Consumer
Response /* (450, 12, 2014/04/07) */
The consumer indicated ONLINE that the business responded to this complaint to his/her satisfactionHe/she also stated:
The dealer sent me $to buy smaller rims for the front end

Dear Revdex.com, I am in receipt of the complaint filed by *** *** concerning advertising issuesAs she stated in her complaint, the ad that she is referring to was not an advertisement from Honda CityBut it was an advertisement done by Huntington HondaWhich we did, and
made it better than what Huntington Honda had advertisedThe advertisement as stated was for a lease of 10,miles per yearThe miles per year are important in calculating the monthly payment because as the miles per year increase, so does the depreciation of the vehicle which in turn causes the payment to riseThe lease that we provided, at the request of the customer was a 12,mile per year leaseSo it was not the same deal that the customer requested, it is and was a much better dealShe is correct the Chevrolet Cruises that were being turned in did have payments owned on them, which we collectedThe additional funds on the day of delivery were simply the first month’s payments on the leaseThis was not a change to, or an additional down payment, on the leasesIt is true that had the customer not wanted to make the first payments on the vehicles, we would not have been able to complete the dealsWhile we were able to and willing to absorb the additional mileage on the leases due to the fact the customer was going to purchase multiple cars, it was not possible to absorb also the first months’ payments on the vehiclesIf that was something the customer had not been able to pay, we would have had to include it in the capitalized cost of the car and raise the monthly payment or not sell the vehiclesThe college grad program is not a Honda City program, but a program offered by American Honda Motor CompanyThey set the parameters and rules for the programThere is no reason for a dealer not to offer the program to a customer if they qualityThe $dollars offered to the customer comes directly from AHMC and has no participation from the dealerThere was a miscommunication as to the customer’s daughter qualification. It was over the words “did” and “will”We had understood it as that she had graduated in May, not that she will graduate in MayIt was clearly a misunderstandingHowever, Honda City doesn’t have the authority to change the rules for qualificationNor does Honda City profit in any way from a customer not taking or not qualifying for the programI would also like to address the sentence in the complaint that states “They took our Chevy Cruises and we had no choice but to give him the money.” This statement makes it sound like Honda City was in possession of the vehicles and would not return them if the customer did not wish to complete the dealThis would be a total misrepresentation of the factsThe cars were not pre-traded. Nor was Honda City in possession of the cars at any time preventing the customer from canceling the dealIn fact, we never traded the vehiclesThe customer stated that they didn’t want to have to go to Chevrolet to return the cars, so we offered to do that for them as a courtesyIn conclusion, I do not think there was any advertising in any wayThe ad was one of a different dealershipThe money paid was the payments owned on the previous Chevrolet lease plus first payment on the new vehiclesThe college grad program simply was not able to be used because the customer did not qualify for it.Nico, the sales manager, has been with the dealership for several years and has always had a top notch reputation and had been recognized nationally by American Honda years in a rowWhile he like anyone may not be perfect, he was trying to serve the customers as well as possible.I would however, in the spirit of customer satisfaction, like to offer the customer 2- $Honda City gift cards per vehicleSo $in gift cards per vehicle for a total of $value. These maybe used towards any service or parts and accessories sold at our service facilityWhile they may not be exchanged for cash, they can be used to differ the cost of maintenance and they have no expiration date so they can be used at the customer’s leisure. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Dennis B***General Manager

Better Business Burea
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:In response to Mr B***s comments, the issue with the tires has been documented by Honda Citys own mechanics as being choppy and causing road noise..in addition I have multiple reports from various service stations stating the same and that the tires need to be replacedas far as him stating they do not test drive cars at speeds that are illegal, explain why his own mechanics noted the issue...I have also replaced tires on many cars that have not been OEM tires and I have never had a problem so as to suggest that the problem is due to non-OEM tires is ridiculous..In regards to the brakes and rotors, I was not informed of the issue with them until the day I picked up the car by the Used car sales Manager Steve when he was walking me to the carhe told me that the car will need brakes and rotors because there is a grinding when brakinghe had explained prior to the sale that anything that was questionable would be repaired prior to the purchase....the $was not offered as an option if I did not get the brakes done by themit was offered to me during negotiations of the sale of the carOne had nothing to do with the other..I was told by the service department that the tires and brakes should have been replaced but it was out of their hands since they were told not to...in addition, the service department also informed me that the results of the inspection and issues with the car was supposed to have been gone over with me prior to purchasei have asked for the paperwork from the inspection check off sheet but still have not received it and the issues with the car were not reviewed with me..I am appalled that MrB*** has basically said that I have lied with all that I have said, I have multiple witnesses that can vouch for my statementsI can provide copies of all documentation I have regarding the tires and brake issues if necessary as well as the witnesses that I have spoken about..In closing, I am still requesting that the tires get replaced with comparable tires and that I get reimbursed for the brakes and rotors..

On occasion the payoff we receive from a bank can be off for various reasons, and the responsibility for any
discrepancy in that amount falls on the customer, as it is their loanIn fact, a form is signed during the final paper work stating as much
Having said that, we do apologize for any misunderstanding regarding this transaction, and Honda City will cover the $shortfall in the payoff
We will do our best to honor the customers wishes and no longer contact them, but we are always glad to help in the future if the customer wishes to reach out to us
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2014/04/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Honda City is still cheating on the short payoff reason, but I am sick of their full-mouth lies
The only reason that I accept your response is the money issue solved, and I am not willing to communicate with disgraceful dealership Honda City Chicago
Yet I accept the money-related part, I totally disagree their explanation regarding the short payoff, and I consider their explanation as deliberate defamation
Honda City claims that the payoff is due to bank processing, however, the truth is the short payoff is caused by Honda City's deliberate cheating by preparing paperwork with payoff numbers different from what was in the oral agreementAnd then flood customer with papers , aggressively request signatures without giving time to customer to review the paperwork
Including this time I visited Honda City and purchased two vehiclesAnd neither of these two purchases are decent
Honda City should be grateful that I did not sue them at the first purchase that the mileage of a so-called "new" accord sold to me was miles rather than miles on the paper work
Yet they cheated me againI wanted to warn every resident in Chicago area, do not ever consider Honda City for your purchase anymoreAll they care is only grabbing more money from your pocket, in either legal or illegal way

We are sorry Mr*** had a less than satisfactory experience with Honda CityAlthough he purchased his used car
"as is", we understand his frustrationAs a gesture of good will, we will provide the tire at no cost to himPlease have him contact the service manager, *** *** to schedule
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/10/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Although it is true I did purchase the car "as-is", it is the responsibility of the dealer to disclose any mechanical issues or defects that may relate to the vehicleWhen I asked if there was anything wrong with the vehicle, I was told noFurther more, if Honda City persists with their arrogant mistreatment, I may pursue legal actionAfter taking the vehicle to another mechanic for replacing rotors, it was told to me that the rear calipers were "bad" and had been for some timeThis further supports the fact that Honda City did not perform the "inspection" that they claimed to haveIt still begs the question how do you sell a vehicle that you have not even serviced? I would say I am letting them off easy and I will be in touch for a tire replacement

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseMrB*** apparently hasnt read any of the paperwork from his own service center stating that the tires are damaged and that they need to be replaced to stop the road noise and ride issueI have replaced many car tires in the past and have had no problems with them so his comment about the tires not being OEM and that causing the issues is ridiculousThere are no standard OEM tires in the businessCar manufacturers can suggest tires for their car but its not like a specific car part that would be manufactured by the maker of the car.I do not accept his offer of only paying for the labor of getting tires that I would purchase since this has been offered since I have been in contact with him about the problems. as far as everything passing inspection, to sell a car that needs that kind of immediate work and to explain that after the sale has been complete is irresponsible...Passing inspection and being in satisfactory condition are two different thingsagain, I have witnesses that can vouch that the $was not offered to be used to fix the brakes but a part of the negotiations of the car purchase A dealer should back the cars they sell and work to make their customers satisfied..and that would include making the purchase of the car a satisfying experienceI would think he would want the customer to come back for future purchases and to recommend them to friends and familyThat will not be happening on my part.I am still requesting that the dealer replaces the tires with comparable tires and reinburses me for the brakes and rotors..

Dear Revdex.com, I am notifying you that we have contacted [redacted] and came up with an agreement with her. Any further inquiries, please feel free to contact me.  Sincerely, Dennis B[redacted]General Manager

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

There were many false statements made by Honda City.  First, we both agree that I came into Honda City with an advertisement from Huntington Honda (please see the advertisement attached).  I went into Honda City and asked Nico if he could do the advertisement deal here in Levittown or I will go to Huntington Honda.  Nico went into the back and came out with his hand extended, so as to shake hands and said we can do the deal.  Mind you this was a three car deal.  The deal states that the lease would be $169.00 a month for 36 months, $0 down payment, plus bank fees and offered 10,000 miles a year equaling 30,000 miles at the end of the lease.  It was at that time that he asked for $1,000 from each of us.  We believed this to be the bank fees, DMV fees - transferring plates/registration, and one months payment on the new vehicle as stated in the advertisement.  Next, they told us they were getting us out of our current leases by absorbing the payments.  They even called to check that there was only two payments left at $148.00.  Clearly, if you do the math this is not adding up already.  Then we asked if there were any educators discounts or college discounts as Chevy gives those discounts to customers.  Nico said, yes they give a college discount.  My daughter said she is college and next semester she will be graduating.  He asked if she could provide a transcript and she said yes.   At the time of finalizing paperwork, they asked for $1,000 more from each of us except for one car which was almost $800.  So now that would mean  $2,000 per person; $6,000 total.  Then they told my daughter that she was not getting the discount.  We asked why and why are we paying additional money?  It was at that time that I turned to look out the window as our Chevy Cruises were being removed from the lot and the license plates were on the desk outside the Bank Manager's office.  We didn't even sign and our cars were taken.  We never said we wouldn't return the cars that was a blatant LIE made by Honda City.  We were there at 2:00 and how convenient for them they kept us there and now it's near 5:00 and they were getting ready to close and we had no cars.  They took the rest of the money they were asking from us and it was a nightmare.  Nico did not treat us fairly and I can honestly say that the bank manager and the salesperson apologized for his behavior and for the craziness and lying that was going on.  In fact, the saleperson said he would call us and make it right, which he never did.  Are you surprised???   My family feels betrayed and horrified by the way we were treated in addition they are NOT meeting the advertisement deal.  We were talking about this in public and someone stepped forward and said they had the same problem with Nico two months ago and that he filed a Revdex.com complaint.  So why this person is winning awards is a shock to both me and this new person I just met.  We were insulted by what they were offering as a peace offering.  This is a false advertisement claim, this is a complaint about the way we were treated by Honda City and we are seeking the advertisement deal to be met.  We are seeking $500 for my daughter, the college student and we are seeking $1,000 per car since it was a $0 down payment.  In addition, two cars are being charged $179. 00 a month, and one is for 10,000 miles a year and the other is for 12,000 miles.  We are also seeking that the two cars with 10,000 miles a year pay the advertisement deal of $169.00 a month.   Sincerely,[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Let's talk facts.  Please note that this manager/car dealership is talking in circles.  The manager wasn't even there.  First, we did enter the car dealership.  I believe that's a given. FACT: We had an advertisement that we brought in and asked if they could match the deal listed in the advertisement.  They said, YES.  FACT:  We then asked, do you give discounts for teachers or college students, as Chevy does and they said, YES.  Just YES of course, a salesman not stating what the actual requirements were, just that my daughter would get $500 off if she was graduating in the next 6 months.  As anyone knows, colleges run by SEMESTERS not months.  So my daughter said yes, next semester I will be graduating and there was Nico smiling and shaking his head stating that YES she qualified.  If he denies this then there are some serious issues over there in that company.  I have witnesses.  FACT:  In addition, the deal we were making was that we were leasing cars NO MONEY DOWN.  Yes, we understood bank fees and DMV fees.  We asked if they were going to absorb our two lease payments left and they said YES.  Never stating that they were going to put that into our new lease plan.  Very poor communication skills.  Even so, if you do the math they took $1,000 down from each of us.  The situation was a bad situation as I had mentioned prior and they took our cars ... We didn't even sign the lease yet.  We were still in the bank manager's office.  They wanted a sale, those salesmen would say anything they could to rope us in and they did damage to us.  My daughter deserves that $500.  We all deserve the money down back that they took wrongly from us.  As you can see by the ad it clearly states NO MONEY DOWN (please refer to my attachment on my last letter).  They are talking in circles and they are avoiding the clear truth that they did not do the deal we had asked them to do.  FACT:  And I have to laugh, I asked if it was possible if I could get 12,000 miles because I was paying a higher amount,  why I was paying a higher amount I don't know,  but the amount I was paying a month qualified me for a HONDA ACCORD LX as stated in the advertisement that I attached in my last letter.  So, no the salesmen didn't do us any favors as they may think they had.  In addition, since they mentioned Stephen's name in their last letter, I will give your further information.  Stephen is a young 18 year old boy.  He was hired by Nico.  He was new and should of had a mentor.  He did paperwork wrong, he had the same VIN number for two vehicles, the bank manager was so upset because this dealership was closing soon and the paperwork needed to be fixed.   Stephen knows the truth and Stephen said as we were walking out that he was going to call us and do something to make this right.  We are still waiting for the call that never came.  Again, the bank manager apologized for all the craziness that was taking place.  Maybe the dealership would like to answer the question, Why did your employees recognize that there was wrong doings being done to us?   I would like to finally state that I have five Honda's at my house.  I will tell you that we will never do business with this dealership, especially the way this dealership acts and does business ever again.  They need to make their FALSE ADVERTISING deal right.  I will continue to argue this until this is settled.  Again, I should have went on YELP and other sites that would have warned me about this place.  Consumers need to do research before entering a business.  That I learned.  So, yes I repeat this was false advertisement and this was two salesmen trying to get three cars off their lot.  Very sad.In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

We apologize for any delay and getting this handled for Ms. [redacted]. A check was cut for $1500 on 11/12/14,...

and sent to Honda Financial. This will reduce the principal balance on the loan. Just to be clear, the payment is not recalculated, but for all intents and purposes, the loan term will be shortened due to the principal reduction.
This can take 10-14 days to work it's way through the system, so it should reflect the reduction shortly.

[redacted] New York Revdex.com   RE: [redacted]  ID# [redacted]   I am again in receipt of [redacted]’s letter concerning her 2010 Toyota Highlander. The tires in question  are not OEM tires and it is a fact that a OEM tire will not have the same ride as a OEM tire, this is an undisputed fact. The tires on this vehicle are safe and passed New York State Inspection with flying colors.  I will still honor my offer to cover the cost of a mount and balance of new tires. But the tires would be at the customers expense, although I would be willing to sell them at cost if [redacted] elects to purchase them from us, however my offer to cover the cost of mount and balance would be good if she purchases tires from someone else as well. I have spoken to our used car manager concerning the brakes and rotors did pass New York State Inspection. He did tell [redacted] prior to the completion of the sale and [redacted] did make the decision to take the lower price. My Service department did say that the brakes and rotors are going to need replaced, but they are still over the NY State limits for inspection. The inspection check off sheet [redacted] refers to in her letter, I am not sure what she is referring to.  Since this is a Toyota, there is no Honda Certified Check off list. And we do not  have a standard check off list that we would have given to her. I have not said in any of my responses that [redacted] is lieing. I did say that she is the is possibly the victum of a over zellous outside repair facility. We stand by our offer of offering to pay for the mount and balance of new customer provided tires and we do not feel that Honda City is responsible for brakes and rotors as we delivered a car that had successfully passed New York State Inspection. We have been in contact with Mr. [redacted] regarding this complaint. We are sorry there was a miscommunication with Mr....

[redacted] regarding the tie rod replacement. This was a legitimate and needed repair, but we understand Mr. [redacted]'s position. We did discount the bill initially, and we also paid for a rental car for 5 days while the car was in our service department. As a gesture of good will, we would like to offer to refund the labor minus the $60 it would have cost him to have the tie rod replaced elsewhere.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/03/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Because this is not want my car was brought into the dealership for, my tire rod was good enough the drive next year. Also, Mr. [redacted] he stated that the rental car was for 5 days, the rental stated that they needed the car back the next business day. Also, I had to borrow money from the bank for some unwanted work to be done on my car, which the bank charged interest. At the end of the my car shut off again and you still couldn't tell me what's going on with my car. With no disrespect to Mr. [redacted] by him calling me from another dealership, I'm afraid to deal with Honda because it's a game that they play. I would like to receive all of the money back that I used in the car rental and upon paying you all to pay back to my bank.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/03/27) */
As we mentioned in our previous response, we payed for the rental car for Mr. [redacted], which Mr. [redacted] had from 2/28/14 to 3/3/14. Please see the attached receipt. You will also notice a $40.50 charge. That was payed by Mr. [redacted]. This is for car insurance, which he either lacked, or his policy didn't cover rental cars.
Deteriorating tie rod ends are a safety issue, and complete failure can be catastrophic. We stand behind our recommendation. Having said that, we offered to reverse the work when Mr. [redacted] picked up the vehicle, at no charge, but Mr. [redacted] declined.
As for the diagnosis of the vehicle "shutting off", or dying, we found no fault codes in the ECU (the computer "brain" of the vehicle), and could not recreate the issue. Therefore, we can not fix an issue that doesn't present itself. We charged Mr. [redacted] nothing for the diagnostic time.
Our offer to refund the labor for for the tie rod end replacement, minus $60 still stands. Mr. [redacted] has a brand new tie rod, and therefore a safer vehicle, for the cost of the part and $60. We believe that is a very fair offer.

We reached out to the customer, and are going to send a check for $350. We are sorry for an confusion or misunderstanding.

I bought a 2013 Honda Odyssey from Honda city. When I bought my minivan I bought a service package which included oil changes. My first time going in for an oil change I was in the dealer for 4 1/2 hrs waiting for my car. On my fourth time going in for an oil change I was told that I had to pay an extra 30 dollars out of pocket for my oil change since they were going to change from regular oil to semi synthetic oil. I spoke to the general manager Mr. [redacted] and told him that I didn't agree with the change and he gave me a different story. He told me that they made a mistake on my contract and I had been getting synthetic oil all along and that I should count my blessings for not getting charge extra before.
