Mr***, upon receipt of your complaint I asked my cash department to review your account and advise why funds were reversedThey advised that the previous servicer of your loan,
*** loan servicing advised that a payment that you had been posted twice in error and they needed the funds to be returned to themI reach out to *** and they provided the explanation below
history reflects two payment of $were applied effective 6/08/One payment was applied to the 6/payment with the remaining $applied as a principal paymentOn 7/07/16, we received a payment of $Combined with the second 6/08/payment we had $1,666.00, of which $was applied to complete the 7/paymentThe remaining $1,was applied as a principal paymentIn October a reversal was completed to remove the duplicative 6/08/payment, but the transaction history was not reconciled to reflect the reversalIf reconciled, at the time of the servicing transfer, the UPB should have been $96,($95,+ $836.00)We have reversed from principal and applied that as the 3/payment effective 3/1/The loan is now due for the 4/1/paymentI am waiving all late charges and also making certain that any negative credit reporting is removedSincerely

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me if the mortgage company would kindly provide me with a letter stating that the December and January payments were received on time and the loan is in good standing as it always has beenI would appreciate this documentation since I have received four or five letters from Freedom Mortgage stating the contraryWe always make our payments on time and take pride in our high credit score in doing soI know that sometimes one department is not aware of what the other department has done and this would help clarify things going forward

email that to me at *** As to the legality of the application of the payment to the next due date, that is entirely legalIf a borrower sends in funds equal to a payment it will post as a paymentThere has to be some logic on the system to apply funds and without instructions to the contrary funds equally a payment will be applied as a paymentFunds less than the amount of a payment will be applied to principalMore often that not customers sending in funds two full payments want the funds to be applied as paymentsPlease let me know if I can be of any further assistanceSincerely
