This company is a complete jokeI advised prior to booking that I had large furnitureI was charged a price for men however I only received people (One of their employees notified me that I was overcharged)I was initially quoted $*** but ultimately paid over $*** for a trip that was less than milesMy $***+ mattress was damaged (I requested that they come take a look at the damage and possibly fix it instead of replacing the mattress)Upon making a claim with this company for the damages, I was advised that I should have purchased a "different type of insurance" from them for the jobI would expect that a moving company would be properly licensed and insuredThis place should be shut down by the state or they should at least take accountability for their mistakesIf you claim to be a professional moving company, a good idea would be to have "professional" employees( as in actual professionals, not random kids who just slap a plain lounge tee on and call it a day)

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the company and he stated that they had to move the consumer twice. They moved the consumer's belongings to a storage unit and months later moved again to the consumer's home. The time starts with the movers get to the place and start working and the time ends after the move...

is done. [redacted] stated that the movers did make an error and then was corrected and the consumer initialed next to the information and was aware of the error and the correction.

Good afternoon, I am responding to the complaint by the above customer regarding damage to her driveway. Our waiver and bill of lading both explain that we are not responsible for damage to a driveway. We were instructed to park there by the customer and she signed for our liability to be...

released. Below is the excerpt from our contract:The Shipper acknowledges that the Company may park/operate its motor vehicle in a place and in such a manner that doing so may facilitate the loading and unloading of a shipment for the Shipper. The Shipper hereby releases and holds the Company harmless from any liability whatsoever connected with the parking or placement of this vehicle including, but not limited to: parking citations, towing charges, damages to landscaping or driveways, ruts in the ground and any other damages or charges directly related to the parking/placement of the motor vehicle for the benefit of the Shipper's job.Our company was also not given the opportunity to correct the problem per our terms and conditions of the contract. We offered to have one of our employees fix the driveway and that offer was refused AFTER repairs were done by another company and paid for by our shipper. We are not willing to pay this bill as our liability was waived and our offer to correct the situation was turned down. Please let me know if you need copies of the contract.Respectfully, Deanna M [redacted]Operations Manager

[redacted] household goods was in our storage the movers forgot to start there time when they was at the storage which I tried to explain to him that's where the additional time came from but he wasn't understanding and was refusing to pay the additional fees the time starts when the movers get to the job not mid way of the job.

THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH!!! Where do I begin?
1.) After my initial on-line inquiry for an estimate, I was BOMBARDED with e-mails and phone calls soliciting my business. I was told their time slots were limited, and I would need to book my date and sign a contract ASAP.
2.) I contracted my across-town move for Friday, June 5th and arranged weeks in advance with my employer to have the day off. I was contacted by Mid-Atlantic LESS than 24 hours before my move to inform me they had a BIG JOB before mine and would have to reschedule for the following day. I explained that I had to work, but could make arrangements for a morning move that MUST be completed by noon.
3.) I was assured the movers would arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 am...they arrived at 9:35. In order to compensate for their tardiness and expedite the process, I had to assist with most of the moving (for which I'm already paying a ridiculous amount of money!)
4.) While unloading my belongings on the other end, the movers damaged the following:
-Dropped my 52" flat screen and broke the base
-Tore the arm on my sleeper sofa (they had no clue that if you flip the sofa forward rather than backward, the bed would spill out.) As a result, there is also a large gouge in the drywall of my foyer that will need repaired and painted.
-There are now 3 large chunks of wood chipped off my $1500 mahogany armoire.
5.) I filed a claim, and have followed up twice to no avail. It seems that they have time to hound you to get your business, but once they've got your $$$ you're SOL!!!
I've moved many times in the past, and have never had such an unpleasant and stressful experience! The last move I went through [redacted] (procured a truck and used their local movers registry to select my movers.) I paid almost half the amount and the crew was experienced, professional and ON TIME!

Their response is incorrect and means nothing.  I hope the Revdex.com takes note of this company changing a signed a contract/receipt after the fact.  Seems like a blatant disregard to the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.

The set up process for my move seemed to go smoothly and management seemed to know what was expected. The movers showed up a little later than I expected, but not too bad. This was a big move...two trucks, two locations, 5 movers, all converging at one final destination. One location had an experienced mover and a guy in training (2nd day on the job) who had no clue what he was doing. He was nice, but it made it hard for the move to go as smoothly as it needed to. There was supposed to be another mover there and he just didn't bother to show up. The other location had 3 movers and they worked hard, but did not pack things well onto the truck (many items from this truck were damaged). We had many items damaged or broken. They chipped paint off the walls in two areas of the home after running furninture into them. They put boxes, that were clearly labelled, in the wrong location. They put fragile boxes upside down causing items inside to break. They got a flat tire on one of the trucks while trying to back around a corner (they ran over the ramp of the other truck)...this delayed their ability to go back to the storage unit and gather the remainder of our belongings. They assembled beds incorrectly such that they had to be taken apart and put back together. They left things behind in one location that took several trips to move ourselves. They left a hand truck at our house and had to come back to pick it up a couple of days later. It felt like a three ring circus that took 12 hours!!
While all of that was really disappointing and frustrating, the worst of it is the team of folks that runs the opertation behind the scenes. I called to provide feedback the very next business day. I was told I would get a call back later that day or the next. I called back 2 days later and left a message and received no response. I finally taked to someone 3 days later who did not offer any apology or explanation, but simply said they were not willing to do anything for me. It was clear he had no intention of caling me back, I just happened to get him on the phone. He gave me a story about passing my feedback on to his boss and they decided there wasn't anything they could do for me. AKA: so sorry we did a lousy job, but we don't care.
They charged too much and sent movers who were not skilled enough (or careful enough) to do the job. They want your money, but will not promise to deliver good, quality service. They will show up late, damage your things and charge you a lot of money to do it. It would be worth paying more money and going with a different company. The level of unprofessionalism was appalling. Moving is really stressful and you would think a professional moving company would understand that and go out of their way to deliver a good experience for their customers.

The only thing I agree with is they moved me twice.  Mid Atlantic Moving and Storage fraudulently attempted to charge me triple for the second move than the first.   I guess because they had my credit card number on file they felt like they had the right to charge me whatever they wanted.  Most importantly without my authorization.

Dear Revdex.com
Please be advised that the former [redacted] is no longer with the company, and the customers original date of delivery for their household goods was scheduled for 9/9/2014 from storage.  Upon the movers arrival to the units, it was brought...

to corporate's attension that the leases for the units wre accidently placed by the storage company in her personal name, vs. the company's name and the storage company would not allow us to access for liability purposes.  Immediately, the customer was called and was told of the issue.  It was referenced to the customer that we would have resolution by the end of the week, as the former [redacted] was to correct the paper with the storage vender.  The paperwork was completed on Friday afternoon, and corporate notified the customer that corporate would sign over the unit to [redacted] immediately to get her belongings to her or our next available delivery date would be Thursday the 18th.  [redacted] elected to claim the unit and accepted the lease on that Saturday.  She has all her belongings.  The company apologized for any inconvience and confussion.

Typical Moving scam by Southside Moving 6/17/16, Friday. I asked quote to move 4 bedroom, 2 living & 2 dining room furniture within Richmond, no misc. items such as clothes or kitchen stuff. Without physically looking the inventory, Troy M[redacted] at Southside Moving gave me a quote of $840 for 3 guys, 1 truck, within 6 hours. He said that 6 hours should be the maximum. If they end up spending less hours, the total price I pay would be reduced. However, they had 4 guys show up with 2 trucks showing up at my door. (Without looking inside my house, they knew that they'd need extra guys and a truck, why?) The foreman Dave K[redacted] said that Troy is the least experienced in the office, by just looking at the moving list, he knew that they need to have at least 4 guys. Dave also advised me to use 2 trucks in order to not stacking furniture on top of each other to avoid damage. Dave said that everything can be squeezed into one truck but then they need extra wrapping and cushion, thus it would be much slower using one truck than two trucks. I agreed, thinking that if they only use 3-4 hours to move, it should be fine. I agreed and signed. The hourly rate jumped from $120 for 1 truck 3 guys to $205 for 2 truck 4 guys. (How can they justify the price double when the movers only increased by 1/4. I should have questioned their rate at the spot. ) Dave told me that I didn't need to stay with them while they were packing. I left soon without monitoring their progress. They were very slow wrapping furniture. It took them more than 5 hours before all stuff got loaded on to the truck. The 2nd truck was less than 1/4 full. There were plenty of space on top of furniture inside the 1st truck. It took them only about 30 minutes to unload the stuff from the 2nd truck. (It means that two trucks were not necessary for the 30 minutes local move.) After uploading, it end up taking them totally 9.5 hours. I got charged for $2200. Almost tripled from original quote. I refused to sign the final price. Foreman Dave called the front office and agreed to give me some discount. He told me that someone in the front office will contact me Monday and not charging my credit card until a discount is taken. (Now I look back, he might faking that call in front of me. He might not actually reach anyone in that office.) I trusted his words, and waited to get contacted. However, my credit card got charged the full price on Saturday. I called the Dave numerous time, left him voicemail and texted him, no answer. I called the office multiple times, got hold of Carolyn, Brenda, Joe. They all said that finance manager will contact me, yet no reply. Joe or someone else told me that he is the regional manager and he would investigate the case then contact me. Yet I never got contacted. I asked to talk to Troy and was told that he hadn’t showed up in office for 2 weeks, not sure whether he is still with the company. I started credit card disputes. South side moving replied to my credit card company that I had more stuff than the original list and a lot of them are bulky. A big fat lie. The only things extra from the original list were two plastic totes with some books which I can carry to the truck. Their copy of receipts showed that I didn't initial the final due amount. They didn't keep their own promise of offering me a discount. Not a trustworthy company. In terms of moving qualify, No major damage, except that one guy broke a hole on my staircase wall. Dave said that he took a picture and reported to the office. He said that I didn’t need to do anything, they would reimburse my damage. However, when I contacted the company for claim, the office said that Dave didn’t send them any pictures and it is solely clients’ responsibility to take pictures of damage and file the claims. What the heck? Why Dave appeared to be a nice guy, taking care of anything, yet not following up?
I filed credit card dispute, as I didn't initial or sign the final amount. However, my credit card company told me that even without my signature, moving company can charge my credit card on amount different from the quote as long as they prove that they delivered the service. What? Now I understand why the moving company originally ask me to deposit and pay using credit card only, not taking personal checks.

I would like at least partial compensation for the repairs.  The repairs were not made before the company offered to make the repairs by the driver that caused the damage in the first place.  I do not own the house and property, therefore, the owner requested that a professional handle the job so that the work matched the original structure.  I witnessed the incident and felt that it was intentional and could have been prevented.  This is why I would like compensation.  There was other damage, not only to my furniture, but to the paint inside the house that I am not filing a claim.

Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage moved a piano from my home in Richmond, Virginia, to my daughter's home in Broomall, Pennsylvania, It was held in storage until a truck with empty space was going up that way, which was earlier than the predicted time. It was picked up and delivered without a scratch in perfect condition in exactly the times scheduled and for exactly the price quoted. The movers and the phone contact were polite and efficient.

Review: The lack of professionalism that I have experienced with this company is appalling. I'm currently waiting for my moving service and it's now 2 and a half hours outside of the 5 hour window that they gave me. I have yet to receive any proactive communication from the company, the only communication I have received has been from me reaching out to them. It's down right disrepectful call yourself a "service" company and blatantly disrespect the time of the individuals that you are servicing. Not only has his experience been frustrating it more importantly has costed me more than what was necessary as a direct result of their tardiness. I was forced to pay another day of my pro-rated rent amount because they failed to show during the leasing office hours of operation. The ONLY since of urgency that this company has had when servicing me to this point has been when they asked for my credit card payment when I scheduled the appointment. Once again this is disgusting and please don't use this service.Desired Settlement: At the least refund my money, they can't replace the time I wasted.

Review: I hired this company to move me from my rental to my new home, which are approximately 8 miles apart. The estimate they gave me was much lower than what they actually billed me for. When the representative from this company gave me a total of 6 hours (taking time off for stopping at a store between addresses, eating the pizza that I provided and taking excessive time to take a leg off of a piece of furniture), which is what I initialed when they left, but when they got back to the office they changed it to, and charged me for 7 hours. When I took this up with the owner or manager (I'm not sure which), he said that he did not care what I initialed as my total time or that his men wasted way too much time, that the clock started the minute they arrived and stopped when they left. I will never use another "by the hour mover". These men took entirely too much time moving me and there was excessive standing around and wasting time, which I was being billed for. It took them 45 minutes to figure out how to get a couch down from an upstairs bedroom. They were also using hand tools, rather than electric tools. As if this wasn't enough, they damaged several pieces of my furniture and I had left over hardware that came off of my furniture, but did not go back on. They were not experienced nor professional movers!!! This move costed me a total of $960.00, a lot of aggravation and way too much damaged property. I want a $360.00 refund.Desired Settlement: A refund of $360.00 and let other people know that they are not a trust worthy company!!

Regards,

Mid-Atlantic Movers were extremely helpful with organizing my daughter's move from one apartment to another. She's at university and we couldn't be around to help her with the move. They were great about helping to plan and execute the move - and gave us tremendous peace of mind. I have used their services in the past, and was impressed yet again and I highly recommend this company!
