Review: THE N[redacted] HAS BEEN CALLING US NOW FOR 3 MONTHS, AT LEAST TWICE DAILY FROM 8 AM TO 8 PM. WHEN WE PICK UP THE PHONE, THERE IS NO RESPONCE FROM THEM. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO REACH THEM VIA THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER. THEY WOULD NOT IDENITFY THEMSELVES AND WERE EXTREMELY CURT AND RUDE. THEY ADVERTIZE THEMSELVES AS THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION, WHEN PUT ON HOLD. IN ACTUALITY, THEY ARE A DEPT COLLECTION AGENCY. WE HAVE NO DEBTS. WE ARE BEING HARRASSED BY THIS COMPANY ON A DAILY BASIS. THEY USE A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER TO CALL FROM EVERY DAY. I HAVE TRIED CALLING THESE NUMBERS, BUT THERE IS NO ANSWER. HERE IS A LIST OF MOST OF THE NUMBERS THEY USE AND SEVERAL ARE MORE NORTHERN VIRGINIA OR TOLL FREE SUCCESS:

###-###-####,###-###-####,###-###-####,###-###-####,###-###-####,###-###-####. THERE ARE 10 OTHER NUMBERS FROM TOLL FREE SUCCESS FROM VARIOUS AREA CODES, IN ADDITION TO THE [redacted] AREA CODE.Desired Settlement: STOP CALLING AND HARRASSING US AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT.

Response:

Dear [redacted] and **. [redacted]:

Review: In December of 2012, I was solicited by the National Rifle Association (NRA) to join. If I agreed and paid for a three year membership, I would receive a camouflaged duffel bag. So, in December I paid for the three year membership, but have yet to receive the camouflaged duffel bag. I have been calling the customer service at the NRA and each time I have been told: We have just ran out and the new shipment is on back order.Desired Settlement: Either send the camouflage duffel bag or refund my membership in full.

Business

Response:

Review: About a month ago I started to receive e-mails from the National Rifle Association. I have never hunted nor owned a weapon, and have no desire to be on an NRA mailing list. I attempted to remove from two of their e-mail lists, but continued to receive more e-mails. On April 16, I contacted the NRA's membership services directly and directed that they remove me from all of their e-mail lists. On April 19, I received an e-mail from them stating that I was on their "Do not promote" file, which I assumed meant that they would stop contacting me. Yet, this morning I received an e-mail from them about their National Rifleman magazine. They have obviously not followed through on their promise. Their advertising practices are predatory and they engage in spam.Desired Settlement: I want the NRA's marketing practices investigated and when it is discovered that, as evidenced above, they are as deceptive in their marketing as they are in their policies, they are brought up on federal charges.

Consumer

Response:

Attached is a .pdf file of all the e-mails I have received from the NRA since April 6. Any received before that have been permanently deleted. You can see that I unsubscribed from their e-mails -- actually twice, once before this one -- and received confirmation that their member services had put me on their no contact list. However, I have since received two e-mails in the past two days, as is clearly seen on this e-mail. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Business

Response:

We removed [redacted]'s e-mail list from our server. E-mail addresses are selected in advance so it may take a few days for any planned e-mails to work their way out of the system, if that has not happened already.

Review: my husband [redacted], died May 26. He paid his dues through April 2016. He is dead and no longer will be a member or need mailings or need the magazine subscription, valued at $3.75/yr.I have called, left VM for [redacted], sent 3 emails off the NRA website under contact us and no one has returned an email or phone call. First call Oct. 21, then on website Oct 23, then 10/28 and now today. They are getting the web forms since I received 2 auto replies that my problem, now complaint has been received. I am very upset that no calls back or would help. This is the poorest business ethics I have seen from an non profit or for profit. This organization preaches about rights, freedom, personal actions, independence and so on, but has no concern for the customers who pay their bills/salaries. I just want a refund of $37.44 for a dead man's son who needs the refund. I want a personal apology for ignoring me and providing the worst service I have experienced. The government has better service than this non profit. As a senior I am appalled how a non profit can treat a US Citizen or any human being for that matter. I want action.Regards,[redacted], membership 000xxx-xx-xxxxDesired Settlement: check for $37.44 and apology letter ASAP

Revdex.com:

You sent a follow-up message about this today, stating you had not received a response. On the contrary, you should have received my out of office reply stating I would be out until today. Nevertheless, when I then tried to respond to the message sent today, an error occurred on your end so I am responding to the initial one.

The complaint seems to have been made on Nov 1, but then sent to NRA much later. On November 13, NRA responded to [redacted] stating:

This email is in response to

your recent correspondence concerning **. [redacted].

We are very sorry to hear that **. [redacted] passed away. The NRA regrets this loss of a dedicated member of

our Association and his passing has been noted on our membership rolls today.

Unfortunately Membership dues are not refundable. The NRA policy on

refunds is set by our Board of Directors and Members, which is printed on all

Membership materials. It reads:

“Contributions,

gifts and membership dues made or paid to the National Rifle Association are

not refundable or transferable and are not deductible as charitable

contributions for Federal income tax purposes.”

You may receive mail that we

have already printed for him, but nothing new will be printed and mailed. I am

very sorry for your loss and would like to offer my prayers and condolences.

I trust this information proved helpful.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because

Firstly, my name is spelled incorrectly by the respondent. How embarrassing. They did not read the complaint, just gave a programmed

Form answer. Why wasn't I called back when I originally left a VM to [redacted]? I am traveling and do not have my notes.

Review: I joined the NRA on 3/28/2004, it is now over 2 weeks later, and I have not received my membership packet. Membership begins when dues are paid. I am paying for a membership, for which I can not use, because the NRA will not send the membership materials. I have sent 2 emails, which have been unanswered. The practice of taking money for membership, and then denying the paid member the opportunity to use their membership, is wrong and must be stopped.Desired Settlement: Refund the membership fee of $25.00

Review: THE NRA HAS CALLED OUR HOUSE MANY MANY TIMES. SOMETIMES TWO AND THREE TIMES A DAY. ON MY [redacted] CARD STATEMENT I SAW A BILL FROM THIS COMPANY FOR $50.00. I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID MY HUSBAND DONATED $50.00. I ASKED HIM HE SAID HE DIDN'T DO THIS. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY SAID HE GAVE HIM THE CARD NUMBER. FIRST OF ALL MY HUBAND IS UNDER THE CARE OF HOSPICE HOME CARE. HE REALLY DOESNT DO MUCH ON PHONE SO I AM NOT SURE HOW IT DID THIS. HE WAS A MEMBER AT ONE TIME SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS WHERE THEY HAD HIS CARD NUMBER. I DID CALL [redacted] AND THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REACH THE NRA. AS OF YET THEY HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM. NOT ONLY AM I UPSET OVER THE $50.00 BUT I HAVE CALLED THIS COMPANY SPOKE TO MANY PEOPLE TO REMOVE OUR NAME AND NUMEBR FROM THE CALLING LIST THIS HAS BEEN AT LEAST 25 DAYS SINCE I FIRST CALLED. I SPOKE TO A [redacted] HE SAID HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE MATTER THEN TODAY I SPOKE TO A [redacted] WHO WOULDN'T GIVE ME HIS LAST NAME BECAUSE HE SAID HE DOESN'T HAVE TO. I HAVE ALL THE CALLS ON MY PHONE SHOWING HOW MANY TIMES THEY HAVE CALLED AND EVEN TODAY A [redacted] CALLLED AND I ALSO ADVISED HER DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE THI REFUND OF THE 50.00 AND I WOULD ALSO REQUEST THAT THIS COMPANY DOESNT CALL US ANY MORE.

Business

Response:

Our records show the request to be placed on our Do Not Call list went in on September 3 and that she has made a dispute with the credit card company. (This donation was made in response to a phone call placed not to the complaint but her husband.) She needs to follow up with her credit card company. Nevertheless, calls should stop to the number called (if that is different than the daytime number provided in the complaint) if they have not already and otherwise a dispute has already been made as to the charges.

I trust this information proved helpful.

Review: In March I received a solicitation in the mail asking me to join the NRA, even though I'm already a member. I decided to buy a membership as a gift for my wife- [redacted]. I pasted a label with her name on it over mine on the form and mailed it along with a check on 3/8/13. The check was deposited in [redacted] on 3/15/13. I renewed my membership online using a credit card on 3/17/13. I received my new membership card in April, but [redacted] has not received her membership package yet. The membership comes with a subscription to your choice of NRA magazines. I signed up for the American Rifleman and hers was to be the American Hunter. I am now receiving the American Hunter magazine. I contacted the NRA about this using their websites contact form on 4/15/13. Other then an acknowledgement that they received the message I did not receive a response. I emailed them again on 4/18/13. They responded by stating that I needed to contact them by phone. When I did this, the customer service person told me they were going to transfer my call, instead the call was disconnected. I emailed them again on 5/13/13, but have not received a response. My membership # is [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want my Wife's-([redacted] ) membership activated, with a subscription to American Hunter, and I want my renewal to include the subscription I requested for American Rifleman.

Business

Response:

After looking into this, it was reported to me a few minutes ago that **. [redacted] did send in a mailing, but it did not create a

duplicate account. Instead it extended his NRA membership for 1 year and

changed his magazine choice to Hunter. (Simply scratching out or replacing the name may go unnoticed in the automated system we use. Instead, the system picks up on other codes on the form.) On 5/31/13, the NRA Membership Division

corrected this by moving the 1 year term to a new membership for his wife,

Sandy. The membership number for her is [redacted]. She should have

received her credentials by now and her first issue of Hunter should arrive in the

next week or two. We reordered creds for her and him just to be

safe. Also, his magazine was not changed back to Rifleman, so I took care

of that today and we are sending him the last 3 issues. I hope this information proved helpful.

Response:

This is a followup to complaint # [redacted]. The NRA was supposed to fix a problem with the magazine subscription for my wife. She is supposed to receive the American Hunter, while I receive the American Rifleman. We both received the September and October issues of the Rifleman. I contacted the NRA by email on 8/25/13. other then a automatically generated response, I have not heard from them.

Review: I have previously filed a complaint against the NRA for unwanted advertising and solicitations. The NRA continued to send me correspondence despite multiple attempts to opt out. I considered its refusal to heed my requests an act of disrespect. Once a supporter of the NRA their practice has turned me completely away. My complaint was processed and closed more than a year ago, maybe two - I don't remember when. The NRA stopped sending me correspondence (the email address I use is [redacted]). However, now they are at it again. I have received emails from "American Warrior" ([redacted]) telling me "NRA American Warrior No. 13 is HERE" and various other subjects, on the following dates so far: Feb 13, 2013; Apri 10, 2013; May 30, 2013; and June 13, 2013. I attempted to unsubscribe to the list before filing this complaint. Maybe I'll be removed from the list. However, since I've already filed a complaint against the NRA 2 times in the past, and they've continued to disrespect my privacy by spamming my inbox, I'm filing another complaint. If the NRA didn't have an abusive marketing policy or the inability of keeping track of their opt out lists, I'd be a member today.

Business

Response:

According to our records, we removed the e-mail address on June 20, the day before the complaint was sent to us. Requests to unsubscribe may take a few days to take effect as e-mails are planned in advance. In addition, NRA has various affinity programs. Unsubscribing from the e-mail list, for example, of a bank offering a NRA credit card may have no effect on e-mails sent from NRA Competitions. Nevertheless, the e-mail was removed. If a person gets an unwanted e-mail, they are always free to unsubscribe or simply delete the message. I hope this information proved helpful.

Review: [redacted]

I do accept this businesses response, however I want to provide feedback. My general complaint is that I subscribed to an NRA publication, and all of a sudden I was bombarded by NRA and NRA "affinity" programs. I don't know where everything was coming from but it was frequent, annoying, and I couldn't get it to stop until I contacted the Revdex.com. Then, a couple years later, it started again. If not for all the spam I'd be an NRA member. My bottom line is that I feel the NRA has failed to respect or protect my privacy, however it happened, and I want them to know about it.

Thank you,

Beware!!! I sent in a renewal two years ago, TWO YEARS AGO. I never received my membership card, and since I had moved three months after renewing, I emailed them for a new card and with a mailing address.
When they failed again to respond, despite numerous attempts to secure the card, I contacted them - again, SEVERAL TIMES, and advised I wanted my money back since they either couldn't or wouldn't send me a membership card.
They flat out refused, stating they did not give refunds. So, I was left with NOTHING, no way to prove membership or receive the benefits associated therewith, for two years.
Now, they have the nerve to send me a renewal form!!! Not only was this ONLY a temporary mailing address, they did NOT have permission to share any of my information with their affiliates. Rot in h[redacted] NRA.

Review: NRA called high pressure selling to sell me a new membership. I asked the representative if my prior membership had expired and he advised yes. When in fact my wife had just renewed the membership and paid the dues. they were selling me a 2016 membership?. The NRA representative did not provide accurate information related to the status of my membership. I later spoke with my wife and she advised we had already paid for another years membership. I called NRA to advise that I was not given the correct info by the NRA and did not wish to extend the membership. They continue to send me past due notices. The representative provided incorrect information as to the status of my account Note when I spoke with the NRA to complain they advised the sales people do not have access to the correct membership account status when they call. This is a unfair trade practice. They need to be more clear with the status of your account when calling asking to renew.Desired Settlement: request a letter from NRA that no further solicitations. No further membership request. Cancel any further memberships. Refund an amounts due. And most important no report to any credit reporting agencies. Suggest the NRA listen to any recordings on the call made to me about this membership extension. Suggest the NRA have their sales people provide the correct information to its customers. The past due notice is unclear it does not state what period the membership if for. It is a unfair trade practice that the invoice does not state the period the membership is for.

Response:

Revdex.com:First, let me apologize to **. and [redacted] for the confusion and their understandable annoyance. The individuals who place calls are provided with very limited information concerning our Members. That information does include, however, an expiration date but only that date listed when the file is pulled for callers to use. They do not have access to real-time information so [redacted]' wife's recent renewal would not have been known to the person calling. Similarly, other information concerning [redacted]' Membership would not have been known. We are very protective of our Members' information.Subsequent to the instant file being pulled (where [redacted]' Membership showed an October, 2014 expiration) we received the renewal. It appears the individual spoke to [redacted] on or about September 26, 2014. I assure you the confusion was not intentional. Membership in NRA is purely voluntary. We never send some "bill me" account to a collection agency -- ever. This particular "bill me" was cancelled this afternoon. If any letters concerning it are received after today the process for their creation started before today. Please tell [redacted] they can be thrown away.I understand the frustration and the desire to cancel his Membership. I hope he will reconsider. Please have him write me directly at [redacted]@nrahq.org. I am a staff member, at Headquarters, and, like [redacted], a Member. Instead of quitting, I would like to extend his Membership another year at no cost to help make up for the annoyance. Please have him write me directly either way so I can have the account updated, no matter which option he chooses.I hope this information proved helpful.Sincerely,Skipp *. G[redacted]Assistant General Counsel

Review: Frequent calls, 1-3/day to the house phone. Personnel will hang up on you when you ask them to stop calling or why they are calling. They call after 8 pm. The personnel are rude and ignorent. Alternate phone number for [redacted] was provided on multiple occasions but they keep calling the house.Desired Settlement: Stop calling our house!

Business

Response:

When we last contacted **. [redacted], on Nov. 17, his wife (who, according to our records, picked up all completed calls made to him and, presumably, made this complaint even though it lists his name (but then discusses him in the 3rd person)), asked that the number not be called. The number was then put on our internal do not call list. Numbers to be called are selected in advance so it may take a day or two for that to take effect. Nevertheless, that was a couple of weeks ago. Regarding the request to contact him on a different number, our records show that request but we were never given a different number to call. The caller did provide information on contacting NRA headquarters, via phone, to get the contact number changed. Although NRA, as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization enjoys certain exemptions under the federal and various state do not call laws, we do not want to bother those not wanting to be contacted nor do we wish to waste resources doing so. Again, the number was added to the list last month and before receiving this complaint. The complaint also does not appear to be from the individual actually listed in the complaint. Nevertheless, the number is on the list. I trust this information proved helpful.

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

In response to the complaint of [redacted], complaint #[redacted], please see the attached documents. As we discussed this morning, this response is sent as required by Revdex.com and with the understanding and agreement that neither you nor Revdex.com will provide this e-mail, either in whole or in part, to Buoscio.

You can also Google his name as well as the address provided in the complaint, which should lead you to the [redacted] Correctional Institution. [redacted] is not a member of NRA. He previously sued NRA and his case was dismissed.

I trust this information proved helpful and that this attempt to use Revdex.com as a sword will not count against any Revdex.com rating of NRA.

Review: Signed up as an NRA member on 2/17. I provided my home mailing address and email address. It seems I unintentionally signed myself up for a barrage of marketing campaigns, mostly email. I tried to opt out of their email campaigns by using the unsubscribe link that appeared on only SOME of the messages I received. Of the ones that included a link, it quickly became clear that I was a part of numerous "lists" that they manage. The first unsub confirmed I was unsubscribed from the "wine" list. Then, I was unsubscribed from the "general" list. And so on and so on. After a few weeks of unsuccessfully unsubscribing, I contacted them using their online form, requested they remove me from all marketing lists (direct mail, email, phone) and stop selling/renting my personal information. The marketing campaigns continued. I called, they confirmed that they'd put me on the "do not contact" list. The flood continued. I contacted them online again, they confirmed again I would not be contacted but that it would take up to 30 days. 30 days later, it continued. I asked what else I could do, and they apologized for the trouble and said it'd just take awhile. I have written confirmation dated 3/16 that they "removed me" from their marketing lists, yet over 45 days later, I still get mail in my inbox and my mailbox.Desired Settlement: Written confirmation that they've:

1. removed my mailing address (entire household), email address, and phone number from all marketing lists.

2. flagged my personal info as "do not sell" or "do not rent"

3. closed/deactivated my account

Business

Response:

Sorry for the delay in responding. I was waiting on confirmation from our IS department. The e-mail address has been removed from our system. E-mails to be sent are selected in advance so if another message arrives, please be patients while any pre-selected addresses work their way out of the system.

Review: In January of 2014 received a membership re-subscription offer for a 5 year membership. This offer included commemorative gifts. I responded and sent 100 dollar payment for subscription and gifts.By March I received my new membership card but as of this date I still haven't received any gifts. In the interim I have sent numerous scathing e-mails to NRA customer service, NRA store and have contacted NRA customer services via phone about my dissatifaction with this issue. I have warned the NRA of my intent to contact the Revdex.com, rescend my long time membership and domand my 100 dollars back. They have informed me that my money is not refundable, each time I contact them they state the gifts will be another 8-10 weeks and thank you for supporting the NRA. This rediculous and unacceptable. Due I have any grounds for refund of my 100 dollars ?Desired Settlement: Refund of 100 dollars, rescending of membership and no further correspondence from the NRA.

Business

Response:

I would like to start this response by apologizing to **. [redacted] for the items being on back-order. We processed his Membership renewal on February 25 and the items were ordered on February 26. Unfortunately, due to the large response to this particular offer, the back-order resulted. When something like that happens there is little we can do but wait until the items come in and in sufficient number. For these items, they have been arriving and they should go out to him any day now (our records do not show they have shipped yet).We have a record of his communications, starting two weeks after we processed his renewal. But, again, there was nothing we could do to speed the process up and, as stated previously, membership dues are not refundable per NRA governing documents.**. [redacted] is a long-time Member of NRA and I, along with NRA, do not want to lose him as a Member and, again, I apologize for the understandably annoying delay. I would like to offer him a free one-year extension on his Membership as well as an additional premium, a Bullet Pen. We have those in stock and they can be sent immediately. I hope he will take us up on that offer and accept my sincere apology as a fellow long-term Member. I can be contacted directly at [redacted]. I can then get a buddy of mine in our Membership Division to take care of this personally.Again, I am sorry for the delay and the annoyance and I hope we can resolve this and restore **. [redacted]'s faith in our NRA.[redacted]

Subject: Re: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania in regards to your complaint #[redacted].

To: [email protected]

Thank You, hoping to see the NRAs' response, this situation has been rediculous. I have been a member in good syanding for more than 29 years. This was minimally false advertising, maximally a scam to elicit more funds.

Review: The main issue is with the Telemarketing Calls. I receive several calls a week from the NRA. I have asked them numerous times to please stop calling me and to take my name and number off their call list. They always say they will but the calls still keep coming and I am also registered with the "National Do Not Call Registry" for at least the last 7-8 months and have filed complaints to them as well. Is there anything the Revdex.com can do to stop them from calling me? This also interrupts my home-based business line as well.Desired Settlement: I would like for the calls from the NRA to stop calling my home/business number(s)

Please note that numbers to be called are selected in advance so it will take a few days for any calls to stop.I hope this information proved helpful.
