National Rifle Association of America Reviews (57)

I will update our records and have your phone number placed on our internal “Do Not Call” list to ensure that we do not call you againPlease allow 7-business days for this to take full effect Ken B [redacted] NRA Member Services National Rifle Association of America

Revdex.com:First, let me apologize to **and [redacted] for the confusion and their understandable annoyance. The individuals who place calls are provided with very limited information concerning our MembersThat information does include, however, an expiration date but only that date listed when the file is pulled for callers to useThey do not have access to real-time information so [redacted] ***' wife's recent renewal would not have been known to the person callingSimilarly, other information concerning [redacted] ***' Membership would not have been knownWe are very protective of our Members' information.Subsequent to the instant file being pulled (where [redacted] ***' Membership showed an October, expiration) we received the renewalIt appears the individual spoke to [redacted] on or about September 26, I assure you the confusion was not intentionalMembership in NRA is purely voluntaryWe never send some "bill me" account to a collection agency -- everThis particular "bill me" was cancelled this afternoonIf any letters concerning it are received after today the process for their creation started before todayPlease tell [redacted] they can be thrown away.I understand the frustration and the desire to cancel his MembershipI hope he will reconsiderPlease have him write me directly at [redacted] @nrahq.orgI am a staff member, at Headquarters, and, like [redacted] ***, a MemberInstead of quitting, I would like to extend his Membership another year at no cost to help make up for the annoyancePlease have him write me directly either way so I can have the account updated, no matter which option he chooses.I hope this information proved helpful.Sincerely,Skipp *G [redacted] Assistant General Counsel

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: No membership packet ever receivedNRA expects me to make multiple phone calls to them begging for these membership materialsIn my opinion NRA representative has not done anything personally, towards resolving this issue, by not verifying the accuracy of the information provideMy disappointment and frustration with the NRA has only grown, with each response I receive Regards, [redacted]

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Response from NRA claims that a membership packet was sent out to me a week ago No such membership packet was ever received If I pay for a year membership, it is expected that the materials necessary for taking advantage of that membership, be sent out in a timely manner The NRA representative that responded to this complaint is in error Regards, [redacted]

Please see the previous responsesHe speaks of lies and dishonesty but there are no specificsIf Revdex.com feels this complaint has any merit whatsoever please explain soOtherwise, this appears to just be name calling and this matter is therefore closed

I called the number listed in the complaintIt rings to [redacted] Of course, that is not NRANevertheless, I forwarded the two phone numbers listed in the complaint to our Membership Division to be placed on our internal Do Not Call listIf calls are coming from NRA, this should stop themPlease note that numbers to be called are selected in advance so it will take a few days for any calls to stop.I hope this information proved helpful

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:After reviewing the response from the NRA, I noticed that their response did not include a respondents name, department or titleIt is also possible that the Revdex.com edited this infoI do not know if this letter was actually written from an executive employee or customer service.I am confused with the first statement" [redacted] has called and written several time"Is this a question? Comment or statement? Is the author of this letter admitting that they received my letters and intentionally chose to ignore them? I am confused and would like them to clarify what they meant. The author of the response is not specifying the facts according to my complaintIn proper sequence, my son received an offer to start up a new easy pay life membership which offered a tactical briefcase as a new sign upThe offer also offered a discounted pay off amount of $It was then that I called the life membership department and inquired about getting a similar offer with a current easy pay life already startedThe member service rep did offer me the same deal without any issueThis left me with a much smaller balance to be paid off, Although, I did satisfy the $requirement to receive the briefcase, but The $was not paid in one payment so it was deniedOn my sons offer, he would have received a tactical briefcase and a bullet pen which he received neither. It was then about a week later that I received the offer to pay off my remaining balance and receive a tactical briefcase and a bullet pen which we received neitherIt is agreed that I did pay my life membership at a reduced rated and with my son being a new eligible life membership, why would we have not been eligible for one briefcase? When dealing with MrB [redacted] (customer service), It was a courtesy that he sent me a cameo bag but in no way was this to satisfy my original complaint of not receiving briefcaseMr B [redacted] was aware that I still wanted to write MrL [redacted] and tell him my storyWhat the author of the business reply does not make clear to the Revdex.com, is that the reduced life membership deal I received and the receiving the cameo bag were taken care of by separate individuals and not related to each other at allThe NRA makes it sound like I am greedy and not happy with what I received but we have recieved multiple offers in the mail over many years and they do get confusing, especially when a household has more than one member The author of this letter also states "Although the matter is that simple"So then if the matter is so simple, why choose to ignore letters written by dues paying member and admit this to the Revdex.com?The NRA also states "We've gone to great lengths to try to make him happy, including knocking the $off the price and sending him a different bag"These are statements and very misleadingTo re emphasize, The offer I received from the life membership department was before I wrote my first letter to MrL [redacted] My life membership dues were paid off on June 23rd and my first letter was dated June 27th I did not argue or haggle to get my dues reducedThey did it with no problemIt was not done to satisfy my complaint about briefcase and executive officers didn't even know about this issue at that point so they are making a statementHow does the NRA say the have gone out of their way and admit to the Revdex.com that they could have prevented this complaint but they chose to ignore letter? Makes no sense to meTheir response did not state the truth and sounded very unprofessionalThey failed to address how a member is supposed to reach the executive members for any type of reasonIs the Revdex.com the proper format for mediating or communicating with the NRA? Do they not have a secretary in the executive department? Has MrL [redacted] gotten so big that he is not even reachable to the members? The NRA also states "He still insists on the briefcase"This is also misleading and falseI do not insist on anythingI do feel that between the two offers, we should have been entitled to receive the briefcaseThe author of this letter also failed to address why we never got the bullet pens in our offersI think it is evident that I never insisted on anythingAll I wanted to do is present the facts of my case to MrL [redacted] and that is itIt was his choice to ignore what he calls, A simple matter. It is sad and unfortunate that an organization that stands to protect my rights and educate the public on many issues, would act so unprofessionalBecause of the NRA, MY son was on a rifle team for years and I became an NRA certified Range Officer and volunteered on his team as a Range OfficerWe are NRA members who carry a lot of pride for being membersHow do I explain this to other members?I am a believer of presenting truthful facts and not distorting or making misleading statements. In conclusion, I am still hoping to receive a briefcase and the bullet pensAs life members, there are no more dues to pay and there will be no more offers because we have satisfied our life duesThe NRA advises that I can purchase the tactical bag on their websiteThe cost is $plus shipping and applicable taxesThe balance of my son's easy pay life dues are $if site is correctI will present this offerIf I were to make a final payment to satisfy Justin's life dues, will you give us the briefcase as a final gift? Between both life memberships paid off, We would have paid you $which far exceeded the requirement for this giftWe are not greedy, we are more than willing to work out a fair and mutual compromise to close this complaint and restore our relationship with you. Thanks for considering this offer Regards, [redacted]

In February of last year, we limited her husband's renewals to three per yearI had our Membership Division do the same for her membership.NRA sends renewal notices throughout the year, including in a new or renewing Member's new credential package, offering a discounted price and/or a premium for renewingA Member's expiration date is printed on the membership card and also appears on the label of the monthly magazineWe are not hiding the ball and certainly are not acting in an unethical mannerFor non-Life Members, one only gets voting privileges once one has five years of consecutive membership, i.e., with no breakWith nearly five million Members, some need, want, or demand fewer or more notices than othersIt is impossible to develop a policy that works for allOver the years, we've found the system works best and avoids complaints concerning a loss of voting rightsNevertheless, we implemented the method whereby renewals can be limited to threeI also had both accounts put on our "promo kill" list which should limit other mail going to themI sincerely hope this resolves the matterNevertheless, if they still wish to cancel this is a voluntary membership organizationThey can respond via the Revdex.com system and I will make sure the memberships are cancelledAs they have been paid for, I hope these two Members will stick with us and see the benefits of being a NRA Member and joining with other like-minded individuals in the defense of our Second Amendment rights

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I actually did not expect another business responseI thought the Revdex.com was going to determine merit of complaint. There really isn't much more that I can sayThe NRA is evasive towards certain questionsThe NRA states that their resolution is more than fairUnless I am responding to the wrong complaint, I am not sure that I read anywhere that they even offered me a resolutionThe NRA stated that I can purchase the tactical bag from their store at plus tax and shippingIt would be safe to say that this is not a fair resolutionI think I made the best offerI am willing to purchase the bag for $This will satisfy life time dues for my son and I and at the same time we will be ineligible for any more promotional offersWithout any balance remaining would make it easier to donate to the NRA instead. The NRA talks about members that paid more and received less and what dues were years agoThese statements are obviously irrelevant to the original complaintThe bottom line is that this complaint is based on marketing and or promotional offers that the NRA creates to retain members and or seek new members which is fineNRA marketing team makes these offers and chooses to reduce member duesNot me I only respond to the offer and hope the offer is carrying out with integrity Regards, [redacted]

Please see the initial responseThe issue was clearly addressedand the resolution was more than fair [redacted] asks what he should tell NRA membersI would ask the same, i.e., what should we tell the Members who paid more but would receive less? That is not fair to those MembersSpeaking as a Benefactor Life Member myself, the resolution is more than fair(When I joined nearly two decades ago the cost for just the Life Membership was $In this case, it was reduced to 2/of thatI am not complaining as I support this cause and this organization.) Again, clearly addressed and more than fair

*** asks for a refund of his membership duesAs
noted on the membership materials provided, including the website when he
signed up on or about March 28, 2014, membership dues are non-refundable
Similar to what he noted in his complaint, membership begins the day of dues
processing by NRAThat was March 31, This is important for insurance
coverage and, for voting members, when a lapse may affect voting rights
We had a delay in receiving some insurance materials we
include in the membership packets and his packet went out about a week agoOur
records do show three e-mails sent to us (one on April and two on April 15) and
we responded on April (NRA receives a large number of e-mails and, unlike
personal e-mail, we cannot always respond in an immediate fashion but we strive
for timely responses.) In that e-mail response we explained the delay and how
*** could access his membership information and benefits onlineThis
is the day after he made the complaint to Revdex.com so I trust this resolved the
matter
I trust this information proved helpful

In November of 2014, someone went online and signed this individual up, paying $for the MembershipIt is not clear, given what he wrote in the complaint, why it took this long to complain or why a complaint was even made, i.e., as opposed to contacting us and cancelling the membership
Nevertheless, we cancelled the Membership today, per his requestOur records show he was sent a pocket knife as a premium for the MembershipHe can keep the knife, return it, or give it to someone who might appreciate itI hope this information proved helpful

In response to this complaint we added the number provided to our internal "do not call" listThis should produce the desired resultPlease note that numbers to be called are selected in advance so it may take a couple of days to work any planned calls into the system.Although NRA, as a
501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, enjoys certain exemptions under the federal Do Not Call law, we do not want to bother those not wanting to be contacted nor do we wish to waste resources doing soI apologize for any annoyanceThat certainly was not the intention

------- Forwarded message ----------From: *** *** ***>Date: Wed, Jul 2, at 2:PMSubject: Re: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania in regards to your complaint #***.To: [email protected]
Thank You, hoping to see the NRAs' response, this situation has been rediculousI have been a member in good syanding for more than yearsThis was minimally advertising, maximally a scam to elicit more funds

By way of explanation, but certainly not excuse, a technical error
in November prevented verification cards for premiums, such as the duffel bag,
from being added to credentials packetsWhen Mr*** received those
credentials, it should have included this card with information on getting the
bagThis affected several people but was corrected and a bag orderedThat bag
shipped on February and should arrive within the next two weeks
Please note that the complaint references a $membershipOur
records show a one-year $membershipIf there is some other payment, please
have him contact us at ###-###-####.
I hope this information proved helpful

We added the ***'s number to our do not call list this afternoonThis should produce the desired resultPlease note that numbers to be dialed are selected in advance and it may take a couple of days for any planned calls to work their way out of the system. Our records show only one day,
March 10, 2015, where the number was called more than once in a day and, on that day, it was twiceNRA, as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization enjoys certain exemptions under the federal and state do not call lawsNevertheless, we do not want to bother those not wanting to be contacted nor do we wish to waste resources doing soWe are always glad to add any number to our do not call list.I hope this information proved helpful and I apologize for any annoyance the *** household may have experienced

*** *** has called and written several timesWhile he did receive an offer to pay off his Life Membership balance of $and, if he did, he would receive the briefcase, he did not do so and, therefore, he was not eligible for the briefcaseAlthough the matter is that simple, we matched
an offer his son received, resulting in *** ***'s membership being offered at $less than he originally agreed to payEven though he was not eligible for another premium, a camo bag, we sent him one out of courtesyHe still wants the briefcase, on top of the bag and on top of the $in savingsHe discussed this with several people at NRA HQHad he paid the $balance, he would have received the briefcaseHe did not, therefore he did not receive the briefcaseWe've gone to great lengths to try to make him happy, including knocking the $off of the price and sending him a different bagHe still insists on the briefcase, howeverHe could buy a case, e.g., at *** for far less than the $we already credited himI trust this resolves the matter

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:This states nothing you now admit you have a media group but that it's not for everyone my question is are you discriminating on me based on creed? Or race? You still didn't answer the question what makes my case different than *** *** or *** *** my complaint is that as you had mentioned in an earlier response I'm a "35.00" per year member at least I am a member this is funny because *** *** had no membership but you and other gun groups supported her also I fired my prior council because Evan Nappen stated that he had the necessary connection with the NRA to shed light on my stopI think it's funny that all you can say is see prior response when your responses contradict each otherThe first you say you have no media group now u do bit it's only for some members and non members just not in the per year range I don't expect you to do anything butnegative publicity will come from this is have exposed the NRA to be exactly what they pretend to protect our rights fromI intend to contact my local media I will become a gun owners advocate against the NRAYou admit do discrimination based on creed also your unprofessional in your responses you jab at my tattoo and state that's a reason I'm in this legal mess you are a joke and unprofessional this needs to be public access to expose the NRA for not caring about the average Joe with a membership

*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

*** *** I would like to mention that the calls that were coming in had NRA listed on my ID, and not *** **

We refunded the full amount earlier todayThere was confusion over the addresses as a result of how our system operates and when information added gets updated in the main databaseBut, as *** *** would have no reason to know that we are waiving the no refund policyI apologize for
the annoyance *** *** clearly experiencedIf he would like to give us another chance, we would be happy to provide him with a one year membership, free of chargeIf *** *** is happy at the end of that year we would love to keep him as a memberIf he would like to accept this free membership please let me know and I will take care of it.I hope everyone has a great new year!
