Home Service Doctors Reviews (%countItem)

They’re the best company out here, they were very respectful, honest and professional. I recommend them to everyone in the DMV area.

When Home Service Doctors checked my water heater and pipes, they told they were not sure what caused the burst but said there was too much pressure on my water heater. So, they gave me 2 options. One is to just replace PVC pipe for around $450 with no warranty. And option 2 was $1,100 (including the membership fee) to exchange the mixing valve pipe and install an expansion tank to relieve the pressure on the pipes. So, I joined as a member and got a 15% discount, and a 10% military discount, which lowered the price to $850. I thought this was still overpriced but decided to do it because it was an emergency, and the burst pipe had caused water damage to several other units below my floor. If it meant that I received excellent service, I didn’t mind paying the extra amount, especially because the Home Service Doctors membership agreement stated [Lifetime Workmanship Warranties!]. After the Home Service Doctor technician replaced the burst pipe and checked that the water heated up properly, he left. The next day, someone from the unit directly below mine came up to me and told me that water was still leaking from my unit. When we checked the water heater, we found water leaking from the point where the brass met the CPVC. I called Home Service Doctors once again, and this time, they replaced the connection part of the water heater and the PVC pipe to a copper pipe. Once he replaced the parts, he immediately checked the water temperature without waiting for the glue to dry. Five days after Home Service Doctors replaced the pipe, it popped out from the copper connection, incurring further water damage to my unit and several others below me. When I called Home Service Doctor once again, they came and told me that the water heater was not working properly. The technician told me that the gas valve that detects pressure inside the water heater failed, and that’s what caused the pipe to come out. The technician checked with the water heater manufacturer and found that the heater and its parts were still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. The technician then gave me an invoice and information on where to order those parts (Gas valve and T&P pipe) and told me labor is not covered so I have to pay them another $460 to put the parts on. And the technician also told me that the parts were customized, so I have to order it through the manufacturer, and I paid $25 as a delivery fee. The technician had originally recommended that I install an expansion tank because it would prevent any pressure-related damage. However, now the technician is telling me something different caused the pressure issue and is charging me for it.
When I spoke to a company manager – Mike – all he said was that it was not their fault, and that since the damage was caused by machine failure, I had to pay the $460 to fix it and that they were not responsible for any water damage to my property. When I asked Mike why his technician insisted that I install an expansion tank when it obviously did not solve the pressure issue, he kept saying the same things over and over, and also said that they didn’t have to wait and sit in my house for 3 days to make sure the pipe didn’t burst. Mike also proceeded to tell me that Virginia law required that I install an expansion tank. When I checked the Virginia codes with my lawyer, it was evident that there is no such legal requirement in Virginia. I even told him the other floors’ water heater didn’t have expansion tanks.
I asked another plumber for a second opinion. The other plumber said that the pipe coming out was probably caused by using defective parts or through sloppy servicing by a plumber. He also said that the overall job itself looked as if it was done by an amateur. The plumber also asked me how long the technician waited before turning on the hot water after the new pipe was installed. I told him that the Home Service Doctors technician turned on the hot water immediately after replacing the pipe. The plumber told me that I should have waited around one day to give time for the glue to dry. This information was never relayed to me by the Home Service Doctors technician. After I got the second opinion, I called Home Service Doctors again and asked to speak to the owner or a manager, and Mike called me back. I told him what the plumber had told me and said I wanted a refund on the job and he can take back all the stuff. He said no, and when I pointed out the 100% satisfaction guaranteed or you don’t pay [100% satisfaction Guarantee. We promise your complete satisfaction- GUARANTEED! If you are not fully satisfied, let us know, and we'll make it right or you don't pay] language, he simply said it was the machine’s fault, not theirs. However, the membership agreement does not contain any such exception or condition as to when the guarantee provision would not apply.
The Home Service Doctors technician failed to do his job properly by turning on the hot water immediately after applying the glue. The company manager was just rude when he told me that it was not their responsibility to sit around for 3 days to make sure the pressure issue was resolved. Such carelessness is unacceptable. The manager made stuff up and lied to me when he told me that Virginia law required that I install an expansion tank, when clearly there is no such legal requirement. The company itself is lying because, while its contract for its membership program clearly states that the company would fix any unsatisfactory performance, and that the customer would not have to pay unless performance was satisfactory. Performance was obviously not satisfactory – it was disastrous. But when pressed about it, the company failed to provide any reasonable explanation as to why that language from the contract did not apply. Home Service Doctors is unreliable and does not take ownership in its work.

Kitchen drain snaked for silt. Drain pipe breaks while routing causing water damage requiring significant repair in excess of several thousand dollars to room below kitchen. Company states this is customer's responsibility not their's. Owner, Randy B says,"If I had to pay everyone for damage done, I'd be out of business." Makes you wonder how much damage is being done that he's getting away with.

Never had this snaking problem before. I understand that older homes have older pipes which require an easier, more gentle approach. The technique used here was "full steam ahead" forcefully advancing the snake line to get job done as quickly as possible, with no inspection of work done, no inquiry into what's below kitchen. I found out the plumber had only been with this company one month. Was he fired from his last employment? Am I a victim to the reason? Home Service Doctors offered to fix leak but only at my expenses. They are not concerned about the other damages.

Some companies seem more caught up in making money than customer service and generating "goodwill. "This is one of those companies. Hurry. Get the job done. Collect the money. Next.

I would advise everyone to steer clear of this company at all costs. Karma will deal with Randy B.

Scammed my elderly parents out of $1,500. Installed an undersized AC into a pre-existing frame, charged $1,200 for "labor" then $15 a month for some "membership" (which is totally worthless). On top of quickly and shoddily installing the wrong-sized unit, the unit broke within a year.
