MoveAmerica arranges third party transportation services for self-loaded shipments.  Upon customer request, MoveAmerica will arrange third party loading and unloading services but does not assume any liability for damage caused by third party carriers, packers, or loaders. Claims filing and...

settlement is completely between the customer and the third party.  Customers remain responsible for correctly preparing the shipment for transit, preliminary packing, blanket wrapping, and any other protective measures required to prevent damage.  Customers agree to value their shipment for claims purposes at a rate of $0.10 per pound per article.[redacted] filed claims for damage to her shipment with both the carrier and the loading company.  The carrier, after reviewing the claim, denied liability.  The loading company, unfortunately, did not respond to [redacted] claim.  MoveAmerica furnished [redacted] all contact information we had pertaining to the loading company, evidently they are in receipt of the claim, but for whatever reason have chosen not to correspond with [redacted] or answer her phone calls.  It is unknown by MoveAmerica what, if any conversations have occurred between [redacted] and the loading company.  The loading company is also ignoring MoveAmerica's calls and messages which have been numerous in attempting to assist [redacted] in resolving this issue.  Regrettably, all to no avail to date. While we very much are sympathetic to [redacted]'s position, MoveAmerica does not settle loss or damage claims between loaders and shippers.  At this point it is up to [redacted] to carry the ball, since her calls and messages, as well as MoveAmerica's calls and messages, have gone unanswered.  MoveAmerica is not aware of any written communication between the parties, and we sincerely hope that they parties will be able to work out the issues here.Howard G[redacted]MoveAmerica

I am rejecting this response because:I have not seen any response from the bank so I don't know if that is true or not. If this is true, I refuse to have them conduct a bait and switch on any more customers. I will be forwarding the information onto an attorney and Mr. G[redacted] will find out that I stand up for what I believe in and he will spend considerably more on attorney fees than what he fraudulently charged meRegards,

I am rejecting this response because:The information that [redacted] provided in his response is false. I was able to contact the loading company and they were happy to compensate me but required that [redacted] complete the necessary paperwork as they were the direct client of the loading company and I the third party. When I requested that [redacted] file the paperwork they ignored my request. I asked again and have email documentation of all correspondence. When I inquired for a second time I received a threat from [redacted] stating that they refused to not only help me but would not return my belongings until I signed away all of my rights to pursue action against them. That demand was not only illegal, but forced me to sign under duress lest I not get my belongings back until a court of law forced [redacted] to do so. Furthermore, the release of claims was in direct violation of the contract held between [redacted] and the Revdex.com as it explicitly stated that I was giving up my right to communicate my experience to the Bureau. While you already have a copy of the release of claims on file I have gone ahead and attached it again here.I would very much like to see their accreditation pulled as a result of their illegal and immoral behavior. Furthermore, unless [redacted], at the very minimum, chooses to sincerely apologize and reimburse me for the cost of the inadequate service they hired on my behalf, I do not want to hear from them again and request that all future discussions on this matter be conducted through a mediary provided by the Revdex.com.

The company in Bakersfield was hired by [redacted], that is, [redacted].  Lauren will check to see if she has any information regarding the actual loaders. If she has anything we will immediately forward it to you.  The responsible party is, in your case, [redacted] of [redacted].  The loaders were hired by him to load your trailer. We might suggest writing to [redacted], or having your attorney write or call him to try to resolve this matter. MoveAmerica has not been able to establish any communication with [redacted].MoveAmerica will assist you in any way we can with resolving this issue.Best regards,Howard G[redacted]PresidentMoveAmerica

Dear Revdex.com:[redacted] arranges transportation for our customers, and also may arrange third party loaders and unloaders upon customer request.  [redacted] requested loaders, and never complained during the loading process.  He did call and say that he had found fellow...

church members to help him load.  Never did he complain about the job the loaders were doing, and never did he reveal to us that he had hired another company.   In fact, [redacted] kept the loaders that we had arranged working through the entire process and told us they had done a great job! Finally, [redacted] has never seen any receipts from the "other company".The payment [redacted] made was for transportation of his good from origin to destination, which [redacted] completed, plus the time spent by the loaders.  [redacted] never indicated then or now there was damage, and no claim has been received. However, while not admitting any liability, [redacted] is willing to offer [redacted] $100 for any misunderstanding that may have occurred during the moving process. Thank you,MoveAmerica

Dear [redacted]:I carefully checked the sequence of events with Lauren, the [redacted] Operations Manager to confirm the version of events I stated.  Lauren, who spoke to you many times during the course of coordinating your move, confirms my comments as follows:1.  You called her during the loading phase of the move and complained that your wife did not like the loaders for unspecified reasons. 2.  She stated you mentioned you might get your own church people to help with the loading. 3.  The foreman of the loading company (U-Haul) spoke to you and your wife and was told everything was fine. 4.  Lauren spoke to you again and you confirmed that everything was fine with the loading, and that you were happy with the cost. 5.  At the very end of the loading job, you once again confirmed everything was fine with the loading job, so we released payment to the loading crew.  You gave the loaders a tip! 6.  You called her later that day and informed her that at the end of the load, your help showed up and restacked some things, according to you more "efficiently." This was after our crew was finished, we paid them, and you tipped them.Obviously there is a substantial difference between the events related by you and the timeline provided by Lauren.  I do notice that you stated Lauren said everything went smoothly.  What I cannot reconcile is why would you keep a crew you maintained did a terrible job until after they finished working and [redacted] released their payment. And why would you tip them?? Now you maintain they did such a bad job that you should be refunded $1624.00 or at least $952?  I regret your distress but clearly it was not expressed to either [redacted] or the crew while the events were occurring.  Nothing about damage to walls or damage to furniture.  Nothing about any problems whatsoever.  As a gesture of goodwill I am willing to offer $100, but I still do not see where you have made a case that [redacted] did anything wrong in any way that I can see.

From: Howard G[redacted] Date: Fri, Nov 20, 2015 at 1:29 PMSubject: Revdex.com [redacted]To: [redacted]@myRevdex.com.orgDear [redacted]: Thank you for forwarding over the complaint of [redacted], to which we would like to respond as follows: MoveAmerica arranges, where available,...

transportation services to points and places within the United States.  We also arrange loaders and/or unloaders as a service to our customers, but screen them very carefully and do not guarantee their availability.  Availability of loaders and unloaders may fluctuate based on geographic area, date,  time, experience, licensing, insurance, bonding, and reputation. In [redacted]s case, the destination was Kalispell, MT. which is a very remote area where quality loaders and unloaders are difficult to obtain.  However, in point of fact MoveAmerica was able to arrange quality unloaders for the estimated delivery date, and MoveAmerica did reserve them for that date. Unfortunately, [redacted] did not follow the instructions given him to contact MoveAmerica to coordinate his delivery date, and elected to contact the trucking company terminal directly to arrange delivery for September 30th, 2015.  This was not the estimated delivery date, so unloaders were unavailable for the date [redacted] arranged with the trucking company.  If he had coordinated his delivery with MoveAmerica, as instructed in the MoveAmerica Reservation and Helpful Moving Hints, unloaders would have been available. However, on the date [redacted] selected, they were not. Now when we say unloaders were unavailable, that does not mean that “people” were not available.  [redacted] quickly found “people” to unload his shipment through Craigslist, and wanted MoveAmerica to hire them.  MoveAmerica is extremely careful to only hire loaders and/or unloaders from companies who meet or exceed our standards, including experience, insurance, license, bonding, and references.  We declined to hire the [redacted] people and assume responsibility for them, since they were complete unknowns to MoveAmerica.  [redacted] took that chance, but we could not. [redacted] was always welcome to hire his own loaders or unloaders, utilize friends, neighbors, or relatives to help him, or do it himself.  In point of fact, MoveAmerica did arrange loaders for [redacted]. We did not charge [redacted] for unloaders, which came at a financial cost to MoveAmerica since if we had hired the [redacted] people we would have made a profit. Thus we suggested that [redacted] hire them directly, which he did, and regret that we could not and assume responsibility for inexperienced, unlicensed, uninsured, and unbonded people against any potential loss, damage, or claim. MoveAmerica sincerely regrets any inconvenience to [redacted], and while not admitting any liability offers [redacted] $50.00 as a customer service credit in settlement of this issue. Thank you, Howard G[redacted]PresidentMoveAmerica[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:Like I already mentioned, the measurement the trucker company did was inaccurate. [redacted] pictures just show a tape measure at the end of the trailer, how can this be accurate? My pictures which I sent to [redacted] shows the exact space I used with sticker tape marks. Of you course you just want to rely on a 3rd party trucking company and be sitting in you remote office and overcharge customers. I am sure I am going to add a review to warn people from [redacted],.Implying that I am lieing or cheating is a good customer service nor business ethical.Accusing me of having an intention of disputing the money before I get the shipment means only one thing. You know this what a normal reaction would be and that's why you are trying to cover that by asking customers like me to sign that overcharge autherization docuement. Again this is not an ethical practice.Holding my property as a hostage until I sign an authorization form to overcharge me is not an ethical practice. This seems to be the game this company is playing with their customers, I found out about this when I read about the yelp reviews of customers who describe the same exact thing. Unfortunately it was too late when I read those reviews.Regards,

MoveAmerica provides access to space on motor carriers throughout the United States.  Customers are responsible for determining the amount of space desired, properly peparing the shipment for transit, loading the shipment, and unloading.  Measurements are made by the trucking company after...

the shipment is loaded.  Customers are advised to supervise any loaders or unloaders hired by customer during the loading process.[redacted] purchased a space 4' long by 8' wide by 9 feet high, hired her own loaders, and proceeded to load the shipment.  She took a picture of the space used by her, which can easily be seen to be eight feet since the vertical bars are 16 inch apart and there are six of them  (96/12 = 8 feet). However, [redacted] insisted she only used 4 feet and refused to pay the amount due.  At this point MoveAmerica asked the trucker to provide pictures of the completed load, which ALSO prove the use of 8 feet of space.Even after the shipment arrived, [redacted] held to this position.  She demanded delivery and accused MoveAmerica of holding her shipment "hostage" even though she would not pay the bill.  Ultimate [redacted] agreed to pay the charges as initially stated, signed a complete release, and accepted delivery of the shipment. After looking at the pictures of the shipment as loaded, it was very clear to MoveAmerica staff that the shipment was poorly loaded by a crew the customer hired and supervised.  MoveAmerica considers this episode closed, and while admits no liability agrees to offer [redacted] $50 for any inconvenience she may have experienced.Howard G[redacted]PresidentMoveAmerica

I am rejecting this response because: My attorney told me to get the information for the people that loaded my stuff I'm bakersfield! Bruce isn't reaponding to any phone calls he says that it isn't him even on his direct cell phone number! You leave a voice Mail and he doesn't respond. Lauren was contacting the loaders in bakersfield on their cell phone while they were at my house so she has the information! Also what is being done about the loaders cost that you in a email said that I would speak directly with Move America about? Lauren said she was working on it and that was 3 months ago! Still nothing. This claim may be between me and the loaders but as a company that cares about their customers this should have never happened I shouldn't have been told that you were going to make it right and you were filing a claim and it was going to be taken care of! Then once you realize that they screwed me you said your hands were tied and you stopped responding or helping me! The least you could do is give me back my money that I paid move America for the loaders. You guys made profit off of all of my damaged furniture which was over $14,000 in damage that I have to replace on top of me paying Move America over $7,000!
Regards,[redacted]

Hired Move America to relocate $20K in personal belongings from Philadelphia PA to Moscow ID, 11/2-5/15. Initially, the contract was messed up and had to be redone several times due to change in estimates. In the process, we received other customers' contracts--sent to me by the owner himself, Howard G[redacted] Makes me wonder how many others inadvertently saw our personal information?
We inquired about insurance and was assured that if we prepared/packed our furniture and items properly, that all would be well. Our contract included insurance based on a percentage of the overall value of the entire shipment. Also we were told that their trucking company provides insurance as well leaving us to believe we were double covered. Not the case!
Our trailer arrived on 11/10/2015 after several calls had to be made over two days to the coordinator, who had no idea where our trailer was. We were expecting the trailer to arrive on 11/6/15 because the company pretty much guaranteed 4-5 day delivery, point to point. The truck driver never mentioned signing any form for insurance. Just signed and dated the form for confirmation of delivery.
Once we started unloading the trailer, discovered that just about every item on the trailer had been damaged. It was impact damage as if the truck had been in an accident or collision. Every piece of furniture, despite being bubble wrapped and packed in thick blankets had significant damage. Expensive mirrors shattered! The items on this trailer were everything Mr. C[redacted] owned. We had the dresser mirror repaired as well as other items and have those receipts, if needed.
On 12/3/15, within the 30-day window for filing claims, according to our contract, we filed a claim with Move America. To date, we have heard nothing! At that time, we also filed a claim with O** D[redacted] Trucking. They quickly denied the claim because we had not filled out the "proper paperwork" with the drivers.
There were items broken that cannot be replaced or repaired. The damages come to a total amount of $1,058. Of these damages, we fairly requested $500. To replace the bedroom set alone (because most of the damage cannot be repaired) would be $4,500! Again, to date, we have received nothing, nothing, nothing. :( I have never worked with such an unprofessional, uncaring, ripoff of a company in my life. Epic fail on all levels!
Based on all the other reviews I've read about this company, anyone considering Move America should avoid this company entirely!

Dear [redacted]:[redacted] arranges space in motor carriers for purposes of transporting customer's shipments from origin to destination.  In some cases [redacted] arranges with a third party to provide loaders and/or unloaders. The third party in this case, [redacted],...

transported your goods at an agreed valuation of $0.10 per pound, and typically a third party loader would be liable for damage caused by them dropping item at origin and destination.  The customer is responsible completely for preparing the shipment for transportation, such as performing preliminary packing of any loose items to prevent damage, and padding/blanketing of furniture to prevent damage caused by the movement of the vehicle during transit.  If case of any damage, the third party responsible (not [redacted]) would settle any claim directly with you.Federal law specifically does not allow [redacted] to involve itself or settle loss or damage claims (Carmack amendment) caused by a motor carrier.  [redacted]s is a highly responsible, multi-billion dollar firm with over 20,000 employees and I have never heard of an instance where they did not settle a claim fairly.  However, I am more than willing to check with them as to what happened with your claim, especially the issue over not have a signed form of one kind or another.  If would suggest that you also contact ODFL and raise your concerns with them, as they evaluated and settled your claim.  From my experience, not that it means anything in your case, is that a properly padded or blanketed piece of furniture is not damaged just by riding inside the truck. Also, I will raise the issue you mentioned about Vanessa not offering you additional transit insurance, which would be extremely odd since it would be commissionable to her.  However, that insurance would only protect you for damage pursuant to overturn, upset, or collision of the transporting vehicle, and other hazards such as water damage, hurricane, tornado, fire, and other similar acts of god, none of which would have been applicable here.  But I will definitely discuss it with her. Based on what has been presented to me so far I do not see where [redacted] has caused any damage to your shipment.  While sympathetic and willing to investigate further, I have done nothing requiring a personal apology.

January 30, 2018MoveAmerica was contacted by [redacted] on December 11th, 2017, which was aThursday, and were requested to anange transportation for her personal effects on anurgent basis on Monday, December 15th, from Fort Benning, GA to Myrtle Beach, SC.Normally MoveArnerica requires one...

week advance notice to arrange shipments, but inan effort to accommodate [redacted]’s urgent request scheduled the move.[redacted] agreed to the price, and made an initial one half deposit of $1700.00.On Friday, December 12th, [redacted] cancelled the shipment. In the meantime,MoveAmerica had moved equipment and scheduled manpower and equipment necessaryto drop a trailer at her residence on Monday, one business day hence.MoveAmerica’s Cancellation Policy (copy enclosed) states than the Initial Deposit isNON-REFUNDABLE, and an additional $3 00 charge is incurred for cancellation within3 business days of the move. [redacted] thus incurred a total charge of $2000, i.e., $1700initial deposit plus the $300 additional charge.[redacted], on December ll, 2017 at 12:20 PM, stated as follows in writing: “I, VictoriaPort, have READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE to the above MoveAmericaCancellation Refund Policy for MoveArnerica Reservation Number [redacted].”Without admitting any liability, MoveAmerica is willing to waive the $300 additional feefor cancellation within 3 business days of the move. We apologize for any inconvenience.Cordially, Howard G President

[redacted] provided 3rd party shipping services for this customer, charges are based on the space used.In this case, customer [redacted] maintained he used 5 feet, whereas the trucker measured the shipment 3 times at 7 feet and provided pictures as proof.  Therefore, we had no choice but...

to charge him for the additional 2 feet.  Pictures of the measurement were provided to the customer. While we regret any inconvenience, based on the pictures we cannot modify the charges.  However, we will offer the customer $50 for any inconvenience which we sincerely regret.Thank you,Howard G[redacted]

Without admitting any liability or wrongdoing, [redacted] agrees to pay an additional $80.00 to the customer.[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: There response is not valid.
1. I received a phone call stating the truck had arrived. I accepted delivery.
2. I called Move America about getting unloaders. They were worried about completing a 2nd audit of the space used.
3. Move America called and stated 2nd audit was completed, I asked why 2nd audit was needed. I did not get an answer, they stated that movers not available in the area. If they did have movers available, they made no mention of needing any extra time to get movers available for moving items off of the van. The same day I requested movers, we received a refund and an email "... extra foot not used and unloaders unavailable at destination.." The lady on the line stated they had no one in the Kalispell area. Being new to the area and not knowing anyone,we would not have refused extra time to find unloaders.
Move America seems to be a 3rd Party company that just coordinates moves using other companies and charges a premium for coordinating those companies with the customer's move requirements. Move America failed and should never have accepted our business and should not receive any profit on this type of mistake. Move America is unwelling to admit they made a mistake and is trying to blame the customer.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is acceptable to me only because I want this to end.  He states that my deposit was refunded which it was not.  My refund was $250 less than what I paid for no service rendered.  I can prove this with my statements and emails.  I stipulated from the beginning the space I had to work with but was told on the day I had to cancel that it would not work.  Why would I have cancelled if it could have worked?  I have never been issued an apology from the business for first telling me it would work then saying it wouldn't or the delay in getting any money back from them.  I just hope others make sure they are completely aware of the size space they need to manipulate the truck into position and park it before they pay a dime.  Promises of customer service do not matter if they are just words.  When a customer provides details, it is a matter of respect for businesses to pay attention.  He did not even take care to spell my name correctly in his response.

MoveAmerica arranges transportation for its customers on third party operated equipment, who measure the shipment after loading.  In this case the shipment was measured by the driver, and then remeasured at the customers request by management at its terminal.  MoveAmerica does not do any...

measurement of shipments and bases its charges on information it is given by the motor carrier.Space is charged up to and including the driver installed wall.  In this case the measured amount was 15 feet 10 inches, which was rounded off to 16 feet.  The carrier provided MoveAmerica picture documentation of the measurement, including showing a tape measure of the distance between the wall and the back of the trailer.  MoveAmerica checked the calculations, and concurred with the 15 foot 10 inch measurement based on the evidence presented.  After delivery, the customer still insisted that only 15 feet was used, which was what the customer originally purchased. It is possible that the customer did not consider the distance between the shipment and the wall in their calculations. Not having any evidence to refute the measurement by the carrier, and considering that ANY space over 15 feet would be considered 16 feet for billing purposes, MoveAmerica cannot in this instance refund the one foot charged by the carrier.  In most cases, a measurement of less than 6 inches would usually allow us to negotiate a lower footage, but with 10 inches over we cannot since we have no basis to do so.However, we are willing to offer the customer $50 as compensation for any distress or aggravation they may have suffered, and we do very much appreciate their business.Thank you,Howard G[redacted]MoveAmerica
