I ordered a book from AbebooksThe book was described as being in good conditionWhen it arrived, however, its condition was average at bestSo I contacted customer support, and (after I provided them with photographic evidence of my claim) they offered me a full refund without having to return the bookAs such, their customer support managed to change what was initially a very negative experience to a very positive experience!

I ordered a book on Feb 10; received confirmation the same day On Feb I received a "form" email saying that "Abebooks has processed a refund to your credit card for the order below." with the cited reason "bookseller accepted order in error." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? I think it means that they mis-priced the book and are not standing by their price-tag What store would be able to get away with that?

I ordered a book from you over a week ago, almost two weeks I live in OH and the fact that you cant get a book to me faster than that, especially since you guys are located in Toledo, is very unacceptable Since I did not get my textbook when I was supposed to, I now lost 25% of my grade, while still trusting that you would send it to me I will never be using your company again, nor will I recommend it to anyone...I will make sure to go out of my way and tell everyone I know not to use your company

Purchased "expedited shipping" because it gave an estimated receive date of OctAfter the shipping confirmation, it now says expected date is Oct27-Only after they took my money they say there are "rare occasions that shipping can take longer than usual." Needless to say, I have not received my book in time for class, and I will not be purchasing any books from either siteI wish I would have done more research on both companies before investing my time and moneyBAD EXPERIENCE!

The book is excellent, as described and arrived quickly I am especially happy to post this since there are so many negative remarks

I ordered a textbook from Hippo Books through Barnes & Noble Marketplace. I paid for expedited shipping, which provided a window of 3 to 6 business days for the book to arrive. After 17 days, the books still hasn't arrived. I've already contacted B&N for a full refund.

Beware this seller. There are reviews all over the internet that indicate that this is a common problem. If you are using B&N or Amazon Marketplace and you see "Hippo Books," do not purchase through them.

I ordered a book several weeks ago from Hippo_books & have never received it. When I tried to track it, there was no tracking #. I am waiting to hear from them!

I ordered a textbook through Hippo Books, and several days after they accepted
my order and withdrew payment....at a time
when they should already have shipped the book, they cancelled the order, leaving me with no book for my daughter's class, and the next inexpensive option already sold. Why confirm the order, take payment and then cancel the order days afterwards?

I have ordered many books from Hippo Books with no problems at all.

I ordered a book 12 days ago and have not received it. There is no tracking on the item, but says it has been shipped. I feel like I've been scammed, especially after reading the other reviews. I do not recommend Hippo Books or their services.

I ordered from Hippo Books through [redacted] and experienced issues similar to many others posted here:

- I received a book that was different from the description (wrong publisher: low-end instead of high-end as listed).
- After being promised a refund, I did not receive it at first.

However, customer service responded very quickly and was courteous. After two interactions, I did receive my refund without having to return the book (as I would have been required by the terms of sale).

Only based on my experience from this one order, I had the impression that:
- Hippo Books has some issues with their systems.
- The company is not being purposefully deceitful.
- In my case, I have been treated with great respect by their customer service reps.

Hippo Books Strikes Again !! A book I recently ordered from them,advertised as in "Good Condition" turned out to be an ex-library copy with library markings on the title page, the library call number taped to the bottom of the spine,a portion of the frontisepiece cut out at the top and the outer corners of the front and back covers partially separated from the backing. is this what they consider" Good Condition"?...in view of the preceding negative reviews I wonder how these people stay in business and why [redacted] would continue to carry them. they seem to have no concept of professional ethics. as was said in other comments I shall never order another book from this bookseller and I shall try to save anyone else from making the same mistake...Hippo Books needs to clean up its act or get out of the business.

I ordered a book as a gift through Amazon, to be shipped by hippo_books. The book was delivered but pages 45 through 52 were missing. UNACCEPTABLE!

This seller sold me a book for a reasonable price with the book in good condition. After marking it shipped, they messaged me telling me that the book was in very poor condition. Instead of letting me decide when I received it whether to keep or send it back, the book never came at all. Instead, I still have an open order through them that I assume will be there indefinitely until I find a way to dispute. Turns out that a few other sellers were trying to sell it for over $100 and they wanted to try to squeeze a few more bucks out of it rather than honor their deal. The book is not even rare/valuable, it's just hard to find in the US, so the joke is on them. Apparently I'm not the only one to find their service terrible.

Seller takes your money and DOES NOT SHIP. Then they hide behind, "Our sytem does not keep track of tracking numbers." In today's business world, everything has tracking numbers and to say they don't know them to ME is like a customer saying, "The check is in the mail." It is a sign the company IS TAKING YOUR MONEY AND RUNNING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK.

I give them an F-. They are horrible, horrible, horrible, and if tracking matters to you then NEVER use this company!!!

I ordered a book though a differnet company and they used Hippo books as a third party. I received my order in one day shy of a month after it was ordered. They would not send me any tracking info that worked. There is no way to contact a person directly via the phone. They take 3 days to return an email. This was the worst experience I have ever had with ordering anything online. Do not use this company.

I have placed over a dozen books from Hippo Books. Never a problem with the transaction or the quality of the merchandise.

Yesterday, I investigated my past book purchases from several months ago and realized that a particular book had not been delivered even though my credit card had been charged. I saw the book seller's rating of "F" and immediately filed complaints and also wrote them.
However, I quickly back 2 responses from the bookseller to my 2 emails, apologizing for the error and promising to refund my purchase. So I am very remorseful for my quick action in filing complaints, and have found the book seller to be very prompt in this matter.

This company does not ship the books you order they only take your money. When I contacted customer service regarding my missing book their response was, "We guarantee all our items to be delivered by the date promised. tracking was not available for this order, and fear it has been lost in transit. This package has not been returned to us, and unfortunately there is no replacement copy in stock for this item". Note they are now posting this same book on B&N's website for $500.00 in the same condition I purchased it (I have no idea who would pay that much for a paperback romance from 1996…and yes the author is alive).

I have ordered several times from hippo_books off of amazon.com. every time, my order is nearly immediately processed and I recieve it in good condition within a couple days. I feel this is a great business!
I have also contacted them more than once reguarding delivery and received acceptable responses within 48hours.
