As explained previously, the follow up call was made to Ms. [redacted] to explain the situation and there was no prior notification that Ms. [redacted] did not want calls at work. Mercantile does not add interest or any other fees. Any interest or fees which are assessed prior to or during collections are done through Buffalo State College in accordance with the tuition agreement, which Ms. [redacted] agreed to. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.   While they have removed my name from their list, my complaint is that collections agencies are using robo calls to pursue debtors and uninvolved people such as myself are targeted.  If I had not made the call to the company how may more calls would I have received?   There are similar complaints regarding the disturbance of robo calls from many people who are not responsible and yet are the target of these calls.  This is a nuisance and I don't believe automated calling should be allowed in these circumstances.  Regards, [redacted]

Mercantile contacted the client on July 23, 20 I 5 to request an interest reduction, as Mercantiledoes not have the authority to do so without authorization. The client responded that only $1 00 in interestcould be waived. Mercantile spoke to Ms. [redacted]-[redacted] on July 25, 2015 to infonn her of thecollege's offer. Ms. [redacted]-[redacted] accused our office of lying to her. I investigated this complaint regarding an account placed in our office by our client [redacted].Our office received Mr. [redacted]' account on July 13, 2016. Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC sent Mr.[redacted]' an initial letter on July 14, 2016 to the address provided to us by our client,...

stating that the accountwas assigned to our office by our client for collections. A copy of the letter has been attached. Mercantilefirst reported this account to the credit bureaus as a collection item on September 30, 2016. Our clientnotified our office on January 4, 2017 that the account was paid in full, paid directly to them, and ouroffice reported the account as paid in full to the credit bureaus on January 25, 2017 and sent Mr. [redacted] aletter stating that payment was received and the account was paid in full. Oh yes, we were calling you regarding amatter with (client's name]. Just for security purposes, to make sure that I am talking to the right person, canyou verify your date of birth for me please?"  MS. [redacted]: "[date of birth provided]"AGENT: "Ok, and can you either verify the current mailing address or the last four of your social, whicheveryou prefer?MS. We werecalling regarding the [client's name] account that was recently placed in our office. This looks like this was inreference to the auto loan that you had taken out with them in October 2006. Right now there is a deficiencybalance owing on the loan and you have $7,539.94. I do see that you were making month payments on theaccount for a while and it looks like the last payment that was made on it was on January 3, 2017. They justwanted us to get in touch with you to find out what the intentions are and beyond at this point."MS.
