Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The response provided by the vendor is a straight lie. Vendor did not tell us anything about charging extra 199.99$ for International call purpose. We got to know about it only when he swiped our credit card into his system and generated the bill. The vendor told me that $199.99 was deposit (caution money) which was shown as "Proxy" in bill receipt and also this money will be debited each time I make an international call and after 30 days remaining amount will be credited back to my account. Now he is telling that it was for 'international credit to call abroad' and that the 'credit will expire in 30 days'.
Vendor had shown me different plans from Lyca Mobile which were priced differently according to the Local / International talktime , data , available on them. My primary objective of getting a Prepaid Sim card was that I could get a local number so that any one could contact me if required. Hence I went for the
cheapest available plan out of all the plans the vendor had shown to me.
If I wanted to call abroad I could have paid an extra $14 and got a $39 Plan in which I was getting aprox.(1000 Min) India calling which was more than enough for me as I was in USA for only 15 days (The vendor had shown me this plan as well), Why would I pay $199.99 more for the same thing which I am getting by paying $14 extra ?
And if the vendor says that $199.99 was for international call credit then why is this credit not reflecting in my prepaid balance ? I can provide you my Lyca mobile number and you can verify with Lyca mobile if required. Also the vendor should have clearly mentioned something like 'Credit' against the $199.99 in the bill. Why did he mention 'Proxy' against $199.99 in the bill ?
This all clearly proves that the explanation given by the vendor is not at all true. He provided me misleading information and his main objective was to exhort money from me.
Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I was not well aware of the charges. I was told by the shop assistant that the $200 charge was a deposit that would be refunded if I didn't exceed the data limit (which I didn't, I called [redacted] to confirm). They haven't managed to produce any receipt signed by me, or any contract that I signed. Also I'm not sure about US law but in [redacted] it doesn't matter what is on a contract if you are verbally mislead into signing it. I obviously did not willingly pay $240 for a sim-card for 1 month. I also have an email from the shop telling me that my deposit refund was being processed and that I should wait "1 to 6 months" (presumably to delay me filing a complaint/chargeback), which means they implicitly acknowledged that I had paid a deposit and expected it to be refunded

[hello,
given feedback from the store is clear. However, the seller in a shop in the course of the transaction communicate different information. Ensure that part of the amount in a few days will be returned (in the meantime, ask a question about how long a tourist stays in NY), their response on the return part of the money, of course, refers to the period when the tourist NY gone.
Having doubts about ensuring I was in the store the next day after buying the card. Seller re-assured me that some of the money for sure will be refunded. Please put on your website reports that in the shop and on the street advertising the shop work freeloaders who rely on the gullibility of tourists knowingly entering their confusion - pulling money out. Fees for the cards in this store are also much higher than in the company store T-mobile (three streets next).]

During my vacations, on 02/14/2018 I was looking to obtain a sim card to use on my unlocked international cell phone as I was in New York City for two weeks, so I needed a U.S. cell phone number to access the internet. (I live outside of the U.S., I am from Argentina)
I was attending by the seller to get the correct service and he told me that I could be able to have one lycamobile SIM, for usd 30, to use while I were in NY, as prepaid service, but with the condition of taking the SIM out the day I were leaving of USA because at first I needed to pay usd 425.69 to activate the service and other items. I asked him how to proceed the deadline day to notify him that the SIM were out of the cellphone to begin the refunding process, and the seller told me that the system would record it automatically.
I accept the terms and I paid usd 425.69 with my credit card for the following items: activation FEE + D-P “date of departure” + SIM card + prepaid service. The T&C indicates that the refunding process depends on the bank, and it can take anywhere from 3-30 days for refund to reflects on my account. Also the ticket has a whatsapp number to call.
Once I did all the agreement, I was waiting up to 30 days to get the refunding but up to now I get nothing. I was sending several messages at watssapp number but I haven’t got any answer.

The response of the business is not acceptable, I had NEVER been told that there will be an additonal fee apart of the cost if the phone.
There is no need to "unlock"  this model of phone as its factory unlocked by LG and Google and can be used internationly out of the box, you can see this in the nexus 5 website.

Also please look at the recipe, no where in it you will find the word "unlocked".

Customer [redacted] came into my store looking for a bargain for 2 iPhone 5s. We specifically explained to him before putting his card through our machine that since you are getting a phone for a...

discounted price for 6 months we must reserve a no contract fee. Customer said he understood and signed a copy of our no contract agreement then we proceed with the sale. When customer received the final receipt he refused to sign and said he wanted to cancel. I simply told him once we process everything through our system their is a cancellation fee as stated in our No Contract Agreement. All of our customers always read the No Contract Agreement before they sign. We apologize if he didn't understand our policies but it is the same for all of our customers.

Review: On August [redacted] 2014 I was on holidays in NY. I bought a prepay SIM card for 30$, with a limited number of minutes and data usage but far more than needed for a 10 days stay in USA.

I was informed that in case of overuse, i.e. exceed of minutes and/or Mbytes, I would only be charged a maximum of $299.

I was not informed that they were charging that full amount, nor that the SIM was valid for more that those stated 10 days.

When I found out, they refused to take that charge back. Then I was informed that after the SIM plan expired I should mail them and the deposit would be refund.

Back home, I mailed them. Then they stick to the ‘terms and conditions’ that state that the deposit will be processed after 180 days. Those terms and conditions were given to me in a faded paper which I never signed, but definitely they are not what I was told.

I have contacted them asking for that deposit back, still have not received a reply.

Today, February [redacted] 2015, more than 180 days after, I still have not got a reply.Desired Settlement: I want my money back, that’s it.

Review: Hello, My Client [redacted] visited New York from August [redacted] to September [redacted], 2014. He purchased with cash for $ 27.77 a SIM prepaid card for his cellphone which the salesperson said would work for 5 days or 200 minutes and it would automatically disconnect, this is true and it disconnected. The salesperson then insisted that the customer leave his cc as a deposit IN CASE that the customer extends the 5-day, 200-minute option, which he did not. When the customer returned to here in Brazil, his credit card statement arrived and seen that $ 326,61 was charged to his card. We called them several times and a salesperson told me to send an email to "[redacted]" and he would receive the credit. Well, we did this and the e-mail returned as a bad address. Then we called several times with no answer. At this point I sent an e-mail to "[redacted]" and asked where and how this charge was applied. Since then until now we have no idea why this charge was made or necessary. The customer used the prepaid time for only 5 days, but Prepaid Mobile charged $326.61 and can not tell me where the money is. They said only in 180 days will this be credited back. I don't trust these people, they won't tell us where the money is, lied about the e-mail, giving us the run around and has a very suspicious website "[redacted]". My client said he totally misled, and the bottom line is that he got 200 minutes of cell time and spend well over $ 300 bucks, for me this is a scandal. I have all e-mail correspondence saved and the transaction receipts. Where can I send this info?Desired Settlement: My client would like his credit card refunded ASAP. I personally think that they should be investigated as well.

Review: I went in to the [redacted] on 03/**/2014 looking to obtain a sim card to use on my unlocked international cell phone as I was in New York City for the weekend and needed a U.S. cell phone number to access the internet. (I live outside of the U.S.) I was told that besides the fee for the week's usage I would have to pay $599 plus taxes for a "deposit". I paid with my debit card and was told I would receive my deposit back a week after the contract was up which was set for 03/**/2014. The charge was reflected on my recepit as "iphone 5s guard" which they said was the charge for the deposit. After reading online about other consumers not getting their deposit back I immediately went to the [redacted] the next day and asked for a refund of my deposit. I told them I no longer needed the phone and did not care if I didn't receive the money back for the sim card as long as I got my deposit back. Their [redacted] representative [redacted] told me that there was nothing they could do because the [redacted] had put the end date for the contract as 3/**/14 and only he would be able to change that. They called him on his cell phone since he wasn't in the [redacted] and he said I would have to wait until 3/**/14 to get my money back. I left NYC that weekend and waited until 3/**/14 to see if I would get my money back. After allowing a week to wait for the money I had my brother who lives in NYC go to the [redacted] on 3/**/14 and ask about it. He spoke to [redacted] who told him that [redacted], the [redacted], was on vacation and there was a note in the system that said only he could release the money. [redacted] gave him his cell phone number and told him to check back on Wednesday 3/**/14 regarding the money. I called the [redacted] back on 3/**/14 and was told that the deposit was being processed and that the money should be back in my account in a week. It has been nearly 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten my deposit back. I called [redacted] numerous times and he hasn't answered. I also called [redacted] back and he said that he no longer works there and that only [redacted] would be able to help me.Desired Settlement: I would like for this [redacted] to refund my $599 deposit I paid. I was told that if I made international calls or went over my minutes allowance, it would be taken from the deposit. I would like to make it clear that once I found out multiple people were filing complaints online against this business, I proceeded to turn off my phone and remove the sim card from it to avoid being wrongly charged for services I did not use. Therefore I am entitled to receive the full $599 deposit back on my debit card.

Review: Dear Madam/Sir:

Recently I traveled to the United States for a month-long trip. On September [redacted], 2014 I entered the premises of an electronic store Prepaid Mobile, [redacted] and spoke to an attending salesman about getting a SIM card that could be used in the United States with my phone. I purchased the prepaid plan for 25$+TAX, good for one month of use within the US. I paid with my [redacted] which was swiped immediately and a slip was produced. Looking at the contract I noticed that the contract included $299.99+TAX “security fee.” The contract (Exhibit 1) said the security fee would be returned in 30-180 days. Upon seeing this added fee I immediately demanded the return of my money and was prepared to return the SIM card which I had not even yet opened. However, salesman said that the deal could not be reversed and that I needed to write to their company and the $299.99 deposit would be returned within 30 days. I did not sign the slip and left the store.

Next day (September [redacted]) I wrote to the store immediately asking for my money back, exactly as I was directed by the agreement. They replied stating that the money will be returned within 30 days (Exhibit 2). The money was not returned to my card within one month. On October [redacted] I repeated my request to return the money, to which I received an answer that the money will be returned with in 180 days (Exhibit 3).

My next step was to dispute the charge with my bank. My bank requested the documents, and the store sent a copy of the slip that was… signed! It appears that someone has signed the slip because I did not sign it! (Exhibit 4) This signature has nothing to do with my real signature and is certainly fake (Exhibit 5). I wrote to my bank again to avail them of the fake signature but they said they cannot do much (though they have my signature on file. and that they would send the case to [redacted] dispute resolution. I haven’t received anything from [redacted] resolution.

At this time, 180 days have passed but I still have not received my deposit.

I ask you to look into this case as I feel powerless in the dispute with these business practices. It is a double shame that such business preys on unsuspecting tourists that will be powerless to compel them to be honest once we leave the country.

In case you need additional information, I appoint [redacted] to act in my stead as he resides in the United States and is well aware of this case. His email address is [redacted]. His phone number is [redacted]

Thank you,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: This company has been doing this "business" with foreign tourists for a while. There is a slew of negative remark on the net, for example on complaints.net. I would like this company to be referred to the respective agency for analysis. And of course I would like to have my deposit be returned to me.

Review: Hi Sir/Madam,

I was in New York on November [redacted] 2014 i.e. Saturday. I went to a store at [redacted] called as "Prepaid Mobile".

I went to purchase a Mobile Sim card, and agreed to $27, however when I gave him my AMEX card for the transaction.

They made 2 transactions, i.e. one for $27 and another for $544.36

The other transaction of $544 I didn't agree to pay, and asked for the refund. They did mentioned that it was just security deposit and they'll refund the amount. I insisted for the refund of my amount, but they tried convincing me by saying that it just a security deposit and they will refund the amount. When I checked with my friends they mentioned that its not a normal practice, no company asks for the deposit. So on Sunday i.e. on [redacted] November 2014, I went back to the store to ask for the refund. One of the executive who was speaking to me was harsh and was not responding correctly to my request to refund. He mentioned that the refund has certain process, where I need to drop a mail to

"[redacted]" saying that I need to stop the services, and they'll refund the amount in 1 week. So I did sent the mail with the transaction details.

So now I was following up with them on the rebates. On [redacted] November, 2014 I did received a mail saying that It would take at least 9 to 10 business days for the process.

Later on [redacted] December 2014 still I couldn't hear anything from them, so I wrote back and they mentioned that it would take approximately 30-180 days after the date of your purchase.

So I keep on following up with them, but still it was endless process.

Finally, on Jan [redacted] 2015, when I tried sending a mail it got bounced with the following message.

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

Please help me in getting the security refund back. The transaction details are as follows:

Transaction: [redacted]

Transaction Amount: $544.36

Register: Register 2004-MT-6003

Store Location: Prepaid Mobile, [redacted]Desired Settlement: $544.36

Review: Dear Revdex.com, on July [redacted] 2014 While on a trip to NYC with my daughter for Medical treatment for, I decided to cheer her up by getting her a new cell phone for her up coming birthday. Being a regular visitor to NYC, We stop of at Prepaid Mobile on [redacted], just one or two blocks up from [redacted]'s and on the the same side and block as [redacted]. While there, we asked about the IPhone 4S unclock cell phone and was told by the sales rep. that the the phone was on special for US$299.99 plus tax. I said no problem, asked it was new and he said yes, then he proceeded to let me know the following about the phone such as:

I cannot use the phone on US carriers such as [redacted] and [redacted] for 6 months / 180 days or else I will be charged a further US$249.99. I asked how much do I pay now, he said US$299.99 plus tax. Because we don't live in the US and don't plan to have the unit used a US carriers anyway, but one in Trinidad, that was not an issue for me (during this to time the sales clerks were smartly talking and distracting me on the what was to take place, these guys are professional).

So we decided to pay. two bills was produce #[redacted] for the phone $299.99 plus tax $26.62 =326.61 and a 2nd bill #[redacted] produced to show us if we us the phone on a US carrier within the 6 mth period US$249.99 plus tax 22.19 =$272.18. I was given the bill to sign and again I indicated that I am paying $326.61 right now for the phone, during this time my Master card was being charged. In the event of thing the card was charged and smartly folded and placed for signing while smartly being distracted by the other sale reps asking about country etc.

A day later while at the doctors office, I decided to check my account and realized that the full $598.79 was charged to my Card, I went back to the store and asked to the matter to be rectify, at which they responded that the money will be put back on my card in 6 mths, I told them I never agreed to this and would like to return the phone and was told we already open the box and cannot be returned. I was given a email address for a [redacted] email: [redacted], The phone number for these people don't work. So contact [redacted] who provided me with the documents I signed and agreed upon such as and amazingly the signed credit receipt for US$598.79 to which I never saw or agreed to pay at that time and some very small fine print that the staff at the store never really give you the opportunity to read since the receipt is basically printed last. I Contact [redacted] Three time and offer him the opportunity to to return the over charged amount to my card and his response that the money week. These know exactly what they are doing.Desired Settlement: These people are unethical and are crooks taking advantage of visitors to NYC and should be charged for fraud and shot down form operating. They are well know, as crooks since when you google there name, there is a lot of complaints of people who been defraud and taken advantage off. This has to stop and they the people should NOT be allowed to re open under a different name to continue there operation
