POWERHOME SOLAR Reviews (%countItem)

We looked into this service in late March of 2019. We decided to get panels but we had to go through county approvals. When Alec (our sales rep) came to our home he told us the billing for the panels would not happen until two months after the start up of the panels so we would not feel the financial pinch of paying for a higher electric bill and solar panel payments. Our panels started on Aug 15th and our first bill was due Sept. 2. I called the company & Lyndsey made arrangements to cover the first payment sent to us by check. This was Aug 8th before our panels were operational. We have yet to see a check and my emails have gone unanswered. Not only did we not get the two month delay, but the one month they said they would honor did not happen.

Ms., I apologize this has taken a while. We will be voiding the first letterhead sent to you and sending an updated letterhead covering 2 loan payments. Our resolutions has reached out and left you a voicemail. We are working to get this rectified as soon as possible. Thank you.

Customer Response • Sep 12, 2019

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. If the company does not perform as promised I can get back to you at: [email protected].

After discussing this with my father (***), I am filing this complaint on his behalf. He had panels installed fall of 2018 in ***, ***. The Power Home Solar and Roofing rep. was J. R. Ewing.
My father was told:
1. He would get a % tax break to help pay for the panels. No explanation that taxable income determines tax break eligibility was given. He got zero tax break.

2. He should have extra panels installed and DTE (Detroit Edison) would pay him for the extra electric generated. The extra panels were more money and DTE does not pay consumers for electric.

3. He would basically get all panels free with the tax break and DTE paying for electric. Currently the required monthly payment for the panels is more than the electric bill used to be.

My father was 84 years old when he was sold these panels with the above sales tactics. (Elder Abuse?). Why would a company target that age group knowing that a payback will never be seen?
Currently, a finance company has contacted him wanting full payment. He was not told he was applying for a loan when paperwork was generated.
After install, all of the paperwork was found "stuffed" behind one of the outside boxes. Nothing about the system or completed paperwork was explained. He has contacted Power Home Solar many times and has, for the most part, been ignored. The company sent him a $*** check on a $*** bill, which I believe is an attempt "buy him off". He has been paying $*** per month which does not go on the principle, this covers just interest. Again I say this could be elder abuse.

Mr., we have addressed and resolved this matter already with your father. We will contact you directly to go through this fully. Thank you.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have had some correspondence with the company (Two emails). They have not disputed anything, they feel this report should be taken down because it has been resolved. The companies response that this issue has been resolved with my father is incorrect. My father contacted them with several installation and service issues. They sent him a $*** check to resolve this ( which has not been cashed) My father contacted them again when he found out he would not get the % tax break. They then offered him $*** more which he turned down. The subject report isn't about installation or service, it's about the overall sales tactics I feel were used to "sell" him this system. He was sold extra panels with no benefit and was told a % tax break would help pay for it. He cannot pay the % down payment the finance company is asking for. I have asked the subject company to let me know if I am in anyway in error as I am willing to update, edit, and/or retract this report. The only response I have received is that this report should be retracted and deleted due to the resolution on the installation and service issue.

They need better installation technicians; they didn't fasten a whole panel to a homes roof and the first storm blew it off and hit/damaged a house. They wouldn't fix the house or replace solar panel from a faulty installation. Customer service was then awful to respond to numerous phone calls. Find another installer or they need to stand by their installations. If this panel (which is very heavy) would have hit a person there would have been serious issues.
