Review: Dear Sir/Madam,

At our stay in New York we bought a SIM Card Data Volume 1,5GB for High Speed internet for $21,76 (Prepaid Plan) in the Prepaid Mobile Store, [redacted].

We paid also $249,99 ($272,18 incl. Tax) deposit (Prepaid mobile SIM agreement) and they promised the deposit back automatically after 180days. This agreement finished at [redacted] January 2015 – and we still haven’t recieved the deposit back to our Credit Card.

We tried to contact Prepaid Mobile but they didn’t answer to our last request. So we disbelieve they will return our money back.

Hopefully you can help us in this affair.

If you need I can send further informations / pictures of the receipts and the whole correspondence between me, [redacted] and Prepaid Mobile Store.

With best regards from Austria (please excuse my bad english),

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund the outstanding deposit to our credit card.

Review: I would like to bring your attention about a bad experience that happened to me at above cell phone seller store in [redacted].

I had visited this store on Monday, July * 2014 in the early afternoon and was cheated of $1796.40. I had gone to this store to buy I-Phones. This company representative offered to sell two phones for $525.00 each. We had agreed for total amount of $1050.00. I had also signed a copy of a 'no contract' agreement with prepaid mobile before I realized that I am being duped. He assured me that this agreement was a formality required by his company to make sure that I would not use the phone in USA. If I did, I would be charged a fee of USD 299.00.

After I signed the agreement, he over-charged my prepaid forex debit card for $1796.40. When I saw the amount in merchant copy of receipt, I refused to sign it . He assured me that remaining amount will come back to my card as soon as I return to India and activate the phone using a local SIM card. I demanded a reversal and wanted to cancel the transaction as he was trying over-charge my card and did not mention anything about this part of agreement before charging my card. I was also apprehensive that whether money will be refunded at all.He did not comply with my reversal request and demanded USD 200.00 as cancellation fee. He also abused me verbally. The [redacted] and his colleagues also were taking his side without trying to understand facts.

I left the store without acknowledging the merchant copy and did not take the I Phones in question.

While reviewing my bank transactions on July *,2014, I noticed that store had fraudulently posted the transaction without duly signed acknowledgement and withdrawn USD 1796.40.

I immediately went to police precinct @ midtown, to file a police complaint. Police officer advised me to get to the store and call 911 to settle this issue. Subsequently, I went along with a police officer to their store on July *,2014 with a hope of settling this dispute . After talking to the store representative, police Officer advised me that he cannot intervene in this issue as it was unethical business practice issue, not a criminal offense. He further advised me to take up the issue with my bank as I had not signed the merchant copy of receipt. However since I did not want to prolong my mental agony and was leaving for my home country in a couple of days, I agreed under protest, for his offer of a refund of USD 1596.40 on my debit card( minus cancellation fee $ 200.00). I also did not sign the merchant copy of refund as a protest. I am still awaiting for refund to reflect in my account.Desired Settlement: void of incomplete 'no contract' agreeement and full refund of USD 1796.40

Customer [redacted] came into my store looking for a bargain for 2 iPhone 5s. We specifically explained to him before putting his card through our machine that since you are getting a phone for a discounted price for 6 months we must reserve a no contract fee. Customer said he understood and signed a copy of our no contract agreement then we proceed with the sale. When customer received the final receipt he refused to sign and said he wanted to cancel. I simply told him once we process everything through our system their is a cancellation fee as stated in our No Contract Agreement. All of our customers always read the No Contract Agreement before they sign. We apologize if he didn't understand our policies but it is the same for all of our customers.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I totally disagree to what the business had to say and would like to state that I was wrongly trapped by Amazing wireless mobile into signing a No contract form without disclosing true facts and was a victim of deceit.

As mentioned in my earlier letter I am yet to receive my balance 200 dollars which has been retained by Amazing wireless in the name of contract cancellation. In fact I did find a lot of complaints against the business posted

on the Internet and woes of tourists who were hapless victims of the said business.

I would sincerely request the authorities to get into the root and probe into the modus operandi of this retail store and stop innocent tourists from falling prey to this operator

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Sincerely,

Review: I bought a nexus 5 cell phone at "PrePaid Mobile" they told me that the cost of the phone is $399 + tax which is the regular retail price of this product as you can see at google.I paid for it using credit card, I could not see how much they charge since they put a sticker on the screen of the device that charge the credit card, when I got the paper receipt I saw that they charge me an extra $199.99 for "registration fee", in no point of time they ever talked about a "registration fee" and they did not register me to any thing (that I know of) I am not even from the USas soon as I saw the paper receipt I ask them to cancel the deal or refund me the "registration fee" and they refused. they basically stole $200 from me, I want to the police to file a complaint but learned theydo not handle such things.Desired Settlement: I would like to get my $199.99 back

Business

Response:

Customer purchased a Nexus 5 and also requested that their device be "internationally unlocked" because the device would be operated internationally. Customer was fully aware of the unlocking fees which is a non-refundable product. We made sure that the customer was notified about our refund policy at the POS. Customer can return the device and receive a full refund. However, the unlocking fees cannot be refunded because the imei has already been paid for and is unlocked.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The response of the business is not acceptable, I had NEVER been told that there will be an additonal fee apart of the cost if the phone.

Review: I went to store to purchase a sim for the short time I was in New York. In doing this they asked for my credit card to register it in case I needed to top up credit. I paid $30 cash for the sim. When I checked the recipes later on I foubd I had been charged $435.49 for phone credit I didn't want or asked for. I checked online and found that this company targets travellers and that I was one of many who had been charged for a service not wanted. I went back to the store and cancelled the agreement but I was then advised by email that it would take 180 days before I would get my money back. Checking online I found this to be what others had been advised and they were still waiting for their money. I went back to the store several times and was eventually given back $335 as they took out a $99 cancellation fee for something I didn't want. I took this option because I doubted I would get any money back otherwise. These people are very skilled scammers - see [redacted] for over 40 similar sceneries all related to travellers. Apparently others have also lodged complaints with Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I want the cancellation fee reimbursed.

Review: I am from [redacted]. On Nov** I entered the PREPAID MOBILE SHOP LLC (or [redacted]), at [redacted], and bought 2 prepaid sim cards for US$ 50, paid in cash. The seller said he neeeded document and credit card just for record purpose. Me and my wife gave him our [redacted]. A few days later I realized they had charged me US$ 544 in each credit card (US$ 1088 total) without my consent. We went back to the store but they didn´t want to talk and refused to give the money back. After that I tried to cancel the operation with my credit card, but it is still under review. BIG TIME SCAM! I want my money back!Desired Settlement: This establishment is a well known scam place! There are a LOT o complaints on the internet (see here: [redacted]). [redacted] Gov, Police and Credit Card Companies do nothing to solve this!

I just want my money back. Money that was ROBBED from me...

Review: I bought a mini-soundlink Bose audiospeaker at this store, which was $150. Then, they charged, without me knowing, $217 for a "device agreement". After 180 days it was supposed to be refunded to me - via [redacted], since I payed using travel card. Now, over 180 days are past and they don't have any support emails working (they had back in september, when this happened). It's absurd that they opperate right in the center of the greatest city in the world and do this to thousands of people everyday. See this, and you'll know how many people they keep deceiving [redacted]Desired Settlement: I need to get my money back. All $217 dollars.

Review: I was another unfortunate tourist and a victim of the Prepaid Mobile shop’s illegal activities. During my visit to New York on [redacted] July 2014, I visited Prepaid Mobile Shop LLC at [redacted]. I bought a $25 SIM card on cash but they additionally charged $ 326.61 on my credit card without my approval. They took my credit card for identity verification purpose only but charged it with unauthorised amount of money.

After paying $25/- they gave me a Lycamobile SIM card and at the same time provided a SIM card agreement which I thought a formality and signed it immediately without reading all the contents of the contract as I thought it is a usual business. They asked my credit card and said that it is only required for identity verification purpose. I never thought that this shop is actually involved in credit card fraud activities. However as I was busy putting the SIM card on my mobile I got an SMS on my roaming mobile from my bank that my credit card is charged with $326.61. I was really shocked to know that and immediately asked the salesman at the shop who introduced himself earlier as [redacted] from [redacted]. He told me that it is only kept as a deposit if I need to buy any additional credit and will be returned after a month once I send a mail to [redacted]. I protested to him for the unauthorised charge to my credit card but he insisted the same story that I will get the deposit back as soon as I send a mail to them after going back to my home country.

The guy then gave me a Credit Card payment of $326.61/- receipt to sign but I refused to sign the receipt as I did not approve them to charge my credit card. The above incident ruined my day; however I was not very much worried as I thought that when I go back I will send a mail to them and get my money back.

After coming back to Qatar (my resident country), I sent them a mail asking for the refund and I immediately got a reply that they will reply me within 24-48 hours. However after few days I get a mail from them that they have started to process my deposit back to my card and I will get it after 180 days.

Their email or phone number is not working any more however they had given another email address. After completing 180 days, I used the new email address to remind them to return my deposit which they were supposed to return between 30 to 180 days, however I still haven't received a reply yet from them.

I need to get my money back and I would request New York authorities to take strict action against the shop as they are involved in illegal activities.Desired Settlement: No reply from the shop to refund the deposit of $326.61 taken from my credit card
