We are very pleased with our basement remodel done by Matrix Basement Systems! The whole process was seamless due to the scheduling of various tradesmen by Matrix - all were friendly, efficient and very professional.
Our carpenter crew - Ramiro and Oscar -were punctual and happy to answer any questions. They had a professional work ethic and their craftsmanship was outstanding!
Jay completed the minor issues and touch ups on our final punch list and was efficient and obviously well qualified in all technical areas.
We’ve received many compliments on our “new” basement and highly recommend Matrix!

The Matrix team finished our basement for us and their service was excellent. From the first consultation to the final inspection, they were professional and timely. We were given advance notice of every step to the process, and it was clear that they value us as a customer. I would highly recommend them if you are looking to finish or remodel your basement!

Matrix was overall great! They finished their part of the basement very quickly and did a nice job. I was worried it wouldn't get done before summer was over and they finished their portion(which was mainly everything except paint, flooring, and ceiling) in about 1 1/2 months! Nice job!

Matrix Basement Systems performed an excellent complete renovation of our basement space. The basement had never been renovated for extended use since the 1970s, and Matrix brought in a team of competent craftsmen to make the space livable and comfortable year-round. A cement storage room was also turned into a usable space with flooring and soffit ceiling. We are very pleased with the outcome of the work!!

Working with Matrix Basement Solutions was an amazing experience! They were precise and very knowledgeable about everything that I required for my tiny basement. They were able to realize all of my ideas, needs and plans for maximizing the space available and providing a detailed blueprint before the work began. The final product was beyond my expectations and I have received endless compliments about how amazing the end result looks like. The exposed painted ceiling with crown moulding was the biggest hit! Best part of working with Matrix is that the entire team is readily available and accesible via phone or text. The project went a little longer than promised and I did have to stay on top of the schedule but I highly recomend them and love my final outcome.

In April of 2013 I contracted through representative Joshua *** to have Matrix Basement Systems install their wall system and paid $2,000 to Matrix as a down payment.

In May of 2013 I added four vinyl replacement windows to the project and paid an additional down payment of $442.59 to Matrix (Total down payments = $2,442.59).

It was explained to me by Matrix that I had to clear out the entire basement to move forward and could take all the time I needed.

In March of 2014 my mother suffered a massive stroke, I informed Matrix of the situation and was informed back I could take all the time I needed to get through this life event, even if it took years.

I had many phone calls back and forth checking in with Matrix and have notes and voicemails where they did the same for me.

In June of 2018 I called Matrix to say the basement was cleared and ready for the installation. Matt *** was sent out to verify measurements as a replacement to Joshua *** who had been let go from the company.

Matt was very exited to get things going as he verified measurements and appeared to be taking down a lot of notes.

Matt then informed me that Matrix no longer uses a wall system to finish basements and their new method would cost $15,465.00 (without the windows) vs. the original $8,412.36 (plus $4,425.93 for the addition of windows) quoted to me. Matt handed me a fresh contract and left me in shock not offering any further discussion.

I attempted to contact Matrix by phone, email and priority mail with delivery confirmation. I did not receive any response to email or physical mailing and when I called multiple times I was put into company voicemail by a receptionist and never had my calls returned.

Highly recommended, great service, knowledgeable workers and sales crew that are very accommodating to your needs! Basement project was done on time with few delays or issues. The project would have gone no where if not for the qualified expertise, professionalism, and motivation of Jay ***. Ben and Rudy did a great job of framing out the basement, as Anthony Jarka kept the project on track and running professionally. Victorian Designs Painting did an excellent job on the paint as did Frank and his crew with the electrical. All in all, great experience and highly recommended! Thanks Matrix!

Matrix fraudulently processed a contract that was cancelled. The loan was through GreenSky lending company for over $23,000. They have not reversed the loan causing interest to build and transfer to collections. Numerous attempts have been made to contact the person in charge however no return calls are been received for a manager.

Maitri just finished our basement and didn’t outstanding job the contractors were professional and on time and we were always told about the schedule we love our basement and would refer them to any of your friends or family

We have uncompleted/poor work that needs to be addressed. The company specifically the owner will not call us back and they have been paid in full.

This company does not stand behind their product or installation. I bought it through a "factory authorized" distributor and had it installed by their "factory trained" installers. When problems arouse they claimed it was the installers fault and when I had water damage in their "water proof" walls they claimed it wasn't covered in the warranty. If you read the warranty they can get out of any problem by blaming it on something that is not covered. For what it cost me I really expected them to actually take responsibility and fix the issues. I would never do business with this company again and I would highly recommend anyone looking to get their basement finished look some where else.

Began my basement remodel project with Matrix on 12/27/17. Upon Matrix completing the final design, ordering materials and obtaining a building permit, actual construction began in April 2018. Given an estimated completion timeframe of six weeks, the project has, to date, exceeded six months in duration. Causes given by Matrix for delay range from unavailability of work crews, back-ordered/reordered materials (i.e. windows, door/frame, access panel door and hand-rail/ballusters for stairway) and, most recently, Project Manager and Designer of Record personnel changes. Albeit a longer process than anticipated, Matrix's quality of work has been acceptable. The project is essentially more than 90% complete, with only a few outstanding punch list items to meet contract scope of work and building code requirements. Following Village of Libertyville inspection on 11/2/18, each of the Prime's subcontractors readily completed their respective punch list work items. The balance of outstanding punch list items fall under the purview of Matrix, the Prime Contractor. To date, Matrix workers have been unresponsive in completing said outstanding punch list items; nor has its Principle or (newly appointed) Project Manager returned any of my several phone calls/emails (since 11/28/18) to discuss a viable plan for doing so. Matrix' lack of cooperation in this matter is causing a delay to an already overdue completion date, and has impeded issuance of Village's Certificate of Occupancy for this project.

Matrix did an awesome job with our basement project. The contractors were great with communicating and keeping us in the loop. The final product is exactly what we wanted! Matrix did a great job to ensure we were happy with the final product and went out of way to ensure the project was done correctly.

Matrix Basement Systems doesn't want to repair the cracks on the drywall (MGO skins) which they have installed on my basement. They said that the warranty for the labor, which is 1 yr, had already expired. They installed drywalls (MGO skins) on 2015 and on several occasions cracks appeared on different areas on the drywall. When me and my wife signed the agreement in 2015, Mr. Timothy ***, Matrix representative told us that the warranty was non-prorated warranty e..g. mold development - 50 yrs. ; Laminations and finishes - 50 yrs. ; Ceiling Tiles - 10 yrs. ; & Labor warranty - 1 yr. (seams, trim,plumbing & electrical). So, I am confident & positive that their materials (MGO skins) which they used are not of good quality as it keeps on cracking and the supplies/materials that they applied are of poor quality. I am seeking that they should repair/fix the cracks on the walls without asking me to sign a waiver that in case something happens again in the future they will no longer fix the cracks.

Matrix basement solutions did a great job of giving us piece of mind from beginning until the end of construction. They were very accurate with the timing of their work, and everything worked out great. I would recommend doing business with them to anyone interested in finishing their basement. The final product looked amazing

I had Matrix finish my basement about 4 years ago. Recently, we had a pipe burst causing some damage. Following our insurance quote, we called Matrix to provide an estimate for repairs. The first appointment was canceled 1 hour prior due to "unforeseen circumstances". After a week and escalations, someone came out to review the damage for the estimate. Originally, they told me $50 an hour and wanted me to agree based on just that...In texting with Matrix, they gave me the quote total which was far below the insurance estimate. In asking to see a written estimate, I have been given pushback and responses that I should just trust them as the guy doing the work has been there for years. I am not quite certain in what world anyone would agree to contractor work without a written scope and signed agreement. I don't do business on a handshake and I don't have a lot of confidence in the professionalism and trustworthiness of the organization. It shouldn't be this difficult to work with a company that boasts quality and customer service. I would suggest looking elsewhere for your remodeling needs.

Matrix did a great job from the first time I filled out the inquiry form on line. They did just what they said they would. The product is a superior quality. It's the best room in our house.

800 Sq ft basement remodel. Basically only walls, ceiling. Electrical was too expensive thru Matrix, Pergo floor- full bathroom - separate contractor.
What I expected wasa 4/6 wk project but dragged on from Mid Feb thru June. One crew was asked to be replaced. About 3 weeks worth of drywall finishing had to be redone, but Matrix did step up, bring in a great couple of knowledgeable guys to ultimately resolve open issues. The Process was frustrating and my final cost for basically walls and ceiling was far too high.
