Magazine Agency Reviews (56)

Review: On March **, 2013 I was contacted by phone to renew my subscription of the American Journal of Nursing. After refusing several times, the salesman offered $300 in the form of a gas certificate if I would renew for 3 years that day. I agreed and $118.44 was debited from my checking account. I never received any of the magazines. Two months later I did receive an invoice with the gas certificate, which I then found out had strings attached. To get the $300, in fine print on the certificate, a refund of $25 was made for every $100 spent. I did not redeem this certificate. In June of 2013, I contacted Magazine Agency and after several messages that were not returned, I finally got a person on the line. That, very rude person took my information to pass along to a supervisor. She even gave me a story of how the company's owner had just died and this company had just taken over his accounts. On July **, 2013 I again called Magazine Agency after not hearing from them. I spoke to a [redacted] that assured me that a refund would be posted within a week. I again contacted Magazine Agency on August *, 2013 after not receiving any refund. Another very rude lady told me that it would be on my next's month's statement. Now it is August **, 2013 and not one penny has been refunded. I cannot reach Magazine Agency via telephone, and there is no response to my several emails.Desired Settlement: I would like my full $118.44 refunded to me immediately.

Sincerely,

Review: In late 2012 this company sent me a request to join the for a cheaper rate for certain number of my magazines that I was receiving as well as a $300 Gas Cert card. Sounded like a good plan so I agreed. In Dec 2012 - I paid the full amount that was due at $89.64, which I should have received my magazines within 6 weeks. Since Feb 2013, I have been attempting to call them and leave numerous messages with no responses. Finally in Jun 2013 I was able to get a hold of someone and they said there were some errors and they corrected it, and I should receive my magazines by early August 2013. Well, it is Aug. **, 2013 with no magazines. I have tried to call them numerous amounts of time with no responses and only get a recording.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund in the full amount plus the $300 Gas Cert that was suppose to be sent to me.

Sincerely,

Review: We received an advertisement stating that if we ordered magazines through them that we would receive $ 300 in gas saving via certificates and two free subscriptions. We ordered Playboy for three years and selected Bon Appetit and Garden and Gun as our free subscriptions. We have not received any of the magazines or the gas certificates.

I have paid via credit card the amount for the Playboy subscription in the amount of $ 80.68 which was charged to my card 6/**/2013. I have made numerous attempts to contact them (in excess of 10 times) and have left messages each time with no response - their phone is still active!

We also have talked to someone on an Arizona phone number which is ###-###-####.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund and this business practice to be stopped.

Sincerely,

Review: I responded to a sales call from Magazine Agency. I was told via phone (and received confirmation in the mail) that I'd get US Weekly Magazine ($104 issues), 12 issues of W, 7 issues of Taste of Home, and a $300 Gas Certificate. I was further told that I could change W magazine and Taste of Home to other magazines listed. I chose ESPN and Wired by emailing them the request, as I was told to do. I was also told I could change the Gas Certificate to $300 in grocery savings, which I did. I paid $123.76 using my Mastercard on 5/**/2013. I have not received any grocery vouchers, ESPN, nor Wired Magazines. I have emailed them several times and repeatedly phoned them leaving messages including my Acct. number ([redacted]) and phone. I always get an automated answer. The statement from Magazine Agency says it may take 30-120 to begin my service. It's way past that. This company is a fraud.Desired Settlement: Though I want the magazines and vouchers offered, I will never trust this company. I want a full refund for $123.76 back to my credit card.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Magazine Agency regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

On 10/**/13, I got a call from the Customer Service Center for Magazine Agency (Synergy) who left a message telling me to email Magazine Agency which she said is now called Subscription Agency to inform them of my problem. Obviously, I had done this many times already. I emailed them again and got an email response from Magazine Agency stating the agency is under new ownership since Oct. 2013 and that an outsourced customer service agency is handling inquiries as well. They provided incorrect information regarding my original order and said that their records show I didn't sign a release form regarding the gas savings program which they said was conducted through a separate company. This is incorrect, as was their record of the original order. I emailed them copies of everything I had signed and ordered and have not heard back since this was done on 10/**/13. I do not expect to hear back, nor have this matter ever settled.

Sincerely,

Review: Magazine Agency called on the evening of 06/**/2013 to notify me that I was being charged for a magazine order and to verify the order. I stated I had not ordered anything and refused payment. The representative notified me the phone call was not for permission and that the order was already locked-in and placed. The rep also stated there was a supposed recording of the order, for which I requested, but have not received. On 07/**/13 I received a letter from Magazine Agency describing the charge of $87.68 that was put on my credit card for 39 issues of Consumer Report, as well as receiving my bank statement with the charge shown as being placed on 06/**/13. I have attempted to contact Magazine Agency via e-mail and phone (voicemail), but I have not received contact back from the company.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of magazine order and refund of credit card charges; deletion of all personal information.

Sincerely,

Review: I paid $59.40 for 30 issues of Discover Magazine, 26 issues of ESPN, 12 issues of Popular Science and 1 free $300 gas certificate on 7-**-2013. To date no magazines have been received and no gas certificate has been received. Nobody answers the phone number on my receipt or answers the email also listed on my receipt.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate the delivery of the magazines ordered or a $59.40 refund.

Review: I was contacted via telephone to renew my subscription to Playboy magazine for three years. I was promised in writing subscriptions to ESPN and Maxim and a gas card worth $300.00. For this my credit card was charged a total of $89.64 on 2/**/2013. Currently the only magazine I have received is Maxim. I have never received an issue of ESPN or received the gas card I was promised. I have contacted the company dozens of time via phone and I have not received even a call back regarding this issue. I have also emailed them twice and received no response. This company is scamming the public and I would like my money refunded because they lied and did not deliver what they said I was paying for. I find it hard to believe that after six months I still don't have an issue of a magazine that I ordered.Desired Settlement: I would really like to have my $89.64 refunded to me. But if they won't do that I would also settle for having my magazines sent to me along with the $300.00 in gas they promised me.

Review: On 8/**/13 I received a phone call from ths agency about buying magazines. I paid for several subscriptions costing $56.97. I was promised 3 different magazines, two of which I have already received. I was also promised a $300 gas voucher to any gas station. It has been 32 weeks and I have never received the gas voucher. It was promised, in writing, that it would be delivered in 21 weeks. I have since contacted this agency via e-mail with no reply. I have also called their number [redacted] and have waited on the phone for almost an hour several times. I have tried calling a second number [redacted] whick is not in service. It is impossible to speak to someone with a heartbeat at this company but when they called me they would not let me hang up. Can you please help?Desired Settlement: I would like the gas voucher as promised on the phone and in writing.

Sincerely,

Review: I paid for a three year renewal of my subscription to Playboy Magazine on May **, 2013. The cost was $80.68. Playboy does not have any such subscription knowledge and has informed me my subscription is currently terminated. The company does not answer the phone number given to me and I can not get in touch with the company. I feel I have been cheated out of my $80.68 and want to get a refund of my subscription costs.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of my $80.68.

Review: On January *,2013 I made a transaction with this agency. The account number is [redacted]. They charged $73.26 to my charge account. I was suppose to receive 33 issues of Bassmaster, 24 issues of Mens Journal, 12 issues of Natural Health and the real kicker was the $300 gas card. I blame myself for falling for the gas card thing but it is September and I have not received one issue of one of these magazines. They said it will take up to 120 days, well that time has passed and they will not return my calls. The number I have for them is ###-###-####. I have gone through the magazines that I wanted to renew my subscription and I just want my account credited for the $73.26.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back and no magazines sent to my home.

Sincerely,

Review: On October **, 2013 I received a call saying it was The Enquirer Magazine. Offering a year subscription for $119.23.I have taken this magazine for several years. I gave them my credit card information. a couple of weeks later I get a letter from the Magazine Agency saying one year would be added to my subscription with The National Enquirer with in 30 to 120 days. This has never been added to my subscription. I have called twenty times and only get a recording. I have emailed them about forty times with no replies to my emails. After waiting the 120 days it was to late to cancel my credit card payment to them. Are there any thing else I can do to get my money back from these people. It should be against the law to say your with one company when you are not. And taking peoples money and not doing anything.Desired Settlement: I would love to get my money back.

Review: After phone solicitation, payment of $71.64 was made May **, 2013 to Magazine Agency for 3 year subscription to Charisma Magazine. My account #[redacted]. After two emails to [redacted] and a phone call to ###-###-#### leaving requested information I have received no response. Now when I attempted to call the same number, I get a "Thank you for calling, good bye" message after dozens of rings. A prior phone call verified that my order was processed, but could take 8-16 weeks to be received. I personally contacted Charisma magazine and learned that they had no subscription processed in my name and that their rate for three years is $39.00. In the same phone solicitation, I was promised a R$300 gasoline/grocery saving by sending a form to Gift Fulfillment Services, [redacted]. Of course there has been no response to that form ([redacted]) either.Desired Settlement: When I got no response except from Charisma Magazine, I was advised to contact Discover to dispute the charges since I had not received the product. Discover advised me to contact them again since time had elapsed since the transaction. What else can do? I just don't want others to be taken in. I have learned my lesson!
