Goben Cars Reviews (96)

Mr*** filled out a credit application with Goben Cars Middleton to inquire about financing a used vehicle. As Mr*** stated, he came in and filled out his credit application which clearly states that it is used to obtain credit from financial institutions. It is common practice in
our industry that when one bank turns down a customer for credit, we send it to different banks to try and obtain credit. We do not send it to just one bank if that bank turns down the application the first time. Mr*** is upset that several banks have turned him down, we advised Mr*** that if he doesn't want banks turning down automobile loan applications to please stop filling out credit applications at car dealerships. Goben Cars sells over cars a month in Madison and Middleton and handles every deal the same way, yet Mr*** is the only complaint.Goben Cars did nothing wrong in this matter and will continue to do business legally as we always have. Our resolution for Mr*** would be for him to stop filling out credit applications if he does not want his credit run.Sincerely,*** ***Goben Cars

When Ms*** originally purchased the vehicle from us we did repair a crack in the bumper which we do hundreds of times throughout the year on various cars and never have them come back with any issues.? When Ms*** showed up to show us the damage on her car the grill was missing,
the bumper was smashed and clearly needed to be replaced.? This obviously wasn't because of a previous repair, the vehicle had been in some sort of an accident.? Goben Cars does not cover customers wrecking their cars nor do we offer automobile insurance.? Ms*** was told to call her insurance company and make a claim as the vehicle clearly was in some sort of an accident.? Any insurance adjuster/body shop would be able to tell this by looking at it.? Goben Cars is not interested in helping in any way shape or form as we did nothing wrong.? It is unfortunate that Goben Cars ends up somehow looking like the bad guy in this situation.? Sincerely,*** ***GM

The vehicle was in an accident.? It happened after I purchased the vehicle.? It happened while Goben Cars had the vehicle to install a remote start.? The vehicle front end is not smashed.? I can't view the response to my complaint.? The grill was never fixed after the accident at Goben Cars? while the remote start was being installed.? The dent in the fender was fixed.? But has now cracked in the same place of the original accident

Sorry for the delay on this response, I was on vacation and just getting back into the swing of things.*** ***'s vehicle was fixed to the customers satisfaction and she is now back in that vehicle.? We have not heard any new complaints at this time. Thanks,*** ***General Manager

We initially got a call from Mr.? *** saying his car has? “completely leaked? ALL of? its? oil out”So we? immediately? got him a loaner car, and made an appointmentAs it turns outThe vehicle had ALL of its oil, and the dip stick was hanging outWe could not find
any other issues with the carOn a? Saturday? shortly afterwards Ireceived? a phone call which went exactly like this:? “hello? goben cars” in which she replied “ you guys were supposed to fix my *** car!!” at which point I told her? “do not swear at me” and she responded with “you can buy the car back you f* a***!!” and she hung upSo shortly after that Mr.? *** called back and said that sometimes his? fiancé? gets upsetI then explained to him that NOBODY talks to people like that and expects resultsI then told him that if he called back? on Monday,? treated? my staff with respect,? and did not bring his fiancé in, our service manager would set an appointment for himHe then called our East side location and started misrepresenting the whole situationHe was told to call the West side where he bought it and make an appointment.? He never did.? Mr.? ? *** has been told at least twice to call and make an appointmentWe? cannot? fix his car? if he will not set up an appointmentIf Mr.? ***? treats my staff with the proper respect? we will fix his problem, if there is a problemIf he or his fiancé wants to talk to me or my staff like the way? I? was treated, I would advise Mr.? *** to stay away from my storeI have been running a car dealership for the better part of years.? I? can tell you that this is the first time someone, whom I have never even met, would treat me like that on the phone.? I? will be the bigger person here and do exactly what my warranty says I have to do,? to the letterIt? is a $deductible plus sales taxThere will be no loaner car given out

Unfortunately due to the fact the customer is out of warranty by a considerable amount of time all we can do is direct the customer to their nearest Dodge dealership

***I'm not understanding something.? Why am I the one that has to be put outI'm the one without a car, I'm the one that had to take time out to take my car back each timeI'm the one that has to find rides to where I need to go.? This is an on going issue with a dealer that is so un-Predictable I wouldn't trust getting anything from there again.? I have had so many migraines because of this vehicle.I need a rental car today to get back and forth to get my grand daughter off the busI just need this to be done !!Gobens has had enough chances, now I want mine.Neighbor down stairs told me about the lemon law yesterday when she gave me a ride to drop my key offShe said something like strikes and there outWell, they should of been out strikes ago then!I have witnesses of how many cars I drove since I got the jeep, and how many different times I came home and my neighbors ask me what is going onI, myself would like to know that answer. Our maintenance man is a retired police officer told me to write to channel 3000, or channel and and tell them all the events that have taken place since the 9th of AprilThank you

Ms[redacted] Jeep has always started for us when it was at our dealership.? The reason Ms[redacted] is no longer welcome in the dealership is because she has been very rude to everyone who has tried to help her.? She has created scenes on the show floor even though all we wanted to do was help her get her issues resolved and the Jeep fixed.? No one has treated her with disrespect but she continued to threaten and demean the employees and staff of Goben Cars.? It is apparent that Ms[redacted] no longer wants the vehicle.? We believe she has buyer’s remorse and is trying everything to return the Jeep.? Goben Cars will no longer talk to her or let her on the property.? Her threats and treatment towards Goben Cars Employees has been horribly abusive.? The salesperson Will feels threatened by her presence.? She is also talked and demanded abusive remarks to Don Goben the owner.? All of us employees at Goben Cars can not and will not be treated and verbally abused like this anymore.? Ms[redacted] must stay away from Goben Cars or Goben Cars will go to the court and request a restraining order from Ms[redacted] if she does stay awy from all Goben Car employees.? Everything Goben Cars has done for Ms[redacted] is not stuff the vehicle needed.? The condition of the car she bought was in great condition.? She complained about the tires that had more than half the tread on them.? We offered her new tires and put them on the Jeep for her anyways.? Then she complained about the brakes.? They were also in excellent condition.? Goben cars in good faith put new front and rear brakes on for her just to appease her.? Due to the fact that she was being verbally abusive and putting every employee down in front of her.? We believe Ms[redacted] will never stop harassing Goben Cars Employees.? There is nothing wrong with her Jeep.? We believe she is orchestrating issues that the Jeep does not have in order to harass Goben Cars Employees.? Goben Cars Employees named in this complaint have already written up employment forms stating the abuse Ms[redacted] has forced upon them.? They have made it clear to Don Goben at Goben Cars that they will not be treated like this anymore.? Don Goben of Goben Cars has assured them that they will not have to be in her presence ever again.? Goben Cars begs and pleads that Ms[redacted] stops harassing us and verbally abusing us and fabricating issues that are not there.? Sincerely,[redacted]Goben Cars

The complainant is not a customer of Goben Cars.? The vehicle was actually sold to a Ms[redacted] AS-IS.? She had issues with the vehicle, which we covered without charge to her.? She has a bad U joint and drive shaft, which is not covered under any day power train warranty, which
this vehicle did not come with.? Bottom line, whether or not if this vehicle did have a day warranty is irrelevant, as drive shaft and u joints are not a covered item under our day power train warranty.? A blank warranty was sent along with Mr[redacted] stating exactly what would be covered had the vehicle come with a warranty.? Mr[redacted] on his way out told potential customers to not buy a car from us at which point our relationship is over.? Goben Cars is not interested in doing anymore good faith work to said vehicle.[redacted]GM

Unfortunately we can do nothing more for Ms[redacted].? The vehicle was inspected before the sale and passed that inspection.? The Wisconsin Buyers Guide was signed by her stating that the car was sold AS IS.? We did the best we could for Ms[redacted] on a AS IS vehicle

The dealer admitted that there was a known cooling system problem witch means they knew this. They were the one to tell me what was wrong. It was already going one when I bought the truck. The sales rep didn't let me know that the heat wasn't working when I test drove and seeing as this was my first car I ever got off lot. I didn't know to look for that. The sales rep tricked me into getting it is feel because he knew it wasn't blowing cold air on the passengers said he was on. I want it fixed due to its all have to be replaced and was an issue from day 1

Unfortunately due to the fact the customer is out of warranty by a considerable amount of time all we can do is direct the customer to their nearest Dodge dealership.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Again...this complaint isn't about what was covered necessarily as to what was reported as extreme problems with the car you sold and an unwillingness to make things right.  The 100 day warranty was what you decided to communicate as a way to try and fix the problem within your limited resources.  You have failed to provide the customer service and have failed to resolve the issues reported to you.  This car has costed well over $2,000.00 because of the condition of the car you sold to a teen age customer and when brought back to you within the first 100 days, you didn't care enough to fix the car right.  It doesn't matter how many cars you claim to have fixed for customers, you did not provide that service to me.  Your responses this far have proven nothing except that you are still unwilling to make things right and you are unwilling to admit your errors in taking care of the problem in the first place.

On Thu, Feb 26, 2015 at 8:49 AM, [redacted] wrote:I have been working for Goben Cars for the better part of 15 years. I fix cars that are under warranty on a daily basis. I have personally seen to it that thousands of customers have hadtheir car repaired under this 100 day warranty. An alignment is NOT covered, nor was anyone told that we did an alignment, because again we do not have an alignment rack. If Mr. [redacted] was told to go get an alignment, he should have went and got one. Again an alignment is NOT a covered warranty item. Thank you, [redacted]

Mr. [redacted] bought a 2002 PT Cruiser on 2/5/2016.  The vehicle was sold AS IS as stated on the signed Wisconsin State buyers guide from her. Two months latershe called about her car over heating so as a good will gesture and a good will gesture only we told her to tow the car to Goben...

Cars.  At that point she stated she had no money for a tow.  We told her specifically do not drive the car without any coolant which appeared to be what she had been doing for the previous month or so.  So instead of telling her the car is AS IS which in hind site is what we should have done, we told her to tow it to [redacted] on South Stoughton Road in Madison.  At which point from [redacted] we were told the engine may or may not be damaged due to running it without coolant.  The radiator had a hole in it so out of good will we paid [redacted] over $400 to help Ms. [redacted] get back on the road.  Again the car was sold AS IS without a warranty.  Even if it had our standard 100 day warranty, running it out of coolant is not covered.  Sorry we ever got involved.[redacted]Goben CarsGeneral Manager

Revdex.com:
The vehicle was sold with mechanical problems not disclosed at the time of sale. If the mechanics had inspected it properly it should have been noted by them -like the mechanic at the [redacted] where 'band-aid' repairs were done. I don't believe the car was inspected accurately which is still to be proven though this far down the road warrants unreliable credibility. We were fully guaranteed that everything with the vehicle was in good condition. We were never given a detailed inspection list when were trying to ask about the assessed state of the vehicle. We have concerns about an AS IS vehicle is inspected. The salesman assured us that his name was on the line and he would make sure we would be able to come to him if things on the vehicle were not as they seemed.
