In May a tree fell on my home and caused exterior as well as interior damage. I chose J & K Home Improvement and Restoration because of the attention to detail Joe Kim presented in his first overview of my damages. Once the work started, Joe oversaw the replacement of my home’s roof, siding, fascia, new gutters and personally monitored the repair of the interior damage as well as the painting. J & K Home Improvement and its crews were professional, courteous, and extremely attentive to details. I have had many people work on my home, but I rank this group the best.

We have used J&K Home Improvement & Restoration a few years ago for our roof & our experience and satisfaction was awesome. This year we went w/them again for our siding & gutters and we were equally pleased with Joe Kim, the person whom we dealt with. Joe was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable and we valued him as well as the wonderful team who worked on our home. What stood out about this company was that their contract is simple; our many calls were always received and returned immediately, and comforting to know how long Joe [redacted], crew & the company have been in business. The turn-around time on quotes and quote adjustments by our sales rep, Joe [redacted], was so much faster and accurate than we expected. The scheduled date for work to begin was accurate, despite a number of weather problems that we expected to impact our start date. Representatives from the crew arrived days in advance to measure and confirm materials, and they were all extremely professional and helpful in sharing their measurements and information with us.
When Day 1 of the actual work was to begin, the crew was outside on the street, waiting for the cue to begin. The materials ordered were being delivered, and they helped the supplier unload and place them. For our small ranch on a slab, there seemed to be a crew of 5-7 guys here every day, and they worked very hard from about 7:00am to 7:00pm. Don't expect them to go home early; that's not how this crew works. And Joe is not a sales rep who disappears once the crew arrives; he is present quite often throughout the day to make sure that you, the customer, is happy.
The workmanship was excellent. The siding itself was handled beautifully, as was the work around the eaves and fascia. The team determined that the windows that we had installed a few years ago needed some reframing, and this was done perfectly, at no additional cost.
We have been so extremely happy with this crew that we have provided our sales rep Joe [redacted] with SIX referrals for neighbors who asked about who did the work on our house. He was quick to respond to these referral leads, but not overbearing or pushy to our friends.
One final note -- the inspector from our local village code enforcement came by a few days after the job was complete. He was really impressed with the workmanship and cleanup job done by this company. That's a rare compliment!
Go ahead and do your due diligence in getting your comparison quotes. In the end, you will see that THIS company provides the best quality for one of the most competitive prices on the market.

J & K helped me on several occasions with minor repairs after wind or other damage to my roof left me in a difficult position with more storms coming - jobs too small for some places to even return my call, but their guys grabbed a ladder and a hammer and helped me out. Hard to put a price on that kind of service these days.

When it came time to do a full tear-off / reroof of my house and garage, they offered
prompt responses to phones calls, and showed up when they were scheduled, with a quick turn-around of the job. I've got a pretty big roof and a 4-car garage and the whole thing was done in a day!

Gave me a very fair price on the work proposed, and helped me with the insurance company to make sure all the bases were covered.

Didn't try to nickel and dime us, advised us on what we did, and did >not< need, and made sure the job was done right the first time.

These are one of the "good guys".

1) roof, went up in one day including cut outs for ridge vents
2) siding, we started with aluminum, looked at vinyl (insulated) & wound up with HardiBoard.]

Joe went the extra mile. No kidding. You don't realize how many samples we looked at prior to selecting Night Gray with arctic (white) trim accents.
&, finally the gutter installation. Half a day & the project is wrapped up.

In June we had major hail damage, roof, and siding on our 2,800 square foot home. We had never been through anything like this before, never filed a claim for damages, nothing... A friend & neighbor gave us information on J&K Home Improvement & Restoration and introduced me to John, our service writer. We could not be happier with John & his crew. John came out, gave us an estimate, explained what the insurance covered when the work would start, about how long it would take and what to expect. While we dealt with issue with the insurance company he gave us different options and listened while I asked a hundred questions and gave me great feedback.

Our house was done on time, no delays, and the work is exceptional. John was here every day making sure things were going as planned and making sure we were happy with the work. Joe inspected our home and met with us, explaining in great detail his estimate for roof repairs and siding replacement. He is extremely knowledgeable, and made us aware of all available options, offering his professional recommendations, as well as personal opinions.
Joe kept in contact with us every step of the way, personally assisting in many of the facets of our project. The installers were professional, friendly and did a good job cleaning up all debris.

After a hailstorm, our neighbor recommended J and K to take a look at our home. John came out to talk to us. He was fantasticanswered all of our questions and gave us feedback on things we never would have even thought of! He worked with our insurance adjuster and let us know exactly what work would be done and when. The installers were professional and cleaned up well. Our house looks brand new! Through the recommendation of my Home Owners Insurance I was given the names of several contractors, J & K by far was the company with the BEST reviews. I met with Joe [redacted] from J & K and he answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. We recently had a water leak from our dishwasher and it damaged my cabinets on one wall, the floor and the plasterboard. Everything had to be replaced. Come to find out that my Carmel stained cabinets were no longer available, so we had to start looking for new one. J&K worked with our insurance company on the replacement of the cabinets. I had to have all new cabinets, so I have a brand new kitchen from floor to ceiling. They were vey courteous, accommodating, responsive. Every time something was being done, the installer asked if it was done to our liking. I am very happy with the end results! They did a wonderful job and were very good about cleaning at the end of each day! In fact, one of my friends are looking to replace a counter in the kitchen and I am recommending this company to them.

J&K Home Improvement did a New Roof on 2 other family members homes, which were both Insurance claims. The family members raved about the completed job, and level of professionalism. When John came to our house for the estimate, he was prompt, professional, and very detailed with the estimate. (Ours was NOT an insurance claim, we paid for it.) We did have other estimates, and J&K was not the least expensive. But, for the quality product, and the transferable roof warranty to another owner within 10 yrs, and the recommendations of family members, that's what sold us! My husband is also a Journeyman Custom Trim Carpenter of 30 years, and has also had experience doing roofing in his younger days. So, when he too was impressed with Johns presentation, and the overall quality of finished product, that's when I knew 100% we made the right decision. And, if that wasn't enough, the neighbor behind us, also had other roof estimates. J&K again wasn't the least expensive, but she too also had J&K do her roof, and couldn't be happier. If you want cheap, there's many other companies out there. If you want a high quality roofing product, an established company, and complete professionalism from beginning to end, then we highly recommend J&K Home improvement. The entire roofing crew were prompt, very hard working, and did an excellent job cleaning up around the house. WE LOVE OUR NEW ROOF- it really adds class to our house appearance!

A BIT-O-HISTORY: I had my roof replaced once before on a different house by a [redacted]' and when a major storm hit our current home and [redacted]s' came knocking, I thought, 'Never Again, I'm going local.'
COMPANY/Steve: I live in Wauconda IL. and this company is based in Itasca. I almost didn't call because of the distance, I didn't think they'd come out to me, they did! The man I met was Steve. We sat down and he explained the process, the positives, negatives, pro's and con's of different products etc. He even gave me some insight into how the company got started and the work ethics of the owner. He must have realized I was a bit gun-shy when it came to my roof being replaced.
He didn't pressure my wife and I into a decision but did offer to guide us. Thanks Steve!
THE PROCESS: So colors were selected, type of shingle etc. and a date was scheduled. Material was onsite a day or two before the workers.
When the workers arrived they communicated well with me and each step that was taking place was communicated through Steve. We has some additional decking that needed to be replaced and I was informed before the decking was put in place. They put in a full days work, but finished in one day! Clean-up was very good too!
PAYMENT: Yes, of course we had a contract with J&K but what was really great was the explanation of the contract that helped us to remain at ease. Steve and I communicated via email regarding the work, satisfaction of the end result and payment.
SUMMARY: I loved working with this company. Finally, a company (or business) that cares about their product, reputation and customer satisfaction. I was blessed to have them come out to Wauconda. Thanks guys!

In early January of this year, a car ran into the side of my house. Mr. Joe [redacted] helped me every step of the way fighting the insurance companies, and making sure I received everything I was entitled to. It finally was resolved after 4 months, and Mr. [redacted] never gave up. Thanks to his hard work, my house looks like new!
