Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage Reviews (65)

I have a great advice for everyone who is looking to hire a very reliable and affordable moving companyJust go for Mid-Atlantic MoversThey are cheap and very committedRecently I moved to Virginia from Washington with Mid-Atlantic Movers and I did not have to experience anything unexpectedNothing was damaged or broken or missing, they took less than the quoted time and charged $less than the quoted amount

+1

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the company and he stated that they had to move the consumer twiceThey moved the consumer's belongings to a storage unit and months later moved again to the consumer's homeThe time starts with the movers get to the place and start working and the time ends after the move is done [redacted] stated that the movers did make an error and then was corrected and the consumer initialed next to the information and was aware of the error and the correction

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below The only thing I agree with is they moved me twice Mid Atlantic Moving and Storage fraudulently attempted to charge me triple for the second move than the first I guess because they had my credit card number on file they felt like they had the right to charge me whatever they wanted Most importantly without my authorization Regards, [redacted] ***

I hired this company to move a king size mattress, box spring, dresses ,chest , crib and king size bed frame with head boardThe driver was supposed to call when they were on the way but instead called minutes before and advised me that they were outsideI wasn't home ,but I wasn't farWhen o arrived at the 1pm scheduled time the movers got to work When we arrived at the new location I asked that the mattress and bed be positioned on the wall ,so I could put it together later...plus my 2hours of labor was almost over Once my boyfriend arrived to help me put the bed together we laid the mattress down and noticed right away that the mattress had been ripped and rupturedAnd the bed was unevenI filled a claim with Kandi and received a letter stating that because it wasn't bagged or in a box they were not responsible!!!! I will never use this company againI should have went with all my sons like I started to use I know they are far more careful and more professional than this place

My move was from two 10xstorage units into a brand new 5-bedroom home I had a few larger items that they were notified of while providing a quote and paid additional fees to ensure their safe handling My descriptions of the property were accurate, and I was quoted $***-$ [redacted] for the move with a crew of and two trucks The day of the move things started out poorly from the beginning I was instructed to expect them around 08:at my storage units where I had a representative standing by while I was handling other appointments at my house They did not arrive until almost 10: The first truck was packed well and efficiently, however the 2nd truck items were just thrown in without consideration for space and this resulted in them having to leave behind a large table saw in the unitWhen they arrived at the house, they asked if they could park their large truck in my freshly paved driveway I immediately informed them that they couldn’t as the driveway is not rated for such a load and they were not too thrilled with this response I then inquired about protection for my home such as door guards, floor mats and stair runners I was instructed that they had none As previously stated my home was brand new with no damage to walls, doors, or floors I had personnel inside the house directing them to rooms as materials were coming in and I stayed outside to coordinate the unloading efforts First efforts were what I would expect as my belongings were going to the appropriate areas As the unloading continued, I noticed more and more boxes were getting dropped in my garage or in the basement storage that were intended to be placed in other rooms These were dropped off without asking where they should goThe heavy items that I mentioned earlier were taken apart against my better judgementWhen moved they sat part of it on the floor of the garage and damaged the bottom of the unitI pointed out to the crew and they shrugged their shouldersWhen moving furniture up to the top floor of the home as well, they scratched my hardwood floor landing in multiple places and did considerable damage to the wallsAll of this could have been avoided by providing floor protection as requestedAs the unloading continued, it became clear that the crew provided was going to go well beyond the time and amount I was quoted This was after my family and I started grabbing boxes from the back of the truck and moving them into the home ourselves to expediste the process I signed out at the end of the move with a final bill of $*** This was almost $ [redacted] more than quoted and those overages were caused by the inefficiency of the crew Having to go back to the storage unit to pick up the table saw added another minutes to the rate which could have been corrected by packing the truck betterI notified the company within days of damages observed and gave a conservative estimate of $ [redacted] between my home and the belongings that they movedI also informed them that I didn’t wish to receive compensation for these damages but would prefer that they provided a carpenter/painter to make the repairs to the dwelling for an even washTheir response came days later with an amount of $ [redacted] being offered to me as a courtesy while also citing their liability waiverI do not dispute that I signed this waiver during the move process and completely acknowledge it, however the waiver does not give them carte blanche rights to destroy my personal property and homeI have used professional movers for local and long distance moves several times over the years and have never had one not provide protection in the home or not honor their client by performing repairs to the structure or provide adequate compensation for items that were destroyedI responded to their offer and provided them with a copy of a review that I would post outlining my experiences and asked them if they were willing to reconsider the offer Their response was to ask me what I would be willing to take in lieu of the $ [redacted] offered I generously cut my claim by more than **% to an amount of $ [redacted] that would cover the cost of a professional to come and sand/stain my stairs and perform the repairs to my walls that were damaged Again, I offered to allow them to provide a painter to perform this work as opposed to seeking monetary compensation Their official response was that they considered the original offer of $ [redacted] to be rejected by me and they rescinded the offer and considered the matter settled Essentially the counter offer that was provided, at their request, allowed them to withdraw the $ [redacted] that they had already offered me They response stated that they “take customer service very seriously and sincerely regret that were unable to work together for a more successful resolution of your claim” How can one be expected to work together when you ask for an adjusted amount and then suspend negotiations immediately upon receiving the counter offer? Based on their inaccurate quotes, inefficiency of the crew, lack of protection for personal property, and their procedures for addressing customer complaints, I could not in good faith recommend MidAtlantic/Southside Moving and Storage for any moveI would point you in the direction of a larger commercial carrier who prides themselves in customer serviceAs a disclaimer, I did provide them with a copy of this review prior to them breaking contact with me and adequate time to acknowledge my complaints prior to postingTheir response was that the original decision to close the claim stands and that this matter is now settled

The set up process for my move seemed to go smoothly and management seemed to know what was expectedThe movers showed up a little later than I expected, but not too badThis was a big move...two trucks, two locations, movers, all converging at one final destinationOne location had an experienced mover and a guy in training (2nd day on the job) who had no clue what he was doingHe was nice, but it made it hard for the move to go as smoothly as it needed toThere was supposed to be another mover there and he just didn't bother to show upThe other location had movers and they worked hard, but did not pack things well onto the truck (many items from this truck were damaged)We had many items damaged or brokenThey chipped paint off the walls in two areas of the home after running furninture into themThey put boxes, that were clearly labelled, in the wrong locationThey put fragile boxes upside down causing items inside to breakThey got a flat tire on one of the trucks while trying to back around a corner (they ran over the ramp of the other truck)...this delayed their ability to go back to the storage unit and gather the remainder of our belongingsThey assembled beds incorrectly such that they had to be taken apart and put back togetherThey left things behind in one location that took several trips to move ourselvesThey left a hand truck at our house and had to come back to pick it up a couple of days laterIt felt like a three ring circus that took hours!! While all of that was really disappointing and frustrating, the worst of it is the team of folks that runs the opertation behind the scenesI called to provide feedback the very next business dayI was told I would get a call back later that day or the nextI called back days later and left a message and received no responseI finally taked to someone days later who did not offer any apology or explanation, but simply said they were not willing to do anything for meIt was clear he had no intention of caling me back, I just happened to get him on the phoneHe gave me a story about passing my feedback on to his boss and they decided there wasn't anything they could do for meAKA: so sorry we did a lousy job, but we don't careThey charged too much and sent movers who were not skilled enough (or careful enough) to do the job They want your money, but will not promise to deliver good, quality service They will show up late, damage your things and charge you a lot of money to do itIt would be worth paying more money and going with a different companyThe level of unprofessionalism was appallingMoving is really stressful and you would think a professional moving company would understand that and go out of their way to deliver a good experience for their customers

Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage moved a piano from my home in Richmond, Virginia, to my daughter's home in Broomall, Pennsylvania, It was held in storage until a truck with empty space was going up that way, which was earlier than the predicted time It was picked up and delivered without a scratch in perfect condition in exactly the times scheduled and for exactly the price quoted The movers and the phone contact were polite and efficient

Typical Moving scam by Southside Moving 6/17/16, Friday I asked quote to move bedroom, living & dining room furniture within Richmond, no miscitems such as clothes or kitchen stuff Without physically looking the inventory, Troy M [redacted] at Southside Moving gave me a quote of $for guys, truck, within hours He said that hours should be the maximum If they end up spending less hours, the total price I pay would be reduced However, they had guys show up with trucks showing up at my door (Without looking inside my house, they knew that they'd need extra guys and a truck, why?) The foreman Dave K [redacted] said that Troy is the least experienced in the office, by just looking at the moving list, he knew that they need to have at least guys Dave also advised me to use trucks in order to not stacking furniture on top of each other to avoid damage Dave said that everything can be squeezed into one truck but then they need extra wrapping and cushion, thus it would be much slower using one truck than two trucks I agreed, thinking that if they only use 3-hours to move, it should be fine I agreed and signed The hourly rate jumped from $for truck guys to $for truck guys (How can they justify the price double when the movers only increased by 1/ I should have questioned their rate at the spot ) Dave told me that I didn't need to stay with them while they were packing I left soon without monitoring their progress They were very slow wrapping furniture It took them more than hours before all stuff got loaded on to the truck The 2nd truck was less than 1/fullThere were plenty of space on top of furniture inside the 1st truck It took them only about minutes to unload the stuff from the 2nd truck(It means that two trucks were not necessary for the minutes local move.) After uploading, it end up taking them totally hoursI got charged for $ Almost tripled from original quote I refused to sign the final price Foreman Dave called the front office and agreed to give me some discount He told me that someone in the front office will contact me Monday and not charging my credit card until a discount is taken(Now I look back, he might faking that call in front of me He might not actually reach anyone in that office.) I trusted his words, and waited to get contacted However, my credit card got charged the full price on Saturday I called the Dave numerous time, left him voicemail and texted him, no answer I called the office multiple times, got hold of Carolyn, Brenda, Joe They all said that finance manager will contact me, yet no reply Joe or someone else told me that he is the regional manager and he would investigate the case then contact me Yet I never got contacted I asked to talk to Troy and was told that he hadn’t showed up in office for weeks, not sure whether he is still with the company I started credit card disputes South side moving replied to my credit card company that I had more stuff than the original list and a lot of them are bulky A big fat lie The only things extra from the original list were two plastic totes with some books which I can carry to the truck Their copy of receipts showed that I didn't initial the final due amount They didn't keep their own promise of offering me a discount Not a trustworthy company In terms of moving qualify, No major damage, except that one guy broke a hole on my staircase wall Dave said that he took a picture and reported to the office He said that I didn’t need to do anything, they would reimburse my damage However, when I contacted the company for claim, the office said that Dave didn’t send them any pictures and it is solely clients’ responsibility to take pictures of damage and file the claims What the heck? Why Dave appeared to be a nice guy, taking care of anything, yet not following up? I filed credit card dispute, as I didn't initial or sign the final amountHowever, my credit card company told me that even without my signature, moving company can charge my credit card on amount different from the quote as long as they prove that they delivered the serviceWhat? Now I understand why the moving company originally ask me to deposit and pay using credit card only, not taking personal checks

Good afternoon, I am responding to the complaint by the above customer regarding damage to her drivewayOur waiver and bill of lading both explain that we are not responsible for damage to a drivewayWe were instructed to park there by the customer and she signed for our liability to be releasedBelow is the excerpt from our contract:The Shipper acknowledges that the Company may park/operate its motor vehicle in a place and in such a manner that doing so may facilitate the loading and unloading of a shipment for the ShipperThe Shipper hereby releases and holds the Company harmless from any liability whatsoever connected with the parking or placement of this vehicle including, but not limited to: parking citations, towing charges, damages to landscaping or driveways, ruts in the ground and any other damages or charges directly related to the parking/placement of the motor vehicle for the benefit of the Shipper's job.Our company was also not given the opportunity to correct the problem per our terms and conditions of the contractWe offered to have one of our employees fix the driveway and that offer was refused AFTER repairs were done by another company and paid for by our shipperWe are not willing to pay this bill as our liability was waived and our offer to correct the situation was turned downPlease let me know if you need copies of the contract.Respectfully, Deanna M ***Operations Manager

This company is a complete jokeI advised prior to booking that I had large furnitureI was charged a price for men however I only received people (One of their employees notified me that I was overcharged)I was initially quoted $ [redacted] but ultimately paid over $ [redacted] for a trip that was less than milesMy $***+ mattress was damaged (I requested that they come take a look at the damage and possibly fix it instead of replacing the mattress)Upon making a claim with this company for the damages, I was advised that I should have purchased a "different type of insurance" from them for the jobI would expect that a moving company would be properly licensed and insuredThis place should be shut down by the state or they should at least take accountability for their mistakesIf you claim to be a professional moving company, a good idea would be to have "professional" employees( as in actual professionals, not random kids who just slap a plain lounge tee on and call it a day)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below I would like at least partial compensation for the repairs The repairs were not made before the company offered to make the repairs by the driver that caused the damage in the first place I do not own the house and property, therefore, the owner requested that a professional handle the job so that the work matched the original structure I witnessed the incident and felt that it was intentional and could have been prevented This is why I would like compensation There was other damage, not only to my furniture, but to the paint inside the house that I am not filing a claim Regards, [redacted]

I was looking for a reputable moving company around *** ***a to move my family to *** *** *** ***
Immediately, a salesman from this company Mid- Atlantic Movers ( they also go as Southside Movers) called me and was in SUCH a rush to get me a quote and to collect 1/of the moneyHe persistantly called and called, until I gave him 1/of the depositHe MUST work on commission, and he was NOT interested in REALLY finding out how many things I hadHe quoted me initally $***, and then he came back at $***The men that showed up to move me where not professional and acted very annoyed that I was not completely packedThey worked for hours, kept calling and complaining to their supervisor, and then left- asking me to pack more and they would be back in the morningThe truck that they brought was not big enough, but they did not tell me this until 1/way through the day of packingThe dispatcher woman INSISTED that they get on the road to *** even thou

My move was from two 10xstorage units into a brand new 5-bedroom home I had a few larger items that they were notified of while providing a quote and paid additional fees to ensure their safe handling My descriptions of the property were accurate, and I was quoted $***-$*** for the move with a crew of and two trucks The day of the move things started out poorly from the beginning I was instructed to expect them around 08:at my storage units where I had a representative standing by while I was handling other appointments at my house They did not arrive until almost 10: The first truck was packed well and efficiently, however the 2nd truck items were just thrown in without consideration for space and this resulted in them having to leave behind a large table saw in the unitWhen they arrived at the house, they asked if they could park their large truck in my freshly paved driveway I immediately informed them that they couldn’t as the driveway is not rated for such a load and they were not too thrilled with this response I then inquired about protection for my home such as door guards, floor mats and stair runners I was instructed that they had none As previously stated my home was brand new with no damage to walls, doors, or floors I had personnel inside the house directing them to rooms as materials were coming in and I stayed outside to coordinate the unloading efforts First efforts were what I would expect as my belongings were going to the appropriate areas As the unloading continued, I noticed more and more boxes were getting dropped in my garage or in the basement storage that were intended to be placed in other rooms These were dropped off without asking where they should goThe heavy items that I mentioned earlier were taken apart against my better judgementWhen moved they sat part of it on the floor of the garage and damaged the bottom of the unitI pointed out to the crew and they shrugged their shouldersWhen moving furniture up to the top floor of the home as well, they scratched my hardwood floor landing in multiple places and did considerable damage to the wallsAll of this could have been avoided by providing floor protection as requestedAs the unloading continued, it became clear that the crew provided was going to go well beyond the time and amount I was quoted This was after my family and I started grabbing boxes from the back of the truck and moving them into the home ourselves to expediste the process I signed out at the end of the move with a final bill of $*** This was almost $*** more than quoted and those overages were caused by the inefficiency of the crew Having to go back to the storage unit to pick up the table saw added another minutes to the rate which could have been corrected by packing the truck betterI notified the company within days of damages observed and gave a conservative estimate of $*** between my home and the belongings that they movedI also informed them that I didn’t wish to receive compensation for these damages but would prefer that they provided a carpenter/painter to make the repairs to the dwelling for an even washTheir response came days later with an amount of $*** being offered to me as a courtesy while also citing their liability waiverI do not dispute that I signed this waiver during the move process and completely acknowledge it, however the waiver does not give them carte blanche rights to destroy my personal property and homeI have used professional movers for local and long distance moves several times over the years and have never had one not provide protection in the home or not honor their client by performing repairs to the structure or provide adequate compensation for items that were destroyedI responded to their offer and provided them with a copy of a review that I would post outlining my experiences and asked them if they were willing to reconsider the offer Their response was to ask me what I would be willing to take in lieu of the $*** offered I generously cut my claim by more than **% to an amount of $*** that would cover the cost of a professional to come and sand/stain my stairs and perform the repairs to my walls that were damaged Again, I offered to allow them to provide a painter to perform this work as opposed to seeking monetary compensation Their official response was that they considered the original offer of $*** to be rejected by me and they rescinded the offer and considered the matter settled Essentially the counter offer that was provided, at their request, allowed them to withdraw the $*** that they had already offered me They response stated that they “take customer service very seriously and sincerely regret that were unable to work together for a more successful resolution of your claim” How can one be expected to work together when you ask for an adjusted amount and then suspend negotiations immediately upon receiving the counter offer?
Based on their inaccurate quotes, inefficiency of the crew, lack of protection for personal property, and their procedures for addressing customer complaints, I could not in good faith recommend MidAtlantic/Southside Moving and Storage for any moveI would point you in the direction of a larger commercial carrier who prides themselves in customer serviceAs a disclaimer, I did provide them with a copy of this review prior to them breaking contact with me and adequate time to acknowledge my complaints prior to postingTheir response was that the original decision to close the claim stands and that this matter is now settled

The lack of professionalism that I have experienced with this company is appallingI'm currently waiting for my moving service and it's now and a half hours outside of the hour window that they gave meI have yet to receive any proactive communication from the company, the only communication I have received has been from me reaching out to themIt's down right disrepectful call yourself a "service" company and blatantly disrespect the time of the individuals that you are servicingNot only has his experience been frustrating it more importantly has costed me more than what was necessary as a direct result of their tardinessI was forced to pay another day of my pro-rated rent amount because they failed to show during the leasing office hours of operationThe ONLY since of urgency that this company has had when servicing me to this point has been when they asked for my credit card payment when I scheduled the appointmentOnce again this is disgusting and please don't use this

Good afternoon, I am responding to the complaint by the above customer regarding damage to her drivewayOur waiver and bill of lading both explain that we are not responsible for damage to a drivewayWe were instructed to park there by the customer and she signed for our liability to

Now I understand why the moving company originally ask me to deposit and pay using credit card only, not taking personal checks

They misrepresent their insuranceThey use dubious terms and conditions for contractsThey did not provide the size truck needed for our moveThey stopped well before completing the job (We moved the remainder of our goods by ourselves for an additional hoursWe had contracted for a full house move, and the movers told us they only had "bedroom apartment" down on their sheet)They advertise they are insured, but in fact, we were supposed to buy our own insuranceThey destroyed the nicest piece of furniture we own, a hand made wooden bed that according to the bedmaker was vandalized by someone taking a gouging tool and digging a three foot scratch into the head board of the bedThey will not compensate us based on the fraud represented in their terms and conditions which says they bear no responsibilityThey are affiliated with *** ***One guy showed up an hour late while the other two guys started the jobI have filed an investigation with my credit card for brea

I had Mid Atlantic Moving and Storage move me from *** County to my present address on 10/1/ While leaving, the moving truck was pulling out of my driving and damaged the brick lining the side of the driveway My daughter and I stood there and watched as they didn't even try to correct the vehicle, but instead pushed on the gas to cause more damage
