Global Housing Services Corporation Reviews (66)

Review: I was contacted regarding booking a hotel for the [redacted] for $59/night at the [redacted]. I told the person I spoke with that I was unsure of our hotel needs at that time because I wasn't sure how many people would need rooms and for how many nights. I was assured that I could change the reservation as long as I did it at least 15 days in advance. I asked if I would still have the same room rate if I needed to make changes, and was told, "There are no fees for changing your reservation." I updated my reservation by the deadline (June *), and was asked for the names of the people on the rooms. I assumed this meant that everything was fine. Then on June [redacted], I received an email stating that the room rate would now be $99. I asked to cancel the reservation and have my deposit refunded since this was not the rate I agreed to and 4 days later received a messaging stating that $99 was the best possible rate and with no mention of my request. I tried several times to reach someone by phone. When I finally reached someone, they said I should contact [redacted] at a different number. After several attempts, I reached [redacted]. After a lengthy conversation and his refusal to allow me to cancel this reservation, he told me to email a request for a different hotel that might be offered.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my deposit refunded and the reservation cancelled. I no longer need these rooms and do not wish to do business with a company that is misrepresenting their policies in this way.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Global Housing Services Corporation regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

The business did not resolve this situation to my satisfaction. I contacted them and asked them to cancel the reservation, to minimize my financial liability, and reverse the charges, minus a fee of 25% of the original reservation ($381). They agreed to do so, but have not yet done it.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Response:

At this time, my complaint, ID [redacted] regarding Global Housing Services Corporation has been resolved. I was charged $381 to cancel a reservation that was made under false pretenses. This company misrepresented what they were offering, and not responding to my phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and I was left with no other option. They are unethical and dishonest.

Review: This scam housing company calls pretending to be with trade shows, saying you must book hotels now and pay in advance. Every time they call I ask to be taken off the list, On 12/* supervisor Jeff M[redacted] promised I would not receive any more calls. That was 12/*/2014!! They call every couple of months. Today, 1/**/16, "Kevin" called.Desired Settlement: Absolutely no further contact from this company, EVER.

They called in July of 2014 to offer us a hotel rate at the sheraton in Salt Lake City. We agreed and received a contract for the booking. Plus we paid in full for the booking. In late December they then called and said the hotel was sold out and they could not get us the rooms we had booked. Then they did find us two rooms rather than the three we booked but at double the price. SLC is a very difficult place to get hotel rooms during this trade show so this has put us in a very difficult situation.

This company is horribly unprofessional and they are running a scam. We still have not received a refund.

Review: Called us saying that they were the official housing corporation for a conference we were attending which they were not. We ended up paying $50 per night more than we would have if we booked directly through the hotel.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund for the difference in the hotel room price and what we paid them.

Response:

Dear Team, Hope this emails finds you well , I’m sending you this message regarding the complaint : [redacted]Our business ID : [redacted] Regarding this case , our mutual customer mentioned said we told him that we are the official housing corporation for a conference we were attending and this is actually against our company’s policy as we are not the official housing corporation , our company’s name is Global Housing Corporation what we do is we accept hotel reservation near to the convention center as any travel agency .if you go online and check a famous website like [redacted] you will find an advertising saying : [redacted] as the following link [redacted]That doesn’t make them the official housing corporation for any conference as the end they are just a travel agency !! That’s exactly what we do , we inform our customer that we are accepting hotel reservation near to the convention centers and we provide them with the room rate and if they accepted that then we make the reservation for them , also note in all our documents we never mentioned that we are the official housing corporation for a conference Evidence : ( Please find emails from/to the customer )also find their itinerary & invoice attached and none of them states thatwe are the official housing corporation for any conference . also we don’t saysuch things in phone calls and if the customer can provide a recording for thatthen 2 things will happen 1- We will issued him the refund that he/she requested2- We will fire the agent who said that on the spot .I hope this message clarifies your concern .Best Regards,[redacted]

Review: We had received an email solicitation from [redacted] offering to book rooms for an upcoming conference in Baltimore. The original offer claims: "Cancellation Policy : You can make any changes to your reservations (Names, Dates & Number of rooms) until 15 days prior to your check in date with no penalties ." On that basis and with a reasonable price offer, reservations for 3 rooms were made. The next day, an accounting review forced us to lay off 3 people and travel was canceled. I contacted [redacted] Services to cancel our reservation. They refused and warned that cancellation would incur a 25% penalty... as per the fine print in the contract... by the way, that fine print does not appear anywhere else in their offerings or the emails they sent trying to get our business.Desired Settlement: Our trip was canceled. I wish to have the reservations canceled with no penalty.

Response:

Dear All,Kindly note the policy listed below is specifically for cancelling some nights/some names/adding names or nights ..etc. ( as for example the exact dates for the convention center is September [redacted], 2015 ) and you have your dates from September [redacted], 2015 in all rooms so you might need to cancel the first night in order for you to match the exact dates , or if some of your guests can’t show on the first day so they will come on September [redacted] ..The other policy is the whole reservation cancellation policy which is : should the entire reservation be cancelled you agree to pay a cancellation fee in the amount of 25% of the original total cost of the room accommodation. The customer has signed the agreement and agreed to these rules and now want to cancel the reservation free of charge .Please find attached the conversation between the customer and our company .Bets Regards,[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I feel that [redacted]’s approach was deceptive. Experience with [redacted]1. Sometime in mid-January I received an unsolicited phone call from a company offering to book rooms for our upcoming trip to the [redacted] in Baltimore [redacted] April 2015. I determined that this company was not affiliated with the conference organizers and had somehow obtained a list of attendees or exhibitors and was simply calling them all. I had received other offers like this around that time and agreed to receive an email listing room rates.2. On ** Jan 2015, [redacted] of [redacted] sent offers (attached doc eGH1) for rates at various hotels in the area of the Baltimore Convention Center. A note at the bottom of that email states explicitly: “Cancellation Policy : You can make any changes to your reservations (Names, Dates & Number of rooms) until 15 days prior to your check in date with no penalties.” And it says nothing else… it does not say only “changes” are “no penalty” but “cancellation” will cost you 25%.3. On * March 2015, I tried to book a room at the [redacted], [redacted] by calling the reservation desk at the hotel directly. We have stayed at this hotel the last 3 years in a row. I was told by the manager that he could not book our reservation for the days we wanted… that all of those rooms had been given over to the Baltimore convention authority and that I needed to call them to make a reservation. I called the Baltimore convention authority to inquire about rooms.. and received an automated message that their office hours were M-F 9:30am-5pm, and that I would need to call back then. Since it was 1:30pm on a Tuesday… this seemed wrong. I left a message on their answering machine. I called back about 30 minutes later and received the same automated message.4. Remembering that I had received an offer from a 3rd party, I dug out the email and called [redacted]… I spoke to [redacted] and was offered a rate that was about $160/night which is above the GSA-allowed rate of $150/night. [redacted] then revised the offer to $149/night. She asked for a credit card to hold the reservation. I said I would not want the credit card charged until ** April when we actually showed up at the hotel. I was told no charge would be made until then. At this moment, I am still looking at the **Jan email with the statement that “reservations can be changed up to 15 days prior to the event with no penalties.”5. While still on the phone, [redacted] sent a reservation form for us to review. Checking the dates and hotel name, it seemed correct… I did not read the fine print. I asked the company credit card holder, [redacted], to come to my office to sign the agreement on my computer screen… at this point I still have [redacted] on the phone. He put in the credit card information and initialed the agreement. The [redacted] rep on the line told us we were all set.6. On * March at ~9:40am I received an invoice and travel itinerary from [redacted]… at that very same moment, our accountant was telling us to reduce staff and cancel all travel.7. At about 10:50am on * March, I emailed [redacted] at [redacted] and asked that they cancel our reservations. I also called and left the same request on voicemail. At 5:42pm, after leaving for the day, I received an email response request our reason or cancellation.8. On * March at around 10am, I called to speak with [redacted] again. Instead I got [redacted] who said he would try to help me. At around 10:30am I received an email from [redacted] asking that I reply to [redacted]’s earlier inquiry regarding our reason for cancellation. I never was able to speak with [redacted] again and soon learned that she no longer works there.9. At first [redacted] warned that cancelling the reservation would incur a 25% charge and didn’t we want to just change the reservation instead? Perhaps hold the charge on credit against some future trip we might book through them. I was confused… I asked AB to check the [redacted] online statement and sure enough, a 25% charge ($532.71) had already been made against the [redacted] even though I was told the credit card would not be charged until we arrived at the hotel on 19 April.10. On * March at 3pm, [redacted] was still stalling on the cancellation… At 5pm, I again repeated that we wanted to simply cancel the reservation and obtain a refund for the $532.71 already charged. 11. On ** March, I called [redacted] to again ask for cancellation and complete refund. [redacted] again stalled and said there would have to be a 25% charge.12. On ** March, I again emailed [redacted] to request cancellation and refund.13. On ** March, I received a call from a salesman at [redacted] offering to book rooms for our trip to Baltimore! I explained that I was still trying to cancel a reservation that was still on the books and he referred me to [redacted] I spoke with [redacted], again insisting they cancel and refund the deposit. [redacted] cancelled the reservation finally but would not agree to the refund. I feel that the practice of this company is deceptive because the offers they make include a statement that “You can make any changes to your reservations (Names, Dates & Number of rooms) until 15 days prior to your check in date with no penalties .” but they don’t mean it. Secondly, I received voice assurance on the phone that no charge would be made until we arrived in Baltimore but an immediate charge of $532.71 was made to the [redacted] card. They had our reservation on the books for less than 24 hours when I requested cancellation. The right thing for [redacted] to do is to refund the charge they made. If they had done that in the first place, I would have considered booking with them in the future. Sincerely,[redacted]

Response:

Dear Revdex.com Team, Customer,This is our reply to you as per email attached and we asked you to remove the charge back so we can refund you !We received a note to refund you the balance for the reservations after deducting the cancellation fee, but unfortunately since we received a charge back you have filed with [redacted] we can no longer refund anything until the case is resolved, unless you contact [redacted] and drop the dispute. Best Regards,[redacted]

Review: Global Housing sent an email on 1/**/15 stating that we had contacted them for reservations at the AUVSI trade show. We had not contact them.

The email reads: "Thank you for your interest in booking your accommodations through us.We are currently accepting reservations for AUVSI Unmanned Systems ,from May [redacted] - [redacted] ,2015, Atlanta , GA, Please find below some of the options that are still available."

The email was also misleading about cancellation policy quoted from the email:

"Cancellation Policy : You can make any changes to your reservations (Names, Dates & Number of rooms) until 15 days prior to your check in date with no penalties."

I used the link in the email and was contacted by [redacted] from reservations. I booked one room for one night but was unsure about booking 2 more rooms. [redacted] stated that he would "hold the room reservations" for 2 days and then call me before submitting the reservations for completion. The very next day our credit card was charged for the 2 rooms that were not confirmed. I received an email confirming the reservations. I requested that they cancel the reservation and they stated that I would be charged 25% of the total charges to do so.

I cancelled all reservations and filed a dispute with our credit card company.Desired Settlement: Tech Source Inc requires the total funds charged to the Tech Source credit card to be returned to the credit card and Global housing is to confirm by letter/email, that Global Housing is releasing any claim to the cancellation fees.

Response:

Dear All,Please note that the policy listed below is to make any kind of changes to the rooms/nights as it's considered to be Cancellation for any number of rooms or nights BUT not the whole reservation as cancelling the whole reservation have a different policy which is : should the entire reservation be cancelled you agree to pay a cancellation fee in the amount of 25% of the original total cost of the room accommodation. So I explained to you about the Policy of my company and now it's my job to show you her cancellation request (Untitled.PNG ) and the Signed Reservation Forms that the customer made and agreed which is if they cancelled the reservation there will be a 25% cancellation fees and they made a charge back to our charges and actually the credit card company informed us that will we get the cancellation fees because the customer broke the agreement between us and them .Please let me know if you need to know anything else .Best regards,[redacted]
