Review: I contacted the company to repair my alarm system around the first of Aug. The repair person they sent changed serveral parts and came to the conclusion that the main panel was bad. He stated he would have a representive contact me on prices to fix the issue. I waited two weeks, still paying monitoring charges on a system that is inop, and I had to call back. Another week passed an I called again to recieve some quotes that were outrageous. Still paying monitoring charges on a system that is inop. A few more weeks and I went in to cancel the monitoring since they had no sense of urgency to protect my family. My family had decided to move to CA at my duty station so I completed a cancellation recquest. Several days later the validity of the cancelation request was questioned. I feel this company does not care about protection and only the money that the preception of security provides.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of all business with this company. Refund for fture services already paid.

Re: ID #[redacted]

Dear **. [redacted],

Thank you for contacting us recently on your concerns about the service experience you had. Our company aims to consistently deliver a professional service to our customers and I would like to apologize for any misunderstandings.

You did provide military orders in order to cancel your account but they were dated 2009. In order to process your request we needed updated orders. On 9/4/13 I left a message on your answering machine explaining this. On 9/5/13 you emailed me the updated orders. I then thanked you for the information and advised you that I would be processing your cancellation request at that time.

Your account was cancelled on 9/5/13 and a refund request was processed for $60.00.

We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. My contact information is below if you have any other concerns in the future.

Sincerely,

RE: Select Security ~ Fraudulent Encounter

At this time, my husband ([redacted]) and I ([redacted]) would like to report a fraudulent encounter with one of Select Security's door to door sales representative.

We were sitting on our front porch at the above address in mid-afternoon; I believe on July 31 (this Is the date of the contract). When a male, dressed in casual clothing walked up; we could see him approaching through the glass door.

He knocked on the door,I, [redacted], opened the door and I spoke; he spoke back. He went on the say, he was here for the alarm system, to check on it. I asked, " Do you have ID"? He said, something to the effect; that he was just out to check up on things. I said, that usually I get a call first. He was then asked to have a seat on the porch with us. He asked a few questions about the system. We said, everything is alright; we went on to say that we were not interested in upgrading because we were not going to pay any more than what we are now paying; which is $44.99 a month. He said ok. Then he informed us that we would talk to a person over the phone and they would ask us some questions, he informed us both that ALL of the answers are ""YES". Everything was taking care of electronicaily. He then said,I am giving you all new signs; my partner is coming to give you a new face panel and another window breaker installed.

A few weeks later upon receiving our [redacted] Card Statement, I noticed that we were billed by both Select Security and [redacted] Security. I called Select Security and I said, we were under the impression that Select Security and [redacted] Security was the same company. I was told by the Select Security Representative that we agreed over the phone. She played the tape. She said, we had three days in order to break the contract from the date of the agreement. Which the sales representative never told us that we had three days to break the contract ~ I am sure that would have raised a red flag. Sad to say, my husband and I both realizes now, we have been scammed.

After speaking to the [redacted] Security Representative; she informed me that we were not the only people who have had this experience with Select Security. Select is purposely trying to take [redacted] customers, by saying that they are one company and that they are merging together.

We strongly feel, that the Sales Associated from Select Security; misled us and approached us with deception in mind. Sincerely,Desired Settlement: Please see attached

Review: A sales lady came to my door leading me to believe she is with my current security service company([redacted]). She informed me that my current system or ones like it in the area have been "having trouble" and I should let them replace it with a new one. After telling her mine was fine and I wasn't experiencing any problems She insisted I have it replaced.I reluctantly let her assistant replace the system with one from "Select Security". I signed electronically on their I pad and never received any paperwork. I was very confused at the time and I trusted they would do me right. i'm an 82 yo widower,I have good sense most of the time but this woman had me convinced this was the right thing to do. She also said she would take care of any neccesary cancellations. My son [redacted] balances my checking acct. for me,usually monthly, however because of personal matters he missed a couple months(Aug. & Sept. 2013). While doing Oct. books he noticed 2 Payments for 2 different security companies. Initially he called select Security to see about cancelling and informed them of the high pressur, deceitful sale tactics. He was informed since am competent and I didn't have a power of attorney all they could do is buy out [redacted]'s contract. my son called [redacted] for a buyout total and [redacted],the [redacted] Rep. said that Select Securty acted illegally by knowingly selling me a contract while I am currently under contract with [redacted]. They also illegally cancelled my service with [redacted] and I unknowingly have been paying both companies for their contractual services monthly since aug. 23, 2013. my son explained To [redacted] a customer rep. with select security and she supposedly is trying to get me a refund and the equipment removed from my home. We are waiting a response from [redacted] at this time.10-24-13Desired Settlement: I need to be removed from any and all cotractual obligations with Select Security, receive a total refund of all money paid to them ($157.17) , for Select Security to stop automatic withdrawals from my [redacted] checking account and have all equipment belonging to select security removed from my home at their expense.

Review: My house had already been protected by [redacted] alarm company and the contract is under my name [redacted] In. On Oct. 25, at the time the technician from Select Security arrived at my house, I was at work. He told my wife, who was home at the time, that Select Security had bought out the [redacted] alarm company. He also told my wife that Select Security needed to do an upgrade to the alarm panel for free, as a courtesy since they bought out [redacted] alarm company. My wife believed him, so she let him change the alarm panel. After he changed the panel, I arrived home. My wife then signed a new contract, because again, he told her that they had bought out the [redacted] alarm company. I told the technician that I still had a contract with the original [redacted] alarm company. He told me I would then have to call the office to find out if there was any change. The [redacted] alarm system company called a day later and I ignored the number because I did not recognize it. Then they kept calling and calling, so I finally picked it up and it was [redacted] alarm system. They told me that they did not recognize the alarm system panel that was installed. It was at this time I realized that I had been lied to by the select security alarm company.Desired Settlement: I want them to cancel the contract. They lied to my wife about buying out my original alarm system company. I feel that they were just trying to dupe me and my wife into having to pay for two alarm systems and cancel my original so I would eventually sign with them permanently.

Please look into this.

Thank you very much

To Whom It May Concern

This is for the Revdex.com. I am [redacted] and I’m writing this letter because I have a problem between [redacted] & Select Security. In 2007 I started off with [redacted] Alarm which in 4 years got carried over to [redacted]. After 3 years I received a call from Select Security saying that they wanted to install an alarm panel box. So I asked,’’did [redacted] get carried over to Select Security”. They said yes. This maybe because of language communication or they may be misunderstood me: Now both companies are charging me. So I stop paying the 2 bills. Select Security was charging $44.99 while [redacted] was charging $42.39 a month. This letter was only to clarify this problem.

Thank You for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Please see attached.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

When your representative came to my door in July, 2013, he misrepresented himself to me stating that your company was authorized to take over from my original Alarm System([redacted]) in this area for quick response of trouble with the system and install a new pad with cellular 2-Way voice system.

The only difference would be $49.99, a monthfor monitoring and maintenance from the original $44.99, a month charge by [redacted]. The sales person stated [redacted] would be contacted regarding the completion of the installation and only one charge each month. I contacted [redacted] ater I was charge twice each month by both systems and [redacted] told me the have no connection with your company.

I wish to cancel my Contract with you for misrepresentation and I am filing a Consumers Complaint with the Revdex.com of Delaware.

Kindly come and pick-up your equipment.Desired Settlement: Please see attached.

Review: Salesmen came to my door to get me to switch from [redacted] security to Select Security. The incentive to switch was a fire alarm feature. I believe they have made good on that. They promised to pay my PAY OFF FEE from [redacted] in a timely manner. None of this happened initially. I had to call Select security several times. I joined with the new company in May and have still not gotten reimbursed for my pay off to [redacted]. The amount is approximately 1,000. I have to pay both companies now until I get the money from Select security. I called again today - They admitted that the request was not submitted to the accounts payable office until July 10th and will take 6-8 weeks to receive. This is just not acceptable business practices.Desired Settlement: To expedite my refund check of 1,000 ASAP.

Dear Sir or Madam:

In early October, my 87-year-old mother, [redacted], was contacted by [redacted], a representative for Select Security (which operates in [redacted], UT, but it’s my understanding that its main office is in [redacted], PA). **. [redacted] misinformed my mother that her current security service, [redacted], was going out of business and that Select Security was taking over [redacted] s accounts in her area.

He had a tech install her new unit and took the old one out on or around October 14, 2013. He also told her that her billing with Select Securtiy would not start until December 2013, to allow time for [redacted] to stop its billing and transfer the account to the new company, Select Security. He also told her that Select Security would be charging the same fee as [redacted].

In my mother’s November 2013 bank statement, there were two charges for security services - a charge from [redacted] and a charge from Select Security. While **. [redacted] said that the charge would be the same, Select Security charged $44.99, but [redacted] had charge $39.99 per month. We also learned that [redacted] did not go out of business and is still providing services in [redacted], Utah. In fact, [redacted] is willing to reinstall a security unit and reinitiate its services to my mother’s home.

I attempted to call **. [redacted]. on the phone number that he provided my mother, but there was no answer and a message says that the voicemail service on this account has not been set up. I’ve called this number four times with the same results. Here is the number that he provided: ###-###-####.

I have contacted Select Security in Pennsylvania. Despite the deceptive and predatory manner in which they obtained the contract, they have refused to release my from this contract until 2018.

To resolve this unfortunate situation, my mother would like this contract with Select Security canceled without penalty because it was obtained fraudulently and under false pretenses.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,Desired Settlement: Please see attached

Review: Last fall a salesman knocked on our door, said he had noticed the wheelchair lift in front of the house, and told us that he could provide a new digital security system for the house. We told him we only needed the "life alert" feature, which we already had with a local company. He told us that we would be required to switch to digital system soon anyway, and the monthly service fee was comparable to what we had been paying. My wife swiped her signature on a digital device, after being told it merely indicated her approval for drilling some holes in the wall, and for authorization of the direct debit for the service fee. At no time was a service contract mentioned. My wife signed the device, because she had power of attorney for her 90-year-old mother, who was in failing health. At that time, it was doubtful that she might even be able to stay in the house more than a couple of more months. After the new service was activated, we received a number of false alarms, which had never happened with the old service. The one and only time my mother-in-law intentionally pressed the button due to shortness of breath, the rep who answered the alert could not help her, because my mother-in-law could not remember her password!Shortly after my mother-law passed away in January I called [redacted] Security to ask that they discontinue the service, and stop the billing. That was when I heard, for the first time, that we had signed a 5-year contract, and they would not cancel. I called again, a few months later, and was told they would cancel with a death certificate, but only if my mother-in-law had signed the contract, which she could not do.I feel that [redacted] Security has taken advantage, not only of an elderly woman in failing health, but of family members who were trying their best to care or her. There is no way anyone could have expected to need this service for five years, and the one time it was needed, it did not work.Desired Settlement: I think it would be fair that Select Security cancel the automatic debit, and issue a refund back to the time when I first called them in January, 2014.

I would prefer to remain with [redacted] Sec. for the remainder of my contract, I have stop payment to Select Security on 10/08/2013 and a dispute for two monthly payments. Review: Salesman at purchase very deceptive. We had explained that we planned on moving and also leaving the state in near future. Clearly made it seem that was "no problem" and wouldn't cost us a thing to do. Instead we find in small print that first local move involved extending the contract, and now with move out of state impending had to had equipment removed and facing large bill for rest of extended contract years. Clearly misleading and seemed to say anything to get the sale.Desired Settlement: No further payment. We paid approx. $50/month for more than 3 years, and tried to get buyers to take over but refused.

Review: Money is not the real issue as it is a very small amount. Mother has been moved to senior living so she no longer needs monitoring service. Once her condo was under sale contract I called them at 4:50pm 5/23 to ask what I should do about the bill due 5/31; they had gone home early. So I called back on 5/27 and was told, by Amanda, to pay the bill; customer care will handle the cancellation and issue a refund. She wanted the buyer's name I told her I gave the company contact information to the real estate agent.

8/15 as we were not able to secure reimbursement I left a message, for manager Celia F[redacted]. 12:05 Amanda calls me back to tell me the company has no refund policy. She told me I didn't supply them with the buyer's information.

8/28 I call and again leave message for Celia F[redacted]; no response.

This complaint is about a person doing what the company asked, mother had service (yes, the company changed names and no, we never had an issue with the monitoring side; same goes for the 25+ years we've had service at our home)

for over 20 years, which was pay the bill. If they had been upfront that nothing would be returned I would have prorated it for the closing date and not paid the full quarter. I had told them that mother is no longer able to live alone and would not be owning another property. They wanted me to give them the buyer's information. 1. that is public record 2. that is not my job to do their marketing 3. I told them twice that I had given the company contact information to the real estate person to pass. along.

This complaint isn't really about the money it's about the nature of the company, a company that takes on the 24 hour responsibility for the safety and welfare of it's clients should do what they say they are going to do and should return telephone calls. We will also probably cancel, in the next quarter, as I didn't realize my husband paid our bill, in the middle of the close, move etc. Not that we aren't happy with the monitoring end I don't ever want to have to communicate with this excuse for a business office again.Desired Settlement: Please send mother's refund to: [redacted]

Re: [redacted] Kourt Security

This issue was never resolved. I contacted the company back in May, when the quarterly bill was due. I asked if I should pay the entire amount or prorate it as we had a closing date on her condo of July 1st. Their employee (Amanda) told me to pay the entire bill and they would issue a refund. When I called back at closing to request mother's refund, the same employee told me "we don't give refunds". I did speak with Maria and she did finally offer to send mother a refund for $47 and change. They were given my office mail box as the place to send the check to. Apparently they sent to the condo, a place she had not been living for more than a year so the mail forwarding service had expired. Maria said they can't issue a check to the correct place as the check hadn't been returned to them. That's at least a month ago. The alarm system and therefore the phone were kept up just to keep the fire monitoring as she had moved out. The alarm was never set for about a year as real estate agents were coming and going. We also cancelled, after having service with the company (ok, it was sold 3 or 4 times in the meantime) since 1987, they came up with some carryover agreement, on our account, from one of the former companies, but that issue never came up with mother's account. Why the double standard? We paid for the installation of mother's (and Dad's now deceased system). In I think, it was 1991. My brother was an installer with the company when we bought our system in 1987. If they really need their $47 that badly then fine, we are done. They are the only company that didn't do what they said they would do.

They really didn't need to know, but mother was moved mostly because she's 86 and has some dementia problems, manages very well on some levels, but I pay all of her bills and manage a lot of other things for her on a daily basis. I wouldn't have gotten angry if I hadn't taken the time to do what the company asked, which was pay the bill in the first place; there was enough to do with moving her twice in the past year, dealing with the real estate people, the title company, getting all of her bills changed over to my box, her doctors, etc. etc. etc. It's best we are done with that company, after so long a good history for both households it's just too bad.

This FREE INSTALLATION was worth a lot of money and he had to install THAT night for me to get the dealI was hesitant considering he was using a lot of scare tactics, but a free installation sounded greatPlus, [redacted] kept touting the company as better than "[redacted]" and a "local" company where one man, President [redacted], was committed to serving people in [redacted], PAI wanted some time to think about it, but he said I could only have the offer that nightWhen he sat down to go over the details, he almost immediately had a sales rep on the line ready to place an orderFIRST, he apologized and said it was NOT a FREE INSTALLATION as he first claimedNow he said I would have to pay $of the $installation fee because of police/ambulance/fire services (misrepresentation 2)He also told me that it was $49.99/month BUT HE NEVER SAID I WAS LOCKED INTO A FIVE YEAR CONTRACT!! (Misrepresentation 3.) On the phone, the rep quickly rattled off a lot of information including a locked in price for months! I took that to mean the $a month was only guaranteed for that longAt no point did anyone explain that I had to PAY $for FIVE YEARS without questionWhen I asked if the price would change after that time, they only reinforced my misunderstanding by verbally saying the price was lockforeverThe main reason for my complaint is the misrepresentation of information and high-pressure sales: Because Select Security had to install THAT eveningWhen I signed contract, the rep only showed portions of contract on his tablet/computerI NEVER WAS SHOWN THE WHOLE CONTRACT DUE TO ELECTRONIC NATURE OF TRANSACTION AND HIGH PRESSURE SALESNot only was I still unsure of the 5-year committment, I did not get an email of the official contract until Monday, June 24thIt was then that I was CLEARLY aware of the contract I had signed[redacted] rushed through the signing of the contracts by "summarizing" and having me sign on his tablet/computer device and only showing portions of contractHe was in my home as late as 9:pm and the installation did not occur until 10pm that evening with the technicians leaving my home after 10:45pm at nightThat is HIGH PRESSURE sales- requiring many people and the consumer to be working that late into the eveningThis company did not have my interests as a priority, but their own salesOther issues with misrepresentation: When they put the advertising sign outside my home, they misplaced the numbers and wrote my address backwardsI asked for replacement b/f cancellation of service and the rep failed to show up in the time allottedWhen I called to ask what happened on Saturday, June 22, it was explained to me that I was not working DIRECTLY with the [redacted], PA office, but one in UTAH!!! Hence the confusion and delay with sales technicians to my homeSeeing as this was the first evening with this service, I CANCELLED the policy immediately[redacted], the sales rep, informed me that if I cancelled, he would have the technicians plaster and repair any holes made in my wallsWhen the tech guys came today July 1st, the tech guy [redacted] said he did not have anything to repair wallAlso, I learned that my neighbors had a breTWO YEARS ago and not the night before as the select security officer claimed[redacted]'s presentation used high-pressure tactics and he never FULLY DISCLOSED the details of the contractThis company should be more forthright with the FIVE YEAR CONTRACT and the fact that they have multiple offices that are out-of-state, which the customer may be required to work withAccording to [redacted], PA Select Security, I was locked in with the Utah office for the remainder of this yearAnd locked into paying $49.99/month for FIVE YEARSTHIS WAS NOT EXPLAINED THE EVENING I SIGNED THE CONTRACTOne cannot claim to be a LOCAL/[redacted] PA company and then use UTAH offices that work on MOUNTAIN TIME!!! This company should be required to offer HARD COPIES of contracts and not just use tablets/computers as a method of sharing contractsThe contract should include the location of the office and representatives the consumer will be forced to useReps like [redacted] are doing a disservice to the company name by using HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS.Desired Settlement: This company should be more forthright with the FIVE YEAR CONTRACT and the fact that they have multiple offices that are out-of-state, which the customer may be required to work withAccording to [redacted], PA Select Security, I was locked in with the Utah office for the remainder of this yearAnd locked into paying $49.99/month for FIVE YEARSTHIS WAS NOT EXPLAINED THE EVENING I SIGNED THE CONTRACTOne cannot claim to be a LOCAL/[redacted] PA company and then use UTAH offices that work on MOUNTAIN TIME!!! Review: I have a problem with select security not being able to honor what their representative offered me when he came into my home to get new service. Select security representative quoted me that the first three months were not going to be charged and the initial installation fee would have been reimbursed to me through a rebate check. Monthly payments are $54.12 and installation fee was $107.17. He also stated that select security would take care of terminating services with my current security company. I learned later that none of these expectations were fulfilled by select security. I provided select security a final resolution letter from [redacted] on 2/10/14 with the amount of $576.27 to be paid off within 30 days. This amount was a reduced agreement that [redacted] provided at the time. Select security ignored time sensitive payoff and sent a check for that amount after I called them on 5/2/14. Select security as also ignored my request to terminate the contract and my refund request for my initial installation and three months payments like their representative quoted. Now, [redacted] has sent me another final bill on 5/28/14 with the amount of $1038.70 to terminate my services.I forwarded this letter to [redacted] from select security has refused to acknowledge the first letter from [redacted] with its time sensitive payoff due date.Desired Settlement: I request that select security refunds all charges that select security representative quoted when he came into my home and used his predatory sales tactics to gain business from me. I'm also requesting that select security honors the second letter sent from [redacted] aka [redacted] and pays off the final bill of $1038.70. If select security refuses to pay that amount, I am requesting that all charges be refunded to me and my contract with select security be terminated immediately.

Review: It is my belief that [redacted] led me to purchase a service that is not to able to provide me with the terms that they told me they could provide. I was informed that [redacted] Security would buy out my current contact with [redacted]. In the past several months [redacted] has provided me with a personal check of his for payment towards two months worth of billing from [redacted]. When I contacted [redacted] they informed me that [redacted] Security had set up my services under false pretense for numerous people in the [redacted] area. [redacted] had a customer service representative, who assisted me in contacting [redacted] Security at which time [redacted] Security put me into a loop of several people that would not listen to me an just pass me on. In the end [redacted] Security refused to cancel my contract and wanted payment in full. However [redacted] had told me when I signed up that he would take care of my contract with [redacted] and [redacted] Security would be my primary security system. However [redacted] Security will not abide by the statement of paying off my [redacted] contract. Since [redacted] Security has been taking out money from my bank account I have had to go and freeze all my bank accounts and am in the process of closing all accounts to open new ones. [redacted] Security has not preformed any of the obligations I was told when I signed up for their service.Desired Settlement: I want out of the [redacted] Security contract and back to my prior security system. [redacted] Security lead me on to believe that [redacted] would e going out of business. I have found this information is to not be true.
