Northeastern Van Lines Reviews (60)

First off the box that was missing was shipped and returned to this customer.  I have the shipping bill and tracking number if you would like to view it as well as any and all contracts and documents concerning this move. We do many moves and it took some time to find the statue that the...

customer lost but we found it and it was shipped.  I would just like to point out that this customer had a two part move that had to be done over three days.  We sent one 26 foot box truck to Sleepy Hollow New York that was loaded full to the door. The second truck was supposed to go to her apartment and pick up a few boxes and a bed and closet. I called the customer the day before and the day of the move to confirm what we were picking up and she continued to lie to me and tell me a couple of boxes a bed and closet. When you arrived on location we were hit with the surprise.  It turned out that she needed full packing of the apartment. About 36 full sized painting and sculptures.  The customer complained all through the move and had issues with the time it was taking to pack every one of her dishes and paintings. The loading of her home took two days and she refused to pay for almost all of the packing materials that were used and I have the contracts to prove that they did not pay for almost all of the packing materials. At the last minute [redacted] called me and told me I had an issue with the move in New Hampshire. He informed me that there was a bridge that we had to cross that would not hold the weight of the two 29,000 pound trucks that were holding his items. I informed him that we would need a shuttle to drive over the bridge and bring the items to the house.  His words “I don’t care what it costs”. I gave him the price of the shuttle and the labor hours it would take to do the job which was about $850.00. The bottom line here is they did not pay for the packing material they did not pay for the shuttle and ended up getting away with almost $3000.00 in charges that I had every right to collect. If there is anything more I could do to make this customer happy please let me know.

P.S. I would like to add that [redacted] would not stop complimenting the foreman [redacted] for the job that he did. He even made me promise to send [redacted] again to deliver his items in New Hampshire.

Thank You
[redacted]

Hello, I have had many conversations with [redacted] in which I told him every detail and more including where we were located and were the trucks would be coming from. On the day of the move before the crew started working he called me and asked me again about the charges including the travel time and I told him again what the charges would be. He was in his car and on his way to the bank and agreed to the charges. I have never once talked to you and I did not know who you were until you called me and yelled at me after the job was completed. This job was not booked by you your contact information was not listed in the request for a quote and your credit card was not used to place the deposit. At this point I am not even obligated to speak to you about this job but I am because as a member of the Revdex.com community I would like to be as transparent as possible. If you were not happy with the terms and conditions of the move that were given to [redacted] that is between you and [redacted]. I have no contract with your name on it and I never transacted any business with you. I do not appreciate you slandering me and my company online and telling people that you wish I would swallow my tongue. You have a very nasty mouth. As far as the deposit is concerned I will look into this issue and get back to [redacted]. If there are any damages to your home or your items [redacted] is more than welcome to file a claim with our insurance company. Do not contact me anymore or leave anymore comments about me online or I will contact my attorney. Any further issues should be handled by the customer that booked the job who is [redacted].

[Your Answer Here         The  response from the company is a complete lie.  they NEVER told me, what they said to you in their response.   if I had known that they were not a storage company, and they charged 225.00 monthly, why in the world would I have gone with them, when I had another offer from a company that was charging me 124.00 monthly?    I received a call from [redacted], the [redacted] of the moving company today and he was extremely nasty, rude and disrespectful to me on the phone, so I also got lout with him.  He then called the secretary [redacted] and we were on a 3 way call, and I repeated to him, just what was told to me by [redacted] when I initially spoke to her.  I NEVER, EVER spoke to [redacted] until he called me on the [redacted] January to get the payment for the storage, so how can he know, or say what was told to me by his secretary.  When he called me, he started shouting and yelling and was  telling me that he is going to put my stuff out of the storage and auction it off.  I told them that I do not want to have anything to do with them and I will see about getting my stuff out of their storage.  I NEVER initially gave them any time frame for how long I will be needing the storage for.  They are a bunch of liars, and of course his secretary will tell him what he needs to hear to save her job.  They are lying by saying that they explained to me that they are not a storage and that I will have to pay 225.00 a month.  that's a complete lie.  I was told I will pay 67.00 a month and that is why I went with them instead of the other company.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]  Please note that I have attached to this response a letter which repeats the following statement.
I refuse to stoop to the level of vitriol and calumny suffusing [redacted]’s most recent statement.
            I emphatically repeat:
1.  [redacted] knowingly and illegally retained a sculpture of mine.  The sculpture was vandalized while it was being illicitly held by [redacted]’s company.
2.  [redacted]’s company failed to manage my move in an appropriate professional manner:
a.  Numerous charges—packing, storage, shuttle—were not specified in writing until after my household goods had been delivered.
b.  The company failed to provide a Bill of Lading on the pick-up day.
c.  The company failed to provide a Revised Written Binding Estimate until after my household goods had reached New Hampshire.  When it did provide such an Estimate, it
unscrupulously pre-dated the estimate to make it appear as if the Estimate had been completed on the pick-up day.
d.  The initial Written Estimate of $3,900 ballooned to over $11,000.  As I wrote in my previous statement: [redacted] conned me “out of several thousand dollars in fees that were added without either prior agreement or proper documentation.”
e.  Furniture, floors, and dishware were damaged as a result of sloppy practice and amateurish packing.
And so I repeat:  According to my experience, Northeastern Van Lines, also known as On Point Moving and Storage, routinely and brazenly contravenes federal regulations regarding interstate moves.  I believe that this company is unfit to do business, and I urge the federal authorities to investigate its practices further.
Sincerely,

This customer tried to get me to buy him a new cat box. The cat box cost almost $300.00. The Forman was questioned about the cat box and told me it was old and as soon as he picked it up it broke in his hands. I spoke with the customer about the cat box and felt bad about it and offered to pay what...

we were liable for which is 30 cents per pound per article. He didn't want that so I offered him $100. Upon further review we feel he only deserves what we are legally obligated to pay for a broken cat box lid. So if he sends me the weight of the item I would be happy to pay him 30 per pound per article.   Thank youMike

[redacted],
I thank you for your attempt to help me resolve this issue, however it appears to be futile.
It's apparent that Michael prefers to argue instead of just admitting he intentionally under quoted and misrepresented the job in order to get the business. At his request during our first phone conversation I clearly listed all the items that needed to be moved, the fact that it was a 2nd floor unit with a turn and landing in the staircase moving to a rear unit lower level condo 3.5 miles away. All of this is the truth and I lied to him about nothing. I understand how estimates work and expected slightly higher charges because of possible unforeseen issues. I however did not expect the price to quadruple.
My wish is that this information be made public so that others hopefully research and read about Michael & Northeastern before giving him a chance to take advantage them. I will not argue with him thru you any further!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here] Please note that the entire contents of this Answer are included in the attached letter.
 1.  My complaint concerned a sculpture that [redacted] illegally retained in his possession.
In his response, [redacted] deceitfully and unscrupulously brushes off the main thrust of this complaint.  I unequivocally declare:
[redacted] illicitly and intentionally withheld from us a prized sculpture for five weeks.  [redacted]’s moving team misplaced the box containing this artwork. Through a single phonecall they were able to locate it in New York on the day of the delivery (July **, 2014).  From the first day of our conversation with him about the missing piece—on Wednesday, July **—[redacted] readily acknowledged possessing the sculpture.  He ignored repeated requests that he send the sculpture to us.
Only after receiving:
a. a formal letter from an attorney at MoveRescue warning him of the legal consequences of his failure to ship the
sculpture;  and
b. at least one pointed phonecall from an agent of the Department of Transportation’s Federal Moving Carrier Safety Administration apprising him of both his obligations and the consequences of failing to honor those obligations
did [redacted] ship the sculpture.  He did so on September *, 2014—again, five weeks after he first acknowledged having the sculpture in his possession.  In effect, he held the sculpture hostage for this duration, in an attempt to make returning the sculpture contingent on our payment of fraudulent charges which he produced only after  (a) we called him about the missing sculpture, and (b) we had paid our written moving bill in full!

Both MoveRescue and the FMCSA sharply rebuked [redacted]’s behavior.  MoveRescue’s letter to him was stern and
unequivocal; a key passage reads as follows.
As you [[redacted]] are aware, carriers such as NEVL [Northeastern Van Lines] are obligated under federal law
to make delivery of shipments received under a bill of lading.  49 U.S.C. §80110.  Penalties for failure to do so include fines
and imprisonment up to five years.  49 U.S.C. §80116.  Additionally, carriers are required to release a shipment upon payment of no more than the original estimate. 49 C.F.R. §375.703.
In sum, [redacted]’s behavior regarding our sculpture was scurrilous and illegal.
Unfortunately, the story surrounding our sculpture does not end with [redacted] dropping the box off at a FedEx
location.  The statue arrived on September *, 2014.  We were alarmed and dismayed to discover that it was damaged—and evidence clearly suggests that the damage occurred between the moment the statue left the apartment and the time [redacted] dropped it off at the FedEx shipment site.   The statue was in pristine condition on July **, 2014, the day the movers arrived.  I watched the movers wrap the sculpture in bubble-wrap and place it in a box. When it emerged from its box on September * in New Hampshire, it was no longer wrapped in bubble-wrap;  it was wrapped in plastic sheeting, which had
in turn been encased in a furniture blanket.  Upon unwrapping, it was immediately apparent that the tip of this wooden
sculpture had broken off (or been purposefully excised).  The missing part was not in the shipping container.  The damage could not have occurred during shipment.  My sculpture was vandalized while it was being illegally held by Northeastern Van Lines.
2.  The balance of [redacted]’s response highlights the dodgy, unprincipled, and highly unprofessional nature of his
business practices.  Although our original complaint did not address the many vexations and humiliations we
experienced at the hands of [redacted]’s company, we are happy to walk through the door he has opened in his response. We review below the shoddy and illegitimate work for which he is responsible.
a.       My partner and I hired Northeastern Van Lines in early July to move our household goods from New York to New Hampshire.  [redacted] agreed on pick-up at two different sites, one in Manhattan and the other in Sleepy Hollow, on July **, 2014. [redacted] provided a shipping cost estimate of $3,900 to move 1,300 cubic feet of consolidated household goods from both locations.
In the course of two phone conversations with [redacted]’s agent, [redacted], my partner
highlighted four expectations regarding the packing of items in the Manhattan apartment:
1)     There were 15 oil paintings that would require special wrapping.
2)     Northeastern Van Lines movers would pack the contents of the kitchen, including all glassware, dishes, pots and pans, and dry goods.
3)     Northeastern Van Lines movers would pack the contents of two closets.
4)     The furniture in the apartment included a bed, lamps, and seven other pieces.
My partner also had a conversation with [redacted] a few days before the move, in which he
reminded [redacted] of items 1), 2), and 3) above.  A list of all the furniture was included in
the “Moving Estimate” that we received from [redacted]’s agent.
[redacted]’s declaration, “The second truck was supposed to go to her apartment and pick up a few boxes and a bed and closet,” is thus a grotesque misrepresentation of the facts—and it exposes the dubious, half-baked nature of
Northeastern Van Lines’ estimation procedures.  It is curious that [redacted] should blame his customers for both the inadequacy of those procedures and the fecklessness of the employees charged with implementing them.
b.      [redacted] falsely declares that he reported an extra charge of $850 to cover the costs
of shuttling our household goods across a small bridge.  It must be emphatically stated that [redacted] failed to specify in writing a single detailed charge associated with this move until after all household goods had been delivered to the destination.  This was a classic “bait-and-switch” scheme:
1)     We received an initial written estimate of $3900.
2)     A day after our goods were loaded onto the trucks, [redacted] informed us in a phone conversation that our final charges were going to be in excess of $11,000.  He provided no written accounting of these charges.
3)     On delivery day, with our household goods waiting on the truck outside our house to be unloaded, the team foreman
presented us with another oral estimate, this one exceeding $12,000.  Under duress to get our goods unloaded, we negotiated that sum down to $11,000; we paid this latter sum in full. Only after our possessions were off-loaded did the
foreman hand to us a “Revised Written Binding Estimate” of $11,000 that covered all the alleged extra charges.  This
Revised Written Binding Estimate was pre-dated July **—the pick-up day.
As numerous attorneys and federal agents have averred to us, three critical elements of this procedure are both unethical and illegal:
     (1) the inflating of the original estimate from $3,900 to $11,000;
     (2) the failure to provide a Bill of Lading clearlydelineating all charges on the pick-up day; and
     (3) the pre-dating of the Revised Written Binding Estimate.
We are therefore holding [redacted] accountable for (a) destroying a sculpture he held illegally
for five weeks, (b) failing to complete the Bills of Lading in accordance with federal guidelines, and (c) conning us out of several thousand dollars in fees that were added without either prior agreement or proper documentation.
According to our experience, Northeastern Van Lines, also known as On Point Moving and Storage, routinely and brazenly contravenes federal regulations regarding interstate moves.  We believe that this company is unfit to do business, and we urge the federal authorities to investigate its practices further.
                                        ... Sincerely yours,
                                                                               [redacted]

1. It was witnessed that the movers were standing around talking during the time they were supposed to be packing th moving truck with nmy belongings. The movers were going over the logistics of the move when they were talking outside the truck. They do this by speaking with words from their...

mouths. In order to make sure all of the items fit and are secured properly they workers have to coordinate the loading before the truck is loaded. 2. They dropped several items causing damage to my property. (Chest Freezer) This was not brought to the foreman's attention the day of the move. The customer called me the day after and told me of this situation. I questioned the foreman and he told me that this was not the case. I then told the foreman to contact the customer to find out what happened. At this time we are not aware of any damages caused by our workers. Of course the customer is free to file a claim for any damages. 3. They Banged the Head Board to my bed causing the wood to shear off. The customer was offered packing services before the work started and refused packing on all items except the televisions. We are not responsible for items that are not packed properly or damage caused by refusal to pack properly. This damage was not witnessed by the foreman. The foreman offered to fix the chip to the item for the customer even though it was done before we arrived the customer told him no. 4. Upon arrival at my new location they dropped my entertainment center. This never happened I have no ides what he is talking about. The foreman said this never accrued. 5. Upon entering the apartment they put a hole in the bedroom door. I reached out to the owner/manager of the company to make him aware of damages and I was placed on hold. He came back on and transferred me to the driver. The driver became defensive and tried denying everything. I in advance pointed out these thing to the driver the day of the incident which was November**, 2014. The owner/manager said they would call me back and to date I have heard nothing from them. The foreman was questioned about this and does not recall any damages to the bedroom door. 6. I was charged twice the quoted amount plus an additional $90.00 for them going past a set time. The dirver stoped on the way to deliver my things for a break,           The customer was made aware of our charges on more than one occasion he was told the job will be billed by the hour and if it goes over the estimated amount of time he will be billed additionally by the hourly rate of $90 per hour. The reason we waited is because the customer had to go to the rental office to get the keys because he did not have them.           bathroom and coffee on my time. This was unfair.

I have been in constant contact with this customer and what I will tell you is that almost everything he is saying is true. All but the fact that he told us when we picked up his stuff that he was not in a hurry to get his stuff and that there are hundreds of complaints about my company online and...

that we are the worst moving company out there and that I have not been in touch with him about his move and that the authorities have been in touch with me about his load!  In fact I just called this customer about 2 minutes after this complaint was emailed to me and went in on him for lying about every claim he is making about my company and told him if he wants his stuff and his money back I will be happy to give it to him TODAY!!! We have been doing this a long time and do not rip customers off. You used my company because we were willing to ship your stuff cheaply. I knew you did not have a big load and you said you were not in a hurry so I agreed to take it. But now you want to complain about my service. Look this is why we avoid people that cant afford a moving company in the first place. I offered to give you a credit for taking so long to make the delivery. Your contract does not have a specific delivery date listed on it and there was no specific delivery date promised. If you slander me or my company again online I will contact my lawyer and you will be the one with the problems Kyle.

This business has not easy to work with or honest since telling us we would receive a refund, back in April 2016.   At no point did we communicate this litter box was $300. We sent the company the refund paperwork and links to the website where the item was purchased, showing it had a value of $150. We were also told he needed this paperwork for his insurance company before we could receive a refund, so we completed it in a timely manner.  The item is not old, it was purchased in December 2015 and we can produce a receipt. So his employees lied to him about the condition of the box, that is not our fault. We have emails with the company owner (Michael Boston) being told a check was in the mail. Anytime we followed up about the check we were always told a check would be in the mail. We followed up by email with the owner on April **, April ** and May *, each time we were told a check was being sent so we were emailing him to say nothing was received. In July we realized our relative live fairly close to their office in NY, so we encourage the owner to meet with them and give them a check/cash, since mailing one was clearly not getting done. This is when the owner started reaching out us by text conversation, and was rude and insulting (also have copies of this).  We are not looking to get more than what the item cost. However, when something is broken during a move, by the moving company, we expect a timely refund from them and not to be jerked around, lied to repeatedly, and insulted.

This customer never expressed any dissatisfaction to me about her job but I am truly sorry she had a bad experience with my company. Please except our sincerest apologies and 20% off your next move on us.    I am sorry that every time you called and spoke to me about how bad the management...

of your building was treating you and that you had to change the moving date and I did it for you that that was bad customer service to you. I wonder if you know how the other customer felt each time you called me up to change the date and they had to get bumped because of you. You changed the date of your move about 4 or 5 times. Each time I had to remove someone from that slot and give it to you. A service we normally charge $50 for.    You want an apology from the owner ok I'm sorry. As far as your ironing board cover. Send me the weight of it and we will pay for it. We are liable for 30 cents per pound per article.      Thank you Mike   Remember me. I'm the one you kept saying thank you to over and over again. Ever time you cancelled and changed the date. Remember "god bless you mike"

I spoke with this customer yesterday after receiving this complaint and listened to his issues. I then placed him km a conference call with the sales representative that booked his job. He I asked her with him on the phone if he was told any of this and she explained exactly what was told to him. He said he only needed storage for a month or less. We gave him a month for free and he was well aware that he would be charged for anytime after that and what the charges would be. I asked him if [redacted] was lying to me and he said no! I told him that the best option at this point would be for him to come and get his stuff asap and that I would not charge him for the week that he said it would take him to get the stuff out. That is a fair offer and I have nothing more to add to this issue. And yes I was nasty and rude because you seemed to be under the impression that you were speaking to a boy or an underling on the phone. Understand something you recived a contract spoke to the sales rep, myself and the forman on the day of the move you we took your job under the assumption that you were moving because that is what you told us. You paid your bill last month and now you want to try to say you were not aware of any of this. Do everyone a favor and come get your sfuff and stop wasting my company's valuable time. As of yesterday you have free storage for 7 days.

Northeastern Van lines
are a great and honest company. They stated that they will arrive at 9 am and they did and my job was done with in 5 hours. The workers are firm and caring individuals. I'm Grateful they made my move stress free I will recommend this company to anyone. Thank you Northeastern Van Lines I will use your services again in the future.

Review: My partner and I contracted with this company to move household goods from Sleepy Hollow and Manhattan to Plainfield, NH. On delivery day July [redacted], 2014, I noticed that a box containing an invaluable sculpture was missing. When my partner and I reported this to the shipping foreman, foreman made some phone calls and claimed to have located the box back in New York. He pledged to retrieve the box and promptly ship it to us. We paid the “revised written binding estimate” in full at the end of the delivery day. A few days later, having received no package, my partner called the [redacted], [redacted]. [redacted] reported that the box with the missing sculpture had indeed been located, and would be sent—but he then claimed that we owed an extra $800, despite the fact that we had paid written charges in full. Thereafter, we sent [redacted] several reminders about the missing sculpture. Each time he reminded us of the amount he claimed we owe. We have received no written invoice of these extra charges. It seems that mover is holding our sculpture hostage for spurious charges or has decided to keep it for his own benefit. I would like the Revdex.com to initiate a process that results in restoring this invaluable sculpture to our possession. .Desired Settlement: I would like the Revdex.com to initiate a process that results in restoring this invaluable sculpture to our possession

Response:

First off the box that was missing was shipped and returned to this customer. I have the shipping bill and tracking number if you would like to view it as well as any and all contracts and documents concerning this move. We do many moves and it took some time to find the statue that the customer lost but we found it and it was shipped.

Thank You

(1) the inflating of the original estimate from $3,900 to $11,000;

Sincerely yours,

[redacted]

Response:

Response:

Hello,

I'm going to respond to your allegations one more time. For you to accuse me of withholding your sculpture illegally is outlandish and foolish. You called me and inquired about the sculpture that you forgot on the truck. I questioned the foremen and it was still on the truck. [redacted] the foreman that you tried to accuse of using cocaine in your home that was found by a helper in your closet that obviously belonged to you found the statue and gave it to me. The sculpture sat in the box until I had a free chance to ship it. I managed your move perfectly I asked the appropriate questions to try to figure out what would be needed to move both loads and never received a clear answer from you or [redacted] as to what we were moving in your home. I almost sent a 16 foot truck but because I used better judgment I sent a 24 foot truck.

You were aware of every charge that you were charged. You received the contracts for both jobs and signed off on every charge. I even discounted your bill for charges that you and [redacted] agreed to before I booked your job. And I repeat as I stated before my company is Nautilus Capital Management, LLC DBA Northeastern Van Lines. I am located at [redacted]. The name change of my company is none of your business but I will tell you that my ex partner came up with the name and decided to take it with him when he left to open his own company. We are still listed with the FMCSA as On Point Moving and Storage. I am not hiding anything from anyone least of all you.

And just for your information further, the federal authorities should investigate you because as far as I know cocaine is legal in this country and you are so lucky that [redacted] didn't decide to call the police when [redacted] found that in your cupboard. We know that this is not an isolated indecent because we have had other situations when we have gone to a customers home and found people overdosed in the bathroom. My guys are very well trained to deal with customers such as yourself. And in response to the packing and sloppy practices you should be ashamed of yourself for making these allegations but I can see that you have no class so Im not surprised you are making them.

We spent two days in your home packing your items [redacted] crated over 30 paintings for you and you refused to pay for it after we arrived at your home. At the last minute you told me that we had to travel over a rickety bridge to get to the final stop to deliver your items. [redacted] told me the bridge would not support the weight of the trucks so I drove from NY to NH with a 16 foot truck to drive to unload your items from both trucks onto and drive them over the bridge to your home. And after all of this you and [redacted] have the nerve the audacity to accuse me and my company of wrong doing.

Fortunately for you I am a gentleman and a business man so I will leave it at that. You have every right to pursue this anyway you like. We can do it here or we can do it in court. At this point you have all pf your items and you still owe me over $800.00 that you and [redacted] agreed to pay me. I have nothing else to add to these complaints from this customer. I would like to get paid the balance for the job that is owed but Im sure that will never happen.

Thank You,

Review: Northeastern Van Lines was contracted to move my belongings from [redacted] in [redacted]. The movers arrived on time except during the move several things occurred.

1. It was witnessed that the movers were standing around talking during the time they were supposed to be packing th moving truck with nmy belongings.

2. They dropped several items causing damage to my property. (Chest Freezer)

3. They Banged the Head Board to my bed causing the wood to shear off.

4. Upon arrival at my new location they dropped my entertainment center.

6. I was charged twice the quoted amount plus an additional $90.00 for them going past a set time. The dirver stoped on the way to deliver my things for a break, bathroom and coffee on my time. This was unfair.Desired Settlement: Refund for 50% of paid amount.

Response:

1. It was witnessed that the movers were standing around talking during the time they were supposed to be packing th moving truck with nmy belongings. The movers were going over the logistics of the move when they were talking outside the truck. They do this by speaking with words from their mouths.

Sincerely,

Review: I had booked in move in and out times with respective buildings and confirmed the time with movers (On point moving and storage aka Nautilous) to be 11am. The day before, I received a call asking if we could push back the time of the move because they had another client that had changed their time. I said no because everything was setup previously and had been confirmed, they said ok no problem will be there at 11am. On the morning I received a call saying they were running late but should still make 11am. Then received multiple calls following saying they would be late. It was 1pm when they finally showed up, 2 hours late.

The movers were rushing to load the contents of the 1 bedroom apartment, including a large 55inch flatscreen TV, (worth$2,400) and less than a year old. The supervisor was distracted with his phone, charging it in my apartment and fielding calls throughout the moving process. Upon rushing and moving everything into the new apartment, it was time to settle the remaining payment. I learned from the supervisor, that the truck had incurred a parking penalty at the first building and this was going to be charged to me, even though they may not have incurred this fee had they been on time. The likelihood of this occurring was also not communicated to me earlier, however they made it seem as though it was common knowledge. Then they tried to charge me for the certificates of insurance for the buildings, even though this was never communicated to me previously in the fee estimate. Frustrated at all of this, I made the payment including their parking penalty of over $100 and they left the apartment.

The next morning the cable company came to setup the TV, after connecting everything, I turned on the TV to find the screen was completely destroyed! There was evidence that the TV had been struck by an object in the move. There was a spider web effect coming from a point on the right of the screen. The cost to replace the plus labour etc is estimated to be over $2000!!!! The warranty on the TV does not cover physical damage and hence I am now left to buy a new TV since the repair person said it would be uneconomical to repair!!!! Clearly resulting from their neglicence.

On calling company to discuss the damage I was questioned as to whether the tv had been working previously, insinuating I was not being honest. I was yelled at over the phone when questioning the parking penalty and why I had been responsible for it, I was enquiring because I have never used a moving company before and so I didn’t know whether this was standard routine, since it was not noted anywhere in previous communications. I then requested insurance paperwork over the phone and then followed up my request with numerous emails so I could make a claim for the damaged TV. Now, 7 weeks on and I have not hear from the moving company. Additionally, over the phone he stated that he should never have taken this job on and that it was more trouble than what it was worth. I informed him it wasn’t my fault he had not communicated the cost of certificates of insurance and any other items previously.Desired Settlement: make them accountable for their actions provide the necessary insurance coverage and be honest and admit that they destroyed the TV. They should replace the TV, or provide some sort of refund for the negligence.

Response:

First off it is not uncommon for moving companies to ask if a customer can change the time of a move. I asked the customer and she said no and I said no problem we will be there. Whoever, we have no control over traffic delays and the hassles of finding parking for large trucks in Manhattan. We ask that all of our customers be understanding to the fact that Manhattan is not easy to find parking or to drive large trucks through.

The truth is we try our best to get as close as we can to the customers location even leaving an extra man in the truck so that it does not get ticketed. In this case it was not possible and the customer would have been charged for a long carry or the truck would be ticketed. We informed her of the issue and the truck was ticketed. We do not pay for tickets to our trucks while doing a job for a customer.

We are very up front with all of our charges the foreman does a walkthrough of the location before he moves any items and explains all of the charges. An investigation was done about the tv and the foreman explained that the tv never left his sight and that if it was broken it had to be done before we arrived. She is welcome to file a claim with our insurance company at any time.

Thank You

Review: I was giving up my apartment in New York and wanted to move my furniture into storage until I was able to move it to North Carolina. I contacted a moving company in New Jersey that was going to move my furniture and put it in their storage for 124.00 a month. I was contacted by [redacted] from another company, North Eastern Van lines, who called me over 10 times to get my business. she told me that her company was going to charge me 80.00 per hour and it would be about 3 hours for the work to be done. I told her everything that is in my apartment that needed to be moved and put in storage. She said that she was going to speak to her supervisor about giving me a great deal on the storage and put me on hold for a few minutes. When she got back to me, she told me that the supervisor agreed that they would charge me only 67.00 a month for the storage, and because I thought that was a great deal, I decided to go with them and not use the company from New Jersey I was originally going with. On the day they were suppose to move my furniture, they arrived 2.5 hours late. when they were finished putting my furniture in the truck, the driver told me that [redacted] wanted to talk to me. she told me that the storage fee will not be 67.00 but 225.00 monthly. I was furious and was arguing with her, and explained to her that is not what I was told and I would have never gone with them if that was the case. she said her [redacted] will get in touch with me, which he did not. [redacted] called me on the [redacted] January when it was time for the first month payment, and he told me he would confirm with [redacted] that I was giving the quote of 67.00 and would get back to me the next day. I gave him the first payment of 225.00 but never heard from [redacted] again. I got a call from [redacted] on the [redacted] February to get another payment of 225.00 and I was told [redacted] I was not making any more payments because they gave me one quote to get my business and now they are trying to make me pay something different.Desired Settlement: [redacted] told me that the 225.00 I gave him would be used for a few months payment. [redacted] claims that I had more furniture than they thought even though I itemized everything to them everything I had before the move and I was given one fee of 67.00 and that is what I am suppose to be paying. They have to give me the storage for the price they quoted me originally which was 67.00 monthly, and not be trying to get me to pay 225.00 I would have never gone with them if that was the case

Business

Response:

I spoke with [redacted] in December and informed him of what his costs for storage would be. He agreed to pay and now he is saying he did not agree to the price. I told him in December that he would be posting $225 a month for storage and I gave him the first month for free. He knew what the costs were going to be and he had plenty of time to make other arrangements to store his stuff. We are not a storage facility we are a moving company. We store our customers items as a service for customers that we move long distance so they do not have to worry about their items. [redacted] told us he was moving long distance to get cheap or free storage and three months later it's still sitting in my storage and now he does not want to pay the bill. Solution, take your stuff out of my storage asap. I will hold it for you until you find someplace else to put it. He said he will get it out in a week. If that's the case I won't charge him.

Review: called [redacted] for a quote, stated everything we where moving and from where (apartment upstairs) to a 3 floor townhouse. Gave him point a to point b. He stated that we did not have much and it would take 3 men around 4 hours total to move us. Perfect we booked them for 550$ was excited and ready to move. Day of move a utter total nightmare!!! They where scheduled to arrive at 10 am, [redacted] called and said the truck blew and the men had to get a new one. He stated that the men would be their around 11:30/12. Hours went by called again he stated he could not get ahold of the driver and started giving us an attitude. The men finally arrived at 4:00pm and with 2 men not 3!!! Needless to say it took the two men [redacted] and a very useless young guy until 11pm just to move us out of our apartment. My wife, mother in law and myself helped them the whole time!! We brought the boxes to them, we took apart the furniture and helped bring things down. We finally left point a at 11pm and point b our new place is an hour away. [redacted] chose to drive 50 mph on a 65 mph highway so the hour took an hour and half. Finally got to point b at midnight!!! Then the hell began the nightmare!!! Called [redacted] about money well let me say he is a money hungry crock!! He on,y gave us 95$ discount for this nightmare and had the nerve to charge us 1400$ when he quoted us 550$!!! He was ride heartless and a complete [redacted] to put it nicely. The young mover was sleeping and [redacted] had to wake him up.... Long horrible story short it took them until 6:30am to finally empty our things, and half of it ended up 3 floors down and not in the right rooms... So now my handicapped wife and I have to move it ourselves!! My wife got into a huge fight with the young mover because he stated he isn't a slave or a robot... No we are paying you to do your [redacted] job!!! 14 hours it took then 14 hours to move a small 2 bedroom apartment into a small 2 bedroom townhouse and didn't even do it right!!! We ended up having to still pay 1000$ for this nightmare of a job and I wish we could get our money back!! DO NOT USE this horrible moving company EVER!!Desired Settlement: Want my money back or at least half!

I would like to say that all of our estimates are very detailed and point out all of our charges and how we charge as well as the fact that this is an estimate and not the actual bill. The truck did blow a tire and we fixed it and arrived on location. The customer did not want to pay for us to do the move for he decided to have his family help. We drive our trucks the posted speed limits on the roads and highways that they are allowed to be on. We cannot drive faster or on roads that are off limits for trucks to make a customer happy. As far as everyone having attitudes with this customer I’m sure you can see by the profanity in this complaint the type of situation we were dealing with. I was called every name in the book. The customer had a three floor walkup and never told me. I discounted the bill $400.00 for any issues the customer had with the move. We ask that all of our customers be as clear as possible with what we are moving and they chose not to tell the truth.

If you read the contract that was sent you can see in the bottom left hand corner that the foreman wrote the customer did not pay $417.00.68. She paid only $1000.00 for a job that should have cost over $2000.00. We discounted her bill because we only used two men for the job. The customer was cursing at me all day during this job and hanging up the phone on me. I could not help her because the foreman told me she was irate and irrational even banging on the walls at one point. We did not know what to do or how to deal with the situation so we decided to discount her bill and complete the job. I do not know what else we could have done.

Concerning your comment about the amount of complaints that my company has the only thing I will say is that we are not perfect and no company that deals directly with the public is. I do my best to make sure all of my customers are happy with our services. But if you try to file a complaint against me that is based on fiction and not the facts I will respond to you quickly. I do not think there is a company operating on this planet that would have aloud you to not pay $416.00 and get away with it. Instead of you being happy with that you filed a complaint with the Revdex.com and you are trying to smear my name and my company. I will respond you and any other Revdex.com complaints with the facts. I tried to reason with you the day of the move and you called me every name in the book. You were disrespectful to me and I still continued to try to resolve your issues. We do multiple moves on a monthly basis and there is always going to be 1 or 2 customers that try. You can rest assure that I will do my best to resolve any issues asap. As usual I can be reached at [redacted] if you would like to discuss this further.
