Halterman's Toyota Scion Mitsubishi Reviews (43)

Review: My wife and I went up to Halterman's after seeing the autumn sales offered via their television ad of "black Friday deals", leftover stock and "0%" financing. We had tragically lost our roof on our home and our jeep due to falling trees in the superstorm Sandy, and needed to replace our vehicle. We set our criteria out and [redacted] brought out this [redacted] character. We listened to him, and he seemed nice and personal. The man is a no good. We learned. We totally got taken advantage of... we told him we wanted a 60 month loan, and couldn't go much over $360.00 a month. He showed me, on paper, how the amount from 0% would be around $370, at 5 years. Ok, so they ushered us back into the room where they flurry the paperwork in front of you... sign this, initial this, you know the type. THIS was where we should've stopped and made sure what he told us was what was on the contract. We thought, Halterman's, being such an established business, wouldn't foster such dirty tactics. When we got our first installment in the mail the interest rate was 4.63%, and the loan was 84 months. We were stupid for simply assuming this man, again his name is [redacted], would be of upstanding character, taking into consideration we'd just basically lost everything in the superstorm and just wanted a decent deal as was advertised on TV. I will NEVER, EVER GO TO HALTERMAN'S AGAIN. This was dealing at the lowest possible level of bait-and-switch, and this has got to be about the worst financial mistake we've ever made. The man has the tactics of a dirt merchant. [redacted] was in on this too, she's no angel. I have a high profile regionally and know many people throughout the [redacted] and [redacted], and [redacted] areas. I've made sure I've spread the word about how my wife and I were taken advantage of this past autumn, and I will continue. The Toyota name is good, and the RAV4 we have is a nice vehicle... but had I know we were getting financially taken advantage of at the dealership, that thing would've sat and I'd have gone elsewhere. I called him and spoke with him after the first bill came in, and his response was, "Hey, I cut you a deal and you bought it. If you were so stupid to believe what I told you without reading the contract when you were signing, it was your fault." What he TOLD us and what he put on the contract were two different things. Ask yourself, is this the kind of underhanded dealings *you'd* want to do business with? I think not.Desired Settlement: Just honor the original 0% APR that was advertised for the Black Friday deal and [redacted] told us he was giving us, and make it the 5 year loan he promised us as well. We signed this... we KNOW it's all legal and binding... Halterman's can sit back and laugh at us for not reading this as it was flurried in front of us.

HOWEVER... [redacted] should be reprimanded for his slimy business practices of bait-and-switch contract negotiations and Mr. Halterman, if he wants to keep a satisfied customer, should have enough dignity as a supposed reputable businessman to HONOR what [redacted] told us in the first place. Can I prove this? No. But *why* would I make a stink in the first place if I was making it all up. [redacted] knows the truth and [redacted] knows the truth of what happened that day. We were VICTIMS of terrible dealings.

Review: On June 15, 2013 I purchased a used 2007 Ford Explorer eddie bower edition. I was offered a 6 month warranty however I purchased the 2 yr warranty. I was never really explained the entire details about it I just wanted my vehicle to be covered. On Friday, August 2, 2013 my vehicle broke down at which point I had it towed to Haltermans. To my disbelief I got a phone call today August 5, 2013 to let me know that the problem is my radiator which apparently is not covered under warranty. Its very upsetting that a car that I purchased from Haltermans is not covered under the warranty. Needless to say I am being charged $930 (parts, labor and towing) for a vehicle that was purchased from them. The salesman adv'd me that I would be covered for 2 yrs but failed to tell me what was excluded I guess just to make a sale. I will file all types of reports on all websites if my case is not satisfied. Its a shame that they would sell a vehicle that they probably knew something was wrong with it. Since my purchase I have been to Haltermans on 2 more occasions because my front fender/bumper kept popping off and sticked out. This is unacceptable. I am not working and to pay this much money to get a car fixed that I am still making payments on is ridiculous. I should be compensated in some type of way. Im really dissappointed in a company that I trusted in.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund. I am really dissatisfied and upset at the customer service received from their service department as well.

[redacted],I received a letter today regarding an open complaint regarding **. [redacted]. I apologize, I had emailed the response to that complaint several weeks ago, but today I realized my dealership email is not working. Please see the following response below:[redacted] Case # [redacted]We have come to an agreement with **. [redacted]t to give her a check for $300.00 and also a $300.00 voucher to be used in our service department for a future visit. She expressed to us today (August 21, 2013) that this will satisfy her complaint.

Review: I bought a car from Halterman's agency on 10/31/2011. at the time of purchase, I agreed to also buy two services each is $600.00. one of those services is discontinued. the service is a [redacted] system that is a sort of treatment that is applied yearly to the car to eliminate bad odors and allergens that result from pets, etc.

I was able to use the service only once because the service was no longer available. after many trials and phone calls, mr. T[redacted], the service manager offered his help by selling me another service they now have that is better and cheaper than the original service I bought. but they are not willing to give me credit for what I already bought and wanted me to pay again while I pursue refunding my previous money from their sales or finance office which failed to help even after many attempts and calls and reminders.Desired Settlement: I like a refund of the portion that is not used. I paid for five years contract but received the service only one year as explained above. so I am entitled for $460.00, plus the service charges accumulated due to adding it to the price of the total car and financing it over five years with 2.99 compound interest. thank you..

August 4th, 2014Dear [redacted],The person [redacted] spoke to was misinformed regarding the [redacted] system and the issue has been addressed with him. We are extremely sorry for the confusion surrounding the situation. There is no contract for [redacted] stating that any services are owed. We have agreed to do a renew or refresh for her at no charge, but to date she says she is not interested.Sincerely,Allen BGM

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I do have a contract as well as a clear record where it is stated on the car sales document. it shows clearly that in addition to the price of the car, registration, taxes, etc., there are two additional fees of $600 each for a total of 1200.00. one is for exterior protection (which I do not have any issues with), and the second is for drivpur (with which I am having problems.). they financed at 2.99 for five years; the age of car finance contract.
