To whom it may concern:   On behalf of Kia of Irvine we would like to apologize for any confusion or inconvenience Mr [redacted] experienced  during his negotiation process. The dealership as a policy adds aftermarket alarms to all of our vehicles for insurance purposes and we do give the...

customer the option to purchase the alarm or to remove it. We have re-explained to our staff the importance of having this disclosed immediately to all customers before finalizing their paperwork. We appreciate Mr [redacted]’s input and we look forward to the possibility of still earning his business.   Sincerely,   [redacted]

we have purchased the vehicle back from the customer.

Review: I received an ad for a specific car at a specific price from Kia of Irvine. I called to make sure that the car was still available. I got there and the dealership stalled for quite some time then took me to a car whose battery was dead. However,I decided to buy the car. I asked what forms of payment they accepted. They said that they would take a credit card only up to a very small amount. The total price of the vehicle was well above that amount. I was told that I could write a check and they could verify the funds. That sounded fair to me. Then when I went to actually buy it by writing a verifiable check, they refused to do the transaction stating that they would not accept that type of check even though the funds were verifiable. I asked if they would accept a wire transfer and was told that they would. My bank was closed by then so I called my bank and Kia of Irvine the next morning and tried to set up the wire and make sure the car was still available. It was still available. The advertised Kia was a very good price and during that conversation the sale's person told me that the dealership was loosing $ on it. He told me that they ran the ad just to get people into the dealership. I asked for their wire transfer information and after about an hour, was told they would not accept a wire and they would provide no reason. Then I was told they would accept an out of state check. I asked the manager to email me that so I had it in writing this time and he absolutely refused. I called back to ask the owner to call me but they would not answer their phone. It rang for over two minutes before I hung up. Every way that I offered to pay for the car, the manager(s) at Kia of Irvine refused.Desired Settlement: 1st, I'd like the public to know of the dishonest practices of Kia of Irvine. 2nd, I'd like the car I was trying to purchase or a better one for the price it was originally advertised, minus a monetary amount that would represent the time that was spent by: four employees at my bank and me over the course of two days, and the time spent by 2 other people on this attempted purchase over the better part of one day. A settlement that would represent the previous or better would be acceptable.

Here is the bottom line, I paid for a DEI system. I didn't drive away with that system installed in my car, I had a KARR system the previous owner had installed. My car rolled out of my driveway and was stuck in neutral, and everything was locked up, this was 20 minutes after leaving the dealership. And the alarm tech that was sent out to fix my car verified it was the wrong system he was called out for to fix. He has photographs of the KARR installed on my vehicle. I paid for something I didn't receive.

I visit the website beforehand, see the used car I want to test drive at $19,999. I arrive at 9:50am, after I test drive the car, I am told they can knock the sticker price from $24,000 to $22,000. Weird right? I text this update to my mom. My mother called Kia of Irvine to ask about that specific car and that specific price, and when the sales consultant comes back to me, he tells me he can go to $19,999. GG mom's right?

Make sure your car can turn off and start back up before leaving the dealership.

[redacted]PSA[redacted]

Although Hyundai and Kia are well known for offering the best powertrain warranties in the industry -- 10 years or 100,000 miles -- these legendary warranties aren't transferable to a new owner. Fortunately, the warranty doesn't become completely invalid when a new owner buys the car; it just changes to 5 years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

They will talk as if 10year/100,000 is the manufacturer warranty for used cars still. It's not and it is ~$3,400 extra.

[redacted]PSA[redacted]

Make sure your car can turn off and start back up before leaving the dealership.

Everything is finalized by 1:30pm. I leave, drive home, and park the car in the driveway. At 2:15pm I want to drive my parents in my new car and I push the start button, put it in reverse and it just rolls out into the street almost hitting a passing car. WTF! The car is stuck sitting in neutral, in the street, and won't start. Call the sales guy who tells me "Let me call you back, probably the LoJack". 30 minutes later "OK give me your address and I'll come out to you". Immediately after that call I get a text saying "Sorry, XXXXXX sais that he isnt coming to you. I will be there in 31 minutes and getyou on your way." OK sure. He arrives at 3:50pm. Looks at my car and tells me oh they installed the wrong one in your car ..............................

and within a minute he disconnected it and it starts up just fine. There is no LoJack. Another lie from these people.

Turns out that the previous owner had installed an after market alarm system that Kia of Irvine felt was good enough. Charging me for an alarm that they didn't install. If I hadn't paid the $995 would they have uninstalled the alarm system? [redacted] scam. If my car didn't lock up was I ever going to receive the alarm that I paid for?

Review: On January 14, 2014 my father and I went to the dealership to try to purchase a SUV. My dad asked the salesman what is the lowest price his manager would give him the SUV for. Sticker Price was $21,988 the Manager offered $350 discount. My father said we offer him $20,000 and we will take it. The salesman went and told his manager if $20,000. Manager said "NO" so my dad gave the salesman his business card and told him to give us a called if he changed his mind. We left we were driving home already when we get a called. That the manager lowest price was $20,500. we said ok we will drive back. We drove back and here is the part where they tried to scam us!!! When we sat down they wanted us to take out a loan through them, we told them that I already had my approved check with my bank. they kept pushing us that they can give us a better APR. we said no, I should them the check and the instructions on what to do with the check. The salesman takes the paper work back to his Manager [redacted] and they talk for 20 min. Later comes back saying we need $1,500 down payment. I told them that why did we need a down payment when we are going to pay the whole car at once. They kept saying that with my check I had to do that, so I called my bank and explain what the dealership was asking and they told me NO I did not have to pay a down payment. They wound't sell my the car unless I gave them $1500 cash. I feel like they were trying to scam me with $1500. I also ask if we gave them the $1500 will that bring my car price down to $19,000. They Said NO, basically they wanted me to pay $20,500 plus taxes and fees and another $1500. I feel like this is stealing. They even laugh at us when we told them no it sounds like a scam. They were rude to us on the way out. I would like you to investigate if they are doing this to everyone that try to buy a car.Desired Settlement: I would like for you to investigate the Manager of the KIA of Irvine. I believe they are stealing money from customer. [redacted] if that's really his name, needs to get check out to see if he is doing the right thing. They wanted CASH too, That's the fishy part of this dealership. Wonder if they even report that to the taxes!!!

Review: Went to go see a car at this dealership brought a picture of the car vin# and stock# with the price and they changed the price upon walk in we showed them the price with the same date that we went in and they said they cant honor the price and they made a mistake I talked to the main sales manager and we said its not happening said he will file a report to cover the dealership just incase we complained I have the pictures of the car dates and times its a simple case of false advertising he said I know you have the proof that you found the car for this price and they an't going to honor it and the sales maneger said he was the highest in command and the boss and there was no other person to complain to but himDesired Settlement: To honor there prices there advertising

Review: Let me begin my story of why you should NEVER purchase a car from these scam artists.I found an ad on Kia of Irvine's website offing a Kia Optima for 0 down for $159 a month on a lease if you qualified with above average credit. I had to verify what they meant by ABOVE AVERAGE CREDIT. My husband called & made an appointment with [redacted] who confirmed the vehicle in the ad was available. We arrived on time & approached the door a gentleman asked if he could help us as he blocked the entry way.We explained we had an appointment with [redacted]. He said nothing, turned & started to just walk away. We were like, "So should we go inside?" He said to hang on. So for our scheduled appointment time, [redacted] was busy with other customers. It's like that line from Seinfeld. "Yes, you know how to take the reservation; you just don't know how to HOLD the reservation." He pawns us off on [redacted].He takes us over to the vehicle to test drive it. We thought it was ok, & after the test drive went inside with [redacted]. He explained he was new, but I am not sure why someone so "new" is allowed to approach customers without the appropriate training & knowledge of offers that the business share with their guests, but hey...who am I to question something of that nature when I am about to make a $25K lease or purchase? We sit down & I start asking [redacted] about numbers. He says, "My boss says fill this out." He proceeds to push a credit report in front of me. I say, "Look, I just want numbers." [redacted] says, "What do I have to do to get you in this car today." ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTIONS. I explain this is the first car we saw & we are going to look around. He tells me the car will probably not be there. We leave & I contact the dealership prior to closing at 8:45 PM. The car is still in stock & has not been sold. I call Sunday morning at 10:00 AM when the dealership opens & ask for [redacted] tells me he is not in. So, I ask to make an appointment with the most experienced guy they got & she sends me to [redacted]. We arrive at 11:30 AM. [redacted] is ready for us. I show [redacted] the ad & he dismisses it. "When did you sell it?" I ask. [redacted] says the ad came out on Thursday & the car was gone pretty fast. Really? Because I drove it about 12 hours ago & it was here when you closed last night. [redacted]'s numbers were not in our range at all. Additionally, for what we were getting in a vehicle, I could tell this wasn't something I was interested in. [redacted] said what he was offering was all he could do & my husband & I left. As we walk out, [redacted] walks by us. He came right outside all eager to help us. We asked him if the car in the ad was still available. He verifies that THE CAR IN THE AD IS AVAILABLE. So we just got lied to. We go back inside with [redacted]. I make him review all the rebates listed in the ad & verify that I qualify for them BEFORE I fill out the credit report. He assures me everything is fine as long as I have above a 700 credit score, which I do.He says,"The only one you don't qualify for is the military discount & that's only $400 so it will make your payment $7 more." I fill out the credit form; credit is great. I wait to get a copy of verification that they won't share my information with third parties;never got one. And then...it happens.[redacted] is in this other room with "his boss", whom I never met & other salesmen. He comes back & says, "Did you guys talk to [redacted]?" We say yes. He says, "Well my boss says to tell you that the prices [redacted] gave you are the best we can do."Well, your boss should grow a pair & talk to customers himself. We explain to [redacted] that [redacted] told us the car wasn't even available, which it was. [redacted] LIED. [redacted] goes back to the room, "My boss says to tell you that you don't qualify for one of the other rebates listed. It's a $1000 loyalty rebate. That is going to raise the payment $30 anyway."Really? Because the $400 military rebate would have added $7 to the payment, & I am no mathematician, but based on that figure a $1000 would only raise the payment to about $16. "I asked you BEFORE you ran my credit to verify that I qualified for all the rebates & you said the only one I didn't qualify for was the military rebate." [redacted] tells me, "I have been here a week so I am new & I told you that. Do you want me to go get my boss?" You should have done that about an hour ago kid. Additionally, if you don't know how to do your job, then you shouldn't be responsible for handling customer's personal information & credit information. I asked for the GM & he is not available. This is some SHADY stuff. You should NEVER run a business this way, especially when you are representing a brand. You got caught false advertising & lying to your customers OVER & OVER again. Save yourself a lot of headache. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP TO GET A CAR.Desired Settlement: I would like the public to know that these ads are being used as nothing but a bait and swtich tactic and that this dealership has no plan of ever honoring the prices in their online ads. Their sales team are liars, they take credit information and refuse to provide the form that indicates they will not share your information with 3rd parties. They lie about inventory.

Review: I purchased a used vehicle from Kia of Irvine in January, apon receiving my temparary tag I was told it was valid for 6 months. I was also told I would have my new registration and Ca plates within 45 to 60 days after my purchase. After about 3 months and no registration I contacted the dealership about 7 times in a 4 week period only to never get a call back from them. I called back one last time to get ahold of a sales associate who forwarded my issue to finance. I was sent an email stating there were issues with my registration and I would have them in 2 weeks. So after waiting three weeks and no registration I called back and again was told there was an issue with the paper work. I was not given a call to inform me or let me know anything was wrong nor that I would still b waiting. I took my temparary registration down to find out that it had expired and was not able to legally drive my vehicle due to circumstances I knew nothing about. This was an issue due to the fact that I moved to Az 3 weeks after purchasing the vehicle. After argueing with the finance department I spoke with a sales manager who didn't really help In any way. He told me there was nothing he could do and that I would have to wait. So again I am waiting two weeks for my plates with no vehicle to drive and can't get on base due to their own restrictions for vehicles. Not only could I not drive on base for work but couldn't drive the truck legally any where. I wait again two weeks keeping in contact with the sales manager only to be spoken to rudely. He finally tells me that my plates where mailed out and I should have them in another day. No phone call saying that the issue was taken care of nothing helping me out to rest assure the issue was handled. I couldn't believe the level of customer care I received from a big corporation like this with a military member. As of today I am without my plates 6 months after the purchase of the vehicle.Desired Settlement: I'm not sure if there are any legal issues here with a breach of contract since info not have my registration or plates. I personally don't want any hand outs from them, just more of an informational piece so that someone will fix for future clients. I am hurt and disgusted by the level of professionalism they showed towards an active duty military member. If I could go back and do it all over again I would never purchase a vehicle from them.

Review: I was sold a CPO vehicle from Kia of Irvine that was NOT correctly nor thoroughly inspected on October 16, 2015. I was also "over sold" from the original negotiated price ($18,400 OTD to $24,753.80) which I unfortunately failed to completey read all notations on the contract prior to signing. We can address this matter later. My main concern starts here. A few months after purchasing a Kia Optima 2012 Hybrid EX, I noticed that my rims and tires are completely different from the left and right side of the vehicle. The left side is equipped with 205/65/R16 (94H) and the right side is 215/55/R17 (93V). The dealership intentionally overcompensated the smaller rims with a larger tire size. This SAFETY concern of mine was brought to the dealership's attention, most specifically [redacted] (General Sales Manager) and [redacted] (individual who sold the vehicle to me) upon arrival to the dealership on Monday January 18, 2016 @ 12pm. Additionally, [redacted] did inform [redacted] (Service Manager) of the situation. I was told that Kia would replace the incorrect sized rims (16") for the corrected (17") rims and they would install new tires. Mind you, I spent 7.5 hours on my only day off this week to handle this situation. A few apologies and new tires is NOT a correction to the gross negligence and oversight to these safety issues and procedural mishaps from a "professional Top 10" Kia dealership. My safety and the safety of my passengers is now jeopardized due to the incompetence of this Kia dealerships negligence and due process to inspect and ensure that ALL vehicles they sell, pass all safety checks and standards. I am requesting a formal investigation regarding this Kia dealership's policy, procedures and standard of practice for all vehicle sales transactions and safety inspections, both new, used and CPO. Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

B[redacted]Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund for my purchase, including $5000 (down payment) and all applicable tax, service fees, additional warranty payments and security devices = $24,753.80

There is no monetary value you can place on the safety and security of yourself and the passengers of my vehicle, but everyday I enter this vehicle, I have to consider how my safety is now compromised due to this vehicle not meeting safety standards. If you can assist in compensating for "time and suffering" that would be greatly appreciated. I believe everyone's time is valuable as well as their safety. Thank you in advance for your professional assistance.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

we have purchased the vehicle back from the customer.

Review: Bought my 2011 Sonata from here 5 months ago - finally had to replace tires for the first time. Dealership never gave me the wheel lock key. Called and spoke with [redacted] (dealer GSM) seeking help. Rather than offering me any assistance, tells me that it was 5 months later, they didn't make money on the sale and had they known about the wheel lock key missing - would have added another $1,000 on to the price tag. All with a "tough luck" attitude. Concludes our conversation with: "this is not our problem".Desired Settlement: Seeking replacement wheel locks for all four tires.
