in January with time stamp.

Sincerely,

Review: Edge fitness refused to cancel my contract during my medical reason with a doctor note.

Edge fitness lie to me in order to make the sale.

Edge fitness in Greenwich, CT told me if I move out of the area, or have a doctor note, I can cancel my membership any time. THAT IS A LIE!!!!

I found out I'm pregnant after couple months joined edge fitness. I told them I feel suffocated and cannot breathe in the gym, because the gym is in the basement. I have to climb the stairs to breathe every 10 minutes during my workout. I do not want to risk my baby and myself by being forced to stay with Edge fitness. But Edge fitness FORCES me to stay. I gave them my doctor note and told them I'm pregnant, I cannot continue working out here anymore. Edge fitness told me I must have a permanent disability in order to cancel my membership. Edge fitness REFUSE to cancel my membership. I have never heard of this ridiculous reason from any fitness clubs in the world. Edge fitness NEVER told me I must have a permanent disability to cancel the membership before I signed up. I'm upsad and frustrated with Edge fitness by trying to resolve this issue and affect my state of mind, and leading to serious emotion problem while I'm pregnant. I do not want to go back to the gym after I deliver the baby, due to their horrible attitude of forcing their members to stay, and also because the gym is in basement, air quality and the level of hygiene there are not as good as I would put myself and my baby in that environment. They should proceed the cancellation immediate with an unsatisfied member instead of compels me to stay with them.Desired Settlement: Cancel my membership and refund the last 1 months membership charge due to the time Edge fitness wasted on keep emailing to force me to stay.

Business

Response:

The Edge will cancel her membership with nothing further due. Because her due date is tomorrow, we can't stop the draft, but will refund it back. Good luck & congratulations on your pregnancy. This will be one less thing to worry about.

She did speak with [redacted] our third party billing company and they were just abiding by the terms of the agreement.

Review: I am trying to terminate my month to month membership with the Fitness Edge Health Club. I appeared at the club on February 17, 2013 to do so. I was given a card and told I needed to resign via email. My resignation email was sent on February 19, 2013. I received a confirming email from Fitness Edge/ABC Financial that same day. Four days later (February 23), I received another email from them stating that I need to send my request via certified mail. Clearly, this request was nothing more than an impediment to resignation. They had my resignation and through two emails, acknowledged receipt of it. I asked for a copy of my membership agreement to verify what they represented to me. The copy was not sent to me until March 14, 2013. I took this delay as another attempt to delay and or thwart my resignation. I am now being told that my payment due 2/28 is overdue, is increased because I stopped allowing a credit card charge and has a late fee. I am also told that I will have a payment due on 3/30 and that other charges are added. Bottom line, I need to pay $188.50 to resign!! They seem to be saying that my resignation was not valid until it was received by certified mail. Though the contract called for it there is no valid need for certified mail other than to elongate a membership. They acknowledged my resignation on two occassions.

Account_Number: XXXXXXXXX

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

In good faith, I made an offer to pay the charge due on 2/28 sans any late fees or up charges for not having my credit card charged. I am still willing to do this but I also want an assurance that there will be no reporting to a credit agency given the dispute at hand.

I have looked into [redacted]'s complaint and it appears that when [redacted] signed up in 2007, all cancellations were done via certified mail so ABC Financial, the 3rd party billing company, were just abiding by the terms of the agreement. Because they did in fact, receive [redacted]'s email on 2/19, he was only responsible for the last February payment, so I have refunded his March payment. He was already canceled by the billing company. He should see the refund in the next 3 business days.

Review: $172 debt with [redacted] via Edge Fitness in [redacted]. I was never informed that I had a debt being sent to an Agency. In 2012 I lived in [redacted] and was a member of Edge Fitness from probably June to August. In September, I landed a job in my hometown of [redacted] so I needed to cancel my membership. After speaking with an Edge Fitness Rep and giving them the information needed to cancel, I hoped that all was well. So now almost three years later, I checked my credit report and see that I have a debt with [redacted] for $172. Now I never received a call from Edge Fitness or this Agency stating that I even had a debt or it was being sent to the collection agency.Desired Settlement: I would like for the debt to be waived from [redacted] and erased from my Credit Report as soon as possible.

Review: Below is a copy of the email I sent to resolve my issue with Edge Fitnes through their Customer Care at [redacted]: (images of credit card transactions & telephone record from July 25, 2015 did not upload)

Attn CustomerCare[redacted],

On July 25, 2015, I called the Edge Fitness in Norwalk, CT (tel. no. [redacted]) and discussed my son’s membership with a club manager. (Member name [redacted], Member account [redacted])

Since my son had not been using his membership due to his being away at school, I asked for the club to stop his membership and discontinue charging the credit card on file. They said that he was enrolled for a 1-year contract and they would have to finish off the year. I was not satisfied with that response but had no recourse. I specifically told the club manager at that time not to renew his membership once the 1-year contract ended in August.

I had assumed this was done but I just noticed my card has been charge a renewal fee in September along with the monthly fees from September through November (and presumably I will be charged for December). My son has not used the membership even once since before July. He never received any notice in the mail advising him there would be a renewal (especially since I had asked for NO renewal).

I called again today to get this resolved and was referred to CustomerCare[redacted].

Please cancel his membership, stop charging the card on file, and refund the unwanted renewal fees & monthly charges. The total refund should be $122.27 as of today’s date.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

###-###-####

December 5, 2015Desired Settlement: Reimburse my credit card for the total amount of undesired charges beginning in September 2015 thru the present date. Also ensure that this month is not charged to my card. I was charge monthly charges of $26.58 each for the months of September, October, & November & an aditional club fee (renewal?) of $42.53 in September/October.

The toatl of these unwanted charges is $122.27. If they charge me for December, the total will be $148.85.

Review: I have been a member of this gym since 2009. In 2009 I signed the initial contract and have not signed a contract since. I have attempted to terminate my membership and was told I do not qualify for early termination. I was informed that I cannot terminate my membership and my payments will continue until 2017.Desired Settlement: I would like to be able to terminate my gym membership. If I owe any money upon the termination, I will pay those fees.

Business

Response:

It appears that Joanna has signed up for a 2 year membership in our [redacted] location on 2/24/15. The contract is signed on all parts so she would not qualify for early termination- unless, medical documentation is provided or she moves farther than 15 miles away from any of our locations. We do not have cancellation fees to stop the contract early, she would have to pay off the remainder of the contract if she would like to have it cancel immediately. I would be happy to provide you with a copy of your agreement if needed.

Consumer

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: the contract that they are referring to was never signed by me. There was a conversation that took place over the phone that day because I was providing them with an updated credit card as my previous one had expired. As a result I owed a back balance. I was never told that this would indicate a 24 month additional membership and never signed a new contract.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

We have cancelled the membership with nothing further due.

Review: I was a member of Fitness Edge in Riverside, CT. When I found out I was pregnant in early 2012 I called to cancel my membership. I was a high risk pregnancy and my doctor told me that I was not allowed heavy exercise. When I called they suggested they would put my membership on hold instead of canceling. I agreed. I had a csection in late October but was not ready to go back to working out because of the demands of having 2 young kids. In January and February I began being charged again for membership. I called the club and spoke to [redacted]. She said she would credit me the 2 months and in order to again save my membership she would put it on hold again. The credit was NEVER processed. I disputed the charges with my bank. My bank then contacted FE to get more info. FE sent them my contract and so the bank could not continue with the dispute and recharged my account for the 2 months. I called again Fitness Edge and spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] This was a Wednesday. They told me that [redacted] will write me a letter for my bank so I can again get a credit for these charges. I never received the letter. I called that Friday. I spoke to Sean who told me that [redacted] was in on Sunday and to call her. I was not happy. Why do I need to follow up constantly with them? Where is the customer service? I called the corporate office and spoke to [redacted]. She said she would call me that same day or Monday. Its Monday and no call by 8pm. I called [redacted] myself who had no idea what I was talking about. NOW Im still paying for 2 months of gym that I never used and was supposed to be credited for because apparently the member of the Fitness Edge staff AND corporate office do not communicate. On a separate note they sent me to COLLECTIONS in April for over $300. Not sure why??? I am so disappointed in the lack of customer service, accounting, and communication with this company. I need help!

Review: In March of 2014 I signed up for personal training at The Edge Fitness club in Meriden. On March 22 2014 I emailed [redacted], stating that I would plan on canceling the personal training sessions after my two months were paid for. I signed a contract saying I would pay for two months. On May 22, 2014, my bank account was charged approximately $207.57 for the training sessions. First, this was more than I had paid originally. I paid $166. Second, I told [redacted] I would no longer need the training. I immediately reported this to my bank. I spoke with [redacted] at the Edge, and he told me he and the manager would call me back. They never did. My bank did not approve the charge so I no longer have a negative balance, but I am now afraid to put money in my account incase they try to pull the money again. I am dissapointed in their customer service. I work in sales. I would never say to a customer "I am not a robot, I am consumer outside of work". I thought that was inappropriate. I also would call my customers back. I never recevied a call. I also need to go out of my way to put money in my other checking account because I cannot affod to have these mistakes happen because the Edge simply does not care to help me. I also told [redacted] that I may need knee surgey so I have not been to the gym to use my normal membership, nevermind personal training.Desired Settlement: I want confirmation that the Edge will not try to pull any money from my account. I only authorize they may pull my monthly membership of $21.26 on the 30th of every month.

Business

Response:

I am confirming that the Edge Fitness Clubs of Meriden will not try to pull any further money for Personal Training dues from [redacted] account. Upon [redacted] request, I also confirm that the Edge Fitness Clubs of Meriden will only draft the monthly membership of $21.26 on the 30th of every month.

Review: In January of 2013, I electronically signed a 12 Month contract with an employee of Edge Fitness and made it clear that I DID NOT want an Annual Renewal. I clearly specified that I wanted to sign up for a ONE YEAR agreement. Now that I've reached my end of my contract, I've made the attempt to cancel my membership but they are reporting to me that I have a two year agreement. I've contacted customer service and they continue to forward me to representatives that Do Not claim to be able to assist me with this issue. I need this to be resolved before the contract renews.Desired Settlement: I would like my membership canceled without fee charges as I was verbally guaranteed would be possible.

Business

Response:

There is no employee of The Edge that would verbally guarentee that we would break a contract that the member themselves sign off on. She signed & agreed to the membership conditions.

With that being said, we will still honor the cancellation.

Review: I signed up for the Edge Fitness membership believing that the membership was a monthly bill, cancel anytime program. The person who signed me up for the membership told me as such. Now when I attempt to cancel the Representative is telling me I signed a binding contract for two years. I was not given my membership papers at the time of enrollment, nor was I told by any representatives that I could not cancel at any point during my membership. I feel deceived and now I am being told I have to pay for a service that I am not using for the next 12 months.Desired Settlement: I do not want to be billed the monthly fee for the gym membership any longer.

Business

Response:

[redacted] signed up for a 24 month agreement. We have his signatures in all areas. The membership is not conducive upon usage. We also show that [redacted] is past due on his July and August dues. The Edge would cancel within the terms of the agreement if there was a move or a medical reason. Even though The Edge is not at fault here and it is a matter of [redacted] not using the club, we will cancel the membership to maintain good customer relations.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me - as long as the Edge cancels this membership. Also - I stand by my complaint that the Edge does not promote a compliant point of sale environment - I had no idea I was committing to a two year agreement.

Sincerely,

Review: I was a member at this fitness club. I cancelled the gym memebership due to moving out of the state of Ct to **. I signed a contract for membership and for a personal trainer. Upon signing this contract it did not specify I need to cancel the membership contract and the personal trainer contract separately. When I cancelled the gym membership the personal trainer contract was not cancelled. They then charge my account $85.00 for the annual upkeep for the gym and personal trainer. Again the contract does not specify I need to cancel the personal trainer separately from the gym membership. The gym provided the personal trainer under their business name. If I cancel the membership I can not use the services or equipment under the gyms name including the personal trainer..

Business

Response:

The membership for [redacted] was cancelled as she had specified. Training clients are able to continue training whether or not they have a valid membership. Per our personal training contracts, 30 days written notice is required to cancel personal training which was never given to us. The membership to our facility gives guests access to our machinery and facility while not working with a trainer. We do have some members that cancel their gym membership but continue to work with a personal trainer in our facility. When [redacted] cancelled her membership contract, cancellation of her personal training was not brought to our attention. The $85.08 charged to her account was the monthly $21.27 that covers our Edge Strong classes with personal training which was 4 months past due. Her training contract has been cancelled going forward but the previous balance was still owed on her account.

Review: Blast Fitness in Stratford went out of busniness this is the health club I signed up for my grandson No where in the contract do I see where ABC financial for EDGE fitness had the right to automaticly transfer a membership to EDGE without our consent and bill for a health club that was not close to where the blast fitness was located Since Jan I have been billed for a health club we never used or sign up for

I will need your grandson's name so we can help you as I do not have the agreement number that you referenced.

Review: An email was sent on my behalf stating I want my membership cancelled. No response. Contact [redacted] and no appropriate resolutions given.

On July 19th, 2013 I sent an email to the Fitness Edge Clubs email: [redacted].com that is listed on their website as well as where I had originally signed up asking "I had originally signed up at this location. I would like to cancel my membership, but I'd also like a copy of my membership agreement that I had signed. Is that something I need to come in and obtain? As well as cancel?" Prior to that date I called and stated that I had wanted to cancel and they directed me saying they needed it in writing. That is when I sent the email I just listed. Having heard nothing since, last week August 23, 2013 I emailed the [redacted].com stating that I want my account cancelled because I have tried several different methods to cancel and that I was thoroughly disappointed in the service provided at the [redacted] and [redacted] Fitness Edge Clubs. Especially when signing up; terms and conditions were never read in detail. Money was their main concern. I have been going back and forth since August 23rd, 2013 with different people at [redacted] Services, Inc. They claim because I never heard back from ANY of my emails that I still have to pay. What kind of a business is this?! Do they not have any regard for customer inquiries, have any quality standards for their business practices, or care about their customers? Why say that you need my cancellation in writing, I email and then hear nothing back. Why even list an email for customer inquiries if you don't reply back or acknowledge that you've received it. Or do they just choose not to reply back to emails that THEIR CUSTOMERS send because they have the word "cancel" in them and they'd like to still obtain money from them any way possible. It's no wonder they have an F and most of the complaints are from Billing and Collection Issues. It appears as well that I am not the only one who never receives a response from the club when emailing them.

Furthermore, if you look at my check-in history, I haven't gone to the Fitness Edge Club since before May!

To be quite honest, I am tired of no resolution with this situation and the go around with everyone I speak to. I may be contacting the Attorney General.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a refund of the money taken out of my account since July. I did everything asked of me with providing my cancellation request in writing and sent to the club where I had signed up. It is not my issue that they choose not to response to a customer inquiry/request.

The charges would be July, August and September (pending says [redacted]).

Review: I signed up and then went to cancel a three weeks later and they told me I could not do it . They said I pasted my date. They kept billing even after I closed my acct, then they sent it to a billing agency, and the guy called me a and his name was tom and he was nasty and mean. I told him I got laid off and he said the did not care. They wanted the 900.00 in full. Amonth ago they started calling threatening they were going t o court I said I still didnot have money . So paying 66.00 and contraact is up.I will say they arethe rottest gym I have ever dealt. They have no feeling when you can not afford to pay becuase no job. I have never dealt with a gym like this . Iwill never recommend them to anyone . I hope you can help. Thank you [redacted].

Review: I signed up for training several months back, and signed a contract for 1x/week personal training sessions with a 1:1 trainer. I was told I would be charged for however many Mondays were in each billing cycle, since that's the day of the week I signed up to train on. Not only was I told misinformation about an extra $20 fee for group classes, but I was overcharged and underserved. I was told signing up that the additional $20 per month for group classes was optional and I would not be charged if I didn't want to take those classes. I was not charged the $20 my first month, but was slapped with that fee each additional time. Next, I would go to the gym to meet with my personal trainer and would be told - at the door, that he was not there. No calls were made to my phone to cancel training sessions, I would go to the gym on my scheduled nights, and he would simply not show up. Eventually, they just gave me another trainer to work with for the nights that my original trainer was not there. Next, my trainer was often late (most recently 5 minutes late on 1/4/2016) which is about 17% of my session time (30 minutes). I also never received the nutritional coaching program that was paid for in my personal training. Additionally, they charged me for 6 Mondays in a billing cycle - one of which was double dipped into the last month that I already paid for. After figuring this out with the gym manager, I was told I would get a refund. I had to call many people for this to happen, and have been told a minimum of 3 times that a check has been sent out. I have not received a check. It was supposedly mailed before the Christmas holidays. It is January 13th today.Desired Settlement: A full refund of $249.08. My contract was not honored and I was lied to about a refund.

Business

Response:

This member signed up for training on October 12th 2015. After her initial session, her personal trainer was obligated to miss work due to being hospitalized with an illness. This member, (along with all of the trainers other clients) was contacted and given the option to train with another trainer in the meantime.

Review: My sister signs up for a gym membership. Upon her agreement she shared her concern that she would be leaving the country in less than a year so she didn't want to have troubles to cancel the agreement. The representative ensured her that as long as she provides a cope of one-way ticket; she won't have any problem cancelling the membership. So she did sign up for a membership and the only document needed was a driver's license and credit card. Few months later she decided she is leaving the country so she bought a one way ticket and call the company to ask them where she should send the ticket since she would be leaving in less that a week (September 9th) and then the hustle started. A customer care representative told her that besides a copy of the ticket, she would also need to submit a cope of green card, passport or visa. First and foremost she wasn't told that when she signed up for the gym. Second she doesn't have any of the paperwork they requested, and third even if she did have them, this is too personal information to be shared with a gym company. So if a driver license is sufficient to sing up for it then the same document should be sufficient to cancel services. So now it has been more than a month and I have been trying to work with them and resolve the problem. I am her sister and I have a power of attorney to act on her behalf, as she is no longer in the country. I contacted customer care again and I spoke to a supervisor, after I explained my disappointment and explained the whole situation, she said that if we provide a mutual rent agreement between my sister and the person she is staying with at the moment and both of their signatures, then this will be enough to cancel the membership as of October. After I contacted my sister and she did what she was told to, she received an email stating again that she needs a copy of visa or green card, etc. So the person I spoke to was supposed to include her phone number and email address in case we have problem, however she never sent her contact info. So now we have been charged for a membership for a person that has left the country more than a month ago and they do not like to cancel the agreement. I feel that me were misled at the beginning and now we are just being charged unreasonable.

I work hard for my money just like we all do I think that is an absolute robbery. Please help me resolve the issue with this merchant, as it seems like they have no business ethic whatsoever.

Review: My wife and I signed up for the Fitness Edge in Shelton, Ct in May. Since then we had to freeze our accounts due to various issues. During which the accounts were frozen I was still receiving ridiculous amounts of charges to my card, my wife spoke to the billing manager and were able to refund the account. While my accounts were frozen we asked the card to be removed from the account. They didn't remove the card. In November, the company charged us three different fees with out MY notification. Currently, I am unable to work due to health reasons, and my wife is barely working due to pregnancy. The fitness Edge charged my card which wasn't authorized. After speaking to The Fitness Edge, they refused to refund the unauthorized charges.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the $19.95, and two $21.26 payments to be refunded. The total refund would be a total of $62.47.

Response:

Regarding these 2 accounts The Edge Fitness Clubs has gone over and beyond to accommodate these customers. We initially made an exception for this customer by freezing the accounts for 3 months because the customer was having financial difficulties. We made it clear to the customer that we can only freeze the account 3 months and that we were making an exception for them because the contract was still in term for both accounts. When the customers accounts came off of freeze which they forgot about we again went over and beyond by cancelling their contracts due to financial hardship. We let both customers out of more than $400 worth of future contracted payments. At some point the customer has to take some responsibility for what they committed to and paying $60 to get out of $400 worth of contracted payments is more than fair. If there is any other questions I can answer please do not hesitate to call [redacted]. [redacted] General Manager

Review: I was talked into purchasing additional training sessions after a session with one of the trainers. It was very strongly told to me that the sessions auto-renew on the fourth session but was NEVER explained to me that these sessions were non-refundable.At present, I can ill afford to lose close to $200 for sessions that I cannot use as the location is not convenient to my residence or work. I am forced to look for new housing as my roommate is terminally ill and I am unable to afford the apartment on my own. In addition, he is selling his car, which I have been using and I will be going back to taking the city bus. This gym is located approximately an hour away from where I will likely be living and working as it requires my taking two buses (sometimes with a significant amount of time waiting to transfer).I hope that you can help with this issue. I really need to have the monies spent for these sessions refunded to me. They have offered to hold them for me which is pointless since I have cancelled my membership and will not be able to use them.Thank you for your assistance.[redacted] Catherine [redacted]

We have the signed copy of [redacted]'s training agreement and her signed copy of the credit card recript. On the receipt, it states all sales final. We would be happy to transfer the monies towards membership or another service within the club.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/04/02) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

I am not interested in transferring the monies paid for the training sessions into membership. It is no longer convenient for me to access this club. In addition, since they did not cancel my membership as promised they have charged me for another month of dues. They did not provide time for me to read the agreement and did not mention the "Final Sale" restriction. ALL [redacted]n mentioned repeatedly was that the session auto-renewed after the 4th session was used. I had inquired about the cancellation of future sessions on March 4, 2013 via e-mail but never received a response. I told him then that I was unable to afford the sessions. It would take me more than an hour to reach the gym and would mean taking two city buses, this is not practical. The Fitness Edge is a rip-off. I will not remove my complaint.

Consumer Response /* (-5, 9, 2013/04/08) */

[redacted]n [redacted] had told me that they do not make their members jump through hoops to cancel their membership. I asked that it be cancelled in mid-March, he finally got back to me on 3/21/13 and said he was cancelling that day. On 3/26/13 they charged me April dues. To date they have refused to refund this money.

Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2013/04/09) */

To keep good customer relations, the club has refunded the training amount. We can not refund her last dues payment as all cancellations require 30 days notice, which she is responsible for that last payment.

Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2013/04/11) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I had asked their representative, [redacted]n [redacted], what I needed to do to cancel. He NEVER said that I had to provide 30 days notice, not even when he said that he would hold my training sessions for me. Very diceptive. Also, was told that they are refunding $149 for the "unused" session, I never used any of the five that were purchased in early March and, in fact, had one left from the original pkg purchased in December 2012, which I am not contesting.

Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2013/04/15) */

We have honored [redacted]s original request and refunded her personal training monies. All cancellation procedures are also written on her original contract which walks her through the cancellation procedures. Her membership has been cancelled, but no refund will be issued for membership as well.
