Indy Air Care Reviews (46)

Dear Ms [redacted]:This letter is in response to your complaint to the local Revdex.com. In reviewing our previous conversations I remind you of the following:In your letter to Revdex.com to state that the technicianfailed to tell you that there was a "hole" in your dryer vent system. The...

fact is, there wasno hole in your system to report to you.Your language would indicate a hole permittedbirds to enter into your home. When our technician was there cleaning your dryer vent, he notified you that the exhaust vent coverthat terminates to the outside of your housewas damaged due to years of sun exposureto the plastic louvers. You in turn went  to the hardware store an purchased, what you thought would be the remedy to replace the damaged exhaust cap. Our technician explained to you that is was the wrong piece. He also explained to you that the damaged louvers, would not last long. That's why youwent right away.      So the reality is that our technician didn'tfail to tell you about a hole (the exhaust cap)in your system, there wasn't one, but the exhaust to the outside is the only hole there was to talk about. He did nothing wrong. He made you aware of the real problem.     In addition to your story of birds getting into your home through the dryer vent, there is another mystery. Since the dryer hose is connected to the dryer, how could birds openthe dryer door and escape into your home?We clean hundreds of homes with birds in the dryer vents, but never once has a birdever made it to the dryer, or escaped out of the dryer into their home.     Therefore this is our official response to your questionable claim. We did nothing wrong. Customer RelationsStephanie [redacted]Indy Air Care

Stay away from this company! Not only do they use bait and switch tactics to sell their services, they make a huge mess in your home and then do nothing to clean it up. I just had Indy Air Care in to provide an estimate for duct cleaning. They were running a $39.95 special so I looked at their website and decided to give them a try. They came to my home and looked at my duct system and provided an estimate of $569.00 just to clean the ducts. I obviously told them I was not interested and they left. They had written a estimate but would not leave it with me. After they were gone, I found that when they inspected the attic space above the bedrooms (access is in a walk-in closet) they didn't cover anything. All of our clothes, shoes and shelves are completely covered in insulation. My wife and I have spent the last 4 hours vacuuming and removing, one piece at a time, the clothes from our closet. We are still only half finished. Most everything will have to be laundered before it can be worn since it is fiberglass and even with vacuuming, doesn't come off. How could a reputable company not take precautions and cover items like clothes before entering into an insulation filled attic? I have two attic spaces in my home, one with access through the garage and one with access through the walk-in closet. They were in the garage attic first so they knew full well the amount of insulation in our attic but yet they still went into the closet space without taking any precautions for falling insulation. What a mess! Not only is this a bait and switch operation with the pricing of their services, they are careless and inconsiderate. I suggest you look elsewhere for duct cleaning services.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]The following is the most recent email sent to the respondent...Don,We have had 5 phone calls back and forth and nothing has been resolved.  You told me weeks ago that your men do not do additional service without prior signed consent.  I asked to see a copy of this signed consent form and you still have not produced it.  You also offered to send out someone to inspect with a camera the supposed cleaning job, and have made no attempt at that either.  If I don't hear from you by noon today, I am reporting again to the Revdex.com and will be contacting my attorney. Have a great day. [redacted]

I am confused as to what your issue is. Phone calls and phone numbers and who spoke to whom seems to be minutia when the main issue is the moneys you feel are due to you. We have clearly made every effort to respond to your demands regarding rectifying any shortcomings of the work you claimed was a failure or lack of completion. Below is a breakdown of all moneys collected and moneys refunded. The total of $5000 collected in which $2000 was borrowed from your father and we refunded to him as agreed upon on August 18, 2014. The balance of $3000 was the amount of the invoice for services to be rendered. As per your demand, the amount of $2475 has been refunded back to you as listed below. Therefore it is considered by Indy Air Care LLC that this case is closed and that we,Indy Air Care LLC, have made a full fledged effort to appease you in this matter. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I
To whom it may concern:
First and foremost, it is very hard to take Indy Air Care seriously as a reputable company when I am getting responses to my complaint from an unprofessional email address and I am not even left with a name of a contact person.
Second, you claim that your service technicians have over 15 years of combined work experience and have served hundreds of satisfied customers, yet they show up to my house in an unmarked mini-van and lack the professionalism you would expect from someone coming into your home.   What certifications do they have in order for you to be able to claim they have a "breadth of knowledge of mold and its characteristics"?
The conversations that you claim were had between my friend, myself and the technician are not being told to you  in the right context. I never told him that I was not feeling well enough to go into the next room, I was perfectly healthy at the time of the Indy Air Care visit, but I have been to see my physician 2 times since your visit for respiratory issues.   He stated that he would take a picture and show me.  As I have stated in my complaint, he did in fact show me a picture of an air duct (it could have been any photo)  that was filled with dirt, no mold.  He began to tell me it was mainly dirt and dry-wall from when they built the house.
The conversation he was referring to between my friend and I, was the air return and how dirty the vent and air duct was. which we were aware of, which was the entire reason we had someone come out to clean the air ducts.
In addition, I find it funny that you pick and chose what you want me to believe from the EPA website in reference to having my air ducts cleaned.  You have dismissed everything that they have said on the subject, except what they believe that the average price for  an air duct cleaning is. However that is not the average amount for Indianapolis.  What I have found is that you promise it will be $44.95, but you have charged people from $125 to $1200, and there have been several complaints.
What I have "found it in my heart to do" is take the average of the 3 estimates I have received and pay you that amount.   My friend paid Indy Air Care $125, $99 for the duct cleaning and $25 to clean the coil.  Her house is the exact same style and size as mine.  Then I also got 2 other estimates for $150 and $193.   The average of those three is $156.
I will gladly send you a check for that amount today ($156) to resolve this issue, which is considerably more than the $44.95 your company promises it to be.  Please send me an address for the payment to be sent.  I would use the one on your website, but the Revdex.com has an alert on your company and claims there is no business at that address.
-Sincerely,
[redacted]
Dear [redacted]

We are sorry to hear about your unfavorable experience with
work done at your home 8 March 2014.
The technicians there have a combined work experience of
15 years and hundreds of  satisfied customers.
They both have a breadth of knowledge of mold and its characteristics. In all disciplines of mold identification  the first rule is visual identification. They have seen hundreds of
mold growth situations and know the difference between
mold and dirt. The technician offered to show you in person in the next room, the mold. He took a photo and showed you
since you weren't feeling well enough  to go to the other room.
Your friend also saw the photo and expressed is was "gross"
and said "I told you so".
As for the use of biocides, we use only products that have
been tested by the EPA  for use in ventilation systems.
As with many other household products, they can become
an irritant to one's respiratory system. We are sorry for
the imposition.  Since you were unconvinced because of
their use, it would be appropriate to remove those charges from your invoice.  As for the remaining of the cleaning portion
those charges would still stand.  If you checked with the EPA
you would discover the  typical charge for cleaning a typical home, the charges are anywhere from $450. to $1000. with no
extras.
As it stands  right now, you have stopped payment on your check. We have been paid nothing as of now.  We will wait for your three estimates from other companies, and  will await
your findings and hope your heart will do the right thing.
