[redacted] took final exam and

received failing score on 03/12/2015.  She retook the final exam and

received a score of A with 34 errors on May 1, 2015.  An email was sent to

her indicating for her to send me her mailing address to receive the certificate.

She sent that a few...

days after.  We sent her certificate to the address

she told us at that time.  Her only contact with me following

that was on May 28th.  She indicated her interest in working

with Med Trans and indicated she had not yet received her certificate.  My

response was the following:  “…I have hired several new MTs

over the last couple of months who were initial top grads.  Currently,

however, I am in need of some MTs with more experience as it is necessary for

me to maintain a balance of new grads and experienced transcriptionists.

I will keep your resume in an active status for six months and will definitely

keep you in mind as business increases or changes. “I did not hear back from her from

that point on so was unaware there was a situation.  I have not received

any phone call attempts from her at any point.  It was not until November

that I heard she had still not received her certificate when she began

contacting Tina.  We will be happy to send out another certificate if she

confirms her mailing address, as this may be the issue.  There is certainly no refund due, as she has completed the course and received all materials

Thank you for your response.  It is unfortunate that I had to go through the Revdex.com to receive such a simple explanation, but I hope that future communications will be much better and that I can serve your company as an employee in the near future.

I began the transcription course March 28, 2016. Tracy B[redacted] was my first line of contact, and from day one, Tracy was so helpful, kind, and compassionate. She provided me with encouragement and excellent information. Tracy has been there every step of the way. She has gone above and beyond to ensure that I have gotten all of my course materials, and that I am prepared for each step and the final exam. Tracy has also volunteered to look over my resume and serve as a reference for future job opportunities. This process would not have been what it was without the help and genuine concern of Tracy B[redacted].

The first final exam that this student took had 328 errors, which is my point.  We tend to hire the ones who do well on the final the first time over those who take multiple attempts.  That is not to say that we won’t hire, but if we have some who did extremely well the first time through, we will hire those first.  The medical transcription field requires a very accurate, intelligent approach and it is imperative to our business to hire the best that we can.
As for the number of applications applying through a job advertisement, that is extremely irrelevant, as a good portion of those applications have no medical transcription experience.  We are a medium sized company and have an average of 40-50 transcriptionists who work for us.  Of those 40-50, 96% of them are from our course, which was my statement prior.  We hire from within first before adding on from other experienced people.  However, we will keep this student in mind for future employment, assuming she is interested.  In addition, companies hire our graduates nationwide.
Thanks for closing this case promptly.
Tell us why here...

Please do not improperly characterize my exam. Here is an exact excerpt of the email I received with my exam results:
"Congratulations!  You have successfully completed Medical Transcription Made Easy!  Attached you will find the Final Scoring Sheet.  There are samples of some of the errors made.  Please review this as it will help you with your further understanding of medical transcription.  Your final score was a B with 57 errors." 57 errors is much different than the 328 errors you claim I had.
Additionally, the comment that "approximately 96% of our transcriptionists are hired from our course." seems to be misleading (unless I am misinterpreting your response), as I believe you are trying to indicate that you hire 96% of those who complete your course which seems highly unlikely. It seems rather that of the transcriptionists you hire, 96% have completed your course rather than another training course. Please correct me if this is wrong, but if the former is what you are falsely implying, people need to know this. Per [redacted] 1024 people have applied for the listed position. I am sure many do not follow through or do not successfully complete the course, but given the number of applicants I imagine you must have a big operation. I would be curious to know your size staff, how many people you have hired in the last year, and how many you have retained for 6+ months.

I am a Med Trans, Inc. course graduate and now an employee. I have been with Med Trans, Inc. for 16 months and have enjoyed my time with the company. I have a very supportive, knowledgeable boss and flexible hours. The course was a good investment for me. I feel I have learned so much in a short period of time. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to start a career in medical transcription.

Why only 1 star? It seems like every post is a 1 star whether good or bad. Interesting.
Thanks

We had a student by the name of [redacted], who purchased our home study program and completed it.  She then took the final exam, first in December of 2013 and she failed.  She chose to take the final exam again, and again failed the test.  Both times she has received email...

confirmation that she failed the exam, which was done within a reasonable time period.  Her husband (at least we assume it is her husband) called threatening and abusive, stating that the second final had not been graded in a timely manner.  After research it appears she was sent an email within a few weeks of taking the final, but he claims she did not received it.  We also never received any notification through the email that her email was not received.  However, we sent it again at his request.  Obviously, with the facts of this case, there is no required refund.  She purchased the product and received all that she purchased.

In addition, if he continues to threaten our employees and disparage our company, we will file complaints and restraining orders against him.  It is my understanding that he is impersonating a police officer as well, so the proper authorities will be notified.

Thanks for promptly closing this case.

I see her address on the letter now and will forward a THIRD certificate to her tomorrow.  The problem therefore is resolved.

You guys sound extremely sassy in all your comments.
Pretty professional, aren't you?

We have such a discounted price for the course and the student received a $25.00, so normally we do not waive the final exam.  However, since the student had a misunderstanding of this, I will waive the final for her.  [redacted] will be in touch with her as to how to receive the...

final.Thanks, [redacted]

The abovementioned student purchased our digital download option on our website and was well informed that all digital options were non-refundable.  I have enclosed just a few of the emails that were given to the student, etc.  When she emailed us complaining about...

the diagrams not being legible, we offered to send her new copies, etc., but she just simply said “No, I just want my money back.”  It is apparent that she does not want to go through the trouble to take the course, but at this point there is nothing else I can do for her.  She has the download on her computer and purchased the book, which just like any textbook, once purchased and downloaded, cannot be returned.

This is a copy of the email and new charts that our student liaison sent to her:

Obviously no refund is due and I have encouraged her to study the program if she is still interested, as we have been hiring graduates regularly, approximately 15 in the last few weeks!  We are growing rapidly and always interested in our qualified graduates.

Thank you for closing this case.

President

This course was excellent and the people I worked with were very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into the field of transcription. I have a couple of different job opportunities that I am considering, but the field is wide open and growing. Also definitely the most reasonably priced program in the country, great value.

This student is rambling with her responses.  She can’t seem to decide what to complain about, but with that said, her main issue seems to be the refund policy, which was verbally explained to her by the representative.  If she was concerned about having a refund, she could have purchased the text version and then had a three day refund window.  In addition, I am insulted by her insinuation of the course not being professional.  We have used this course (with some modifications) over the past 15 years and continue to produce quality graduates from it and most definitely hire almost all of our top graduates.  In  fact, we have hired over 15 just in the past two months!  We are not a scam operation and it is apparent by the low price of our course that we are not out to make money on this program.  The main

purpose of the program is to provide us with quality transcriptionists, which is very difficult to find from other programs and schools.

Again, just like an [redacted] book purchase, this course was downloaded and if she has trouble reading anything we have or will provide appropriate hard copies or digital copies to her for clarity.

Thanks for closing this case promptly.

This is a review for a specific Med Trans employee, Recruiter: Danielle M[redacted]. I am a 35 year RN, highly experience and have "burned out" from Hospital Corporate America. As I do have a diverse range of medical terminology.......I made the decision to enroll into a program to become a Medical Transcriptionist. I spent many hours researching programs, talking to recruiters and by far, Med Trans recruiter, Danielle M[redacted] presented with total professionalism. She spent many emails, telephone calls and patience while I did my research. I never felt pressured. Today I made my choice to train with Med Trans. Anyone out there, save yourself time, as Med Trans is by far the best company. Danielle's email address is printed on their employment page. She is a delight to work with. Sincerely,
Trisha RN

Re: Complaint against Med Trans, Inc. ([redacted])

I am contacting you to file a complaint against the above-mentioned company. I will provide the reasons below, and I also have documentation I can provide if necessary.

I was contacted back in the spring by [redacted] ([redacted]), owner of Med Trans, Inc., in regards to her at home course to learn Medical Transcription. Medical Transcription was a long-time field of interest to me, as I have a medical background and am an excellent typist, and at the time of her call, I was out of work, and still am, after being laid off from a job in December 2013.

After much thought and consideration, I decided to pursue taking her course and becoming certified. I ordered the course from [redacted] ([redacted]) at Med Trans, who was quite encouraging about the prospect of being employed by Med Trans once I completed the course. I paid $462.00 for the digital version of the course (charged to my credit card on 5/3/14) which I then used my printer/ink to print out and put into three binders. I also ordered the necessary equipment to complete the course (headset, foot pedal and software) from [redacted] on 5/6/14 for $190.07.

After completing the course, I then had to pay $55.00 (charged to my credit card on 7/18/14) to take the test and get my certification. I had to wait six weeks to get my test results and I was told that I got an “A” on the test. Although I was not considered a “top graduate” with less than 30 errors (I got 35 errors), I was assured by [redacted] of Med Trans that “A graduate with an “A” always stays in my file of possible hires. Currently, we are not hiring, but are on the verge of that status changing. We are just about at the point of needing to hire a couple of more people at Med Trans. I will keep your resume flagged as one who is interested and as soon as we have some availability, I will contact you”. I still have the e-mail from [redacted] stating that if you would need me to provide that to you.

As a side note, on the Med Trans website, under the tab for employment, it states “If you have successfully completed our medical transcription course, received your certificate of completion, are based in the U.S.A., and are interested in joining the Med Trans team working from home as a medical transcriptionist, please complete the form below (which I did with no response). We will contact you if/when a position as a medical transcriptionist becomes available”.

I have never been contacted by Med Trans with opportunities for employment with them, and last Tuesday, December 2, 2014, I decided to reach out to [redacted] (owner) again via e-mail to inquire about employment with them or suggestions for finding employment as a medical transcriptionist with other companies who may be willing to hire new grads, as I have found that most transcription companies are not willing to hire new grads, and those that are require that the course was completed through an [redacted] approved school, which Med Trans is not.

I received no response from [redacted] (and still have not as of this date) and the next evening, Wednesday, December 3, 2014, while searching online for jobs, I came across an ad on [redacted], from Med Trans, advertising for entry level medical transcriptionists. The name associated with this particular ad was [redacted] ([redacted]) with Med Trans. I called the number provided for [redacted] and spoke with her, explaining my situation and informing her that I had sent an e-mail to [redacted] the previous day. [redacted] stated that [redacted] usually responds promptly and she recommended that if I did not hear back from [redacted] by Friday of last week (December 5, 2014), to give [redacted] a call, and [redacted] provided me with [redacted] direct number ([redacted]).

In the meantime, I went ahead and applied for the entry level medical transcriptionist position through [redacted] (I then found several listings for this position starting back on November 5, 2014 and again as recent as December 7, 2014, and I have some of the listings with dates saved if you would need copies) and after applying, I received two different confirmation e-mails from Med Trans in regards to my application, the second e-mail from [redacted] letting me know that if I had experience, I would be considered for employment in the next few days and her number was included for any questions.

On Thursday, December 4, 2014, I called [redacted] and left a message, again explaining that I had taken their course, passed the test, and was inquiring about employment. To date, I have not received a return call from [redacted].

On Friday, December 5, 2014, since I had not heard back from [redacted] (owner) via e-mail, I did as instructed per [redacted], and called [redacted] and left her a message, again explaining the situation. At the end of the day on Friday, after no response from [redacted] via e-mail or phone, I decided to call [redacted] again, since I had spoken with her two days prior, and I also got her voicemail this time, and left a message to tell her I had not yet heard back from [redacted]. I also asked [redacted], in my message, why I wouldn’t have been contacted for employment when they had openings, and also asked her why no one gets back to me.

To date, I have not received any return calls or e-mail responses from [redacted], [redacted] or [redacted].

Although I did not purchase my equipment (headset, foot pedal and software) from Med Trans, Inc., the total amount of money spent for the equipment and to complete the course and receive my certification came to $707.07, and if at all possible, I would like to request at least a partial refund. I would never have invested the money (putting over $700 on a credit card) had I known that Med Trans does not follow through on their word.

I also hope that the information I’ve provided here will make others aware of this company so that they don’t make the same mistake I did.

If you need any further information from me, including any documented e-mails, or if you have any further questions for me, I can be reached at [redacted] or via e-mail at [redacted].

Thank you for your time regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I am requesting at least a partial refund from Med Trans based on the information I've submitted above. Thank you.

Response:

This is in response to the above named student’s comments:As you are aware, Med Trans, Inc. has been training and hiringtranscriptionists for over 24 years now and we continue to hire our topgraduates regularly. In fact, 95% of thetranscriptionists who work for Med Trans have been through our trainingprogram. With that said, we cannotguarantee that the moment they graduate, we will have a position for them. Sometimes it takes weeks or even longer tomatch up a top grad with a position. Wemarket constantly and needs change daily. As far as the [redacted] advertisements, we have acontractual agreement with [redacted] to run a certain amount of ads permonth, per year and this cannot be altered based on our needs for the moment ina given month. We are members of [redacted], which is simply an organization thatmakes money off transcriptionists as members, schools, etc. We do not conform to their “accreditation”standards, as our course is a home based program that is very flexible to thestudent. If we were to accept theirmethods for their accreditation, we would have to increase our cost of theprogram at least five times, as it requires student/teacher ratios, etc. I specifically wrote this program to hiretranscriptionists and have strived for years to keep the cost as low aspossible, which I have done, in order for people to easily get into this careerwithout a significant outlay of money. In sum[redacted], this student has received everything she paidfor, has completed the course and should continue to pursue her career as atranscriptionist. Just like any career, she needs to market herself and achieve employment. She is not entitled to any refund.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Way to CYA [redacted]! Are you raising your children to scam people, too? You and your staff do not even have the professional courtesy to respond to e-mails and phone calls regarding employment. No surprise, really, since the course itself is not professionally done either. An expensive lesson learned by me, but at least I can sleep at night. I'm not sure how you can. Enjoy your holidays spending all the money you've scammed out of people.

Response:

This is in regard to the abovementioned student again. She has becomequite bitter for no apparent reason. Wehave communicated with her via email, phone, etc. and this is the last emailcorrespondence that I had with my supervising transcriptionist, [redacted]. “I will try to contact her today – she was atop grad and I’d love to have her as soon as we get a few more accountsin. Need to hire back two that I let go first – she would be next inline.”With that said, if she is patientwe would likely hire her soon. Often wehave new clients in the beginning of the year, and in fact, have five new onesthat will be joining us in January. However, by her complaining, she is certainly not helping hercause. As a review of this last year, wehave hired 20 new transcriptionists in the last few months. I certainly expect a full apologyfor her harsh words, as we are and have always been a legitimate business thathires our graduates on a regular basis. This can be proven by the current staff we have. I also want it noted that we provide very lowcost educational and make very little money on the home study program, as itwas designed to train graduates to work for us and other transcriptioncompanies in a more competent light. Fora decade prior to writing the course, I tried to hire transcriptionists fromother schools without much success. Thatis the very reason I wrote the practical course, which has prepared many forthis field and we have maintained the lowest priced course in the country! It is professional and thorough and if shecontinues to slander our name, legal recourse will be taken. I truly hope she will use herskills, as she did well on the final and likely would have been a wonderfulasset for Med Trans in the near future. However,it does not appear that she really wants to work, just have the education forfree. Again, she has the ability to lookfor work, but has to put herself out there. We will always endorse her as a top graduate and would certainly hireher as well. Thank you for dismissing thisridiculous case and I look forward to moving on through the next year and againhiring more of our qualified graduates.

I am currently taking the course and enjoying it and find it very interesting. My main concern is the customer service I have received. The recruiter Danielle was awesome and very helpful. But I was informed to no longer contact her. I have contacted two people now regarding my name completely mispelled. I didn't want it to affect anything in the future if I do obtain employment with the company. I received a very unprofessional email asking what my issue was and never received verification that the problem was resolved. This course is very expensive and I'm taking a leap of faith on this career path and am hoping to achieve employment but I worry if the customer service is at this unprofessional level.

Review: Bought Medical Transcription Course for $499.00 from Ms. [redacted]. Email: [redacted]t, she also offered to provide proctored exam, and included it in the cost.

MedTransInc. has failed to keep their part of the agreement. She assigned a [redacted] to me, but she has failed to contact me upon any followup, and to ensure

my progress. I have contacted this company on several occasions, but got no response. I have chosen another career and have passed the exam. Please help

me resolve this issue asap! At no time, was I told that I could not get a refund!

My daughter is a nurse, so I have managed to save on the cost of buying books from them, I have pharmacology, Taber's Medical Dictionary, Terminology books,

etc. I have completed this course, but they refuse to speak with me or email me, or call me. I have tired, and I have had to move on.

Manual states: I will be given a final exam, assessment of knowledge, and satisfactory results, and receive a certificate of completion.Desired Settlement: Refund of $499.00 from course: Medical Transcription Made Easy!

Response:

There has been no communication with me or my student adviser, [redacted], with the student since April 2011. At no time did she attempt to contact either one of us by phone or email to get assistance. The only correspondence we have had with her since purchasing the course was her receipt of confirmation that she had gotten all the materials and instructions needed to begin training. It sounds as though she is requesting to take the final exam, which she is of course entitled to. I will be more than happy, should she desire to, walk her through that process and help her get started.

I feel she is somewhat confused about the names of people who work with Med Trans. [redacted] would be her student adviser and I of course am the owner.

I certainly hope she decides to pursue this wonderful career and complete her training.

Thanks, [redacted]

Med Trans, Inc.

Review: I applied via a career/jobs website for a position as a medical transcriptionist with Med Trans, Inc. This job posting turned out to actually be a way to obtains names and solicit individuals to purchase a medical transcription "course" with the company. I was aggressively solicited via daily phone calls and emails by "*" with Med Trans, Inc. After several days of communications which consisted of phone calls and emails, I purchased the training course with a verbal and written (via email) confirmation with "*" that the $462.00 fee I was charged would include the course plus final examination. I asked her specifically over the phone if there would be additional fees or surprise charges that I could expect, to which she said "no". After purchasing the course for the agreed-upon "discounted" price, I began to receive emails from a "**" instructing me to continue any further communications with her. I completed the course in a couple of weeks' time and then informed "**" that I would like to complete the final exam, at which time she informed me that I would be required to pay [redacted] 00 processing fee. This was a surprise to me, as per my previous communications and emails from "*", she'd indicated and stated that $462.00 was the only amount I'd be required to pay to Med Trans, Inc. I emailed her as well as Nance with documentation of previous communications. "**" insisted that I would not receive any additional "discounts". I only ask that my initial agreement with "*" and Med Trans, Inc. be honored.Desired Settlement: I would like to take the Med Trans, Inc. final examination under the conditions and requirements as outlined between myself and "*", i.e. waived $55.00 processing fee, as it was specified to me that the final exam was included in the $462.00 that I paid to Med Trans, Inc. initially.

If this is not possible, then I request a full refund (credit to my cardholder account) for the $462.00 fee that was initially charged, as I did not receive all products and services initially specified and agreed upon.

Response:

We have such a discounted price for the course and the student received a $25.00, so normally we do not waive the final exam. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I appreciate them resolving to provide what their representative offered and specified would be included in my purchase. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Review: I was in touch with [redacted] for over a month and she was telling me what great area is medical transcription and about the course. I found out about the company due to a job opening in a website, saying that it was an entry level position, no prior experience and free of charge. Then I got an email from [redacted], who told me about the program they have, and that it is a requirement to work on this field. As I am not currently working, because my son had some issues and I have to stay at home with him, I decided to give it a try. I spoke to some people and they helped me to get all the money I needed to buy the course (yes, because it is only free of charge if you work for the company for 6 months - if they hire you). Well, so I bought it through email, I decided for the download option because it was going to be faster. No one never told me that this option was non refundable and I never got to the website where they say it's non refundable. I just gave my card number and they did everything else. I never put anything in the cart, checked any box agreeing that it was non refundable.

The course is really bad, and I just have the courage to see the first workbook. It has some diagrams, all of them illegible. It has a lot of pages with words used in which type of practice, words that I could get on a medical dictionary. So I am not satisfied with the program, I didnt even finish the first workbook.

I asked for a refund and I was told that I cannot get a refund in digital downloads. But again, no one told me that, I have never got the chance to see any terms and condition to know that before. I am not going to take the course and I cannot afford to lose this money. When I asked nicely for my refund, the answer they gave me was no refund in digital downloads - thanks again and best to you.

Business

Response:

The abovementioned student purchased our digital download option on our website and was well informed that all digital options were non-refundable. I have enclosed just a few of the emails that were given to the student, etc. When she emailed us complaining about the diagrams not being legible, we offered to send her new copies, etc., but she just simply said “No, I just want my money back.” It is apparent that she does not want to go through the trouble to take the course, but at this point there is nothing else I can do for her. She has the download on her computer and purchased the book, which just like any textbook, once purchased and downloaded, cannot be returned.

So, that lady [redacted] emailed me, 3 days after the purchase a welcome letter and she told me that all digital downloads are final sale.

All I am saying is, I did not have a warning before they ran my card. And as I already stated, they ran my card through the email, I did not go to their website to buy it (where they let you know that is final sale).

I should have been told that before. That is all I am saying.

It has absolutely nothing to do to "I dont want to go all the trouble", as stated by this company. I am a pharmacist with a masters

degree. I like to study and I love challenges. The course is really bad, that's all. It seems that I was called lazy. I don't like the way they handle their answers.

I want my money back because I am not happy with the course and as Nobody told me before the purchase that I could not have a refund, I feel betrayed, fooled.

Response:

This course is not accredited. They take way too long to get back to people regarding the overly long test. During the course, you have no contact with anyone. It is self taught. I took the test three times. On the third test, I went word by word checking each spelling, etc. They still said I failed. They do not give any money back that was spent on the course and do not prepare people adequately for the field.

Review: My wife, [redacted] (Now [redacted], we married Jan 17 2014) contacted Med Trans Inc to purchase their medical transcription certification program. We paid $506.96 on 08-21-13 for the program and required materials, transaction #11011. [redacted] completed the program and submitted her test, for a fee of $55. [redacted] was notified via Email ([email protected]) that she failed for "too many errors" on 12-10-13, which was 3 weeks after the date she was supposed to have the results by. [redacted] Emailed Med Trans 2 times requesting her results, after the date given by MedTrans. as the notification date.

We paid another $55 to re-submit the typing test on 12-16-13. [redacted] was told she would have the test results no later than 02-10-14. We have never received any results.

I spoke to "Mary" with Med Trans on 02-27-14. I explained the problem to her. She has never provided any test results or returned the money we paid her, also she has stopped returning my calls. I have been completely professional with her and I now believe this company is acting illegally.Desired Settlement: I would like our original payment of $506.96 and the 2 separate payments of $55 returned immediately. If the Revdex.com determines there are any criminal charges, [redacted] and I would agree to file criminal reports accordingly.

Response:

We had a student by the name of [redacted], who purchased our home study program and completed it. She then took the final exam, first in December of 2013 and she failed. She chose to take the final exam again, and again failed the test. Both times she has received email confirmation that she failed the exam, which was done within a reasonable time period.
