Lake Cook Plumbing Service, Inc. Reviews (46)

We've used LCPS several times and have been impressed with their professionalism and quality of workmanship. We will continue to use them for any and all of our plumbing needs

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:your company sent two individuals that were baffled by the situation. I had a plumber come in and it was diagnosed in a matter of 45 minutes. It did not involve your areas in the least. He checked the plumbing and all fixtures and lines were fine. Your men wanted to continue to cut holes in all my walls. I did not ask for $17,000. I asked for the portion that was extra that would be put toward the next bill. Your company caused me more damage and added expense. The holes in the kitchen did not need to be cut. The last plumber never even looked in the kitchen. His diagnosis came from hands on in the shower. I believe people should be made aware of your inaccurate diagnosis ability. I will make sure that this happens.
Sincerely,

From start to finish I had an excellent experience with Lake-Cook Plumbing. The office staff was very courteous and my plumber, Chris was outstanding. He was polite, thoroughly explained the problem (sump pump issue), detailed my repair options and quickly and cleanly performed the needed work. I highly recommend Chris and Lake-Cook Plumbing. I will be using them anytime I have future plumbing needs.

Other than the person that was sent out to my address was not able to find my house, so I had to call past the time they were supposed to come to my house to service my toilet, it was an overall good experience. I would suggest that the company makes sure that they visit the correct address when going to service the customer. I waited several hours for the service person to arrive, then they never did. However, when they did get another technician out, Josh was very friendly and completely the work on my toilet quickly and very well!

They would not give you an estimate or leave you alone when you call them on a phone. They will push you into the corner and you will agree to pay $50 to have them coming to your home to give you an estimate. I had a clogged kitchen sink and the estimate was $495. I asked the man how much they charge per hour, and he said, they don't charge per hour, they charge per given job. Well, I couldn't accept this but they were still ahead with my 50 bucks wasted, while they "earned" for just coming and looking around. I found somebody else who did it for a lot, lot less. But the important thing is that it took him less than half hour to unclog the sink. Think about it! Lake Cook Plumbing charges over $1,000 per hour for their work. Who else get that much for a job that requires just right tools but little skill and training.

We were first called out the the residence to diagnose a leak that was appearing on the kitchen ceiling below the master bathroom.  The customer had previously believed the leak was due to a roof issue and had repairs done and the water spot still continued.  the first time we visited the...

home was on 4/26/17.  Our technicians began to assess the situation and discussed options with the customer to start the diagnosis.  We presented a diagnosis option to open the ceiling where the water spot occurred to ascertain if any of the plumbing in the ceiling was leaking.  Our diagnosis charge (which included opening the ceiling) was $177.69, which the customer agreed to move forward.  After the ceiling was opened, we did not see any visible signs of water or drain lines leaking in that area.  Due to no immediate leak in the ceiling, we changed the focus of where the water was coming from to the 2nd floor in the shower area.  We then proceeded to run water tests from the shower above the water spot in the kitchen.  After several attempts of spraying water on the shower walls and floor, we were unable to recreate the leak.  We informed the customer to leave the ceiling open and to call us immediately if water continues to leak so we can return and continue diagnose.  We were at the customers home for 2 hours and 12 minutes per our GPS truck tracking.  The total charge for this visit was $177.69. The customer called us again a few days later and indicated that water was dripping again after using the master bath shower.  We scheduled an appointment on 5/3/17.  The general manager went with one of the original technicians from the previous visit.  Upon arrival, we took necessary steps to start the diagnosis again to recreate the problem.  We began by running water tests on the shower and were able to recreate the water drip on this visit.  Upon further diagnosis, we removed escutcheon plate on the shower valve and found that the gasket seal to the tile was installed incorrectly when it was installed by a previous company.  The gasket was installed upside down and there was a gap on the top side that was allowing water to enter a hole that was approximately 1" long by 1/8" wide.  The customer then said they would fill the gap themselves and thanked us for our diligence in finding the problem.  We were at the customers home for 1 hour and 6 minutes per our GPS truck tracking.  We did not charge for this visit.Approximately one week later, the customer called and informed us they used the master bath shower again and water did leak again in the same spot on the kitchen ceiling.  At this point, the customer still had the holes open in the kitchen ceiling from our first visit.  We informed the customer that the general manager and owner of the company would be out to assess the problem.  The general manager the company owner arrived to the home on 5/10/17.  We began by investigating the improperly installed gasket that was identified on the previous visit.  The homeowner did seal the hole and it did appear to be water tight.  Upon further extensive water testing with the handheld shower sprayer, we were able to recreate a water drip again.  We then began to run water tests by isolating certain areas of the tiled shower walls, and we were able to create a more extensive leak with a solid stream of water running down to the kitchen ceiling.  After further investigation, we found a significant crack in the grout line in the corner of the shower.  We found when water was sprayed directly on this location; the water drip in the kitchen ceiling became very heavy with a solid stream of water.  We showed the homeowner where the problem was and indicated that the person that tiled the shower did so incorrectly.  We informed the homeowner that the corners of a tiled shower should be caulked and not just grouted.  The homeowner said they would contact a tile person to correct the issue.  We were at the home for 1 hour and 30 minutes per our GPS truck tracking.  We did not charge for this visit. At some point after the 3rd visit, the customer contacted us and said there was still a leak.  The customer informed us they were having another company come out and did not want us to come back.  We informed the customer we would be more than happy to come back to help rectify the issue.  The customer informed us that they wanted a refund of the original diagnosis fee of $177.69.  We informed the customer that we have gone above and beyond in assessing their situation and we were able to diagnosis 2 different areas where water was leaking from the shower.  Both water leaks we identified were due to poor craftsmanship from previous contractors that installed the shower valve gasket upside down and also the tile company that did not properly caulk in the necessary locations.  Clearly, there were multiple leaks and the customer did not allow us to come back and continue to find additional water leaks after the first 2 leaks we were able to diagnose.  We visited the home on 3 separate occasions; spent a total of 4 hours and 48 minutes at this customers home; we were able to diagnose 2 water leaks for a total charge of $177.69.
