Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.I investigated this complaint regarding an account placed with Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC forthird party collections by our client [redacted] Savings Bank. This account was resolved for less than the fullbalance on November 28, 2017. Mercantile...

did not report this account to the credit bureaus. Mr. [redacted]would need to contact [redacted] Savings Bank at ###-###-####, ext. [redacted] regarding credit reporting. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.Sincerely,Daniel F[redacted]Chief Compliance Officer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.  Regards, [redacted] Hello, does this mean that it will be removed from my credit? And I would like something in writing stating that this matter has been addressed and that it will be deleted. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,  [redacted] This company called my co-signer and I daily threatened to take his property. At this point we contacted a bank to get a loan to pay off the account. We made a settlement agreement of $50000. The company then  charged 61,000. After the payment was made they would no longer communicate and said they are only legal required to tell me so much and would not fix the problem. They payed [redacted] the $50000. I was then taxed on the "write off" and payed the IRS even though we didn't  pay the write off amount

We further investigated this complaint and determined that our office processed a payment on 1/31/15 for $183.33. Our bank informed us on 3/12/15 that the payment was returned by Mr. [redacted]'s bank.  According to Mr. [redacted]'s February 2015 bank statement, there appears to have been an issue with an  overdraft on 1/28/15 which may have contributed to the payment being returned by his bank. Mr. [redacted]  might want to follow up with his bank to determine why the payment submitted by Mercantile on 1/31/15  was returned.  Since Mercantile was not notified of the returned transaction until 3/12/15, the payment scheduled for  2/28/15 was processed as scheduled. A total of 5 payments were processed and applied to the balance. The return of the 1/31/15 payment resulted in the settlement not being fulfilled. The account was subsequently recalled by our client, [redacted]g.We have contacted Galaxy and they agreed to return the account to Mercantile. As a courtesy, Mercantile is willing to honor the settlement, despite the 1/31/15 payment not being made. A settled in full letter will be mailed to Mr. [redacted] this month to [redacted]. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.  Daniel F[redacted]   Chief Compliance Officer

I investigated this complaint regarding an account placed with our office for third party collections by our client SUNY Buffalo State College. Mercantile Adjustment Bureau does not purchase debt and all interest is accrued by our clients. Our office spoke to Ms. [redacted] on November 10, 2016 and...

Ms. [redacted] stated that she would be paying the account in full and would look into obtaining a loan to pay the balance within the next two weeks because she was applying to another school. Ms. De Marie then called Mercantile on August 18, 2017 and stated that she that she wanted information on the balance and that she wanted to pay the balance in full and would be calling back within the week. Ms. [redacted] called Mercantile on August 23, 2017 and requested a settlement on the balance. Mercantile advised Ms. [redacted] that our client only authorizes Mercantile to offer a settlement of a 50% reduction of the interest, which our client accrues, which would be a reduction of $90 to a settlement of $1, 752.18. Mercantile offered to submit Ms. [redacted]'s settlement request of$1,450 to our client for approval. On August 24, 2017, Ms. [redacted] called Mercantile and was advised that her settlement request of$1,450 was not accepted by our client. Ms. [redacted] stated that she would need to call back. On August 25, 2017, Ms. [redacted] called Mercantile and was advised that the settlement of$1,452.18 was available until August 31,2017 and Ms. [redacted] stated that she would call back. On September 6, 2017, Ms. [redacted] called Mercantile and was advised again that [redacted] wanted to pay the settlement and was advised that  Mercantile had to verify with our client whether the settlement was still valid since it was not received by August 31, 2017. On September 7, 2017, Ms. [redacted] called Mercantile and stated that she spoke to our client and they advised her that Mercantile owns the account and accrues interest. Ms [redacted] was advised that that is not correct. The current client-approved settlement amount as of today is $1,752.18.We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Sincerely,  Daniel [redacted]  Chief Compliance Officer Mercantile Adjustment
