Better Business...

Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I have received an email copy of my credit card receipt from this company and thank you for helping me get my complaint resolved.
Regards,

We apologize the the customer was anything less that fully satisfied with our service. In the interest of customer satisfaction we agreed to a $150 reimbursement in resolution of the complaint. Our company utilizes standard retail pricing for all parts and services and strives to provide the highest...

quality parts and service in the industry. We appreciate this feedback being brought to our attention to allow us to improve and move forward to ensure every customer is fully satisfied with their service experience.

We apologize for the difficulty the customer has experienced in...

receiving the invoice. There was a minor typo made in her email in our files. We have corrected it and emailed a PDF copy of the invoice to the consumer and also placed a hard copy in the mail to her address.
Thank you

Attached is the customer's invoice, please see the notes documenting that we agreed to offer a 6 month labor warranty to the customer. The customer has since called back demanding that we give him a lifetime warranty on labor, this is not something that was ever discussed, offered, or agreed to by any representative of our company because it simply is not possible. We warranty and guarantee the parts but a cost does apply for the labor to be completed by our certified technician should a warranty concern occur. There is a standard $89 service call outside of the labor warranty of 6 months in this case, and the labor to replace both springs if necessary would not exceed $200 in a worst case scenario. This is all agreed to and detailed on the contract signed by the customer. With this said, we will always make an exception to take care of our customer's should an issue occur that is due to improper installation. With the reimbursement and agreement to extend a special 6 month service warranty to the customer we have gone above and beyond to do everything in our power to completely satisfy the customer.

To confirm, this company's license number is 1005791. I contacted Garage Door Service & Repair to schedule a $39.95 Lube and Tune up special as advertised in Valpak. They came out and checked the door and told me it would cost $279 to get it working better, I'd noted that it was jerking when I used the opener. I told the technician that I needed to discuss the cost with my husband and would forgo the Lube and Tune up at this time since the technician said it would not solve the problem. I thanked the technician and they left. About 5 minutes later the technician showed up at my front door demanding an 89$ service call fee. He told me I was told over the phone that I would have to pay that. I was not told that and I'm sure the recorded call will prove that. I thanked the technician and said I needed to go. I closed the door and he continued to pound on it. I opened the door again and this time the technician put someone else on speaker phone who threatened me with calling the police. I felt very intimidated and relented to paying for the service and allowed them to perform the lube and tune, which consisted of them spraying lubricant on the hinges and touching various parts of the door which took about 5 minutes. I am considering cancelling my check but want to find out what my rights are. I will be happy to provide you with any further information. I would like to get a full refund from this company and warn others about them. Thank you!

Case# [redacted]
margin-bottom: 5pt;">Attached is the invoice please let me know if 2 garage door springs for $200 and tax is unreasonable. [redacted] is a kid playing games. He has called this office and has done nothing but harass this office by cursing out my customer service team when they were trying to help understand the complaint. Long story short this client stopped payment on their check and refuse help and resolve. This case has been turned over to an outside collection agency.
Thank you

I have NEVER done business or heard of the company of this invoice. All this company is is a large scam/ fraud and they are unhappy that we called the police on their fraudulent work. Until I receive a legitimate invoice with the correct company (Garage Door Servicies & Repair, Inc.) and the correct date of service, then the invoice will be paid. I had to stop payment on my check since [redacted] and other "client service" people stated the check was potentially lost. This caused me to change accounts and a crazy inconvience from a fraudlant company. As far as the collection agency goes, they sent me a letter stating they have closed the account in their office since it was a disputed debt and the original creditor cannot provide proper documentation. To simply put it, if "Garage Door Services & Repair, INC." for the correct amount with the date of service being (08/17/15 ONLY). This company is CrAZY and NOT a legitamate company. A compliant was filed with the Ohio Attorney Generals office against GDS and the collection company for going attempting to collect a false debt. This company has not done anything but take hours upon hours of my time. We are done here. Any further communication from "GDS" is considered harassment since I hired Garage Door Services & Repair, INC. NOT "Garage door service" or Fox Overhead Door! Stop falsifying invoices! I will purse legal action as required.

Response:
We...

apologize for the apparent miscommunication about the pricing with our technician. We do strive to provide the best parts and service in the industry, have standard retail pricing, and make all costs and repair options completely clear and make an agreement before starting any repairs. For customer satisfaction, we were able to reach out to the customer and agree to a refund of $269.02 on 4/27/2016 which has been credited back to his card.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The company contacted me and asked if they could pick up the opener (motor) along with the 1 remote and sensor left over AFTER I had to install my own door. They did picked it up and removed that amount from my balance. The amount they "offered" to reduce is based on the opener which I gave back to them so it wasn't really an amount they took off, they had to because I gave back the opener (motor).  By the way they scheduled a Friday 7pm pickup for the motor and guess what happened. They came by Thursday unannounced. What a joke. Not only do they say they are in Colorado the office they have is not an office at all. They have number in San Diego listed on one website and another in Texas. Shady.  Not even based in Denver as a company.
They say my balance is $816.92???  Here is what I have proposed as a resolution. I make $35 per hour and I work 7 days a week.  I work from 7am - 7pm so anytime they said they needed to come by I had to take off. Monday they scheduled 5pm inspection before door install was done. 5-7pm = 2 hours / Friday they scheduled 3pm install time, tech didn't come till 7:30pm, didn't leave till 11:30pm but let’s just talk about money lost 3-7pm = 4 hours (and garage still wasn't fixed / Tech came back Saturday at 2pm and guess what, still not fixed 2-7pm = 5 hours / Rescheduled for Sunday fix at 3pm, I called their dispatch at 3:30pm and GUESS WHAT. I wasn't on the schedule 3-7pm = 4 hours. I was no longer going to allow them to hold me hostage so I went and bought a garage door on Sunday and installed it MYSELF. Cost of new opener (motor) = $400.00. Now let’s add up all the lost wages and money spent by me because of the incompetence of this company. 15 hours of work lost $35 per hour = $525 dollars and $400 garage door motor = $925.00   Wow they owe me money! This amount does not include my frustration, the labor to take their crap down and installing my own motor and rail, etc. I have advised this company to clear my balance and IF they need to talk to someone I offered my attorneys name and number. We will be HAPPY to take this to court if they bring it on!  I was kind enough to allow my credit card company let them keep the $200 deposit and gave them their crap motor back. I am done. If they pursue legal action we will counter for way more money. .  Her is a safe link to download video of how they left my garage with commentary (select the option todownload using your browser): https://mega.nz/#!MockGShC!XTk0J3PK-GgSAf_u74EiDvlav7W2gNDrK7tsJAOchj...

When the customer called to set the appointment he was advised that there would be a $69 service call fee to cover the cost of the technician's visit and safety inspection and diagnostic. Since the repairs were declined this cost would apply to the visit, however in the interest of customer...

satisfaction due to the concern presented we will be glad to refund the charge to the customer's credit card.
Although the safety eyes may have been the immediate issue, our technician determined that the door was not balanced and that new springs were needed. We strive to employ the best technician's in the industry, and the matter of a misdiagnosis is something we will take high priority in addressing with our technician. I would appreciate a call back from the customer to see if the other company did inspect the springs and find no issues so this matter can be addressed.

Very simply the client spoke to the client service about sending a technician to come back and he demanded that day. We explained that we cannot set that day but we will be happy to accommodate the next day or anytime after and the client refused. I called today on both numbers we have for the...

client so that we can again schedule something and accommodate this client. The first number has a continuous busy signal and the 2nd# has a voice mail that is full. I also emailed so we can settle the matter. Thank you

We would like to apologize again for the inconvenience faced by the customer. We have addressed the scheduling and communication issues internally with the technician who was responsible. There was simply a minor wiring issue with the opener that could have easily been remedied, however the customer made the choice to uninstall and replace it, which we can not be held fully responsible for. Even with this being said, we agreed to collect the unit and refund the amount charged in full including the labor for our technician's original installation of the unit. We also reached out and offered an additional $100 reduction on the balance due for the garage door for all of the inconvenience faced. The customer refuses to work with us and has explicitly refused to make payment for the garage door and the services rendered.

A subsequent complaint is based upon their practices to charge exorbitant labor rates for repairs.  They provided a lifetime warranty on the garage door springs, but only a 30 day warranty on the labor.  To replace the springs (if and when they fail) it will cost $398 to replace them based upon their labor rates.  I told them this is unacceptable.  I want a lifetime warranty on the labor, too.  Furthermore, there was absolutely NO OFFER to extend the labor warranty in any way.  That is an outright lie.  I did receive a call about the labor warranty, but the clerk was very insistent that 30 days labor warranty was the norm and there was absolutely nothing to be done about it.

We would like to apologize for the delay in the refund check being issued due to a clerical mistake. The refund check was issued to the consumer on 5/13/16. We reached out to the consumer on 6/6/16 and verified that he did finally receive the $100 reimbursement.Thank you

I am an 73 year old disabled widow, I use a wheelchair.
I called this company and asked for someone to come out to fix my door. A man arrived and after checking out the door he said he could fix it. I was expecting him to say around $300 but he quoted me a price of $875. I thought this very high but he pointed out since my garage door could not be matched, I would have to buy two doors. I have insulated doors and this one was my double door. I asked him how much two new doors would cost and he quoted such high prices I thought n
$875 didn't sound so bad. It was hard for me to come up with this money but my door was dangerous.
After he fixed the door, I went out to see what he had done, he had reinforced the door with a metal bar.
I said I was glad it was fixed and I asked if the door was safe to use. He then said I could not use the remote and what was more, that I should avoid opening the door at all.
He then started to print up an invoice on his portable printer, he had me initial and sign, he said the amount was$1310.00. I asked him what happened to the $875, he said "oh that was for parts and service", so I still don't know how he could add on more money.
I called the company and I they were shocked that after everything, my door still doesn't open. They never offered to send someone out to check the door, I asked them to return my money, they said no but they would hold the
I m an 83 year old disabled woman, I feel I was taken advantage of.
I called this company and asked if someone could come out to fix my garage door.
This man came and inspected the door and said it would cost $875. I was very shocked, I thought it would be around $300. They bar hold the door together was broken. After he was finished he showed me what he done, it was not pretty but he said it was safe. He then gave me the news that it was going to be
$1300. I very nearly fainted, I was so shocked. I asked him what happened to the $875 he said oh that was for parts and service.
He never put in a garage door opener, he just installed this bar. So I said "so we're all set, we can use the door, that's when he surprised me again, he told me the door remote could not be used and that should not even open the door it is dangerous.
I not only need this remote to work, I need it for my wheelchair and car.
The only way I can get my money back is to give them another $1400 and they will install two new doors. I am disgusted with this company.
I have written to their head office and the local office and many phone calls and now they just put my calls through to voicemail.
