To Whom It May Concern:

My name is [redacted]. I have an account with [redacted] Security and I have a sign in my yard with the word [redacted] on it. A salesman by the name of [redacted] from Select Security came knocking at my door and started telling me that there were a lot of complaints about [redacted] He started telling me about Select Security. It sounded good so I left him come in my house and he sat down with my daughter, son-in-law and me and he continued to tell us more about Select Security. He said that he would give me 2 remotes, glass breakage, carbon monoxide detector and a life alert free of charge. Then he said that if I would stay with [redacted] Security I would have to pay $500 to renew my contract with them, which I found out was a lie. He also said that if I go with Select Security that he would send [redacted] a cancellation letter stating that I am cancelling my account with them and to send me a statement telling me how much I owe to cancel my account with them. He also said if I didn’t hear from [redacted] in 2 weeks to give him a call.

Everything sounded good. So I signed on his keypad, but never received any papers of the contract with Select Security.

Two weeks went by and I never received anything from [redacted]. I called [redacted] 3 times leaving him a message about not receiving any statement from [redacted] about how much I owed them m cancel my account wilh them. [redacted] never returned any of my phone calls.

Therefore, I called [redacted] myself and asked if they ever received a cancellation letter from me and they said no and I also asked them if I would have to pay $500 to renew my contract they said no. They told me that I didn’t have to pay anything. I also asked if they were still taking money out of my account and they said yes.

So, therefore, I want to cancel my contract with Select Security and stop payment on my checking account so Select Security can't draw any money out of my banking account. Due to the fact that [redacted] mislead me and lied to me several times.

He said that I would have to pay $500 to renew my contract with [redacted] which was a lie. He also lied to me in saying that he sent [redacted] a cancellation letter to cancel my contract which [redacted] never received. He also lied lo me in stating that if I didn’t get a statement from [redacted] in 2 weeks to call him. I did call him 3 times and left multiple messages tor him to call me that I never got a statement from [redacted]. [redacted] never returned any of my calls.

I want nothing to do with Select Security because [redacted] mislead me and lied to me many times.

I am very upset with all of this and I want to cancel my contract with Select Security and stop payment on my bank account.

Review: Two men came to our door and wanted to upgrade our security system. Assuming they were from [redacted], where we have a contract, we allowed them to change all equipment. No contract was left with us. It was sent by email later. We were out of town and didn't have access to it until much later. We didn't know the men were from Select Security until all work was done and their sign was put out front. They also conveniently forgot to remind us we were under contract with another company. We are now paying for two security systems. We have contacted Select Security and asked that they cancel our contract. and to not make any more charges to our bank account.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of Contract with Security Systems

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
Regards,

Review: I was a customer with [redacted] Securities and it was clearly posted in front of my home. The salesman rang my doorbell and said he was there to check my security systems out and they were all the same company and could possibly lower my rates. This statement was what led me to believe he was with [redacted] and I let him in my home. I understood him to be with [redacted]. He ask all the questions about my system and where everything was located. He worked on his iPad the whole time. He wanted me to sign his iPad. I thought I was signing that he verified my system as being ok. He then pulls out a new sticker for my window that says Select Security. I said wait a minute you are with a completely different company. Not [redacted]. He said oh yes and now you a 4.00 a month lower rate. He then ask for my contract from [redacted]. I went and got my contract and showed him. He then said that [redacted] owes me money because I was paid a month ahead. This was not accurate. I was still under contract with [redacted] for 5 more months. He wrote a thing on his iPad and told me it was to cancel my contract with [redacted] and they would be the ones to turn it in to them. There was never anything turned in to [redacted]. [redacted] later told me that they would never cancel a contract under those circumstances from another party.

As soon as he was done explaining that he would send in the cancelation to [redacted] he was out the door. 20 minutes later an installer came and put their panel on the wall. The installer repeated over and over that they all use the same equipment. They removed the [redacted] sign from my yard and laid it on my back porch. They installed their sign in the front yard. When I realized on my bank statement that I had been charged for both companies I called [redacted]. I explained to them what had happened and he said **. [redacted] I'm sorry but you have been slammed. I had [redacted] come back and reinstall their panel and their sign. I put Select Security's panel and sign on the swing on my front porch. A Select Security rep came at 9:00 PM that same night and picked it up. I tried to call Select Securities and cancel the 62 month contract and they won't. I called [redacted] and they called Select Securities with me on the line during a conference call and they refused to cancel my contract.. [redacted] ask Select Securities where **. [redacted]'s contract was. They said it's all on the iPad and there is no paper contract. Select Securities concluded the conversation by saying they would bill me for the remainder of the contract for $2,200.00 I paid 2 months payments to both companies. Select Securities was charging me 39.99 per month. I paid them 79.98 and their unit was only in my home for 3 weeks. They deducted May and June payments from my checking account. I had given them a voided check.Desired Settlement: Cancel contract and do not bill me for the remainder of the contract and do not contact me.

Review: AN ALARM TECH FROM SELECT SECURITIES WENT TO MY HOUSE. MY SON LET HIM IN. HE SAID MY ALARM WAS NOT WORKING BECAUSE WHEN [redacted] WENT DIGITAL MY AALRM (FROM A DIFFERENT CO.) STOPPED WORKING. THIS WAS A LIE!

I SIGNED A TABLET WITHOUT THINKING! HOWEVER HE DID NOT TELL ME I HAD A SPECIFIC TIME TO CANCEL MY ORDER. HE TOLD ME TO WRITE A CANCEL LETTER TO MY PRESENT ALARM CO. Review: I would like to complain about the services rendered via your company. We were given misinformation about the company and services via the sales person that signed us up for your service. We were told that when or if we moved we would be able to transfer the system free of charge without penalty of having our contract extended. When we did move that information given by the sales person was false. We were told we would be charged over $100 to have the system transferred if we did not want our contract extended. That is not what we were told by our sales person, who conveiently no longer works with your company. We would like to cancel our contract immediately without paying the penalty of of the remaining three years of the contract. The sales person lied to us to get us locked into the contract, and on top of the customer service department has not been helpful. I have emailed numerous times via your website and have received no response. When I do call they state that they can do nothing and that we are locked in no matter what the sales person said. That is bad and dishonest business. We feel that we were tricked with by the sales person and treated poorly by everyone we have spoken with. The misinformation given by the sales person is a breach of contract. I have mentioned that directly to customer service and they stated “ we have no control of what the sales people say.”Desired Settlement: Cancellation of Contract

Review: Sales representatives came to my home saying my home alarm monitoring account had been aquired in a buy out. They knew who my original service was with, had name badges, had stickers with their logo along with a yard sign. They upgraded my alarm panel as a welcome gift to their company. I was instructed I could dispose of the old unit which I did. They provided a yard sign and window stickers. Had me sign some paper work via a tablet device. Asked me to update my billing info with their company, the new company. Everything seemed legitiment. Prior to their arrival I had not spoken with any one, nor did I have things posted saying I had a security system. Everything made sense. After reviewing my bank statement I noticed I was being charged by the said company, "Select Security" and "[redacted]". After speaking with [redacted] I discovered that [redacted] was the rightful owner of my account and there had been no buy out that the sales reps spoke of. Because I disposed of the original equipment like the select security reps said I am liable for the cost to reinstall the proper equipment needed for [redacted]. I am also obligated to extend my contract by 18 months to keep me from having to front the cost of equipment installation upfront. So because of the fraudulent practices by Select Security I will be responsible for 40 more months on my monitoring contract instead of 16. Select Security operates with fraudulent practices. They claim to monitor homes and keep people safe when really the are lying theirs that take advantage of the American people.Desired Settlement: I want to be refunded for the charges that have been applied by select security as well as the cost to reinstall the proper equipment. Steps should also be taken to ensure that select security can no longer financially take advantage of people.

Review: A salesman came to my home leading me to believe he was with my current security service company and needed to update or replace the current installed devices. I was not given any paperwork but was asked to sign electronically. I had no idea that my security service had been switched to Select Security until I received a call from [redacted] the security service I had been with since 2007 stating they noticed I cancelled. I explained to [redacted] I didn't want to switch nor was I aware a switch was made. [redacted] came and replaced Select Security's devices, I then looked at my bank statements and noticed I had been billed by both security services. I then went to my bank to advise of the situation and to not honor any ACH transactions from Select Security. Somehow they have continued to withdrawl two payments since the switch back to [redacted] and are now trying to bill be me for the full balance stating I am under contract with them. I have called, written and emailed Select Security however, they continue to try and collect for the full balance. I have tried to return Select Security's devises with no avail.Desired Settlement: To be removed from any contractural obligations with Select Security, receive a refund of $134.97 they debited since being switched back to my original security service [redacted]. Stop all ACH transactions moving forward and have equipment belonging to Select Security returned to them at their expense.

Review: A sales representative from [redacted] came to my door stating that he was from my security system company ([redacted]). I replied, that hadn't received any calls from the company about this visit. He replied, well we're coming around to update the systems, then stated that my system was "diosour" as he peeked through my doorway. I let him in. He stated that the company has been bought out quite a few times and he apologized for that. Which this was somewhat true since I originally started with a different company that was bought by [redacted]. This all seemed to be confirming information that this was another buyout of my security company. He then proceeded to ask me when I hooked my service up originally, then throwing out his guess of two years? I told him it was last summer. He told me my account was connected in my husband's name but told me I could sign for him since I was his spouse and my husband was not present. He then went on to tell me that he would give a cheaper monthly payment for my inconvenience and how great this updated system was since it was touchscreen. It is a very nice system, however it is not worth the headache of this situation. By this time the system was all hooked up and they were just working on the censoring. He told me that he had to call the office so that they could verify the upgrade. He said, they were going to to tell you that we are not affiliated with any other companies, " but between you and my they have to say that due to legal purposes, the transition with the companies is a very sticky situation," but just say yes when they ask that question. This made me feel uneasy but I kept thinking back to how much info he knew about us already having to switch to a new company and the account was in my husband's name. So stupid me responded yes to everything they asked me via the telephone. As they were wrapping up I had a puzzled look on my face because I was so confused about what I just got myself into and the sales rep noticed that and asked if I had any concerns. I replied, "So my payments will just be transferred over automatically to this new company, right?" He responded, " I'll tell you what [redacted] get out a piece of paper," so I did. He proceeds by telling me verbatim what to write on the paper: dear [redacted] I'm canceling my monitoring service with you..... He told to make sure I write the date and my safety word that I had given to the coming, which they use to verify who their talking to. He searched the company address on his phone and gave that to me as well. At this point I was certain that I was not updating with my original company but closing my account and starting a new contract with a totally new company. By now everything was hooked up, they had already taken out my old system, I had already signed my husband's name on their contract, which was on an iPad, and the system was pretty neat so I just felt I was too far in and I might as well not say anything at this point. Two days later when I received their contract via email I was confused as to why I had a $100 installation fee when I was told that I would just be paying the first monthly installment fee of $49.99. In hindsight, I realized when I signed the agreement that the signature line was the only thing that showed in his little iPad screen. I never had a thorough view the full agreement. I found out that I would paying the $100 fee plus the first months fee totaling 149.99. Even though I was a little agitated I thanked the representative then hung up. A couple of days later I receive a call from [redacted] stating that I was still in contract with them, now this was getting very frustrating and I was unsure of what to do. I had never thought about something like this happening because 95% of the time during [redacted] install I that it was just an upgrade and never perceived something like to happen to me. With a customer advocate from [redacted] I attempted to call [redacted] to come up with some resolution. The first operator took my information and documented my explanation of the situation. I received a call from [redacted] the next day and stated, as reading from a script, that I was legally bound to their contract because they have me on recording agreeing to everything. I told them what their sales rep stated to me prior to making the call and he said they have no proof of that and would take no responsibility for what their sales reps are telling people to make a sale. I never thought I could be easily scammed, but I was and now I'm not sure what to do. However, [redacted]'s customer advocate dept. has told me that they will continue working with me to contact [redacted] to reach someone of higher authority to come up with a resolution. Also, there were several attempts made later that day in effort to speak to someone that could help and once [redacted] heard the rep from [redacted] on the line with me, they hung up. We made another attempt and was transferred to an empty line. The last time I did the talking before the rep from [redacted] and we got through to someone. However the [redacted] read from the same script and said the same exact thing I had heard previously, that would have to pay the amount for the full contract or transfer my account over to someone with good credit standing. At this point I wouldn't recommend [redacted] to someone I don't like.Desired Settlement: A written release from this contract since their sales approach was not honest originally and they have no real interest in resolving this with the customer in mind.
