As the "transfer company" Honest and True Moving Crew failed to deliver antique family heirloom furniture pieces and English Bone China.
On April 8, 2017 my niece and I engaged with *** Van Lines (see Revdex.com Case #***) to move several family heirloom antique furniture pieces and English Bone China from her home in *** to my sister and mine's storage facility in Florida. I provided $645.00 on my credit card for the initial moving cost with another $500.00 (in cash per their request) at time of pick up. The items were to be delivered on April 5th, however, they did not show up until April 7th, and that was after numerous calls to their dispatch office, basically forcing them to deliver. Upon arrival, it was this company who said they were the "transfer" company. My sister and I were told by Honest and True Moving Crew that they were a transfer company and that *** Van Lines had transferred our furniture to them in*** After about 20 minutes of a disorganized mess, we were told that our furniture was not on the truck! Then we told they did not know where it was! After several calls to *** Van Lines and Honest and True Moving Crew's offices, we were told they "would try to find it"! After a week, my nephew-in-law suggested we contact our family lawyer, *** of *** FL. Mr. has attempted to contact both companies, and has been given all kinds of excuses, lies, run-a-round, and now has had his phone number blocked by the companies. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company, ***, to get the $645.00 returned, but even *** is having a difficult time with ***. *** is now proceeding through ***'s bank to obtain this money. We hold both *** Van Lines, Inc. and Honest and True Moving Crew accountable. They both broke the chain of custody, stole from us, and have been lying with every breath they take, no one taking responsibility. We have filed FELONY charges at the police department due to the amount of money and cost of replacing these items, $20,000 plus.

Desired Outcome

We want ALL money refunded PLUS $20,000.00 for cost of the lost/stolen furniture, which also includes all the time and effort that has to be used to track these very shady characters down.

Honest True Moving & Storage Service Response

You hired crooks. The broker you hired had horrible reputation. The guy they sold to is member of Israeli mafia and is bad news. They run there business like organized crime and if anyone knows the industry and who runs the underworld of it that still exists it's them. The moving company that bought the job off of the broker did the pick up jacked up your price and then put the job on the load board pain very cheap for it to be delivered well we experimented this year with picking up jobs for a backhauls off of the load board and needless to say we won't be doing that again . This job was picked up in a self storage unit ran by these total crocs with your stuff mixed in with all these other people stuff . I can't take responsibility for that and neither can my insurance company . You need to go to the source

Customer Response

I am not satisfied with the response and think and feel that Honest & True Moving Crew failed to take responsibility for the items they were hired to move for me and my family. I personally do not care that they were the "transfer" movers. Honest & True Moving Crew became liable for the furniture upon receipt of said items. There was a complete breakdown of chain-of-custody between the original moving company and Honest & True Moving Crew. (By the way...they need to change their name as they sure do not honor their name...nothing honest or true about these individuals!) Also, let me state that no one seems to hold any of these involved parties liable and responsible. Seems like the interstate laws for the moving companies covers all their ploys to steal and scam individuals who entrust them to move personal belongings.

The guy you hired has ties to all kinds of crime and you want us to pay you $20,000 because we picked up a load off a load board? For the record we never received not a single dime from you or the shady company you hired. My company was built on word of mouth no advertising at all so you are just plain wrong. Sometimes I feel like Trump, I just can't keep my mouth shut when people spew lies about you over the internet. Good luck to you

We hired Honest and True Moving Crew, LLC to help us with our move from Chicago(IL) to Torrance(CA). From the first call we made for the cost estimate and the Moving Crew: Alan, James; everyone treated us so kindly and were very professional. On the morning of the move, the Moving Crew arrived on time and were very careful in loading the furniture and other stuff. They were very helpful during our entire move and made us feel at ease. The delivery was made within the promised time frame. We received the items in same condition as they were sent. We will recommend Honest and True Moving Crew LLC to everyone who is planning to move. Thank you!!

Failed to handle 2 moves which were quoted by this company then refused to cover costs as I had to use another mover
Received a quote $1600-2000 for move from *** to ***. Called a week before scheduled move date of May 22. Advised semi trucks not allowed in complex. Spoke to Allen and Ronnie regarding issue. Told both were fired. Spoke to Joe he is the owner and he said there was nothing he could do. Would not even do the right thing and cover our costs for his employees mucking things up. Everything was set with may 22 move for my complex and new location. All Joe would do is triple the deposit back and call movers he knows in texas but would not cover costs of move from *** to ***.

Desired Outcome

To have the owner compensate by covering costs of move from *** to

Honest True Moving & Storage Service Response

Yes, our office provided a QUOTE to this individual. This was a QUOTE ONLY...Unfortunately the dates they required to move, we could not accommadate as we had no units in the area and the fact that Tractor/Trailer's where not allowed in her development and because of this - there would have been the need for a smaller truck to pick up the shipment, then transfer to the trailer. We gave her ample notice that we were unable to accommadate the move. We are under NO obligation to compensate this individual for any other expenses incurred because of this. We quickly refunded her her deposit. She was bound to have moving expenses, whether it be with our company or with another company. Our rate was inexpensive and I believe that is what they were looking at as a cost effective relocation.

In responding to you I am also informing the general public but before I do let me say I feel terrible about what has happened to you. First of all you hired a moving broker. EZ Moving is a broker. When you gave deposits and they ran credit cards it was with them and the company they sold your job to. The moving company that picked you up is the company that was contracted through your broker. You never paid us anything. I was extremely cooperative with your attorney. We picked up several shipments from the company that was hired by the broker which you hired. Upon arrival at your destination there were only 4 chairs. We picked it up from a self storage (by the way) with other shipments mixed in. The reason why we pick up from these companies in the first place is because its the difference between coming home (to Florida) empty or picking up some revenue. All companies that run tractor trailers do this. Ive picked up shipments before that are supposed to be headed for FL and when we arrive (oops this is Arizona we gave you the wrong one) not our fault. You contracted with a broker who gave the job to another mover who then attempted to give the job to us. When we book jobs our guys pick it up and our guys deliver and no other company becomes involved at all. You hired the Mafia of the industry (brokers and shady movers). Think about it the broker gets paid for doing nothing but telling you lies and making false promises (how can they make promises when their not even doing the job???) Then the other mover gets big money for simply picking up your shipment and putting it in self storage. Then we get a small fraction for bringing it where it needs to go. With all do respect you have a major lesson to learn in this. To the general public never hire a broker. Also understand that brokers go under names like EZ Moving and will not reveal that they are a broker. Never go to google for your mover. Get a referral from a family member, friend or co-worker. Also if you plug your information online and within minutes your being bombarded with phone calls and emails with companies trying to get your business thats them (The Mafia). I call them the mafia because they literally rip off every customer in an organized way and get away with it. Not even the D.O.T can stop them. Warning (I'M about to be very bold but I'm speaking the truth) Foreigners have invaded this industry and are ripping off the American People in an organized way. I for one am spreading the word to everyone because this should not be allowed and honest companies should not have to compete with these mafia like companies. Why do I pick up back hauls from them you ask??? Because we are the best thing to happen to these people on their move. At least with us we are honest and do a good job most trailer companies in this network are not. So now your dealing with another horrible lying cheating company on top of the broker and on top of their lousy movers they hire. I did everything I could to help you and gave your lawyer respect and cooperation. Legally we have nothing to do with this and morally we did everything we possibly could do to help. We did not receive a dime of your money and have no contract or agreement with you. Again I feel horrible for your situation.

One more thing. The reason these mafia companies have any work at all is because of their schemes on the internet. No one and I mean no one ever gives them repeat business or refers them. Its all internet and brokers. Consumer Beware

This company refuses to reimburse me for the $2,709. that they lost, stole and/or damaged in my move with them.
First of all, this company is owned and operated by an ***:
***
This information was not disclosed prior to my hiring of them to handle my valuables and personal belongings.

I may not have minded if the entire situation wasn't handled like a well-polished con game, but it was.

Rather than ask for photos and/or specs before citing a quote, Ronald R., the dispatcher congenially gave me a lower quote than any of the competition. I specify 'congenially' because it was Mr. R.'s tone that gained my trust and went a long way in my decision making process. This congenial tone proved to be part of the con and in the ensuing 4 week long debacle with this company, was never heard again.

***, the owner and one other mover arrived 2 hours late. *** looked at my (already packed) belongings and raised the originally quoted price $850. In order to continue, (and what choice did I have at this point?), he demanded a $900. cash deposit.

After giving *** the $900. deposit, he left leaving the other guy to do all the furniture wrapping by himself.

When *** left, he also left his 18 wheeler parked on my narrow Brooklyn street blocking the driveways to 2 high rises. The other mover didn't know how to drive the truck, so when a neighbor complained, the mover went out and threatened the guy within an inch of his life. The mover then came upstairs and started hinting for his tip.

After 4 phone calls to the "congenial dispatcher", another mover was finally sent over to help. This guy helped by dragging my antique hutch down the stairs by himself instead of waiting for assistance resulting in damages of $564.

When finally *** returned (6 hours later) to have me sign the paper work, he told me that I needn't purchase more insurance. That the company was adequately insured.

I was told by the congenial dispatcher in our initial conversation that my belongings would arrive 5-7 days after they were picked up. I made my move out and flight arrangements accordingly.

Once the moving van left my building, the well-polished con game swung into full gear. My belongings did not arrive in 5 OR 7 days. Every time I called to get information, I was either given a different date and/or location even of where my stuff was. I was getting frantic.

When finally the truck did arrive, the driver brought in one piece of furniture and told me that if I wanted the rest that I would have to pay my balance in full.

This compounded my suspicions of anticipated loss/damages and did not seem like an intelligent thing to do, so I called the police. They unfortunately, could do nothing as it was considered a civil dispute.

Three boxes of my belongings and a large, industrial fan were missing. Two pieces of furniture were badly damaged and require repair. One of my mattresses had somehow lost the "protective" plastic cover and the plastic covering on the other mattress/boxsprings were ripped.

The insurance company required a detailed, hand written itemized list accompanied with photos and links of the missing items as well as estimates of damages. All of this information was disregarded and they made their assessment based only on the weight of the boxes lost - a grand total of $120.00.

I sent an email to *** saying that if I was not fairly compensated that I would open a legal investigation into his business practices. I also posted a review on YELP.

*** responded to the review and finally offered to reimburse me $500. for the $2,709. I told him that the least I would settle for is $2,500. I consider this amount to be more than fair given the emotional distress and time endured which I did NOT charge for.

I have not heard from Mr. P.

I am currently investigating the legalities of transparency regarding the disclosure of criminal history where a person's valuables are at risk.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking reimbursement in the loss and damages incurred by me from the negligence of Honest and True Moving Crew in the amount of $2,709.

Honest True Moving & Storage Service Response

This individual had a claim which was turned over to the Insurance Company for further handling. They settled her based on the terms and conditions of her contract. What she is stating in this e-mail is a form of extortion. Further, this indidivual we had to call the State Police in NM and further we have had to issue a CEASE & DESIST. Please remove this post. Further people ARE NOT suppose to post personel things about people, for which she is doingh. This individual has posted on all and every website she can find. Again, she has been issued a CEASE & DESIST Order. We have nothing further to comment on this individual. Her claim was settled appropriately.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
My claim was not settled appropriately - $120.00 is not appropriate compensation for the monetary sum (excluding punitive) loss and damages I incurred in my move with Honest and True Moving Crew.

When I asked for additional insurance coverage in the amount of 5K on the day of my move, the owner of Honest and True Moving Crew, ***, looked me in the eye and said, "You don't need that." He proceeded to tell me that the company had coverage which puts him in violation of code 814.1 (c) of the DOT. I have found numerous other violations as well.

Regarding calls to the state police, this was a choice, not a need. Given the nature, attitude and actions of every individual I encountered in this moving experience, I actually welcomed the visit from the police as I feared criminal retribution from Honest and True Moving Crew as opposed to legal. As such, I contacted the Sandoval County police to apprise them of the situation so that if anything should happen to me, they would know where to start looking.

The criminal element of this company was prevalent throughout my entire moving experience which is what prompted my internet search on the owner. It came as no surprise to find that the owner has a criminal history.

Regarding extortion, as I clearly stated in all of my reviews, I was given a quote over the phone for my moving costs. No pictures or specs were required and a price was locked in. When the owner/mover arrived, he immediately raised the price $750. more than I had been quoted on the phone. I had no choice but to comply as my move out date and flight arrangements had already been made. The owner demanded $900. cash in order to move forward. THIS is CLEARLY a 'form of extortion'.

Additionally, as earlier stated, when my belongings finally arrived (a week late) at my new home, the driver brought inside a table top and told me that if I wanted the rest, I would have to pay my balance in full. I called 911 and reported a robbery. I knew that if there was nothing to hide that the guy would have unloaded my belongings, gotten the balance owed and been on his way. There was certainly nothing in my previous payment history with this company to indicate otherwise.

This driver's actions are also indicative of a 'form of extortion'. Extortion is NOT, however, exemplified by a person seeking proper compensation for having their valuables lost and destroyed.

Regarding the cease and desist letter, this was clearly another case builder for the file. I am within every right to post my experience on review sites. This is why review sites exist.

Furthermore, when the owner saw my Yelp review and called to try and 'make amends', (offer me $300. for my loss and damages), the very first thing he said was, "I remember that day clearly and you described it perfectly." So, where exactly are the false statements I am being accused of?
