Review: automobile insurance

I started a insurance policy in November 2013, I am very unhappy with their service, I am going back to [redacted] insurance. I contacted geico on Monday march 10th to cancel my auto insurance policy to be effective on march the 14th. I get an email telling me I owe them $178.06. I don't owe geico nothing, I cancelled my services with them so there should be nothing owed. I no longer want nor need geico insurance. my policy number reads as follows, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want this amount removed, I owe them nothing. I am paid up to date with nothing owed. I want my policy cancelled with nothing owed to them.

Review: Geico is increasing my monthly payment by over 40%. They claim I have a family policy. I have been with them for 3 years, Never was there ever mention of a Family coverage nor did I accept or signed for such coverage. They are claiming that because my son is 21 and live in my house and just got a drivers licence, my so called family policy monthly payment goes up. My son does not drive my car at all.

I call another Insurance company and I've been told they can not do this.

I know every call is recorded that will proof that never has Gaico discussed this family policy they are talking about and making me pay for. Geico Can not be allowed to make changes on policy as they please. As I am strongly considering going with another company. Highly unsatisfied with their actions.Desired Settlement: I request that my policy coverage and payments remains as it was originally. As I am strongly considering going with another company.

Review: Recently my car was totaled from an accident and the estimate given by the insurance company (GEICO) wasn’t up to my expectations.

When I asked them for additional details as how they derived the value of my car, was told it was handled by a 3rd party company(CCC). When I asked for more details, they shared me a detailed report. Apparently this company (CCC) collects data of similar cars sold recently (10 in my case) in the same locality, plugged-in my car’s options/features against them and gets an average. This average was used as my car’s base price. While I was going thru the numbers, found out the average wasn’t computed properly. (computational error)

When I brought this up with the insurance company and when I pinpointed where the problem was, they accepted the issue and agreed to investigate and pay me the difference later.

After few days, the insurance company came back and said, they have fixed the error and gave me a new report. In that, they have used a different set of comps (15 this time) and choose many vehicles which were sold for less. I believe they have artificially brought the numbers down instead of going with their prior comp numbers and paying me fairly.

Potentially I could see 2 issues.

1. Altering the comps and not being fair or keeping up what they had promised

2. I doubt their whole process of valuation now and I think it is designed to get the low valuation and not a fair valuation.Desired Settlement: Address my concern and be a reputable firm

Dear [redacted],

Review: Recently GEICO canceled my auto insurance for non-payment. I did not receive a notification that it was due. Nonetheless, when I called to make a payment, they doubled the premiums for no apparent reason to reinstate my insurance. I have had no accidents or moving violations in 10 years or more.Desired Settlement: Reinstate my insurance with same price premiums as last month.

Dear [redacted]:

Thank you for your recent inquiry dated August 21, 2014. I welcome the opportunity to discuss [redacted]’s concern over the cancellation of his automobile insurance policy.

[redacted]’s July 18, 2014 renewal paperwork was mailed to his address on July 3, 2014. The installment bill was mailed on July 7, 2014 for an installment due on the renewal date. Please see the attached document. A notice of cancellation was mailed July 21, 2014 which allowed until August 1, 2014 to make the payment. Please see the attached document. Since the renewal payment was not received, the policy cancelled effective the renewal date.

When evaluating the policy to re-start the coverage, GEICO will consider that the vehicle has been in a lapse of insurance from July 18, 2014 to the present date. Also considered is the November 12, 2013 accident involving [redacted].

Proper notification was provided to [redacted] prior to the cancellation of the policy.

I hope this information will assist you in resolving this matter. If additional information is required, please contact Terry B[redacted] at ###-###-#### or via email at [redacted].

Sincerely,

John *. L[redacted]

Dear **. [redacted]:

This will acknowledge receipt of your request regarding the above named insured’s private passenger automobile policy. I have carefully reviewed the matter and my findings are as follows:

In **. [redacted]’s correspondence to your organization he alleges that GEICO increased his premium based upon a loss which he describes as his car going over an object “(probably a stone”) during a snow storm. He has requested that GEICO tailor the loss so that it does not impact his premium.

GEICO’s records show that **. [redacted] disclosed his loss to the GEICO claims department as running over the curb that was not visible as he was moving over to avoid another vehicle. This loss would be considered surchargeable based upon the description, but is not being surcharged at this time. The increase in question was due to a change in rated location from Rhode Island to Massachusetts. **. [redacted] advised of a different rated location than what he was being rated for when he filed the claim in question.

It is GEICO’s position that all proper procedures were followed in handling of the policy in question. If you have any questions, or if GEICO can be of any further service in this matter, please contact me at ###-###-####.

Review: This Company Withdrew an amount of $ 419 Dollars and some change. I have printed off a Copy of the Account History and charges to be removed.

Geico Insurance Company Withdrew an amount of $ 419 and some change. I have printed off a Copy of the Account History and charges to be removed. The amount to be removed was 58.69 they didn't inform me of any other charges to withdrawn. The Account History shows no account of a 419 dollars I also did not receive notification of this. The account holder did not consent to a larger withdraw then 58.69, and due to this company trying to remove the extra fund they have put her account into an Over Draft state of 137.50 Plus a 5 dollar a day fee.Desired Settlement: We request that the funds are returned and that the account is returned to the previous amount that was there which was in the amount of $68.00 and if the policy with the company is retained then return the amount to $9.31 to cover the initial withdraw from this account

Review: My husband and I had a vehicle insurance policy our two vehicles. Our account was set up with Geico to withdraw 107.00 from our checking account the each month for our policy. In September 2013 we discovered that our bank account was compromised and our debit card information was stolen so my husband and I cancelled the cards and received new cards. In September 2013 my husband called Geico and had them remove the old debit card and gave them the new card to continue automatic withdraw each month and stated that it was not a onetime change that this was not the card we wanted on file and explained what happened with the old card. Geico successfully removed funds with the new card on file in October 2013 and November 2013. In December 2013, we received a letter from Geico as usual that the funds would be automatically withdrawn from our account December 12, 2013. We never checked our account to see if the funds were withdrawn unfortunately, we only checked our account balance making sure during the Holidays that funds were in positive due to recently having our bank account hacked. On January 7, 2014 I was driving my jeep that was covered with that Geico policy and as I merged onto the highway I hit black ice and wrecked the vehicle causing damage to the front bumper, tail light and the plastic guards that cover passenger side wheel wells. I called Geico immediately and they sent out a tow truck, they took my statement and then once I got the police report information I called that in to Geico as well. For a week we called Geico and, we were told that the claim was still being investigated. Finally after almost two weeks we called again and we were advised due to NSF charges in December, and non-payment, our policy had been cancelled effective December 27, 2013. We had a remaining balance around 62.00 for the policy coverage in December when they covered us from December 2, 2013 – December 27, 2013. My husband paid the balance and I went to our bank and printed off the bank statements from October, November, and December. There was more than enough money to cover the 107.00 monthly Geico fee every single day in December. There was never a NSF charge, and there also was no attempt of any billing from Geico shown on the bank statement. Geico never called, sent mail, or an email advising us of a billing error, nor did they contact us when the policy was cancelled allowing me to drive around ILLEGALLY with my 9 month old son without insurance. I have faxed a dispute to the Clai** Department of Geico on January 29th, 2014 to ###-###-#### and still there is no resolution and there has been zero contact from them as to if they received it or what part of the process my dispute is at. I called again today and spoke with a supervisor [redacted] in the clai** department at ###-###-#### who advised it will be yet another week for them to review and decide on the dispute I sent in regarding the denied claim. My vehicle has been sitting at the dealership that THEY towed it to on the date of the accident for 36 days now. I have been using public transportation or my son and I leave at 4:30 am with my husband who drops me off at my sister’s house so in order for me to have a ride from family or the bus to get to and from work since Geico will not give us a rental car. They have yet to make a decision, and they never one time told me even when I called to report the accident that I was not covered. I could have had a relative tow my vehicle and store it at their property to avoid tow and storage fees. I could have paid for the policy with Geico if they communicated the billing error by giving them the correct card that they correctly billed the previous two months automatically, or I could have got another insurance policy to avoid no coverage at the time of the accident.Desired Settlement: I would like Geico to have them pay anything after the deductible, plus the towing and storage fees for my jeep and a rental while my jeep gets fixed.

Review: I spent a great deal of time reviewing and approving a car insurance policy that would cover

all aspects of car insurance, including theft. I have paid for comprehensive coverage which

they stated "would cover the vehicle if it was stolen, fire damage or total loss" I am required

to have this coverage bc I have financing, The car was stolen and is a total loss and Geico

is claiming that they only have to cover the book value, at the time of recovery, including

recovery damage losses not the actual loan amount. I have discussed this at length with them

I do not understand why you pay thru the nose for comphrensive coverage if it isnt what they say it

is. I will still owe over $5000,00 on the vehicle that I dont own, they will own it and they will sell it

off for parts etc. Its not rightDesired Settlement: I would like them to cover the loss of the vehicle as they state in their comprehnsive policy

RE: Department File #: [redacted]

Complainant: [redacted] Our Claim #: [redacted] Our Insured: [redacted] Loss Date: October 25, 2013

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank-you for your inquiry dated November 3, 2013.

On October 25, 2013 **. [redacted] contacted GEICO to report that her vehicle had been stolen and that it had been recovered in the ocean. The claim is currently under investigation. GEICO has inspected the vehicle and relayed the value; however we have not made an offer to settle. GEICO advised **. [redacted] that under her Massachusetts Auto Policy we provide coverage for the actual cash value of her vehicle less her deductible as outlined below if it is a total loss.

PART 9 - COMPREHENSIVE

We will pay the cost to physically repair the auto or any of its parts up to the actual cash value of the auto at the time of loss and will not include compensation for any diminution of value claimed to result from the loss. The most we will pay will be either the actual cash value of the auto or the cost to physically repair the auto, whichever is less. The cost to physically repair the auto is limited to the prevailing competitive price, which is the price we can secure from a competent repair facility conveniently located to you. Unless you have purchased agreed amount coverage, actual cash value of the property will be determined at the time of the loss and may include an adjustment for depreciation/betterment and for the physical condition of the property.

As used in Optional Insurance when applied to an auto:

Actual cash value is the value of an auto based on a consideration of all the following factors:

(a) the retail book value fora motor vehicle of like kind and quality, but for the damage incurred;

(b) the price paid for the vehicle plus the value of prior improvements to the motor vehicle at the time of the accident, less appropriate depreciation;

(c) the decrease in value of the motor vehicle resulting from prior unrelated damage which is detected by the appraiser; and

(d) the actual cost of purchase of an available motor vehicle of like kind and quality but for the damage sustained.

We feel we are handling this matter within Massachusetts' guidelines.

If any additional information is needed, please contact [redacted], Claim Director at ###-###-####, extension: [redacted].

Review: A charge of $213.05 was made on my [redacted] on 5/2/2014 . I have not purchased any policies from Geico. Review: On Saturday May 3rd, I attempted to renew my auto registration online. I was not a former Geico customer, but I did attempt to get a quote and insurance through their website. At the end of a lengthy process, which did include providing my credit card details, I was informed that my transaction could not be completed online and that I would not be insured until I called a Geico representative at the 800 number provided. I chose not to make that phone call and instead found another carrier that could process my request online and ultimately got myself insured successfully. However, hours later, I received an email message from Geico saying that my policy was in place and that my credit card would be charged. I don't understand how that is even possible when I had zero interaction with a Geico representative and did not provide the details they claimed they required to finalize my request. I have contacted Geico many times, but they refuse to cancel my policy, insisting that my attempt to do so will result in a lot of extra paper work and other issues for me. So, in summary, their website does not work properly, they ignore their own rejection messages and perform unauthorized credit card transactions after the deal has already been killed by themselves, and then refuse to cancel a policy that should have never existed based on their own rejection message.Desired Settlement: Reverse the unauthorized charge to my credit card.

Cancel any bogus policy that may or may not exist under my name.

Remove me from all marketing and other harassing mailing lists and remove any of my personal information from their systems.

Review: While I understand and I am fully aware that when one receives a traffic ticket/infraction, said information is reported to my auto insurer (GEICO). What I find quite onerous and outrageous is, they seem to NOT care about actually LOOKING at what said ticket/infraction is and then, making a decision how much a policy holder's rates will go up. Roughly a year ago, I received what amounts to a extortion ticket from the [redacted] (I accidently made a left-hand turn, at approx. 7:30AM, in a residential area that lobbied the city to ban such turns during the hours of 7AM and 9AM simply because residents didn't want local motorist to use their streets during the morning hours). There was zero danger of ANY type of collision or other type of accident -- yet the [redacted] still issued the ticket instead of a simply warning (as anyone who pays attention to the news knows the City of ** is essentially bankrupt and this is nothing more than a way to generate revenue). Instead of GEICO doing the right thing for the consumer, and grasp that said ticket doesn't reflect or quantify the 'risk' I pose as a driver, they simply applied their 'formula' for a rate increase when a policy holder receives a traffic infraction. Granted, I have spoken to a supervisor and it's my understanding the ticket accessed against my driving record was formulated by GEICO as a 'half point', it's still galling that my monthly premium has increased by roughly $30. Again, I am no more or less a risk as a driver than I was before the ticket was issued. GEICO is doing nothing more than using their expensive Washington DC lobbyists (likely paid for by my policy payments) to help them engage in obvious price gouging.Desired Settlement: For the rate increase to be FAIRLY applied based on the type of MINOR traffic infraction I received.

Policy #: [redacted]

Dear **. [redacted]:

We received correspondence from the Revdex.com requesting assistance on your behalf. I am happy to provide you with the following response.

I would first like to thank you for your 12 years of loyalty to the GEICO family. We know you have many options when choosing an insurance company, so we truly value you as a policyholder.

Pursuant to our filed and approved rating plan, a surcharge is applied for each conviction of a moving traffic violation which occurs during the experience period. Consequently, a surcharge was applied to the policy for the 05/07/13 conviction for failing to obey a traffic device on 10/12/12. Due to the addition of this surcharge, you no longer qualify for the GEICO Safe Driver discount, so this discount was removed from your policy, as required by our filed and approved rating plan.

Unfortunately, we are unable to honor your request to make an exception regarding this surcharge and loss of discount, in fairness to all of our policyholders, we are unable to make exceptions to our filed and approved rating plan.

**. [redacted], I hope this is helpful in understanding the rating of your policy, if you have any additional questions, please call our analyst, [redacted], at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Review: I have been checking prices for auto insurance. GEICO has bombarded by e-mail and regular mail since I got the quote. They were $10.00 less than everyone elso so I began setting up a policy online. At the last minute, it said that they have to set up a draft for my credit card every month and I didn't want it so I tried to back it up but it had already been sent. When I looked at my credit card history, they took not only the premium amount but $123.61 I didn't authorize so I called their main office to complain and they said it was from a policy I had in 2012. I find this unethical because the website indicated that only the $54.50 premium would be deducted from my credit card. It is sneaky and unethical. I have already cancelled the policy but they refuse to refund the $123.61.Desired Settlement: I want that money back because I NEVER authorized it and while I was purchasing the policy it never indicated it would draft anything but the premium of $54.50.

Review: Without notice or authority to do so, GEICO added my 23 yr old son to my auto insurance policy as a covered driver. He does not live with me. I live alone. I loaned my auto to my son in Oct. 2012 (who I think was living with his brother in [redacted] FL- working at [redacted] in the Mall) which resulted in an accident. Though the accident was not his fault, the attending small town police did not get the names of the 3 witnesses that stopped to assist my son. (If he had gotten their names GEICO would have been aware that the driver of the semi involved tried to extort money from my son while he was being loaded into an ambulance with a very painful dislocated shoulder). I had absolutely no problem filing the claim and receiving compensation for my loss. GEICO however failed to fully follow up on the details of the accident and my son was "found to be at fault". I can accept that- as it was the Police Officer who did not correctly document the accident.

Now, without prior notice- totally out of the blue- GEICO raised my premium $153.86. Again, my son does not live with me. I loaned him my car (I can't even remember why now) I asked them if I had loaned my car to my dad and he had the accident would they have put him on my policy and they stated "yes". I purchased full coverage insurance for my car, 99.999% of the time I am the only driver. I am supposed to prove that my son does not live with me. How do you do that? I invited them to come to my house... right then and there and see for themselves. I even gave them my son's phone number, and as much as I could remember of his father's address, we've been divorced almost 10 yrs). (My son moved into his father's house after leaving [redacted] sometime around Thanksgiving last year) For them to write my policy as they see fit, charge my account a different amount than what I purchased should be against the law. They took it upon themselves to sell me insurance that I absolutely, positively do NOT NEED! I even told customer service that I would sign an affidavit stating that the only way I would allow my son to drive my car would be a dire emergency. That didn't fly with them either. They have refused to put my money back into my account. I am in the LPN to RN program at a local college. I sold and financed my land to finish putting myself thru school. I absolutely do not have the extra $1846.32 a year fitted into my frugal budget. I would appreciate any help you can give me in this matter. By the way- my premium was $102.30 a month before they gave themselves a raise... they debited my checking account 256.16.Desired Settlement: I want a written mailed apology and a prompt refund of the $153.86 extra that was taken out of my account. AND... I don't ever want unauthorized tampering of my policy to occur again. Aren't we supposed to trust our insurance company? Isn't that why they call it "insurance?"

November 25, 2013 , I contacted GEICO to get my car repaired and was informed of what my coverage was etc. Upon inquiring what my allowance was and expressing concern of exceeding my limit GEICO assured me that the Claims adjustor assigned to the case would make sure everything was done in a timely manner without my having to incur additional expenses. My car was in the body shop for over a month (11/25-2013 to 12/30/2013).

I received no communication from the insurance company about the progress of my car. I had to call GEICO expressing concerns about the duration of my car being in the body shop and that I didn't want to be charged extra for no fault of mine. I was assured that the insurance company would look into the matter. The claims adjustor assigned to my case informed me that this particular body shop was problematic and tended to keep cars longer in their shop than necessary. When I noticed that I had been charged $251.46 by [redacted] I called GEICO back and a representative and my claims adjustor basically asked me to take up the issue with the body shop and informed me that this was not their problem. The body shop informed me that insurance adjustor was the one who caused the delay by not turning in the paperwork on time. In essence the buck was ebing passed around. I filed a complaint with GEICo and have not heard anything back from them.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that my credit card be refunded with $251.46.

Review: I was a member of Geico Insurance for over 5 plus years. In December 21, 2012 I was involved in an accident at a ** Service Station on [redacted] Pkwy in [redacted], Georgia. I was contacted by a **. [redacted], a claim adjuster from Geico on December 28, to ask me my side of the story. I explained my side of the story **. [redacted] then told me he will investigate and get back with me. He didn't! The next time I heard from anyone from Geico insurance was in july of 2013 notifying me that they where upgrading my information because I had moved from [redacted], ga to [redacted], ga. At that time I was notified that my premiu** has went up and I said why? the young lady stated that I was at fault in and accident in Dec. Then she connected me to the clai** department in which I talk to **. [redacted], he told me he didnt have time to explain to me how he came to the decision of me being at fault. I asked for his supervisor [redacted], she was no help. Then I was notified by a [redacted], to tell me that they had paid the other Driver in the accident $900.00 for car damages and 3000.00 in bodily injuries. My problem is this 1. You charged me without having a police report, I had to send you a copy in July 31, 2013. 2. The police report said I was not at fault 3. You did not fix or ask to fix my car which is estimated at 2,950.00. and is still not fixed today. 4. Have not contacted me other than telling me I owe them 10.66 because they cancelled my insurance because I didnt pay the new premiu** because of there neglience.Desired Settlement: Fix my truck and reimburse me for the monies spent to rectify there mistake

October 14, 2013

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank you for your October 14, 2013 inquiry.

**. [redacted] contacted us on July 30, 2013 because he disagreed with our liability decision and his rate increase. After reviewing all the evidence, on August 2, 2013 we advised **. [redacted] we were removing the surcharge for this loss and our Underwriting Department confirmed this was done.

In regards to his collision claim, we scheduled two appointments early in the claim to inspect and pay **. [redacted]'s damages, but he did not attend either appointment. For this reason, we assumed he was not pursuing this further. On October 7, 2013, we received **. [redacted]’s inquiry regarding his collision claim. We called him on October 7th and 9th to schedule an inspection but had to leave messages. We have not received a returned call. We stand ready to handle his damages but need to schedule an inspection time with him for our adjuster to evaluate his claim. He can schedule this appointment online or contact us to do so.

We regret any inconvenience this matter has caused **. [redacted] and are happy to reimburse any expense he incurred for the cost of the police report he sent to us.

If you need any additional information please feel free to contact Anita Lord, Clai** Manager, at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Sincerely,

Consumer

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

But, Can I get and estimated date for recieving check from Geico. and how much? They responded with fixing just a bumper, but nothing else, but can you make me understand this. They paid the at-fault party $3,900.00. $900.00 for the damages to her car, $3000.00 for bodily injuries. but they said that problems with my car was not related to the accident. my question is this, How can you determining what is accident related from and accident that happen 11 MONTHS AGO. and only fix what you want and that should be okay. But your Company neglience, has hurt my driving records and cause me to spend excessive money and even turn me into collections for $10.66. I think I should be compensated for the stuff that that have taking me through. But they still they are doing me a favor. I have fell behind in my bills, because I had to spend excessive moneies to get new insurance and borrow money from my other bills to make it so. The way that they are handling me is as if they are doing me a favor. But they created the problem.
