Our wedding will not be able to be held at Rebar and Rebar will be in breech of contract.Desired Settlement: Refund of our money, $18,300.

Review: In September 2012 I booked Rebar as my wedding venue for August ** 2014. I gave a large initial deposit and have paid monthly installments up until now totaling over $13k dollars. On Friday, Rebar closed up shop and the [redacted] is nowhere to be found. The storefront is locked, no one to speak to. The phone line is not working. My wedding now has to be moved somewhere else. The problem is I have no money. Rebar took all I had and now the money is gone.Desired Settlement: Please help us get our money back.

Review: On January **, 2014, I, [redacted] and my fiancé, [redacted], met with ReBar [redacted] to discuss the possibility of booking ReBar for a wedding ceremony and reception. My fiancé and I selected the date of Sunday, February **, 2015 to have a wedding ceremony and reception for 60 people at ReBar. [redacted] drafted up our contract and emailed us a draft on February *, 2014. The contract explained in detail what was included in our package and required a 50% deposit to secure our wedding date.

As per the contract, the cost of the wedding and reception broke down as follows:

$100 per person (x 60 people = $6000)

20% Gratuity ($6000 x 20% = $1200)

NYS Tax ($7200 x 8.75%= 532.50)

3% Credit Card fee ($116.98)

Our Grand Total was $7,732.50 and in order to secure the date and sign the contract, ReBar required us to deposit 50% of the grand total which came to $3,982.23 after the 3% Credit Card fee.

On February **, 2014, my fiancé used his American Express card ending in [redacted] to cover the 50% deposit. ReBar gave us the option to send in monthly payments until the wedding date or to pay the remaining balance 2 weeks before the wedding date. We opted to pay the lump sum closer to the wedding date.

On Friday, May *, 2013, I found an article featured on Gothamist stating that ReBar was closed and a sign was posted to the door stating the company was bankrupt. On the evening of May *, 2013 my fiancé, [redacted], filed a dispute with American Express.Desired Settlement: [redacted] and I, [redacted] would like a 100% credit on the American Express card.

Review: Booked this business as our wedding venue for our July **, 2014 Wedding. Paid hard hold deposit of $500 on 4/**/13 and 2 payments totaling $8088.97 on 5/**/13 when we signed the event contracts with owner [redacted]. This came out to approximately 50% of our wedding cost. We discovered on Friday, May *. 2014 that [redacted] had suspiciously closed the establishment citing Bankruptcy (although there was never any bankruptcy claim on file to date). He made this claim via a cryptic email to a [redacted] in the morning telling him to dispose of his keys and not to enter the premises as well as on a notice that he left on the venue's door. ReBar was closed with no warning or notice, to even his employees that showed up to work unaware of the events that transpired that morning. Customers and employees of ReBar are equally shocked. We have discovered that [redacted] emptied the registered and cleared all bank accounts. His whereabouts are unknown and no one has been able to find him.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund to both credit cards for services not rendered.

Review: November 2013 my Fiancee ([redacted]) and I ([redacted]) met with [redacted], the [redacted] of reBar regarding holding our wedding ceremony at his venue. On December [redacted], 2014 my fiancee and I signed a contract for $16475.22 (full payment) for a wedding to take place on 3/**/15. The check was cashed by his business on 12/*/13. On 5/*/14 I read an article stating that the venue was abruptly closed without warning to the 200+ couples with weddings on the books or employees (see link: [redacted]). Attempts to contact [redacted] have been unsuccessful. Thus far, no one has been able to make contact with [redacted]. I have contacted the Brooklyn District Attorney and New York State attorney general to file complains as well. They recommended I submit with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: Financial restitution

Review: I had signed a wedding contract with reBar to be our wedding venue on 9/**/14. We paid a $5,650 check deposit in May 2013 and have been sending monthly checks of $700 since July 2013. It has come to our attention that now reBar closed and the [redacted] has not only broken our contract but has taken all of the money as well.Desired Settlement: I would like the [redacted] of reBar, [redacted] to return the money I have given him for my wedding.

Review: Contract was signed on December [redacted], 2013 for a wedding venue event at reBar and deposit was left for $11,000. Constant communication with the Venue and staff regarding out event and upcoming itinerary. Gave a second deposit on March [redacted], 2014 for $2,000 (totaling now $13,000) to our wedding event scheduled on Octber [redacted], 2014 for reBar venue location. Was contacted by reBar staff on May [redacted], 2014 that the [redacted]' had closed location for reasons unknown. No attempt has been made by the [redacted] in regards to refund of our money about about 100+ other couples.Desired Settlement: Full refund of deposited money plus additional charges needed for selection of a new wedding venue short term notice (estimated $20,000)

Review: My fiance and I entered into a written contract to receive services. We are to be married at reBar on 7/**/14. We paid nearly $13,000 for the venue, food and beverage. The place closed abruptly leaving hundreds of brides and grooms, including myself, without venue and without a refund for services.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund in addition to related costs, such as the cost of wedding invitations that I have purchased and sent to guests with a venue that is now closed.

Review: Rebar abruptly closed on May *, 2014. I had a contract with them to provide wedding services in 2015. I have not been able to reach anyone in the business and my funds have not been returned. I paid in full for the services already.Desired Settlement: A full refund and prosecution of the [redacted].

Review: My fiance and I first met [redacted], the [redacted] of reBar, on March **, 2014. He gave us a tour of reBar, as we were interested in booking it for our wedding. We negotiated the cost for our wedding, which would total $27,500. [redacted] told us that when we returned to sign the contract, we would be required to pay a 50% deposit of $13,750. On April *, 2014 we returned to reBar and booked our wedding for February *, 2015. We signed a contract and paid the deposit of $13,750 with a check.

We found out on May *, 2014, via countless news articles, that reBar unexpectedly closed, allegedly due to bankruptcy, and [redacted] had disappeared. As soon as I heard, I called reBar to try to reach [redacted], but according to staff and the news, his whereabouts are unknown, and he is still currently unreachable.

We want our deposit refunded to us. This case is currently under investigation, and like many others, we feel that [redacted] stole our money, knowing that he was going to shut down reBar and flee before our event date. He had no intention of ever rendering the services that we had paid for.Desired Settlement: We want our deposit of $13,750 refunded to us.

Review: [redacted] & [redacted] had signed a contract on 1/**14 to host their wedding at Rebar Brooklyn. Upon signing contract, we left a security deposit $9454.24 to hold our date at the venue and provide partial payment of the services guaranteed in the contract. On 5/*/14, the news came out that the [redacted] of the venue had closed the doors to the venue with no previous heads up to any f the employees, future weddings, or vendors. News reports state that he drained all bank accounts. We are left with no idea whether or not we will recieve our security deposit back. We paid amex and an insurance claim has been made with their purchase protection.Desired Settlement: We want our full deposit refunded.
