I had a mold problem in my basement recently and after remediation I called Indy air care to clean and mold fog my ductwork. I had used them 8 years before for cleaning, mold/germ fogging, and U.V. lights to maintain/kill mold etc. and they did a fair job. So I thought. This time, when technicians Nick and Jay arrived and did their inspection they discovered the $1000 U.V. lights had never actually been installed, and that my frequent changing of filters had keep my supply lines extremely clean for 8 years, they simply did not need to be cleaned. It was disappointed to put it mildly to hear that the U.V. lights had been not been installed or "overlooked" somehow 8 years previous, there had been other issues back then with the ductwork or other items e.g. electrostatic furnace filter, long story short this job carried over a period of two weeks. The lights were supposed to be installed at a later date, turns out I had an extremely urgent health issue, a stroke. During that time period a lot of changes were taking place within the company. They had gotten a bad rating and in fixing their issues had to let some employees go and some others left on their own. Anyway the people I dealt with were no longer there. Again long story short, Nick called his supervisor and the whole situation was resolved within about 30 minutes. I received a call from Michelle saying if the appt. time was o.k. they would be around in a week to install the U.V. lights. I was so disappointed with the "old Indy air" and so very, very pleased with the whole "new Indy air care" family they were all so courteous and helpful and above all fair and HONEST. Don't know what happened. Since that time we have offered to secure the parts in question from Goodman, the manufacture to assist him in this matter. If you need a copy of the original papework we can scan it and forwarded it to you, if there's any doubt as to what it says.

Their ad said $39.95. They would not clean my vents for less than over $300. I said, "just do what your ad says, no more, no less." They would not. Their false ad is just to get them in your door. The new ad says $44.95. They are just not telling the truth. Sorry, wish I could get my 10 vents, return and supply trunk cleaned like their ad says.

Don't fall for their coupon ad. They will show up at your house and give you a quote of hundreds of dollars more than the coupon stated. (In my case it was $800.00) I should have refused to let them work, but I really needed to get it done, because the person who lived in my house before me was a cat lady and my family is allergic. I called the company, to complain and the person who answered the phone couldn't help me and said she would pass the complaint on to customer service. Do not use this company! I wish I had read the reviews before I made a appointment.

It was discovered that technician failed to represent the functionally of the cleaning machine in its true capabilties. It...

that technician failed to explain to the additional reasons for the system not being cleaned. The main point of concern was that
some of the floor boots were not connected properly and this would have caused the duct work to come apart and become extremely
difficult to reassemble under the house. Customer is personally aware of at least one in this dicsussion.  In addition other portions of the
ventilation were in such a condition that structural failure could take place during the cleaning process.  Indy Air Care would agree to
reclean the vent  system if a waiver was signed by customer, stating that Indy Air Care would be be responsible if system came apart
during the cleaning process.  The customer has been very busy and has been unable to respond back to us. We have talked to her
a couple of times, but she was not able to give us a response to our offer.  The matter of extra cost for biocides needed, was never
discussed. No prices or cost was never discussed regarding this matter. We are confused as to why this was a concern, when nothing
was ever quoted to discussed. This message is issued now in order to comply with your response time requirements.

Saw their coupon and called to schedule an appointment. They explained the coupon would go from $45 to $60 because we had an extra cold air return. They show up today for the appointment and the price is $199. They said the coupon was for vent cleaning rather than duct cleaning -- even though the coupon says "14 vents, 1 return AND A MAIN TRUNK LINE". There are a lot of companies out there that do this. Might as well work with one that is honest.

In February we called Indy Air Care to clean our ducts. Our basement had flooded and mold had started growing. They said they did this kind of work. They tore out all the drywall and took up the flooring. They did a horrible job on the drywall and installed a carpet not even near what we had picked out. The man that started the job quit working for the company so they sent out another man to take over he took out the carped and had the walls redone. He also nocticed there was mold in the crawl space and it had gone under the upstairs bathroom and kitchen sink area. Due to a structural default he called in a Structual Engineer. Indy Air has never put in the caroet downstairs. The man working on the job now stopped working for Indy Air because they weren't paying him. The Structural Engineer has taken over the job and theings are starting to move along now after almot 7 months. The men working on the job now set up a meeting with Indy Air to get the materials they needed to complete the job. When they got to the office everything had been moved out. The Industrial Engineer said we had over paid Indy Air and he was going to try to get some of our money back. That looks impossible now. The two men working the job now have promised they will finish the job and apologized for what had been doe to us by Indy Air. They have an advertisement in the weekly ads and the $54.95 job turned in to a $70,000 job. We feel good about the men doing the job now, but don't want this to happen to others. We are now broke and would have loved to have gotten some of the money back!!! Hoe you can find them and revoke their license in Indiana!!

There is no proposed action in this response. The "requested" $2000 refund is entirely separate from this complaint because it was a duplicate charge that should have been refunded when the second $2000 charge cleared - instead, we called and were eventually directed to someone named [redacted]. This person only recently attempted to reach us this week (from a phone number not listed on any of Indy Air Care's contact information), and these attempted contacts were concentrated within little more than a 36 hour time span, the first of which was well after typical business hours. When we were able to call this evening and finally speak with [redacted], he was getting ready to meet friends and could not discuss the matter at that time. It is also curious that all contact attempts made by Indy Air Care were made to one of our phones, on a number that never even appears on the Revdex.com complaint as filed (or on the work order(s)); if efforts had actually been made to call the number we provided, we would have been more able to discuss the matter at that time - which is why we gave that number in the first place. 
In our minds, the complaint filed with Revdex.com is entirely about the final $3000 bill; the additional $2000 duplicate charge is a matter of poor bookkeeping, but if you would like to also address this here, we will certainly oblige. When we initially called about this duplicate charge, [redacted] answered the local number and was unable to help us, but said he would forward our concern to the relevant party, who would "get back with us". Wanting a more immediate resolution to this overdue refund, we called the 800 number listed on the work order for customer service. We were asked to hold, and when the woman who answered came back, she asked if we had just talked to [redacted] about this. She then gave the same response that "someone would get back to us" but we insisted on speaking with someone who could help us. At this point, we were finally connected to a person named [redacted], who asked for the credit card number to issue the refund, and were told it would take 3-5 business days. This money did post to the account - on August 18 - so as far as we are concerned, that matter is closed. 
Our complaint with the $3000 final bill, however, is still unresolved: it is concerned with the services which Indy Air Care claims to have performed, and are completely independent of the $2000 duplicate charge. The bulk of our initial complaint dealt with this matter, not the duplicate charge, and it is unclear to us how there is any confusion regarding the information we included in our initial complaint, or how it could not pertain to our circumstances.

I have a year old, 2 story home. I was aware that I must have had debris present in my ducts as I could see dust on and around the outside of the vents. I saw Indy Air Care's $39 special that included 10 vents and 1 return. I scheduled for a service. Two gentlemen arrived at my home. The fist service tech got straight to inspecting vents, ducts, and furnace. The other gentleman started bringing in tools needed to complete the cleaning and got started immediately. Within 5 mins of being in our home I was presented a quote for $864.00. I was told I had mold, a clogged coil, and extremely dirty ducts that contained construction debris. I do not doubt that some construction debris/dust was present within the ducts. This is after all the reason I called to schedule a cleaning. I immediately told him there was NO way that all this was happening and asked the cost of treatment of so said mold and cleaning of ducts (which ended up being an additional charge as I have 16 vents and 2 returns). It was amazing to me that just the cleaning of the ducts went from $39.00 to $264.00 and then the mold treatment was another $270.00. Again told them no way. I then asked to see the mold, but by this point the other gentleman had already completed cleaning all vents. No more mold was visible as it was all blown away. Then the gentleman called his manager. The price went from $864 to 599. Still this was to much. Then some how for the cleaning of the vents and only 1 return plus mold spray it went from $534-299. I have two boys, one with special needs and the other who happened to be home sick that day. Of course the service/salesman played the health card and even though I never saw any mold and no mold spore test was ever completed I had my ducts sprayed. Here are a couple of things that are really bothering me after everything was said and done. One, the two gentleman that came to my home, only one actually did any service. The other one was to keep me occupied and sell me on services I am sure I did not need. Not once did he complete anything. Two, the other gentleman had already completed all the vents and racked up a charge of at least $150.00 (this is less than the 264.00 because only one return was done) before I had authorized ANYTHING. Third, it was amazing that when I asked to see proof of the mold, it was already gone. When my husband called to speak with the manager he given the brush of, our complaints were not in any way taken seriously and were told what a great DEAL we got. I feel this company has a game that is played very well. We will never use or recommend this company and feel that I particularly was greatly taken advantage of which hurts even more during the holidays.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I've had 2 separate companies come out and they both said the install was shotty and that the unit was way undersized for my house, which I expressed when they were installing the unit, To which they replied that the newer units were more energy efficient.  Also Dan C[redacted] told me they didn't have any of my paperwork when I called to get this taken care of, now all of the sudden they have my old paperwork? And I am sure the guy in communication is the guy that told me he doesn't work for them yet he does. they have lied to me on numerous occasions, and they were going to charge me $1200 now they are offering to do it for less than half that? the 2 separate companies said they wouldn't touch it because of the poor install and because of the unit being severally undersized. Even the indy air care tech said that there would more likely be other issues after they fix the part that is bad, and there would be no guarantee that the fix would solve my issues. I would really like a return on some of the money I spent which was $3000 having this air duct cleaning company install a heating and air conditioning unit, which is something you have to be certified to do and they somehow found a way around it. I am having to have a completely new heating and air unit put in in the next week or two just so my family won't freeze because like I said I could be out $500 and the problem still not be fixed. I would rather pay a reputable company that knows what they are doing and has a good track record of taking care of their customers and isn't proven liars and scammers like indy air care is!

What I said in m complaint was true. Within 3 seconds of the guys going down to basement they came back up and [redacted] stated "We have a big problem." He stated I had mold. I went down there to look and did not think the one small spot he pointed to was mold but soot/dirt. There was no price quoted because I did not agree with him, only asked are you saying that you can't do it If I don't want the mold treated? He said "NO that's not why;!" I can't do it, the vacuum we use has to be upright at all times and since he had to lower his head on the last step to step into the basement he would not be able to keep the vacuum upright.  When they left it was lying on its side in the truck and that made me mad. The company in their response had a fancy way of saying that he lied to me! That is what mad me mad. If it was for all these structural reasons then that is what I should have been told. Not lied to. I was expecting them to say I had mold and needed treatment, 1 becasue the sale add stated mold treatment and removal available and because of the other complaints that they already had. The gentleman from the company [redacted] even said he lied to me.
When [redacted] called he told me then about the alledged structural damage and there is one small vent that is loose from the floor. I told him I would have it checked out but unfortunally my father became very ill as I told [redacted] the second time he called me to see if I had checked the structural issues and have not been able to check it so I have not called him back. He offered to give me the $45 to apply to another company doing it or sign this contract freeing them of obligation of damage. I still have not been able to get that checked. I'm a 100% Disabled American Vet and need someone to check it all out for me since [redacted] said [redacted] stated it was more than just one vent loosed it was the entired duct system and I'm not physically capable of crawling in and out of the crawl space, as well as spending time at my parents house with my father and my mother who has brest cancer as well.
So to this end, I will take the orignal offer of the $45 which I will use to pay someone to go into the crawl space and check out the entire duct system and vents since this was his workers answer as to why he lied to me. I will not work with a dishonest company.

Horrible experience. To begin with they were very late. Were supposed to show up between 8-10 and called at 10 to say they were still going to be 45+ minutes. However, that is something I can forgive and not that big of a deal. When the gentlemen showed up they were very kind and courteous. They took a look around and got started right away. About half way through one of the men came to me and ask to see my coupon. I had one for $49.95 that was supposed to get me 14 vents cleaned. He took it and came back a while later with what looked to me to be an invoice. He started going through the services they were doing and got to the end where he told me the total would be $512.75. I refused and told him he could stop working right now because I was never told this would be the cost. All of the sudden what was at first my bill became just my "estimate" and he would go talk to his boss about what could be done. We are now about 2 hours into the job. He came back and told me his boss said they could clean and sanitize all my vents for $108 and did I know what a great deal that was. I again said no, I would like to pay what I was told I would be paying which was $49.95. I should mention that I told the person on the phone when I scheduled my appointment about the coupon. He went to talk to his boss and all of the sudden my price was $49.95. This is where it went downhill. Since I wasn't going to be paying what they wanted they got lazy. They sat outside to smoke for about 25 minutes. Got dirt all over my walls, bedroom and bathroom. And pried off all of the vents on my walls. This caused big holes and strips of drywall to fall off. I live in an old house and I recognize the vents are hard to get off, but don't pry them off then. Talk to me about it. They also destroyed my bathroom vent, which wasn't even a vent. So they accidentally took off a vent and caused major holes to form for something they didn't even need to clean. They should know the difference between a vent and a fan at this point. I have had to spend my time and money to repair all of the walls and damage done.

resolution. As per Mr. [redacted]'s request last week, he wanted his
Fathers credit card credited $2,000. That was
done immediately. This is money
he borrowed until he could get his own
credit presented. This letter is an interim response, so that we
comply to your time constraints. We do not
want any impression that we won't
cooperate in resolving any issues
presented.

Customer Service dept  spoke to consumer. After discussing the circumstances, it was agreed that the bill for services rendered
would be reduced to the agreed upon amount of $200.00. Customer is sending check.

I had a very negative experience with IAC company recently. I received a coupon in the mail for air ducts cleaning and decided to use it. [redacted]. showed up with a young inexperienced guy who was doing all the job while [redacted] was only talking. He said that I had a bad mold problem in my heating/cooling system. He said that the mold would be all the way through the ducts. He strongly recommended that the whole house be treated for mold immediately. He then proceeded to write a bogus estimate for $1,696.96 and required the full payment right then and there. [redacted] put a lot of pressure on me trying to convince me to let them start the job at once. I got very upset about the way I was treated. When I refused their offer, they left abruptly, even before they finished the job. There was no improvement in the air quality in my home afterwards. All they did was to stir up dust in the return and air ducts. In addition to poor service, [redacted] also harassed me with with his numerous phone calls wanting to change the time of the appointment. He just wouldn't take "no" for the answer. Eventually, they came and parked in my driveway a few hours before the appointed time. All in all, [redacted] exhibited very unprofessional behavior.

"Indy air Care would agree to reclean the vent system if a waiver was signed by customer, stating that Indy Air Care would be responsible"  should read "NOT be responsible"  if system came apart during the cleaning process.  this was typographical error.
