Merchants Reporting Service of Maine, Inc. Reviews (48)

The attached document is not from our company. There are multiple companies in Texas that help homeowners file for the Designation of Homestead. Thanks.

This homeowner also emailed our company directly.  During this communication we determined they did not use our company's service. Thanks

satisfactory to me.Though the 2 companies are similar in name, by comparing the account number on the deposit stamp from the check in question, this company determined that it was actually one of the other companies I must have used. I have since found that company on the Revdex.com website and filed the complaint against them.

I received your complaint in regards to Ms. [redacted].  Based on Ms. [redacted]s’s complaintshe appears to be confusing our service with the Homestead Tax Exemption.  Our company helps homeowner’s prepare for theDesignation of Homestead which is an optional filing for a protection of the...

homeowner’s equity not the tax exemption. This filing is completed at their county recorder’s office not the tax assessor’s office.  When Ms. [redacted]scontacted her appraisal district they of course would say we didn’t file her tax exemption because that is not the service we provide.  Our form and website explain this several times in bold, large font so as to not confuse homeowners.  We have included a copy of the solicitation Ms. [redacted] received for her review.   I am sorry Ms. [redacted] did not fully understand the information she read about our service.  Ifshe had contacted us at our toll free number we could have explained our service and or taken care of her refund immediately.  We will be sending Ms. [redacted] a refund of $39 on 5/13/2015.  If you have any questions in regards to our services, feel free to contact our office at ###-###-####.

I am rejecting this response because: this company still doing false advertisement, they should not mail people to be begin with. I want my name out of their company at all and as a new homeownwer I should have investigate more, or call but I am working full time, and I have family to take care of. I personally think I got taken advantage of people like their company. sending mails to per say help. but really they dont. I am a first time homeowner and I didnt expect people will be this cruel. I do not have a lot of money to be giving away to be begin with my intention of sending money is for the betterment of my homestead application and not get fooled by them. my point is application for homestead exemption is free and why would they send mails like that. they need to stop. If they really want to help...they should place the special instructions BOLDED and BIG PRINT stating their intentions and not in the very last part of the form and not even highlighted. and also do not add if you dont pay 35 buck we wont do the application. To be honest, I turn in the paper because I thought because it is mandated by the government. Which is true but you can do it FREE!!! I want this to settle by getting my money back and I want my name out of their mailing list please!!!!

I am terribly sorry for all the confusion Mr. [redacted] has gone through.  We received communication fromMr. [redacted]’s credit card company via mail not phone.   I am a bit confused by whom “Nathan” is that Mr. [redacted] and his credit card companyspoke to about canceling his service.  Our...

company has one employee and “her” name is [redacted].  As stated we received information from Mr. [redacted]’s credit card company via mail asking if Mr. [redacted] accepted our cancellation/returnpolicy.  We furnished them with the refund policy that Mr. [redacted] agreed to while signing up for the service.  Included with this response we agreed torefund Mr. [redacted]’s charge if the Mr. [redacted] reversed his chargeback.  In our response to his credit card company weasked to be updated as to their findings which we have not received any additional information at this time.  Iincluded a copy of our response dated 5/29/2015.Again I am sorry for the confusion, but I feel the Mr. [redacted]’s credit card company is at fault for all the mishaps.  We have responded and furnished allinformation required and even asked that we be kept updated in case they wanted us to refund Mr. [redacted] directly.  To datewe have not received any additional information.I am unsure if Mr. [redacted]’s credit card company has again issued him credit, but I will go ahead and issue him a refund just to make surehe is taken care of.

Thank you for the inquiry from Ms. [redacted].  Included with our response is a copy of the solicitation that Ms. [redacted] received from our company.  Our solicitation along with our website which Ms. [redacted] used states several times in bold large font that we do not prepare a homeowner’s tax...

exemption which she states is the service we were providing.  This information is located on our solicitation, website as well as our phone message so that a potential customer will not get confused.  As requested a refund in the amount of $35 has been credited back to the card Ms. [redacted] used to sign up for the service.  She should see this credit in 5 to 7 business days.  We realize Ms. [redacted] has concerns with our company, but Homestead Recording Service has been in business and using the same form for over 20 years in the state of Texas.  This form has only changed due to modifications that were required by Texas State Statutes.  Our form unlike our competitors uses large font, bold lettering, offer a toll free number, have a pre-recorded message to assist customer 24 hours a day 7 days a week and have a 100% customer satisfaction policy.   We are sorry Ms. [redacted] was confused.

Thanks for your inquiry on Mr. [redacted]  We in fact received Mr. [redacted] request for the Designation of Homestead on January 30, 2017.  At that time we mailed him his Designation of Homestead form which he would need to sign in front of a notary and have filed at his county clerk’s...

office.  If Mr. [redacted] did not receive his Homestead document in the mail we can mail him another immediately.  Please let us know if this is the case.  Because of this mix-up we have gone ahead and refunded Mr. [redacted] credit card used to sign up for the service.

and that we do not prepare a homeowner’s tax exemption.  This information is located all over our solicitation so that a potential customer will not get confused.  If Mr. [redacted] was still confused after reading this information on our solicitation he could have called the toll free number we print on our marketing material and listened to our recorded message (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) which would explain the details of our service, explained we are not a government agency nor do we prepare a homeowner’s tax exemption with an option to speak to customer service representative once the recording is played in full.  Our company unlike our competitors has this information readily available with every communication that we offer a potential customer.  We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] missed this information and will send him a refund of $74 which was explained to him when he spoke to our customer service agent this morning.  This refund will be mailed on May 5, 2016.

Thanks for the inquiry from Ms. [redacted]  We have gone ahead and refunded her credit card used to sign up for the service.  She should see this credit in 3 to 7 business days depending on her credit card company.  I do want to add that our company does not file a homeowner's tax...

exemption which she states in her complaint.  Our solicitation states this several times in large bold font.  Ms. [redacted] also states she read on our solicitation that the designation of homestead will eventually be done for free which is true, but not all homeowners want to wait the 10 to 18 months it takes for this to happen so that is why we offer our service.  We are sorry Ms. [redacted] is upset with us.Thanks

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Your business name is "HOMESTEAD RECORDING SERVICES", it is designed to trick new homeowners in hopes that they do not read the fine print. I do not have the items you sent me in the mail anymore and I am requesting a refund with out returning these items ASAP.

We have removed Mr. [redacted] from our database. Thanks

I am sorry Mr. [redacted] was unclear on the difference in our service and the homestead tax exemption.  I wish Mr. [redacted] took advantage of the toll free number we offer to our customers to ask any questions he may have had.  I am sure this would have cleared up any issues.  We will go ahead...

and mail Mr. [redacted] a refund check in today's mail. Thanks

The refund was submitted yesterday to his credit card.  Normal processing takes 5 to 7 business days for any refund to be processed by any bank or credit card company.

We have gone ahead and refunded [redacted] credit card and will reach out to her and let her know that has been done.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution will be satisfactory to me once the $35 that is pending on my Discover card is cancelled or refunded. The attached images show the order number/confirmation number. It may not show in their system yet as the transaction was this morning 3/8/17. I immediately called to cancel but they didn't answer their phone. Please confirm the $35 is cancelled/refunded before closing this dispute.
