I was sent to Progenity at the One Fannin Building in Houston, Texas by my OBGYN for genetic testing. We went in and the front desk lady with no name tag was carrying a conversation on her cellphone on speaker. She never stop talking to acknowledge us but pointed at where to sign and take a sit. Another couple came in and she did the same. I finally had enough and asked her to end her conversation and acknowledge the patients. She stated she was talking to her supervisor. I told her she should had let her supervisor know that she had patients in front of her and she will call her back, simple. Customer service first. So she is also the Phlebotomist!, she never created labels to label vials, she dropped the vials at some point and again vials were never labeled before or after drawing blood while we were there. We are VERY concerned about the results being ours or the couple after us!! Very incompetent lady.

We were sent to this office located in One Fannin Building in Houston, TX. By our OBGYN for genetic testing. When we arrived the woman at the front desk was carrying a conversation on her cell phone on speaker. She started point at us where to sign and never got off the phone. Another couple cams in and she did the same. I got tired of waiting for her to get off the phone and do her job so I told her unprofessional she was not acknowledging patients. She is also the phlebotomist!, dropped the vials while drawing blood and never labeled them!, WE ARE VERY CONCERNED NOW about the results being ours or the other couple. That tech. Was very incompetent, we are contacting the company for refund and will do testing elsewhere.

Same reviews as below and after having to deal with this horrible company for 7 months and getting another call 3 weeks before my due date is ridiculous, I thought I'd share a simliar experience.

My OBGYN referred us to this business in November to get genetic testing done and were told that it would cost us no more than a few hundred out of pocket (if insurance didn't cover it). Progenity billed my insurance around $21,000 and after several attempts of contacting Anthem they said that Progenity is continuing the cash the checks that they are sending even though Progenity continues to call me and says that $8K is due. They are clearly, fraudulently, inflating the cost of their services to extract the maximum payment possible from insurance companies. Businesses like this one are the reason why healthcare and health insurance are unaffordable in this country. I am going to let my doctor's office know that they should not be working with this horrible company. DON't USE THIS COMPANY!

Something is not right here. We were in the doctor's office at a baby ultrasound. There were a couple of "spots" in the ultrasound that concerned the doctor. They suggested a genetic test that could put us at ease and rule out some of the concerns.

We don't have insurance. But we do use a health-sharing service.

The bill sent to them was $7,500.00!! We are a simple working class family with a modest income. And we just had no clue it would even be more than a couple hundred bucks.

I have read the other Revdex.com reviews and see this is a common bill price they issue for this procedure. But that self-pay customers are told it's only $99 to $200.00.

I sure hope so! But I want people to be aware and to read the other Revdex.com reviews on what this company has allegedly done when it comes to billing.

In our case, I hope and pray the self-pay cost is something more reasonable! It was a simple blood test! Or at least that people would be informed.

Hello
Thank you for your inquiry. However, we were unsuccessful in locating your account. Please provide the patient's first and last name, along with the date of birth to ensure appropriate processing.

In January 2018 my husband and I had genetic testing done through this company, my insurance decided to make a one time exception and cover the entire cost of the testing/lab work which totaled $7,500. I received a check from my insurance company on December 19th 2018 and endorsed the check which again was for $7,500 to Progenity on December 20th to their Michigan address. It is now January 30th 2019 and they are still contacting me even though the insurance company has already spoken with them several times and explained the check cleared on December 26th 2018 on their end. Again this check was endorsed to Progenity Inc so they cashed it.

Horrible business. Fraudsters.

My wife's OBGYN referred us to this business when she was pregnant with our son to rule us out as carriers for serious genetic diseases. The tests were done on me, the father.

Their website says their tests cost on average $250 yet Progenity billed my insurance around $18,000 and received almost $6,000 from my insurance. They first tried to bill me around $11,000, then $2,000, eventually settling with me for $99.

They are clearly, fraudulently, inflating the cost of their services to extract the maximum payment possible from insurance companies.

For reference, my son spent 8 days in the NICU under 24 hour care at a cost of almost $70,000. It can't be that a set of genetic tests cost almost a third of that bill.

Businesses like this one are the reason why healthcare and health insurance are unaffordable in this country.

I contacted the consumer affairs department at the hospital where my son was born, affiliated with my wife's OBGYN and urged them to stop referring their patients to these fraudsters. I also called my insurance companies fraud department.

Don't use this company's services.

We were offered a Progenity "NIPT" blood test usually done at 10 weeks in pregnancy. She said the test would cost no more than $200 even without insurance. Progenity billed my insurance $7500 for this blood test. My insurance paid Progenity $3500. Progenity never emailed an estimate of what the test would cost before performing it. Progenity billed me $3500 from another vendor Avero Diagnostices and I received this bill a year later I called Progenity to complain about the bill considering my doctor said it would cost me $200the most. Progenity wants me to apply for financial assistance. I submitted for assistance and they mentioned it’s declined. I researched online to find out patients and insurance companies are getting this outrageous bills from Progenity without their consent. This is completely unfair and how could be there is no action after these many complaints.

I had genetic testing done through Progenity in February of 2017 at the suggestion of my fertility doctor. I was told that if my insurance company did not cover the claim, I would only be responsible for $100. My insurance company refused the claim and I paid the $100. I thought that would be the end of it. In May of 2018, I received a call from Progenity saying my insurance company approved the claim and would be sending me a $16k check that I would need to forward to them. A few weeks went by, and I had not received any check. Progenity called me again to check and see about the check, and then they asked me to call my insurance and told me they could not reach out directly to my insurance company on the status of the claim. I did reach out to my insurance company and they said they had denied the claim in March of 2017 and the claim was never reopened. They said they had no communication since with Progenity. Per Progenity's request, my insurance company facilitated a conference call with Progenity and me. My insurance company confirmed they denied the claim and it was not under review. They faxed Progenity the explanation of benefits and the claim denial form. Progenity told me it would take 1-2 weeks to process the paperwork and they would contact me on the status of my account. 2 weeks went by, and I called Progenity. My account was still under review and they told me to give them an additional 2 weeks. Another two weeks went by, and it was still under review. On 6/20/2018, they said they would forward my concerns to their manager and expediate the review process. Three additional times I called and was given the same response. On multiple occasions, I was told the customer service representative I was working with would call me back within 24-48 hours and I never received a callback. On July 17, 2018, I called and was told the same thing. The representative couldn't tell me anything about my account except it was under review. I expressed my frustration without yelling or swearing, but told her that I did not believe her e-mailing her manager would do any good and that I was looking for a different solution at this point. The customer service representative talked over me, wouldn't let me finish my sentences, and hung up on me. Finally, I reached out to my old fertility doctor who was not currently treating me and she said she would contact her Progenity representative on my behalf. On 7/18/2018, my new fertility doctor suggested additional genetic testing and I expressed my reserve due to my experiences with Progenity. She told me she no longer uses Progenity for that reason by that she would also reach out to them on my behalf. An hour after I left my doctor's office, a Progenity representative called me and told me they reviewed my account and adjusted my balance to zero. My frustration is in their customer service department not being able to resolve this without getting my physician involved and what I perceive as unethical business practices. I would never recommend Progenity testing to anyone. I would suggest they insist their physician use a different company.

I had prenatal testing done and was sent a bill for $1,913.32. I called Progentiy to make sure they had billed by insurance as I remember my doctor telling me the amount would be $100. I called Progentiy and confirmed they had billed by insurance and I was told I needed to pay the full invoice amount. This did not sound correct to me so I checked with my doctor who told me they should have only billed me $100. I called back to Progentiy today and mentioned what my doctor had confirmed and was immediately told that yes I could just pay the $100. This seemed very strange to me as I was previously told to pay the full amount. What changed when I called the company for the second time? I think Progentiy is running a scam to try and trick innocent pregnant women into paying their inflated & incorrect invoice amounts. If the amount was always supposed to be $100, why was I billed and told to pay $1,913.32. What a horrible time to be taking advantage of women when they are pregnant and already facing numerous other bills from hospital bills. Very shady and dishonest!

The company said they would do genetic testing for $99. We did not give them our insurance but still they found it and billed the insurance of 26,000 dollars of which 11,800 was paid. Then they billed us 924 dollars. We had to call several times to reduce it to the $99. But they still stole 11,800 from the insurance company.

Like other reviewers, I received a bill in Feb 2018 for over $8,000 for the genetics testing I had done in June 2017 (note the bill did not have any breakout of cost for the services, but rather a generic bill for testing). I went back and forth with Progenity on the bill and finally, a rep told me to contact my clinic billing office. When I talked with my clinic, she told me Progenity should have charged me $99 Prompt Rate and to not pay the $8,000 bill. When I called Progenity back and mentioned the prompt rate, I was put on hold so she could "check with her supervisor" and in less than 1 minute, she came back and said I did qualify so my bill was $99 vs. $8,000...I'm really glad I went through the work to resolve this and not blindly pay the $8,000 bill!

I am incredibly upset with progenity and the billing process that they use. I had a service in October of 2016 in which I never received a bill and then in September of 2017 a week before the birth of my son I received a call saying I had an outstanding balance of nearly $500 which my insurance company paid on 11/2016. Shortly after they called me in 2017 they send my account to a collections agency
and I cannot believe this is the they way you run the process. This seems fraudulent and I am not going to pay for a service that the insurance company has already paid on my behalf.

I had testing done which I was told the most I would have to pay is $100. After the test was done this company submitted a claim of 13,156 to my insurance company which I'm responsible for pay $5500 of that claim. They do not tell you this up front of how much the testing is and now I'm stuck with this bill. My doctor act like they don't have no clue to what's going on, but as I read online I seen they have done this to multiple people. These doctors need to advised people of this amount before recommending such test and let them know if it is necessary or not.

I had genetic testing done at my doctors office. At the time office states that they were under contract with progentiy and would not bill me if insurance did not cover the costs, they states that per the contract what ever was paid by insurance was the only money collected. This was August 2016. Fast forward to about 2 months ago I started receiving bills for $99 and now a balance of $200. I tried talking to numerous people at progentiy as well as my doctors office. My office indicated progentiy terminates a contract with them with out giving the office any notification. Whenever I call to speak with a supervisor at progentiy there staff is blatantly rude and refuses to transfer me. They’ve also stated all they can offer me is the rate they are ($200) or to use my previous year tax returns to see if I qualify for a reduction. How is that I’m financially obligated for a bill I was told was under contract and how do my precious tax returns (when I worked full time with one child) reflect what I can pay now (working part time with 2 children)? How is this right or proper business practices. Please help !

My OBGYN offered a Progenity "NIPT" blood test usually done at 10 weeks in pregnancy. He said the test would cost no more than $99 with insurance. The test was done on 5/3/17. Progenity billed my insurance $7500 for this blood test. My insurance paid Progenity $3130.11. Progenity never emailed an estimate of what the test would cost before performing it.
Progenity billed me $619.59 on 09/11/17 and I received this bill on 10/10/17. I called Progenity to complain about the bill considering my doctor said it would cost me $99 the most. Progenity wants me to apply for financial assistance.
I researched online to find out patients and insurance companies are getting this outrageous bills from Progenity without their consent. Also I found out some people are only paying the "$99 dollar deal"

Progenity is involved in healthcare fraud. They charge for tests which nobody requested them to do and bill you with thousands of dollars.
The fraud scheme is the following: their “representatives” at hospitals convince you in a $99 out-of-pocket fee for their NIPT blood test. However, you will receive a bill for thousands of dollars. In our case, we received a bill for about $3000, which is in addition to $15000 paid by our insurance company. So the total bill was about $18000 for their “blood test”! We protested and requested a printout of what was done. In the printout, we were surprised to discover lots of extra “tests” for rare genetic diseases that nobody asked them to do. In fact, we are not sure whether they did these extra tests at all or just came up with a random bill, since our doctor received results of only standard screening for chromosomes 21, 13, 18.
We now keep receiving harassing calls from Progenity representatives. This is very strange, two of their representatives already agreed to reduce the bill to $99, but every following “representative” calls us with no information about previous calls. The hospital, which ordered this test for us, said that this bill must be in error and we should pay only $99. But we keep receiving calls from Progenity. Also note that Progenity ignores Revdex.com requests.
